BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Parents and friends of a missing college student ramped up search efforts on Sunday and Monday to include areas surrounding the campus of Indiana University in Bloomington.

Lauren Spierer, 20, was last seen early Friday morning walking to her apartment. Spierer's roommates said she never made it home.

Robert Spierer was understandably upset about his daughter's disappearance, 6News' Rick Hightower reported.

"She's a wonderful kid," Robert Spierer said.

Lauren's parents drove to Bloomington from New York after they received word of her disappearance.

"We'll be searching again for Lauren. I'm just not sure exactly where. We'll work on that and figure out where to go," Robert Spierer said.

New details have come out regarding the altercation that took place shortly before the disappearance of 20-year-old IU student Lauren Spierer.

Fox59 reports Spierer returned to the apartment building with her friend Corey Rossman after leaving Kilroy's Sports Bar at 2:30 last Friday morning. Rossman was in the fifth floor lobby when he was punched in the face by a friend of Spierer's boyfriend Jesse Wolff.

Witnesses say Spierer and Rossman left the building and went to Rossman's apartment nearby where they stayed until Spierer left around 4:30, the last time she was seen.

The search for the missing Indiana University student has encountered an unusual hurdle. One of the last people to see her alive claims he is suffering from memory loss.

Two hours before Spierer vanished, surveillance cameras captured her coming from Kilroy Sports Bar back to her apartment building with a friend, Corey Rossman. The cameras captured a scuffle between Rossman and another young man at the Smallwood Plaza apartment building complex.

"He was punched in the face. We don't know who, why or what was said, but that punch or punches caused him a temporary memory loss," said Carl Satzmann, Rossman's attorney.

Spierer and Rossman left the apartment building and she escorted Rossman back to his apartment. She was there for about an hour with Rossman and another young man.

Friday afternoon, Fox59 News learned Corey Rossman was at Bloomington police headquarters giving a DNA sample. He was the man missing IU student Lauren Spierer was with during the early morning hours of Friday, June 3rd before the 20-year-old woman disappeared.

Rossman's attorney Carl Salzmann said his client was punched when confronted by friends of Spierer's boyfriend in the 5th floor elevator lobby of Spierer's smallwood Plaza apartment building.

Well-known Indianapolis attorney representing person of interest in Spierer case

Noted Indianapolis defense attorney James Voyles has confirmed to Fox59 News that he has been retained to represent one of the key witnesses in the Lauren Spierer case. Voyles is recognized as one of Indiana's premier defense attorneys and at various times has represented boxer Mike Tyson and businessmen involved in the Tim Durham Fair Finance investigation.

Fox59 News has learned Jay Rosenbaum, whom Voyles is representing, told Bloomington police he saw Spierer walk away from his apartment before dawn on June 3rd. Police said Rosenbaum may have been the last person to see Spierer.

Specialized search team in Bloomington to help find Lauren Spierer

A lot of manpower and resources have been going towards the search for Lauren Spierer, and now a specialized search team is in Bloomington.

Private search group Texas EquuSearch came at the request of Spierers' parents and authorities involved in the case.

"I think there is a lot of strength in numbers, and there has been a lot of numbers," said Texas EquuSearch founder and director Tim Miller.

The search and rescue group will be bringing some of the most advanced technology available to Bloomington beginning Sunday.

The Greenburgh woman's disappearance was detailed in a two-minute segment on Fox's "America's Most Wanted" Saturday night. It aired during the first half-hour of the 60-minute program.

The segment recapped Spierer's activities in the early morning of June 3 before she went missing, giving a brief description of her, and the massive ongoing searches in and around Bloomington.

Lauren Spierer's roommate shares details of night before her disappearance

Hadar Tamir, Lauren Spierer's college roommate, shared new details Sunday about the morning her roommate went missing.

She said she was with her roommate for much of the previous day and remained with her until shortly after midnight the morning of June 3.

They were "just hanging out" in a friend's apartment down the hall at Smallwood Plaza around 12:30 a.m., when Spierer left.

That's shortly before Spierer went to a bar and met fellow student Corey Rossman.

According to Tamir, Spierer met him two weeks earlier at the Indianapolis 500.

Bloomington police confirmed information first reported by Fox59 News last week about evidence discovered in the investigation of the disappearance of an IU student. Bloomington Police Captain Joseph Qualters told reporters Lauren Spierer's keys were found on the railing of an apartment building near where she was last seen June 3rd.

Surveillance cameras may provide important clues as to the young woman's disappearance, police say.

"We have information from that video that again gives us an indication not only of the direction (of her travel) but the activities that have taken place from where that video shows," said Capt. Qualters, who told reporters that surveillance cameras in the vicinity of 10th Street and College Avenue and adjoining alleys may show Spierer walking from her Smallwood Plaza apartment building to 5 North Townhomes at 11th Street and Morton Avenue.

Lauren Spierer: Cops acknowledge 'rumor' that missing student OD'd

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Police for the first time today acknowledged that they have received information that college student Lauren Spierer may have overdosed on cocaine and that the student or students who were with her panicked and disposed of her body.

Bloomington police Capt. Joe Qualters was asked by a reporter about these "rumors" during a morning media conference.

His reply: "Have we heard information along those lines? Absolutely."

But he said detectives have not ruled that, or any other possibility, out in their investigation into the missing student.

BLOOMINGTON – Police released two images today in hopes of finding clues in the disappearance of Indiana University student Lauren Spierer who went missing June 3.

The photos, taken from security cameras near where Spierer was last seen, was of a mid-2000 white Chevy Silverado or Colorado four-door short-bed truck. Police said the vehicle had writing on the doors and rear panel, high quality set of rims, and was loaded with equipment in the back.

The truck was first recorded by a surveillance camera at 4:14 a.m. traveling westbound on 10th street approaching Morton Street. The video captured the vehicle heading northbound on Morton and was seen a second time at 4:24 a.m. heading westbound on 10th street approaching Morton Street.

Police release timeline for IU student Lauren Spierer

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Police investigating the disappearance of Indiana University student Lauren Spierer today released a timeline that is their best estimation of her last known movements.

The timeline tracks Spierer from a sports bar to her apartment complex, through an alley and back onto College Avenue, one of Bloomington’s main thoroughfares.

Much of the early morning of June 3, her movements were caught on surveillance video and are documented down to the minute. The timeline thins out considerably after 2:51 a.m., when police say they have only witness accounts of her movements -- including the last sight of her at 4:30 a.m.

Here’s the timeline:
1:46 a.m. — Enters Kilroy’s Sports Bar.
2:27 a.m. — Exits Kilroy’s
2:48 a.m. — Enters a North/South alley between 10th and College Apartments and 10th and College Village.
2:51 a.m. — Exits the alley, heading toward an empty lot north of 10th & College Village Apartments.
4:30 a.m. — Last seen at 11th and College Ave.

Bloomington police said Wednesday that their search for missing IU coed Lauren Spierer has moved into a new phase now that most of the young woman's friends and the witnesses to her last hours in town have departed for the summer.

"There are many things going on with this interview behind the scenes," said Blommington Police Department Captain Joe Qualters. "(There have) been a number of interviews that have been completed not only with individuals that we knew to be with Lauren prior to her disappearnce but also with people in that secondary tier as well."

Qualters said there are one or two potential witnesses that investigators have not yet interviewed. Based on the information from that ring of sources, detectives may decide to re-interview what they are calling first tier individuals. That would include Spierer's boyfriend Jesse Wolff who was the person to report her missing on the afternoon of June 3.

Lawyer: Last person to see missing IU student Lauren Spierer passes polygraph test

Jason Rosenbaum, known to friends as Jay, has provided “full statements to police,” and “provided cooperation as soon as requested by the authorities and continues to do so,” according to the statement from attorneys James H. Voyles and Jennifer M. Lukemeyer.

Fashion Student Lauren Spierer Missing From Indiana University Since Friday (June 3)

Search parties fanned out today looking for an Indiana Univesity student with a dangerous heart condition who has been missing for four days.

Lauren Spierer is a pint-sized student who weighs less than 100 pounds and is 4-foot-11 and had just completed her sophomore year at the school's Bloomington campus.

She was last seen at about 4:30 a.m. on Friday morning walking to her apartment. The Indiana Daily Student reports that Spierer was at Kilroy's Sports Bar Thursday night and then at a friend's party. She was last seen at the intersection of 11th Street and College Avenue. Surveillance footage from her apartment at Smallwood Plaza shows that she never came home.

Her keys were found a block away from where she was last seen, but there have been no other traces of the missing student.

The successful private investigative firm hired to help crack the Lauren Spierer case could get tossed out of town. The state Private Investigators and Security Guard Licensing Board filed a complaint with the attorney general's office Tuesday.

The firm, Dietl & Associates, is not licensed in the state of Indiana and that is illegal, according to the state Attorney General's Office. The firm didn't make friends in Bloomington after a recent appearance on a Fox morning show where he made fun of Bloomington Police Chief Michael Diekhoff.

INDIANAPOLIS (CBSNewYork/AP) — The parents of an Indiana University student missing more than a year hope a tooth from a skull found in the White River in Indianapolis will help quickly determine if it belongs to their daughter.

The skull was found July 8 by a fisherman. Divers searched but found no additional remains. Marion County Deputy Coroner Alfarena Ballew told The Journal News forensic experts will compare the tooth with dental records for Lauren Spierer.

A skull found last month in Indiana's White River does not belong to Lauren Spierer, a Greenburgh woman missing since last year, the Marion County coroner's office said Friday.

A forensic anthropologist "was able to determine that the skull has characteristics consistent with those of an East or Southeast Asian male," a statement from the coroner's office reads.

"Given this information, we are able to rule out that the skull is that of missing IU student Lauren Spierer," the statement continues.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The family of missing Indiana University student Lauren Spierer has posted online a photo of a ring similar to one they believe she was wearing the night she disappeared from Bloomington, Ind., in June of last year.

A family Facebook page that publicizes the search said, "Lauren was wearing a ring similar to this one the night she disappeared. It was a gift for her 20th Birthday. Anything small could lead to answers. If you have any information about Lauren's disappearance please contact us."

Indiana authorities say they continue to actively investigate the disappearance of 20-year-old Lauren Spierer, two days after the woman's parents claimed they were "stonewalled" by the people who last saw their daughter.

Robert and Charlene Spierer, of Greenburgh, N.Y., have claimed repeatedly that the college acquaintances -- with whom their daughter partied the night she disappeared -- have not been forthcoming in providing key information.

Spierer, a student at Indiana University, was last seen early the morning of June 3, 2011, on the intersection of 11th Street and College Avenue in Bloomington, according to the woman’s acquaintance and college classmate Jay Rosenbaum.

On Monday, the parents of missing Indiana University student Lauren Spierer said in a taped interview with Katie Couric they've been "stonewalled" by the last people to see their daughter alive.

According to ABC News, police said only one of Lauren's friends voluntarily came forward to share information in the investigation.

Robert Spierer, Lauren's father, said he's "frustrated and angry" with their daughter's male friends, who were the last to be seen with Lauren on June 3, 2011 -- the night she disappeared. "Despite their claims of doing whatever they could do," Robert said, "the fact of the matter is they refused to meet with us except for one of the boys."

"I truly don't think it was a random abduction," Charlene Spierer, Lauren's mother, said in her interview with Couric. "I think that somebody that Lauren knew was responsible for the events of that evening.”

Lauren Spierer Missing: Firefighters building new billboards for Indiana University student who vanished two years ago

(CBS/AP) BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Firefighters are rebuilding 20 weathered signs to replace the billboards that featured the image of Lauren Spierer, who vanished nearly two years ago.

The wooden-framed signs were erected after Spierer vanished on June 3, 2011, following a night of partying with friends in downtown Bloomington. Spierer, an apparel merchandising student of Indiana University, vanished when she was 20 years old.

City firefighters are also hanging new posters of Spierer, which were donated from local community members.

Three former Indiana University students accused of negligence in the presumed death of Lauren Spierer say her family’s lawsuit against them fails to prove one critical point — that she’s dead.

“Under Indiana common law, a person who has been missing for less than seven years is presumed to be alive,” Dane Mize, lawyer for defendant Corey Rossman, wrote Thursday in a motion to dismiss the lawsuit.

Robert and Charlene Spierer of Edgemont filed the lawsuit in June against Rossman, Jay Rosenbaum and Mike Beth, who witnessed the 20-year-old’s decline during a night of partying. They were the last three people known to have seen her before, Rosenbaum said, he let her walk out his door about 4:30 a.m. June 3, 2011, barefoot, with a bruised face, and unsteady after consuming alcohol and drugs.

The parents claim that Rossman and Rosenbaum provided her alcohol even after it was clear she was drunk, and that negligence of the three men resulted in her disappearance, injury and presumed death.

Rosenbaum, Beth, and Rossman were the last known people to see Spierer alive.

According to investigators, Spierer, a fashion merchandising major, left her Smallwood Apartment complex with a friend, David Rohn, shortly after midnight. The two headed to Rosenbaum's apartment, where other students had gathered with ample amounts of alcohol.

Spierer then left with Rossman, whom she had met a week prior at the Indianapolis 500, and walked to Kilroy's Sports Bar at 1:46 a.m. Spierer, who was not of legal drinking age, entered the popular hangout, which has a sandy, outdoor beach-like area where students often walk barefoot. At 2:27 a.m., Spierer was seen on camera leaving the bar without her shoes or cell phone and heading, with Rossman, back to her apartment complex.

Judge dismisses 1 of 3 lawsuits in Lauren Spierer's disappearance

A federal judge Monday threw out a negligence lawsuit against one of three men who were with missing Indiana University student Lauren Spierer the night she disappeared.

Federal Judge Tanya Walton Pratt dismissed the lawsuit against Michael Beth that had been filed this June by Spierer's parents. Robert and Charlene Spierer of Greenburgh, N.Y., alleged that Beth, Jason "Jay" Rosenbaum and Corey Rossman owed Spierer a "duty of care" the night she went missing in 2011. The parents are hoping to force them to share more information about her disappearance.

Attorneys for all three men argued Monday for Pratt to throw out the lawsuit. Pratt said she expects to make a decision on Rosenbaum's and Rossman's cases by the end of the year, though a ruling could come as early as within the next two weeks, she said.

INDIANAPOLIS, Dec. 3 (UPI) -- A lawsuit against one of three men who were with missing Indiana University student Lauren Spierer on the night of her disappearance in 2011 was dismissed.

All three men were with Spierer, 20, at various times on the night she was last seen, the suit said, noting she was "extremely intoxicated to the point of incapacitation" and the men did not do enough to ensure she returned to her home safely.

Pratt's decision said Bath was not negligent toward Spierer, and added Spierer had her own responsibility to take care of herself, regardless of her condition.
