An Alabama judge sentenced a woman to 219 years in prison for her involvement in an incestuous sex ring accused of molesting children for years.

Wendy Holland, 35, showed no emotion as the judge condemned her to virtually a life sentence. She must serve 50 years before being considered for parole.

The jurors convicted Holland of sodomy, sexual abuse and other charges last month. Another defendant, William Brownlee, got a 20-year prison sentence. The 50-year-old man was convicted of sodomy and sexual abuse in the fall.

This may not bring Britney back but something I guess you can say did happen because it did stop the cycle of abuse in this family. This is the sickest I have ever heard and if Britney is looking down from heaven at least she can smile because she stopped them in their tracks. I can not wait for her mother to be locked up and then throw away the keys. She has cried and cried knowing how she made her daughter live thru years of sexual abuse and denied it all. I feel wishing something bad on these people is a waste of my brain matter cause uncle Jill and aunt Jack will take of these sickos. Everyone hates child abusers especially a while family of them.

Chessie. The sister of both Wendy and Mendy. (Need a spreadsheet to keep the families, in-laws, and the friends straight....) I would agree with Nene. There is NO way Brittney's mother was NOT aware of what was going on. Good grief! When her own daughter reports the step grandparent of molesting her would the mother not have a sense of heightened awareness? And then her own son is busy being molested and molesting his own SISTER? Come on. That mother was just as guilty of not protecting her own children and then making them available for sexual molestation. She is NOT that dumb!!!

Remove ALL the children from Chessie. She is apparently too dumb to be able to raise and protect her own children.

Brittney Wood's uncle gets 15 years in prison for involvement in family sex ring

"....A Mobile man and uncle to missing teen Brittney Wood was sentenced to prison Thursday for his involvement in an incestuous sex ring that has resulted in 11 arrests in Mobile and Baldwin counties.

Randall "Scott" Wood, 45, was sentenced to 15 years in prison, but he will only have to serve up to three years under a split-sentence imposed by Judge Jody Bishop.

Under terms of the sentencing guidelines, Wood will serve five years probation after he is released from prison. The balance of his sentence is suspended, meaning that if Wood serves out the terms of his probation, the remainder of his sentence is dismissed.

The sentencing was based on Wood's August guilty plea to a felony count of sodomy. ...."

Six suspects charged in a child sex abuse investigation spanning two counties were in court Thursday, March 26.

It's a story FOX10 News has been following for three years, since mother Brittney Wood, 19, went missing in May 2012. Wood has yet to be found.

The suspects who have cases pending in Mobile County include William Brownlee, Nelton Morgan, Mendy Kent, James Cumbaa and Chessie Wood.

Wendy Wood Holland was also in court but entered a guilty plea admitting to engaging in group sex involving a minor. A Baldwin County jury found Holland guilty of sodomy, sexual abuse, sexual torture and endangering the welfare of a child. She will spend the rest of her life in prison.

The remaining five defendants are expected back in court in July. Their charges are listed below.

William Brownlee: In Mobile County, Brownlee faces rape, sodomy and sex abuse charges. A Baldwin County jury found Brownlee guilty of sodomy and sex abuse. He was sentenced to 21 years in prison.

Nelton Morgan: Morgan is facing sex abuse and rape charges in Mobile County.

Mendy Wood Kent: In Mobile County, Kent is facing sex abuse and sodomy charges.

James Cumbaa: He is facing sex abuse, sodomy and rape charges.

Chessie Wood: Wood is facing sex abuse and sodomy charges in Mobile County......."

Chessie Wood of Mobile says innocent people don't make plea deals.

Wood is the mother of 19-year-old Brittney Wood, who hasn't been seen since 2012 and is presumed dead. The teen disappeared as authorities investigated incest involving her family.

Trial dates set for child sex ring defendants (Video)

MOBILE, AL (WALA) - A Mobile judge set trial dates Thursday for several defendants in a child sex ring investigation that involves both Mobile and Baldwin Counties.

Five defendants were scheduled for a status hearing before Judge Rick Stout.  

Trial was set for March 28, 2016 for Chess Wood the mother of Brittney Wood who has been missing since May 2012. Chessie Wood is free on bond.

William Brownlee was not in court.  He is serving a prison sentence for a conviction in Baldwin County for sodomy and sex abuse. The judge set Brownlee's Mobile trial for January, 2016.

Mendy Kent was also not in court today.  She's being held in the Metro Jail on sex abuse and sodomy charges.  Her trial was set for October of this year.

James Cumbaa is free on bond. He, and Nelton "Butch" Morgan will go on trial in January.

Brittney Wood case: Twisted tale of perversion still unfolding

"...But Patterson said it was 45-year-old Randall "Scott" Wood who got the investigation rolling.

Wood, in 2012, had been accused of several sex crimes. Rather than stay silent, he opened up to tell of sex crimes being committed by others.

According to Patterson, Wood was in love with a girl who was being sexually abused. He began talking to law-enforcement officers about what was going on.

Said Patterson, "A report was made to DHR that the child was being abused by family members. When Baldwin County DHR began the investigation, they kept finding more and more layers off the onion."

Mystery deepens

It was a few weeks after Randall Wood's revelations that Brittney Wood vanished on May 30, 2012, according to Patterson.

By most accounts, Brittney Wood was visiting her uncle Donnie Holland near Fairhope the night that she went missing. Holland, considered by investigators to be a ring-leader in the sex crimes, was found dead, shot in the head at a clearing overlooking the Fish River.

At that point, he was already under suspicion in a child-molestation case.

Holland's death was ruled a suicide, but questions have surfaced over the years about the location of the gunshot wound to the back of his head. Suicide gunshots to the head, experts say, are more likely to occur in the right temple, mouth or forehead, not in the back.

"Baldwin County had every reason in the world to think of it as a suicide," Patterson said. "At that time, there was no indication at the depth of what we were looking at. And no one was aware that Brittney was missing."

Baldwin County Sheriff Huey "Hoss" Mack said that the circumstances of Holland's death received close examination. The suicide ruling remains intact, "based on all available evidence," Mack said.

"They came across a body with a gunshot wound to the head that appeared to be self-inflicted and he was being investigated for molesting," Patterson said. "His wife said they were out looking for him because he threatened to commit suicide."

Still searching

Stephanie Hanke, Brittney Wood's stepmother, feels certain that someone in the family knows what happened to her.

Hanke has attended almost all of the court appearances involving family members with hopes of hearing hints or clues. Thus far, there have been none.

Baldwin County Assistant District Attorney Teresa Heinz said, "We remain hopeful that one day, that someday, someone with information as to Brittney's whereabouts will come forward. ... Until then we will continue to work."

Mack expects that Brittney Wood is dead. Early in the search for her, he said, law officers held out "the possibility she was alive."

"All of those leads which could be followed up on have been to date," Mack said. "It is our belief she is deceased and her body has been concealed."

He said in a statement, "Closure will only come when Ms. Wood's killer (or killers) are indicted and Ms. Woods' body is located."

The case remains open, receiving attention from Mobile police and from sheriff's offices and district attorney's offices in both counties.

'A perfect storm'

He was accused of searching the internet for sex with underage girls. He resigned from the DA’s office after FBI agents raided his home in April 2009, is accused of enticing a 15 year old girl on the Internet. The D.A. says Giardini is a "good, wonderful, child abuse prosecutor, but like all of us, he is replaceable and he has been".
