Got to admit, this did crack me up!
I am sure the state was asking if BB had issues with finances, family, employment, temper, etc.

Mistress says she slept at Bashara home prior to murder

Rachel Gillett testifed she slept over Bob Bashara's house while his wife was away and on another occasion drove Jane Bashara's car


Bob Bashara's former mistress gave a glimpse into the Grosse Pointe Park man's lies and deception during testimony in his murder trial this morning.

Rachel Gillett calmly testified Bashara blindfolded her and another woman in 2009. They got into in a van then drove to the home where Bashara lived with his wife, Jane Bashara.

"I pretty much freaked out," she said. "I didn't want to be there."

But, she stayed and all three participated in sexual activity in Jane Bashara's bed, Gillett testified. They showered and spent the night in the home.

the news video here had some very interesting stuff… Joe Gentz refusing to testify.. a friend of Joes who has tried everything including living in her car to avoid testifying… and a bunch of other stuff…

Gabel also told the jury that Bashara looked un-kept until after Jane was murdered. When he saw Bashara on the news he was well groomed and looked like a “movie star.“ Gabel then said he was being facetious with that description, but did see a difference.

how is it possible that they have only examined phone calls on BB's phone but are now looking at text messages?? is this only for court purposes?

This seems to indicate the two parties have not worked out the details as to evidence, and that might be because they either have not gotten to it, or one side was withholding evidence, Perhaps, it was not available from forensics until now? As in, the State did not ask to have it sent over but delayed receipt so defense would be operating at a disadvantage?

Bashara murder trial resumes, Secret Service agent says Bob lied about affair

Detroit Secret Service Agent Mark O’Riordan testified he did a forensic interview with Bob Bashara on January 27, 2012, just days after his wife Jane was murdered. Bob agreed to the interview and waived his Miranda Rights.

About halfway through the interview, Bashara pointed to a Rotary pin he was wearing and said, “How could I have killed my wife if I was President of the Rotary Club.”

...Leehmann was concerned about living in the marital home and Bob told her this would be their last Christmas together as a family and his family members “would have to deal with it.”  This was just weeks before Jane was killed.

I believe that Friday hearing was canceled because they already resolved the issues about which emails could be shown.

DETROIT (WWJ) – A second mistress testified Wednesday that Bob Bashara gave her a beating she didn’t expect.

...Leehman said Bob Bashara bought a whip and some rope at a farm store prior to their sexual encounter, during which he failed to perform due to apparent erectile dysfunction.

She testified that it was a painful experience.

“It was awful… I wasn’t expecting what I got…a really good beating that left marks for about three months,” Leehman testified. “I got thrashed.”

...Leehman later testified that she overheard a phone conversation Bob Bashara had with a person he told her was a handyman, during which, “His voice became elevated and I heard him say, ‘What the hell is wrong with you? I want this done; I want it done now.'”

We had open marriage, Bashara told mom of his slain wife

After Bob Bashara told an interviewer that he and his late wife Jane Bashara had an "open marriage," Jane Bashara's mother made a request.

"Please don't bring Jane down to your level," Lorraine Engelbrecht told Bashara in a phone call.

The testimony came as prosecutors showed the strained relationship between Bashara and his slain wife's family. Engelbrecht said the two did not have an open marriage. She told him, "You had an open marriage," she testified Monday during Bob Bashara's trial.

...Earlier in the day, Steven Tibaudo took the stand and led the court through a recorded conversation in which Bashara tried to recruit Tibaudo to find a hit man to kill handyman Joseph Gentz.

Bob Bashara collapses, trial postponed until Monday
12:34 p.m. EDT October 29, 2014


The trial of Bob Bashara, charged in connection with his wife's killing, is delayed until Monday because he had a medical emergency this morning.

Assistant Wayne County Prosecutor Robert Moran said he was updated by the Wayne County Sheriff's Office that Bashara collapsed this morning and was being evaluated by doctors at the William Dickerson Detention Facility.

"The defendant is complaining of pain and doubled over," Moran said he was told.

I was watching Discovery ID last night and on Scorned, Love Kills they did this case.
A couple of things were odd to me. They had Jane as a dark haired woman. They had Jane being killed in the kitchen (the acting out in that scene was disturbing to me).
Did anyone else catch it?

Didn't see it. Seems like they were in a rush to get it out and failed to verify facts. And it would have been EASY to verify! Tells me they wanted to make a movie rather than relay info that was truthful.

Contact the station via email and let them know you were disappointed in their lack of journalistic inquiry.

That was the other thing I was going to comment on about them not waiting until the trial is done, signed, sealed and delivered. Just odd.

Murder-for-hire plot and cell phone technology that contradicts Bashara's alibi likely to be discussed

Detroit — A month before Jane Bashara was murdered, the man who admitted to strangling her sent a text message about "(doing) somebody in" according to testimony Tuesday.

Stan Brue, a Special Agent with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, testified about Gentz's text message. It was not revealed who received the message.

Brue was one of three witnesses who took the stand Monday in the trial's 11th day of testimony.

Earlier in the trial, Brue testified that cell phone evidence showed Bashara and his wife were near their home when she died, and that both of their vehicles left around the same time.

The cell phone records contradict Bashara's story to police that he was at the Hard Luck Lounge, located in a building he owned on Mack, when his wife was killed.

Detroit – — The jury in the Robert Bashara murder-for-hire case heard audio Monday of the Grosse Pointe Park businessman setting up a hit on his handyman with a furniture store owner who secretly wore a wire for the FBI.

On Monday, prosecutors played audio recorded from a device worn by furniture store owner Steve Tibaudo. After Bashara first asked him if he could have the hit on Gentz done, Tibaudo went to authorities and agreed to wear a wire.

Tibaudo was recorded telling Bashara there were several ways he could have the hit carried out on Gentz in jail, including putting glass in his salt shaker, and using a grenade launcher. He told Bashara it would cost $20,000.

Bashara appeared in court Monday, and his attorney, Lillian Diallo, said he's been suffering from spasms on his right side.

"I'm OK," Bashara told Evans when the judge asked how he was doing.

Evans said Wednesday she was concerned Bashara's medical issues could cause the trial to be put on hold even longer.

Witness: Gentz told her someone was paying him to kill

Detroit – — A bagel shop employee said Wednesday at the Robert Bashara murder-for-hire trial that a handyman whom she had met on a dating site told her he had been paid to kill someone.

Lorna Beth Riikonen testified she and Joseph Gentz talked on the phone a few times three years ago before he showed up at her workplace, an Einstein's Bagel outlet at Detroit Metro Airport.

Gentz needed a ride home, she said, so Riikonen agreed to give him a lift. While in the car, he told her someone had paid him to commit murder.

When she asked who the targeted victim was, Gentz said: "Basher Basher."

...Real estate agent Kathy Young testified Wednesday she showed Bashara and Gillett 15-20 houses. While touring one home, Young said Bashara made an unusual comment.

"There was a room in the basement of the house on Bishop," she said. "When we opened the door Bob said, 'this would make a great punishment room.' "

Investigator: Bob Bashara was not cooperative

Interviewing Bob Bashara a day after his wife was found strangled, an investigator suggested to the Grosse Pointe Park business man: maybe he and his wife didn't know everything about each other.

"I'm sure there's something out there she's done, probably a lot of things that, you know, you may not know about and vice-a-versa," Detroit police homicide investigator Donald Olsen said.

"There's not a lot of secrets and a lot of things we hide," Bashara said.

Despite the statement to Olsen, the prosecution has said Bashara had a number of secrets: a secret mistress, a secret lifestyle in BDSM (bondage, discipline, sadomasochism), a secret sex dungeon and a secret desire to start a new life.

DETROIT (WXYZ) - The jury in the Bob Bashara murder trial is getting two different views of Bob when he was told his wife Jane was murdered in January of 2012.

Detroit Police Detective Donald Olsen testified there was “not a lot of reaction or emotion” when he and other police officers made the death notification at Bashara’s Grosse Pointe Park home.

But the prosecutor then played a TV news clip from that same day in which Bob said he “fell to his knees and was grieving.”

Detective Olsen testified that “was not what I saw.”

The investigator told jurors that when he delivers the bad news that a person has been found dead, the reaction of loved ones is usually the same: they cry, get upset, say things like "this can't be, you're wrong."

Detroit homicide investigator Donald Olsen testified that when he delivered the news to Bob Bashara that his wife's body had been found, there wasn't much reaction.

Woman admits to lying for, about Bashara, his dead wife


A former Chicago police officer who said she met Bob Bashara over a web site testified Tuesday she tried to tarnish Jane Bashara’s name and lied for and about him following his wife’s murder.

Therese Giffin took the stand in Bashara’s murder trial and said that, at Bashara’s request, she posted a blog on the web site, thehinkymeter.com, to taint Jane Bashara’s reputation in order to steer police away from his as a suspect in her death.

In damaging testimony, Giffen said Bashara wanted “posts kind of like making Jane not look so good, that she could’ve possibly had a boyfriend who would’ve done it. It would have made them (police) look in another direction, not him.”
