This is the 'note' that was found in Grant and Amanda's apartment after Laura was murdered. I'm am not buying that Laura signed this note.
I think we will hear more about it.

Mr. Wolfe has done another article on Laura's case. Yay! I really do like his articles. However, in this particular write-up I may question a few of his dates, but as this is one of the more complicated cases I have followed in that regard, that's all I'll do--just question.

As Raleigh homicide detectives investigated the disappearance of Laura Ackerson and the whereabouts of Hayes, his wife Amanda and Hayes’ children, they called in Keith Heckman — of the Raleigh Police Department’s Tactical Assistance Response Unit — to get tell-tale information from mobile phone use.
With the cooperation of Ackerson’s carrier — T-Mobile — and Grant Hayes’ provider — AT&T — Heckman was able to determine Ackerson’s last call was to Grant Hayes at 4:49 p.m. on July 13, 2011, the day she disappeared.
According to Heckman, mobile phone tower triangulation data put Ackerson in the general area north and east of the intersection of U.S. 70 and I-440 — a route she would have taken after leaving Kinston and headed to the Hayes’ apartment in Raleigh.
In trying to find Grant Hayes’ location, Heckman turned to AT&T’s GPS data, because when on, an AT&T phone sends its general latitude and longitude data to AT&T every 15 minutes. Heckman testified that Grant Hayes’ phone placed him within a 223-foot reliability of Amanda Hayes’ sister’s residence in rural East Texas.

RALEIGH (WTVD) -- Testimony in the trial of a Raleigh man accused of killing the mother of his two eldest children and cutting up her body dipped into the gruesome Wednesday, as witnesses spoke about the creek in Texas where the woman's remains were found.

On the witness stand Wednesday, Raleigh Police Department detective Robert Latour Jr told jurors that Hayes purchased muriatic acid at a Home Depot after arriving in Texas and that the discarded containers were found on a street near where Ackerman's remains were recovered by divers with the Houston, Texas police department.
Latour also described the divers finding Ackerman's torso and later her head. He said the head was different in appearance - the inference being that it was placed in the acid before it was put in the water.
Later in the day, Amanda's nephew Shelton Berry spoke about the boat that Grant and Amanda allegedly used to go out on the creek to dump the body parts.
Berry said Hayes had asked him if there were alligators in the water and if they ate people.

"Brad Wichard, a homicide detective for the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office, said Amanda Hayes was caught on a security camera dumping four cartons containing seven full one-gallon bottles of muriatic acid at the end of a cul-de-sac 1.6 miles from the home of her sister, Karen Berry. An eighth bottle was missing.
Security video and a receipt from a home improvement store showed that Grant Hayes bought acid, as well as a 32-gallon trash can and a large pair of neoprene gloves.
The packaging from those gloves, Wichard said, was found near an empty hog pen near Berry's home. Police collected samples of discolored soil as well as part of the pen's fence that had been corroded."

The short video is very good. It focuses on Karen, Amanda's sister, saying how the defense wants the prosecution to call her; and mentions that Amanda told Karen that Amanda had hurt Laura, quote, "real bad."
The defense tried hard to get Detective Wichard to talk about the above, but they had no luck. :)

"A crime scene investigator from Texas also told jurors Thursday about other evidence she found.
"We found the hair stuck to the inside of the trailer," said Kim Oreskovich with the Fort Bend County, Texas Sheriff's Office.
Apparently the hair belonged to Ackerson.
On the witness stand Wednesday, Raleigh Police Department detective Robert Latour Jr told jurors that Hayes purchased muriatic acid at a Home Depot after arriving in Texas and that the discarded containers were found on a street near where Ackerman's remains were recovered by divers with the Houston, Texas police department.
Latour also described the divers finding Ackerman's torso and later her head. He said the head was different in appearance - the inference being that it was placed in the acid before it was put in the water."

I have missed so much of this trial.Very interesting and well documented trial.
Do we know IF any of the nephews, Shelton or Dalton, were with Grant/Amanda when Laura's body was dumped in the creek?
Did either of the two nephews look inside the coolers?
What condition were the coolers in when they were "gifted" to the nephews?
What explanation was offered for WHY Grant/Amanda had so many coolers?
Did the nephews see inside the trailer and perhaps see ALL the boxes of muriatic acid? IF so, did they ask WHY?

I captured this to show how much effort the divers put into finding Laura. The depth of the water is about eight feet, and the divers had to part the lily reeds one by one to look through them. They were so thick, high and tight that a boat couldn't pass through.
A little to the right of the center of the picture, you should see something pink. That is a ribbon that they used to mark the location where one section had been found.

Here is a new map adding the stop in Montgomery, Alabama on the 17th.
This is a very rough timeline, but it looks like they left Raleigh on the 16th and arrived in Richmond on the 18th; stayed the 19th, 20th, 21st; and left Richmond on the 22nd and arrived in Raleigh on the 24th.
They were arrested at 1:00 am on July 25th at Grant's parent's home.

@CP - I checked my notes concerning how many times Amanda has been married. It is 4 times:
1) Amanda's first husband was Sha's father. She separated from him before Sha was a year old.
2) Amanda's second husband was Ron--they eventually separated.
3) Amanda's third husband was Nicky. He died.
4) 10 to 11 years later, and next in line, was Grant R. Hayes, III.
This info comes from Sha's testimony at Grant's trial.

As to why, since the defense seemed eager to get it in, I'm guessing that Amanda as well as Sha had a hand in the song--either the writing of, or producing, or who knows.
Just look at the witnesses we haven't seen, and are not likely to see--Karen being one of them. Why wouldn't the State call her? Because on cross a lot of questions could be asked. Just sayin'

Detective Zeke Morse also read jurors a sampling of Hayes' Facebook messages. In a message posted about seven months before Ackerson's death, Hayes started with an expletive about her, telling a friend "I'm surprised you remembered her name. No one else did."
Ten days after Ackerson's death, he wrote to a friend about her disappearance, saying he was being investigated and wondered if the friend knew of a good attorney who would take the case for free.
"If Laura don't show up soon I may be in for the fight of my life and I'm really scared. Black guy, white girl, custody fight. WTF. This whole thing is top story news here - my picture, here pictures, court papers. It's a night mare. And what's f***ed up is I don't even know until yesterday how big a deal this was. Can you say lawyer?" Hayes wrote.
