MONTREAL - A low-budget porn actor with a controversial past is wanted in the shocking case of a dismembered body whose parts were mailed to different places including the headquarters of the Conservative Party of Canada. Montreal police say they are looking for 29-year-old Rocco Luka Magnotta, believed to originally be from Toronto, in connection with a suspected homicide.

A man with that same name has a huge presence on the Internet, as a low-level adult film actor and as a contentious figure alleged to have posted videos of cats being tortured and killed. There is considerable online chatter that the recent killing — along with multiple gruesome acts committed on the male victim's body — was videotaped and posted on the Internet.

Luka Magnotta, Canada’s alleged ‘body parts’ killer, arrested in Berlin

Luka Rocco Magnotta, the porn actor who Canadian authorities say sent the dismembered body parts of a student to Canadian politicians, has been captured in Berlin, police there said.

Magnotta was arrested in an Internet cafe on Monday, according to Germany's Bild newspaper. German police spokesperson Stefan Rieldich said someone at the cafe recognized Magnotta and called authorities, who took him into custody without incident.

"Yes, that's me," Magnotta replied when asked by police if he was the man sought by Interpol, according to Der Spiegel. A witness in the cafe told the German magazine that Magnotta "had been reading news about himself" when he was arrested.

BERLIN — A Canadian porn actor suspected of murdering and dismembering a Chinese student and mailing his body parts to Canada's top political parties was reading about himself on the Internet when he was arrested Monday at a cafe in Berlin.

Canadian investigators say 29-year-old Luka Magotta's obsessions led him to post Internet videos of his killing kittens, then a man, and finally to his arrest at the cafe where he had spent two hours reading media coverage of himself.

An international manhunt set off by a case of Internet gruesomeness that horrified the world ended quietly in the blue-collar Neukoelln district of the German capital where a cafe employee recognized Magnotta from a newspaper photo and flagged down a police car.

Video footage of what authorities believe to be the killing seems to show the suspect eating the body, Canadian police said Tuesday – the latest gruesome detail in a case that emerged when a package containing a severed foot was opened at Canada's ruling Conservative Party Headquarters on May 29.

BEIJING, June 5, 2012 (AFP) - A Chinese student who was dismembered in a murder allegedly perpetrated by a Canadian porn actor was not his lover, media reports quoted his friends as saying Tuesday, amid rumours the two were dating.

The Chinese reports said Lin Jun, a “polite” and popular 33-year-old, was in a relationship with another man when he met his death, allegedly at the hands of Luka Rocco Magnotta who was arrested in Berlin on Monday after a frantic global manhunt.

The case has drawn worldwide attention after a video purportedly showing the murder surfaced online, showing a man repeatedly stabbing another man with an ice pick and dismembering him, as a song from the film “American Psycho” plays in the background.

Lin reportedly came from Wuhan city in central China's Hubei province, and was said to have gone to Montreal to study at Concordia University's School of Engineering and Computer Science last July.

Zhang Chaoyi, a friend, was quoted as saying by the Global Times newspaper that he had a lot of “friends and admirers.” He denied reports that Lin and Magnotta -- a 29-year-old dubbed the “Canadian Psycho” -- were lovers.

“He couldn't have been in a relationship or living together as a lover with Magnotta, since all his stuff was found in his apartment in Canada after he was killed,” Zhang said.

MONTREAL — Police confirmed Tuesday they have video evidence Luka Rocco Magnotta, accused of the grisly murder of a Chinese national studying in Montreal, may have eaten some of his victim before sending parts in the mail to political parties.

Investigators also said the right foot, right leg and the head of Lin Jun, 33, are still missing. And several police forces are studying unresolved crimes to see whether Magnotta may be implicated, but nothing has been confirmed yet.

On Tuesday, a human hand and a foot were discovered in Vancouver, each one mailed to a different school in that city. Vancouver police have not linked them to Magnotta.

An old friend had a situation with his wife. She was a fun gal- but very stable. They had toddlers and seemed happy. She started drinking heavily, inappropriate behavior started. Then she started cheating and screwed up her job too.
Lied to everyone- but didn't care if she got caught. After six months she left him for an alcoholic loser, didn't care to see her kids at all.
She disappeared. He was baffled!
A year later- she was dead from a brain tumour!

They have a lot of niche forums and are liberal. He had posted in their GBLT group (gay bi lesbian transgengendered) all sorts of innapropriate stuff about a relationship. Most posters their are pretty serious- they talk about legislation, discrimination or the challenges of "coming out" . I only read one post, and it was bizarrely self centered and quite graphic. He totally stood out as an oddball.
It appeared he only posted 5-6 times before they booted him, but he included his real name and modeling pics of himself. People were flabbergasted- to say the least!

When this first hit the media it was interesting to note that when the Police asked that the video be removed from the internet that it was removed from the US servers immediately. However, there are still some hold out servers in Canada that claim that this video is important to keep as a way to study and understand this man. They also claim that the public has a right to see and know what people are capable of. The Video was hideous.

I do have to say that disturbing movies like SAW etc.. you can put in a box in your mind somewhere and it becomes benign... this is something different... and really I can only say that it is not something to do lightly or without a great deal of forethought.. Not recommended viewing for sure!

I am frightened by Luka Magnotta, but not because he is a suspected necrophiliac cannibal killer. He creeps me out because I can’t shake the suspicion that he doesn’t really like killing people and then violating their corpses. I fear that (if guilty), he did it just for the attention.

Canadian teacher who showed gore video fired

A Canadian high school teacher who showed his students an 11-minute video of a man being stabbed and dismembered has lost his job, according to a statement issued Thursday by the school.

“The teacher’s unacceptable (decision to show the video) demanded an unequivocal decision,” the statement said.

The male teacher at École Cavelier-De Lasalle in Montreal was suspended on June 4 after showing the video during a history and citizenship class. In an online statement released Wednesday, the school said the teacher, who had apologized by email, would be allowed to tell his version of events.

The murderer in the video never shows his face, maybe Magnotta intends to say that it isn't him in the video. The only other defense is to claim insanity which I might believe in this case.

Magnotta landlord: Police called asking about him just weeks before killing

MONTREAL - Police were hot on Luka Rocco Magnotta's trail just weeks before he allegedly killed and dismembered university student Jun Lin, according to a former landlord.

Canadian law enforcement had tracked the 29-year-old porn actor and stripper to a Montreal apartment building as recently as March, says Magnotta's former landlord.

He said a police detective phoned asking about Magnotta. But the query came too late — Magnotta had moved out about two weeks earlier.

While they never explained why they were calling, Toronto police have stated that they had already been investigating Magnotta on allegations of animal cruelty for more than a year.

According to the landlord, they nearly found him.

"I think they were on to this guy," said the superintendent, as he stood in front of the apartment building in the city's blue-collar Point St. Charles district. He spoke on condition of anonymity.
