Police are searching for an 11-year-old boy who was last seen leaving his Mississauga, Ont. school on Monday afternoon.

Shaundrey Knight-Bryce was last seen leaving Darcel Avenue Senior Public School, and walking in the direction of his Goreway Drive home shortly after at 3 p.m.

The Grade 6 student's mother reached out to family and friends and conducted her own search after he failed to come home.

She notified police when the boy was still missing at approximately 9 p.m., Peel Regional Police Const. Fiona Thivierge told media on Tuesday. Thivierge spoke at a police command post set up near Goreway and Morning Star drives.

MISSISSAUGA - An 11-year-old Mississauga boy missing since Monday night has been found safe.

Peel Regional Police confirmed that Shaundrey Knight-Bryce was located in the Jane St. and Finch Ave. area of Toronto Tuesday afternoon. The boy previously lived there before moving to Mississauga with his family less than a year ago.

Police say the boy made his way to the area by himself last night. He was found when someone saw media reports about him and contacted Toronto Police.
