Anjelica Hadsell, known as AJ to family and friends, was last seen by a neighbor driving her car towards her parents' home on March 2nd in Norfolk, Virginia. A neighbor reported seeing AJ driving "with purpose" and then saw a white four-door vehicle following about a minute behind her. That same white car was then seen in the family's driveway, according to AJ's father. The college freshman, who was home on spring break from Longwood University, had recently had problems with someone she knew.

"She was telling and texting her cousin and her friends she was having these issues with him and he wouldn't leave her alone," Wesley Hadsell told Dateline. "She was scared of a situation."

NORFOLK, Va. (WRIC) — Today marks two weeks since anyone has seen missing Longwood University student Anjelica Hadsell.

Her family is once again asking for help finding her and they’re now saying they believe she was taken against her will.

Family and friends of Hadsell have confirmed to 8News sister station WAVY-TV 10 that the missing 18-year-old was on alert and scared of a certain person before her disappearance on March 2.

Hadsell communicated that information to her cousin and best friend between Feb. 13 and the day she vanished. Text messages sent by Hadsell to friends in late February about the person said, “I should probably stop texting him back,” and “HELP.”

Father of missing college student Anjelica Hadsell arrested

NORFOLK, Va. -- The father of a missing Longwood University student has been arrested, but police have not indicated whether the charges are related to the search for his daughter, reports the Virginian-Pilot.

Wesley Hadsell, whose daughter Anjelica "AJ" Hadsell has been missing since March 2, had his first court appearance Monday. He is charged with obstructing justice, burglary and possession of ammunition by a felon.

Norfolk, Va., police spent hours on March 21 combing a swampy, wooded area for the missing 18-year-old, the Virginian-Pilot reports.

Norfolk police arrested the father of a missing Virginia teen on Saturday after he broke into a home and punched a dog.

Wesley Hadsell, 36, said he was looking for clues in the disappearance of his 18-year-old daughter, Anjelica, who went missing March 2. He's convinced Anjelica was kidnapped, and broke into the home of the person he believes took his daughter against her will, police said.

"I want my daughter home," Hadsell told WAVY. "That's what I want, and that's all I want. Anybody who wants to say something about that or get in the way of that, then I'm sorry. So what, some ways are unorthodox. I didn't have anything to do with her disappearance. I don't know where she's at."

Missing university student's father was trying to interfere with probe, prosecutor says

A Virginia prosecutor told a judge Friday the stepfather of a university student missing since March 2 was “seeking to impede” the police investigation into the woman's disappearance.

Police have accused Wesley Hadsell, 36, a convicted felon, of breaking into the home of a person Norfolk police questioned in the disappearance of his stepdaughter. Anjelica (AJ) Hadsell, 18, vanished nearly four weeks ago while home on spring break from freshman classes at Longwood University in Virginia.

Prosecutor Ashley Coleman said at a bond hearing for Hadsell that after breaking into the person’s home March 6, Hadsell punched a dog there, the Virginian-Pilot in Norfolk reported Saturday. Coleman said Hadsell threatened several police witnesses with violence and harassed one with an air horn.

Virginia Police Search Pond After Tip in Teen Disappearance Case

A  new tip in the case of an 18-year-old college student who has been missing for a month led police to search a pond about 40 miles away from the coastal Virginia town of Norfolk, where she was last seen.

Anjelica "AJ" Hadsell was last seen on March 2, according to the Norfolk Police Department. On Friday, authorities searched a pond in Carrsville, Virginia after receiving a tip, according to ABC affiliate WVEC-TV.

Carrsville resident Steven Hines told WVEC-TV that he saw divers in the water but didn't know what they were searching for.

Hines also said police showed him a photo of a white van, which he had seen drive through the area twice about a week and a half ago, WVEC-TV reports.

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Family and friends of Anjelica Hadsell have confirmed to 10 On Your Side the missing 18-year-old was on alert and scared of a certain person before her disappearance on March 2.

Hadsell communicated that information to her cousin and best friend between Feb. 13 and the day she vanished. Text messages sent by Hadsell to friends in late February about the person said, “I should probably stop texting him back,” and “HELP.”

“This person supposedly said that he wanted to hang out, and she said she didn’t think it was a good idea,” said Chelsey Zirkle, who had multiple conversations with Hadsell both by phone and in person. “She was more worried that this person would maybe do something, and this person is the person we kind of suspect did something.”

“She was scared of a situation, and we didn’t know about it,” Mr. Hadsell said. He told WAVY.com he believes he knows at least one person who is involved.

“She didn’t go on her own,” Mr. Hadsell said. “She’s not just sitting somewhere happy watching TV, watching this. What 18-year-old kid wouldn’t be on social media right now?”

Mr. Hadsell told 10 On Your Side police have recovered pieces of his daughter’s debit card and her jacket, which a neighbor said he saw Anjelica wearing the day of her disappearance. The Norfolk Police Department has not confirmed that information, but they did tell WAVY.com they are vetting all leads. Police say they have had detectives assigned to this case every day since it was reported.

No Closure for Family of Anjelica 'AJ' Hadsell After Remains Identified

The family of a Virginia college student is still looking for answers after her remains were found this week more than a month after she disappeared.

Police in Norfolk, Virginia, said Friday that remains found earlier in the week had been identified as Anjelica "AJ" Hadsell. She disappeared from the coastal community on March 2 while home from spring break.

"In time we'll heal, but it's a long road ahead of us," her uncle, Drew Hadsell, told ABC affiliate WVEC-TV. "There's no closure. There's no closing that door."

The remains were found in Southampton County, Virginia, on Thursday, police said, and were sent to the Chief Medical Examiner's Office to be identified and to determine the cause of death.

No arrests related to the case have been made. The investigation into her death is ongoing, police said Friday.

The human remains found Thursday beside an abandoned home in Virginia are those of missing university student Anjelica “AJ” Hadsell, police said Saturday.

In a news release, Norfolk Police officials said the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner had positively identified the remains as those of Hadsell, an 18-year-old freshman at Longwood University who had been missing since March 2.

AJ's parents reported her missing the evening of March 3. Police said she was last seen on that date around 5:30 a.m. at her parents' Norfolk home.

Residents told the Virginian-Pilot newspaper that police began searching the property of the abandoned home, south of Franklin, Va., about 50 miles west of Norfolk, Wednesday evening, then returned Thursday morning.

Anjelica "AJ" Hadsell's family, friends and community gathered Sunday morning to play softball, less than two days after learning she'd died.

Joshua Campbell, Hadsell's boyfriend, said it was a fitting tribute. The two met on a softball field.

"It was something she did and she loved," Campbell said. "We know she's with us right now and we want to see her smile."

The tournament to raise money for Hadsell's funeral expenses was held on the Little Creek National Pony Baseball League fields next to her home in the Tarrallton area.

Human Remains Confirmed to Be Missing Teenager Anjelica Hadsell

Police in Norfolk, Virginia, say they uncovered the remains of 18-year-old Anjelica "AJ" Hadsell, who disappeared on March 2.

The search for the missing college student led police to a Southampton County home, where they found human remains outside a shed in the backyard, according to local TV station WAVY.

Police said that a tip brought them to the home on Thursday.

Brian Potts, who lives near the residence, told WAVY that it was hard to miss the large police presence on the scene. It's "extremely out of place because nobody lived in this place for at least two years," he explained, "and no one has been here since a month or two after that."

Norfolk, Va. – In several interviews with television stations and on an Internet podcast, the adoptive father of missing college student AJ Hadsell repeatedly spoke of her in the past tense, even though no one at the time knew she was dead.

Several law enforcement sources are telling NewsChannel 3 that investigators have noted the numerous times Wesley Hadsell spoke of his daughter that way, saying it could be a revealing clue.

Anjelica “AJ” Hadsell disappeared in Norfolk on March 2 while on spring break from Longwood University. For weeks, Wesley Hadsell and others organized searches for her until police arrested him. Police told NewsChannel 3 that he was interfering with their investigation. They haven’t disclosed exactly how.

NORFOLK -- Hundreds of people gathered Saturday to remember Anjelica "AJ" Hadsell and to offer their condolences to her family.

Police recovered the remains of 18-year-old Hadsell in Southampton County April 9.

Hadsell, a Longwood University freshman, went missing March 2. She had been home from college on Spring Break.

Her memorial service was held at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home on Tidewater Drive.
