Child Found In Home With Dead Dad


AUSTELL, Ga. -- A 5-year-old girl was found at an Austell home Friday morning, alone with the body of her father, who police believe had been shot to death.

A family member found the body of Jeremy McClendon, 25, Friday morning at his home on Millstone Court and called police. His family told police they had not heard from McClendon for two days.

"Jeremy was such a great, wonderful father," one neighbor told Channel 2 Action News reporter Ross Cavitt. "That's all he lived for, was his daughter."

Another neighbor said McClendon had been robbed about a year ago.

Cobb County investigators think they know who killed an Austell man in front of his 5-year-old daughter. But that suspect is no longer alive.

"This individual is no longer a threat to society," said Cobb District Attorney Pat Head.

..."Mr. McClendon was a low-level dealer in marijuana," Head said.

Austell slaying case closed

AUSTELL - The investigation into the slaying of an Austell man is closed now that the man accused in the crime has also been killed in New Jersey, according to authorities.

Anthony Kennebrew, 27, of Trenton, N.J., was found shot to death on Aug. 27. Kennebrew's death was drug-related, Cobb District Attorney Pat Head said.

"Another drug deal went bad," he said.
