Tiffany Tehan -- Found Alive 4/22/10 N1127410

Beavercreek, Ohio - Police are calling the disappearance of Tiffany Tehan as suspicious. Tiffany is 31-years old and has been missing since Saturday morning, April 17, 2010. She is from Xenia and was on a shopping trip by herself when she disappeared. She had planned to go to a mommy sale at the Kettering Rec Center. She was last seen at The Greene shopping center in Beavercreek at about 11:00 am on Saturday.

Tiffany's husband, David Tehan reported her missing to the Xenia Police Division at approximately 9:00 pm on Saturday night. Police located her vehicle, with a flat tire at Indian Riffle Park in Kettering on Sunday morning. The doors were locked and the keys were in the car. Although Xenia Police are handling the investigation, they are receiving assistance from numerous police agencies, including Beavercreek and Kettering.

Tiffany has a 1-year old daughter, but the baby was not with her and is safe at home with Mr. Tehan. Several friends have indicated that this is highly unusual for Tiffany and suspect foul play. The Tehan's are members of the Patterson Park Church and Tiffany is a graduate of Cedarville University, a Baptist college in Greene County, Ohio.

Flyers are being distributed in the area where her vehicle was found. According to Amber Rohrer, volunteers will be assembling at Patterson Park Church, 3655 East Patterson Road, Beavercreek, Ohio at 10am on Monday to distribute additional flyers. Prayer groups were also being assembled via social networking sites such as Facebook.

Tiffany is 5'6", 150lbs, Brown Hair, Blue Eyes. She also has a rose tattoo on her left hip.

If you have information on the whereabouts of Tiffany Tehan, please call the Xenia Police at 937-376-7200, or call 9-1-1.

Xenia mother still missing after heading to Kettering ‘mommy sale’

Updated 3:36 PM Monday, April 19, 2010

Tiffany Tehan -- Found Alive 4/22/10 Ddn04110

XENIA — Police continued to search Monday morning for a 31-year-old Cedarville University graduate who disappeared after heading to a ‘mommy sale’ in Kettering.

Tiffany Tehan was last seen shopping at The Greene in Beavercreek around 11 a.m. Saturday, April 17.

Her abandoned Ford Explorer was found at 9 a.m. Sunday at Indian Riffle Park, 2801 E. Stroop Road, Kettering, Xenia police Capt. Scott Anger said.

The mother of a 1-year-old daughter had planned a day of garage sale shopping and was to stop at a consignment sale at the Kettering Recreation Center near the park, he said.

Tehan’s husband reported her missing at about 9 p.m. Saturday.

“There is no reason that anyone could give us that she would not have come home last night,” Anger said. “At this point everyone is concerned that this is out of character for her.”

Tracy Staley of Dayton, a family friend and fellow congregant at Patterson Park Church in Beavercreek, said friends and family members are conducting searches and distributing flyers.

“The main thing is that we just want to get the word out,” Staley said.

Anger said police have searched the park and are conducting interviews in hopes of finding Tehan.

No obvious reason for her disappearance has been discovered, he said, noting that police are looking for clues in her SUV.

Tehan, who works at Nationwide Insurance, has a rose tattoo on her left hip. She has brown hair and blue eyes.

Anyone with information about her disappearance is asked to call Xenia police at (937) 376-7200.

Contact this reporter at (937) 225-2384 or arobinson@DaytonDailyNews.com.

Xenia mother still missing; police getting tips from public

Updated 11:22 AM Tuesday, April 20, 2010

XENIA - Leads so far have come up cold in the disappearance of Tiffany Tehan despite 20-plus tips from the public, an army of local volunteers handing out fliers, traditional and social media alerts and police work in two cities.

The 31-year-old Xenia woman and mother of a 1-year-old daughter has not been seen or heard from since calling her husband after shopping at The Greene in Beavercreek on Saturday morning.

“We’re just looking into all of our evidence and where that might lead us,” Xenia police Capt. Scott Anger said Monday, April 19. “We don’t have, at this particular time, anything that points us in any direction.”

David Tehan expected his wife home by about 2 p.m. Saturday so they could go to a cookout with friends at 3:30 p.m. that day. Instead, repeated phone calls went directly to her voice mail.

“It’s a complete mystery to me,” David Tehan said. “Never in a million years would I expect anything to happen like that. She’s out shopping and now she’s gone. And we don’t know where.”

About 75 friends and members of Patterson Park Church in Beavercreek passed out fliers with a physical description of the 2002 Cedarville University graduate in several locations, including at The Greene and at Indian Riffle Park on East Stroop Road in Kettering, where Tehan’s green Ford Explorer was found at 9 a.m. Sunday.

The vehicle was found locked with the keys inside and with a flat tire. Anger said nothing about the vehicle suggests a struggle.

A Facebook page called Help Find Tiffany grew exponentially up to more than 10,000 members by 9 p.m. Monday night.

“Anything anybody might know or have seen or have heard or even that they think they might have seen or heard, no matter how small, whatever kind of a detail it might be, please contact the police with that,” David Tehan said Monday afternoon. “They are doing a very thorough investigation and they need that information to be able to find Tiffany.”

Xenia police can be reached at (937) 376-7200.

Police said missing mom seen with unidentified man

04/20/2010 Updated 2:22pm

Tiffany Tehan -- Found Alive 4/22/10 Missin11

Police are looking for this man described as a person of interest in connection with the disappearance of Tiffany Tehan, a 31-year-old local mother. She was seen with a man on several occasions during the month of March and April at a convenience store in east Dayton.

XENIA — The disappearance of Tiffany Tehan took a sharp turn today, April 20, when Xenia police announced they are looking for a man described as a person of interest in connection with the 31-year-old mother.

Tehan has been seen on several occasions during the month of March and April at the Circle K on Watervliet Avenue in east Dayton where she was seen with an unidentified man, who sports a goatee and long hair and drives a late model red Volkswagon Beetle and sometimes has a German Shepherd dog inside.

Police released a surveillance video and photos of the two for possible identification.

Tiffany’s husband, David, said Xenia police showed him the surveillance video late Monday night, and he said he was shocked by what he saw. He does not know the man or anything about the situation. The male subject is not known to Tiffany’s family and friends.

David Tehan said he has a simple message to his wife seen with the man in the video.

“I don’t care what’s going on there,” he said. “I love you, and if there’s anyway that you know that you can come back, please do.”

Asked for his thoughts upon seeing the photo, Tehan said: “I’d really prefer not to comment on that, actually.”

Tehan did praise the efforts of hundreds of volunteers fanning out across the Kettering and Beavercreek area with fliers regarding his wife’s disappearance.

Tiffany has not been heard from or seen by her husband, friends and family since a Saturday shopping trip to The Greene in Beavercreek and a planned “Mommy Sale” at the Kettering Recreation Center. David Tehan said he last her from his wife about 11 a.m. Saturday.

Her abandoned Ford Explorer was found at 9 a.m. Sunday at Indian Riffle Park, 2801 E. Stroop Road, Kettering. The SUV was found locked with the keys inside and with a flat tire. Police said nothing about the vehicle suggests a struggle.

Tehan said he’s tried calling Tiffany’s cell phone again today, but that it always goes to voice mail. He said the photo gives him hope.

“It makes me hope that there could be more to this,” he said. “That this might not be totally random.”

Xenia police Capt. Scott Anger said they hope the video will help.

“We are releasing video of Tiffany and the unknown male subject to the media for possible identification,” Anger said.

Tiffany is 5 feet 6 inches, and has brown hair and blue eyes. She has also a rose tattoo on her left hip.

Any person who knows the identity of the man in the video should contact the Xenia police at (937) 372-9901.

‘Clients love her.’

Kevin Murphy, owner of Murphy & Associates Agency Inc., 2412 S. Smithville Road, said he hired Tehan as an associate four years ago. “She’s the type of person you hope you never lose. Clients love her,” he said.

There are only four employees, and Murphy is the only male, so whoever she was with is not an employee. Murphy’s business is just around the corner from the Circle K, where Tiffany was seen with the unidentified man.

Though earlier reports described Tiffany as a Nationwide Insurance employee, Murphy said his business is not part of Nationwide, but has a contract to sell Nationwide products. He said he and the other employees have been helping with the searches for Tiffany the last two nights.

Clients and business associates have been asking about Tiffany, Murphy said.

“Everybody is really concerned about this girl,” Murphy said. “She’s a very, very, very well-liked individual. Bad things shouldn’t happen to good people.”

Volunteers still wage search team effort

As news broke of the surveillance video, friends and strangers gathered Tuesday morning at Patterson Park Church in Beavercreek to begin their third day looking for Tiffany.

As a 30-year-old woman pregnant with her first child, Emily Radcliffe said she felt compelled to join the search team.

“It has been heavy on my heart ever since I saw it on Facebook,” said Radcliffe, who graduated a year after Tehan at Cedarville University. “I wanted to put my faith into action and try to do something to help out.”

Radcliffe was one of dozens of volunteers who met at the church. People were given maps, fliers and instructions to spread the word to everyone they could about Tiffany’s disappearance.

A Facebook page, called Help Find Tiffany, has grown exponentially up to more than 18,100 members by 2 p.m. Tuesday.

Liz Wrigglesworth, a staff member at Patterson Park Church, 3655 E. Patterson Road, is helping coordinate the search. She said more than 13,000 fliers were distributed on Monday and thousands more were being printed on today.

Wrigglesworth, who works with Tehan in the children’s ministry, said gathering maps, fliers and people and putting a search into action has been a challenge: “It’s a learn-as-you-go experience, because we’ve never done it before.”

Radcliffe, who came to the church alone, was paired up with Lorraine Lee, a Beavercreek resident who also is not a member of Patterson Park.

Lee saw news reports about Tehan’s disappearance and is not surprised that people with no real connection to the church or family have joined the search.

“I think because it’s local and she’s a young mother,” Lee said. “I’m not employed right now and I just felt that this is a good use of my time.”

A prayer vigil has been scheduled from 5:30 to 6 p.m. today at the church and will be followed by volunteers resuming their search efforts.

UPDATE: Person of interest identified in Tehan disappearance
Missing woman was seen with Tre B. Hutcherson on several occasions at convenience store

Tiffany Tehan -- Found Alive 4/22/10 18356410

A person of interest has been identified in the case of a former Hillsboro woman who disappeared near Kettering over the weekend.

Police are searching for Tre B. Hutcherson, of Dayton, who authorities say has been missing for several days and may be with Tiffany (Tabor) Tehan, 31, of Xenia.

Tehan has been missing since Saturday, when her family told authorities that she never came home from a shopping trip.

According to the Xenia Police Department, Tehan's vacant vehicle was discovered at a skate park near Stroop Road in Kettering Sunday morning.

On Tuesday, the XPD said that Tehan was seen with the man identified as Hutcherson on several occasions during the months of March and April at a convenience store in the area.

Hutcherson, who police said is not known to Tehan's family and friends, is shown in a surveillance video wearing a red polo shirt, with mid-length dark hair and a goatee. A release late Tuesday from the XPD states that Tehan and Hutcherson "could be using his 1999 Volkswagen Beetle, Ohio license plate number EVQ9018.

Homeland Credit 2057789

"They have been seen multiple times in surveillance where they've come into the convenience store. They do appear to be together," Anger said.

"At this point, we're keeping everything open and following this latest lead. These things are out of character for Tiffany ... in the interviews we have conducted with family members and friends, no one knew anything about this man. At this point, we don't know."

A Web site that was up Tuesday morning, www.tiffanytehan.org, includes information about Tehan, a photo of her, a picture from the surveillance video, and says:

"Tiffany (Tabor) Tehan of Xenia, Ohio went shopping on Saturday, April 17, 2010 at a popular outdoor shopping mall, The Greene, in Beavercreek, Ohio," the Web site states. "She called her husband between 10:30 and 11 a.m.

That was the last contact with her. She was believed to have been going to a 'mommy sale' at a Kettering recreation center in Kettering, Ohio in very close proximity to the shopping mall. Her green/blue Ford Explorer was found on Sunday, April 18, 2010 in a park parking lot in close proximity to the recreation center and the shopping mall."

Man associated with Tehan's disappearance identified
By Nick Zeigler - Reporter @ April 20, 2010 9:44 PM
WHIO Local News

DAYTON, Ohio -- Xenia police now have a name for a man associated with the disappearance of Xenia mother Tiffany Tehan.

Captain Scott Anger says a man seen accompanying Tehan several times in the past weeks has now been identified as Tre Hutcherson of Dayton. Hutcherson has also been missing since the time of Tehan's disappearance.

Cops don't know where Hutcherson could be heading, but think Tehan may be with him. Anger said the two are believed to be using Hutcherson's red 1999 Volkswagen Beetle with the license plate EVQ 9018.

Tehan, 31, hasn't been heard from since calling her husband Saturday morning while shopping at the Greene. Tehan told him she planned to shop at several garage sales, but never returned home.

Her Ford Explorer was found Sunday with a flat tire and the keys locked inside at Indian Riffle Park in Kettering.

Hutcherson was identified Tuesday as a person of interest after police found surveillance video showing him with Tehan at several locations since March. Tehan's family told police they had never seen Hutcherson before.

Tehan is 5' 6" with brown hair and blue eyes and has a rose tattoo on her left hip.

Any person with knowledge of Tehan or Hutcherson's location is asked to call the Xenia Police Department at (937) 372-9901.

National news networks report on missing Xenia woman

Updated 8:01 AM Wednesday, April 21, 2010

BEAVERCREEK - National news networks interviewed Xenia police and family members of Tiffany Tehan at Patterson Park Church, 3655 East Patterson Road, on Wednesday morning.

"Good Morning America," "The Today Show," "The Early Show," and MSNBC all provided coverage.

"We just miss Tiffany so much and can't wait to see her," her husband David Tehan told "The Early Show" while the couple's 1-year-old daughter squirmed on his lap and sucked her thumb.

David Tehan also said he would be shocked if his wife left willingly with Tre B. Hutcherson, a man police are calling a person of interest.

"I've never seen this person before. I don't know what the connection is," David Tehan said.

Tiffany Tehan went missing Saturday, April 17, after a solo shopping trip.

Xenia police Capt. Scott Anger said they are monitoring all avenues, including cell phones and credit cards.

"This is not our only lead, but it is the one we are exploring," Anger said.

Chuck Tabor, Tiffany Tehan's father, talked to CNN's Nancy Grace on Tuesday night. During the segment, Grace asked Tabor about any connection Tiffany might have with Hutcherson.

"I did not recognize the man in the picture, and that name is an unfamiliar name," Tabor said.

Pastor Joe Godwin said he doesn't know Tiffany Tehan very well, but she has been a member of the church for several years. She and her husband have both come from solid Christian households, Godwin said. Tiffany Tehan and her husband met at Cedarville University, and David Tehan's husband's parents are missionaries, Godwin said.

The church community was surprised to hear about Hutcherson, according to Godwin.

Hutcherson was identified as a person of interest on Tuesday when police released photos of Tehan and Hutcherson from two weeks ago at a convenience store.

"Nobody knows him", Godwin said referring to Hutcherson. Church leadership learned about Hutcherson through local news media reports. Godwin said right now the mood of the church is of concern for Tiffany Tehan.

Godwin estimates that there have been at least 20,000 flyers distributed telling of Tiffany Tehan's dissappearance. Volunteers have also started to contact hotels along I-75.

"We're just doing everything we can to find her and bring her home safely," Godwin said.

DAYTON — Police are looking for Tre B. Hutcherson, 42, of Dayton, as a person of interest in the disappearance of Xenia mother Tiffany Tehan.

Hutcherson, who has been missing for several days, drives a 1999 red Volkswagen Beetle with an Ohio license plate No. EVQ9018, according to police.

“We believe that he may know the whereabouts of Tiffany or it’s possible that they are together,” Xenia police Capt. Scott Anger said.

Xenia police had no new updates on the whereabouts of Tehan and Hutcherson as of 6:20 a.m. Wednesday,. April 21. There is no indication that there is foul play, or any crimes committed by either Hutcherson or Tehan, Anger said.

The FBI has been called in to help with the investigation.

A $5,000 reward is being offered through tiffanytehan.org for information leading to the safe return of Tiffany Tehan to her family.

A woman who answered the door at Hutcherson’s residence and identified herself as his wife said he took $2,000 from their bank account.

“Obviously they are together,” she said. “(Hutcherson) wouldn’t hurt Tiffany.”

This is so weird. Obviously she has a lot of people that love her very much. She looks very happy with that beautiful baby.

Questions: Did she choose to go away with this guy? Did he force her to go? Why would she willingly leave her baby?

I can't imagine just walking away from the baby...

Police find car linked to missing mom

POLICE: Car was driven since Tehan disappeared

Updated: Wednesday, 21 Apr 2010, 8:17 PM EDT
Sonu Wasu & Kris Sproles

XENIA, Ohio (WDTN) - A viewer tip led police to a Volkswagen bug linked to a missing mother from Xenia.

Police found Tre Hutcherson's car Wednesday afternoon in Harrison Township, but will not disclose the exact location.

They believe Hutcherson had driven the car since Tiffany Tehan was reported missing on Saturday.

Also Wednesday, the FBI joined the nationwide search for Tiffany Tehan.

The local grassroots effort to find Tehan turned into a nationwide manhunt after surveillance pictures were released showing her with Tre Hutcherson of Creighton Avenue in Dayton.

Xenia police said they believed Tehan was with Hutcherson.

Tehan went shopping on Saturday, and never came home.

Her vehicle was found abandoned at Indian Riffle Park on Sunday morning with a flat tire and the keys were still in the ignition.

Family members told 2 News they had never heard of Tre Hutcherson before.

Hutcherson's wife told police he had also been missing for a few days, but she did not file a missing persons report.

His wife said, along with her husband, $2,000 was also missing from their bank account.

2 News stopped by Hutcherson's Creighton Avenue home on Wednesday, but no one was home.

Neighbors said the couple moved to the area about four years ago from Sacramento California, but his association with Tiffany Tehan remained a mystery.

Tehan's parents said seeing pictures of their daughter with Hutcherson brought about mixed feelings.

"The hope is she's alive somewhere, but it's also a lot of questions you know," said Tehan's father, Chuck Tabor.

Police said they would be monitoring the couple's credit cards and phones.

If you have any information that will help police find Tiffany Tehan, call the Xenia police department's tip line at 937-372-990.

A Hillsboro bank is now offering a $5,000 reward to anyone who can help bring Tiffany home.

I can't imagine a mother leaving her child and running off with another man. She may later regret her actions, which may cause her to be denied custody of the child.

Police to talk about Xenia mom's disappearance

Updated 8:09 AM Thursday, April 22, 2010

XENIA — Police are expected to hold a press conference Thursday morning in regards to the disappearance of Tiffany Tehan, according to Capt. Scott Anger.

The announcement of the press conference was made late Wednesday, April 21, after Xenia police got word that a 1999 Red Volkswagen Beetle had been located in North Dayton area, according to a press release issued by Anger.

“We still do not have Tiffany Tehan or Tre Hutcherson located at this time,” Anger said.

The press conference is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. at the city building on East Market Street.

Tehan, 31, of Xenia, went missing Saturday, April 17 during a solo shopping trip.

There were no new updates on the whereabouts of Tehan, a wife and mother, or Tre B. Hutcherson, the man who owns the Volkswagen, as of 6:45 a.m. Thursday, April 22.

When asked about the press conference, Tiffany’s husband David Tehan said Thursday morning, “I’d prefer not to comment at this time.”

Police had been searching for the car since Tuesday, when police released surveillance video images of Hutcherson, 42, and Tehan at a Watervilet Avenue convenience store.

Police learned that Hutcherson and Tehan had visited the store frequently in the last few weeks. Hutcherson lives a few blocks from the store, while Tehan works at an insurance agency a few doors away from the store.

Xenia police, acting on information from a WHIO-TV viewer, found the car Wednesday at a car lot along North Dixie Drive in Harrison Twp., Xenia police Capt. Doug Doherty said.

“We believe them to be in a different vehicle now,” Doherty said.

The Volkswagen was being stored an at undisclosed location Wednesday night, he said. He declined to let news crews take photos or video of the car.

Police do not suspect foul play. Still, Doherty stressed that police are still seeking tips and other information on Hutcherson and Tehan. Xenia police can be reached at (937) 376-7200.

Well, it looks like the sheriff is most likely going to announce she did run off with him. It's a shame she would leave her little Lexi like that, I can't imagine what could be more important to a woman than her one year old baby. She broke her parents heart as well. I'm glad they feel there is no foul play and she's unharmed. But she's made quite a foolish choice.

Missing Xenia mom found safe, police say
Tiffany Tehan's husband says she made mistakes, but he does not blame her.

Updated 12:32 PM Thursday, April 22, 2010

XENIA - Missing wife and mother Tiffany Tehan and Tre Hutcherson were romantically involved, according to statements made to Miami Beach officers who found the two missing people unharmed.

Her husband David today said he "absolutely" forgave her, didn't blame her for her mistakes, wants to see his marriage continue and said what comes next is up to her.

David Tehan reported his wife missing Saturday, April 17, touching off a story that captured national media attention. Her vehicle was found abandoned on Sunday with a flat tire and the keys inside.

On Monday, Hutcherson became considered a person of interest in Tiffany Tehan's disappearance after surveillance photos surfaced of the two together in a convenience store from two weeks ago.

"Tiffany is safe and has now been in contact with her family. She is no longer considered a possibly endangered missing," a police statement read.

Members of Tiffany Tehan's family talked to the media about 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the Patterson Park Church in Beavercreek.

David Tehan said he spoke with his wife Wednesday night.

"She is doing fine. She is doing well," he said. "It was a short conversation."

He does not know how to respond to the news his wife was found with another man.

“It’s supernatural,” he said.

"She may have made some mistakes, but everyone does and I can't blame her for that," he said. "I have no idea what we're hoping for. A lot of that is up to her."

David Tehan said he feels anger toward Hutcherson, but said he didn't know him at all, and he is mystified by his wife's decision to run away with Hutcherson.

"Things were normal. Things were good. It's hard to understand how this could have happened in light of that," David Tehan said.

Tiffany Tehan told Miami Beach detectives that she left Ohio voluntarily “with the intent of starting a new life,” according to police.

Acting on information received from Xenia police, Miami Beach detectives stopped a vehicle with Hutcherson and Tehan inside on Wednesday night, April 21, Miami Beach Sgt. Wayne Jones said Thursday.

The two had been staying at the International Inn hotel and were apparently returning to the hotel when police found them, Jones said.

Tiffany Tehan’s statements to detectives revealed a “romantic” relationship between the two, Jones said.

Mike Brooks, spokesman for the Cincinnati FBI office, said Thursday that he did not know where Tiffany Tehan and Hutcherson were.

“They are not under arrest,” Brooks said. “They are not in custody.”

While local officials would review the case to see if state charges could be filed against the two, “they will not be charged with any federal crime,” Brooks said.

The FBI was withdrawing from the investigation because there has been no kidnapping.

“She has not been kidnapped,” Brooks said. “She was not harmed. She was not in any physical danger.”

I agree AJ, LE did an outstanding job. As did her family and friends, the entire community and media. She needs to sincerely thank all of those people, and apologize as well. And maybe even pay back some of these resources for the cost involved.

It looks like hubby's already forgiven her. He must be a saint or he's still in shock. I heard her father say on the news this morning that she wanted to come home. I wonder if she'll be sporting a tan or did they just spend all of their time in the room?

As for the boyfriend's wife, I feel bad for her as well. He was unemployed, apparently enjoyed spending a lot of time in the convenience store buying coffee and picking up women. I wonder if Tre took Ms. Tiffany to their house while Mrs. Tre was working? They only live a few blocks away. Even though he was able to remove the $2,000.00 from their account I'd bet that was her money, not his. I'd be more than Mad at this dude. The tangled webs we weave....... Rolling Eyes

There is no excuse... If she wanted out .. there were million better ways.. There was no excuse for her selfishness... The least she cud have done is left a Dear John letter... To leave the way she did, shows that it is Post "Sorry"Syndrome... (like KC had.. I am thankful this one didnt take her beautiful daughters life.. though)

Selfish enough to not even care enough about anoyone else to make everyone worry sick.. What a pathetic sneak!

My thoughts exactly, AJ. But then again, she may not feel a connection to her child. If there's some detachment, it's best this happened instead of something happening to her child. It seems her background was all church related, pastor's daughter, etc...maybe she was never allowed to be herself and this was her one and only way of acting out, so to speak. I hope she has intensive counseling and such before she's in charge of her little girl again. She could very well have some serious issues....other than what she just portrayed.

UPDATE: Prosecutors to consider charges against Tehan, Hutcherson

By Tom Michaels - April 23, 2010 5:47 AM

XENIA, Ohio -- The Feds won't go after them but local charges could be filed against Tiffany Tehan and Tre Hutcherson.

Police in Xenia said the young mother who disappeared five days ago did not want to be found.

Tehan and her apparent boyfriend, Hutcherson, took "evasive action" to avoid being found by family and friends, prompting a nationwide search.

Xenia cops say they'll talk with prosecutors to see what kind of action might be appropriate but the FBI will not pursue any charges.

The case caused more than 100 hours of police overtime totaling more than five grand.

Tehan, 31, was reported missing late Saturday after she failed to return home from a shopping trip. Her SUV was then found on Sunday morning abandoned with a flat tire and keys locked inside.

The story then heads to east Dayton, where Hutcherson was then labeled a person of interest in the case after surveillance video showed the two of them together at a local Circle K store.

On Wednesday night, police in Miami Beach, Florida, said they pulled over a car that matched a description that Xenia police provided. Officers said Tehan and Hutcherson were inside the car.

Xenia police Capt. Scott Anger said, "It was just good old-fashioned police work that led to it."

In the end, two Florida officers being observant tracked down Tehan. Sgt. Wayne Jones with Miami Beach Police said, "We determined that they were staying in a local motel here in Miami Beach."

Authorities in Miami Beach said the FBI contacted them early in the week to be on the lookout for Tehan and Hutcherson.

The day before Tehan disappeared, police said, Hutcherson traded his 1999 Volkswagen Beetle for a gray Chrysler Sebring. It was that vehicle that detectives stopped Wednesday night as Hutcherson and Tehan were returning in to their motel room at the International Inn.

Jones said, "They were separated and questioned. It turns out that she left voluntarily with the subject in hopes of starting a new life."

Police said they had feared the worst when they found Tehan's vehicle abandoned, but they said she and Hutcherson had planned this disappearance for some time.

Mark Batts with the FBI said this was a consensual escape.

Prosecutors issue subpoenas in Tiffany Tehan case

http://newstalkradiowhio.com/localnews/2010/04/prosecutors-issue-subpoenas-in.html

By Marc Keinath

XENIA, Ohio -- Greene County Prosecuting Attorney Stephen K. Haller and Xenia City Prosecutor Ronald C. Lewis issued subpoenas for documents involved in the case of a missing Xenia woman to determine if charges will be filed against her or her family.

Xenia authorities say over 100 hours of police overtime was spent trying to locate the 31-year old Tiffany Tehan since the investigation began Sunday. That totals up to over $5000 the city spent trying to locate the missing mother of one.

When asked if officials need to hear directly from Tehan or her family before deciding on any charges, Haller said: "We'd like that. We'd like to know what they're side of the story is, but right now we can't really force her to do anything."

The nature of the documents requested has not been determined. Files pertaining to the case will only be available to the public after the case is closed.

Runaway Ohio Mom Tiffany Tehan Likely to Go Unpunished
Missing Mom Left to 'Start a New Life,' Husband Doesn't Blame Her

http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/TheLaw/runaway-ohio-mom-tiffany-tehan-charges/story?id=10456321

By ANDREA CANNING, LEE FERRAN and RUSSELL GOLDMAN
April 23, 2010

The Ohio mother who sparked a nationwide manhunt when she ran away from home with another man is unlikely to face criminal charges, a family law expert said today.

"You have to say, 'What's the crime?'" family law attorney Michael Kretzmer told "Good Morning America" today. "[There's] no question that deception was involved, but I think that's going to be something that law enforcement's going to have a tough time, really, proving there was a crime."

Tiffany Tehan, 31, disappeared Saturday, leaving behind husband David and 1-year-old daughter Lexie. The vanishing act triggered a cross-country search until police, acting on an FBI tip, found her staying at a Miami Beach motel with Tre Hutcherson, a man police had called a person of interest in her disappearance. Police quickly determined that Tehan was not in danger.

"She left voluntarily with this fellow and drove to Miami to -- and these are her words -- start a new life," Miami Beach police Sgt. Wayne Jones said.

Kretzmer said it's possible but unlikely that Tehan will face misdemeanor charges for inciting a panic.

"I think from a practical standpoint, you have to consider whether the state has a substantial interest in going after these people," he said. "You want to discourage this kind of activity and there should be some culpability for all that occurred. But again, no crime."

No charges have been filed against Tehan or Hutcherson and Miami police said it appears no one broke any laws. Capt. Scott Anger of Ohio's Xenia Police Division Thursday called the incident a "personal, family matter."

Husband Forgives Wife Immediately

David Tehan said Thursday he was angry at Hutcherson but that he "absolutely" forgives his wife. When asked why he forgave her, Tehan said, "I don't know. It's supernatural.

"She may have made some mistakes but everyone does and I can't blame her for any of this," the husband said. "She's a person like anyone else getting through life, and it's not always easy."

Tehan said he wants his wife to come home and work out the problems in their marriage.

"There may be issues to work out, but that's OK," he said. "Issues we can work out."

During a phone call with his wife after she was discovered, she asked about Lexie and "told us she missed us," David Tehan said.

He said they had been so busy that he didn't suspect anything was wrong.

Tehan's father, Chuck Tabor, became emotional when he heard that his daughter was found unharmed Wednesday night.

"Just to know my little girl is safe is all I needed," Tabor said through tears at a news conference Thursday.

Husband of Runaway Wife Didn't Suspect Marital Problems

Ever since surveillance footage of Tehan surfaced with Hutcherson on Tuesday, police considered the possibility Tehan was a runaway and not in danger.

Tehan told police she intends to return to Ohio but it is unclear when, Miami police Sgt. Wayne Jones said.

David Tehan told "Good Morning America" Wednesday the couple was not having marital problems.

"It just seems so completely out of character. I just can't understand or believe it," he said.

Before Tehan was discovered in Miami Beach, her friends said she would never have just left her daughter.

"We're trying to leave the details and the speculation to the police," Tracy Staley said earlier this week. "That mother-child bond is unlike anything else."

David Tehan said Wednesday their daughter is "coping as well as can be expected," considering how her life has been disrupted since his wife's disappearance.

"If there's anything I could say to Tiffany," he said before she was found, "it would just be that I love you, I miss you and I can't wait to see you again."

Police released images Tuesday taken from a surveillance camera at a convenience store showing Tehan and a bearded man, later identified as Hutcherson. Police say Tehan and the man regularly visited the store together in recent weeks, but her friends and family did not recognize him.

Tehan's husband had last heard from his wife around 11 a.m. Saturday, while she made the rounds at garage sales looking for inexpensive clothing for their daughter.

Tiffany Tehan, family focus of morning services at church

Tiffany Tehan -- Found Alive 4/22/10 Ddn04210

By Kristin McAllister, Staff Writer
Updated 1:32 PM Sunday, April 25, 2010

BEAVERCREEK - The Patterson Park Church this morning, Sunday, April 25, devoted the start of services with prayers and a photo slide show of Dayton Daily News photographs set to music for the families of David and Tiffany Tehan.

The Tehan’s are the Xenia couple that has been embroiled in national media coverage since Tiffany went missing April 17, and later was found last week to be fine and in Miami Beach, Fla., with a Dayton man.

Pastor Joe Godwin welcomed the families and David Tehan to the stage, expressing on behalf of the congregation their relief that Tiffany is safe and well.

“And we’re thankful for your prayers,” he said to the congregation.

Tiffany Tehan, 31, was not in attendance. She was seen Saturday at her parents’ home in Hillsboro, but declined answering questions about her disappearance from the Miami Valley and subsequent reappearance in Florida in the company of Tre Hutcherson, 42, of Dayton.

Tiffany’s parents spoke first following the pastor’s comments, followed by the parents of David Tehan, then David, himself, each giving thanks to the congregation and community at large for their support, both with prayers, a vigil and help in organizing efforts to find Tiffany.

“We are so thankful to God to find her,” said Chuck Taber.

He asked that folks continue praying for his daughter.

David Tehan said he was deeply appreciative “for all the hard work” by congregation and community members during the search for his wife.

“We really do appreciate all your prayers,” he said.

Tehan's family and church officials declined comment.

The church said it used the Dayton Daily News photographs to tell the story, starting from when Tiffany went missing, to her being found.

The slide show started off with a photo of Tiffany and her baby daughter, followed by images of the initial days of when Tehan went missing, through the community efforts in searching for her and ending with a photo of David Tehan and the couple’s baby girl.

Hutcherson, the Dayton man with whom Tiffany was found in Florida, on Saturday said he could not talk with reporters, because “I have a contract I have to look at.”

He said the pending contract with an entity he would not identify barred him from talking.

“I was strictly warned not to speak to anyone by an attorney and the people working on this,” he said by telephone Saturday.

Hutcherson and Tehan disappeared Saturday, April 17 after Tehan told her husband she was on a shopping trip to find clothes for the couple’s 1-year-old daughter. The family’s vehicle was discovered the next day at Indian Ripple Park with a flat tire and the keys locked inside. The discovery launched an area-wide search and captured national attention.

Hutcherson and Tehan were discovered by police Thursday staying in a Miami Beach, Fla., motel.

Hutcherson, who is married, said he returned to the Dayton area over the weekend. He has consistently declined to say whether Tehan returned with him.

Hutcherson said he will be speaking to Greene County and Xenia authorities.

“I will be contacting the prosecutor’s office on Monday,” he said.

Greene County Prosecutor Stephen Haller said Friday he was issuing subpoenas, but declined to say how many and to whom.

Haller said it remains to be seen if anyone would be charged or if there was a way to recover money spent in the search for Tehan.

Staff reporter Doug Page contributed to this report.

I am very sorry for this whole family. Espcially her baby husband and parents..

I think there needs to be a precidence made as to what is acceptable behavior within any community.

There should be public mischief charges filed as well as restitution made by these 2...the county should be in full receipt for all the costs incurred by such a stupid iresponsible couple of adults.

It wont be long before these 2 are offered money to tell their story and in no way shud profit on their selfish hurtful stupidity ..

I agree, AJ..... they should make restitution to the State for their costs.... and they should not be able to profit from this act. It should be a criminal activity, but I know it is not against the law to disappear if you so choose....

It just seems there ought to be some happy medium in these kinds of cases.

I mentioned this before, but this is just so similar to the 'runaway bride' in Georgia a few years back. She was made to pay restitution. But as far as I know, no criminal charges were filed against her.

There has to be some way that this woman could be charged with a planned deceptive and cruel"desertion" of her spouse and child. If she had at least left a letter of explanation to be found later, when she took off. Her selfishness put an extreme emotional burden on family and friends. She lacked the decency to even make a phone call to assure everyone that she was in no danger but left willingly to start a new life. There would have been no searches made by LE, no waste of time and money had this awful cheating woman considered the consequences. The married man needs his a$$ kicked as well. The publicity generated by this deception is going to take it's toll, no matter how "forgiving and understanding the deserted husband is - as well as the wife of the married cheater.

This woman and her irresponsible actions is a big part in why ppl of missing loved ones, cant get any help from law enforcement.

I have read and watched too many stories where LE didnt take seriously, a situation where someone vanishes.

How many women are "missing" where we have seen the spouse tell LE that she must have run off, when in fact she is in the bottom of a body of water, or a landill... There are prolly tons of cases like this that we dont even know about ....let alone the many we have knowledge of..

She should be charged with public mischief, abandoning a vehicle, child neglect (even though the spouse was with the child, she was still a custodial parent along with him... on account that she lied about being home soon, and chose not too show up, that should make her neglectful...)

Tiffany Tehan -- Found Alive 4/22/10 Ddn04211

Inside Edition/Inside Edition Inside Edition has released this photo of Tiffany Tehan and her new boyfriend, Tre B. Hutcherson, for an upcoming interview with the pair on Thursday, April 29, 2010.

Tiffany Tehan and Tre B. Hutcherson will appear on Thursday’s “Inside Edition” television show to discuss their road trip to Miami Beach.

Updated 8:49 AM Tuesday, April 27, 2010

In a Monday night “Inside Edition” promo to the April 29 show, Tehan said: “I want America to know I am sorry.”

In Dayton, the program will air at 7 p.m. on NBC’s WDTN-TV Channel 2.

“Inside Edition” released a photo from the interview showing Tehan sporting hair that has been cut and dyed red. A program spokesperson would provide no other details Monday such as if the couple was being paid for their appearance.

NBC’s “Today Show” reported Monday that Tehan plans to stay with Hutcherson, with whom she ran off on April 17, but the morning program did not have any audio or video footage of Tehan making the statement.

Tehan, 31, was reported missing after she did not return home from a solo shopping trip.

Days later, Xenia police found out that Tehan had run off with Hutcherson, 42, of Dayton and that the two were romantically involved.

Hutcherson is also married. Tehan left behind her husband, David, and their 1-year-old daughter, Alexis.

On April 22, Xenia police announced that Tehan and Hutcherson were found in Miami Beach, Fla.

“Now, she says that she wants to stay with her new boyfriend for good, telling NBC News ‘We’re in love,’ Jeff Rossen, a reporter for “Today”, said before the program broadcast tape of Tehan and Hutcherson leaving the Hillsboro, Ohio, home of Tehan’s parents last weekend.

When asked why they ran off, Hutcherson said, “No comment right now.”

Asked if they were sorry for what happened, Hutcherson said, “Yes, of course.”

Hutcherson said he and Tehan were going to an undisclosed location.

Meantime Monday, Tiffany Tehan’s Ford Explorer — complete with its chronically flat back left tire — was back in front of the Tehans’ home in Xenia.

Police returned the vehicle and its contents, which included children’s clothes purchased the day Tehan disappeared.

Tiffany says she is sorry, but it looks like she is continuing the affair and flaunting it on national TV.

he didnt even have time to bring home the new clothes!

What a disgrace ! I hope they arent planning on having anymore children. We saw what she did with the first one..

They say they are sorry??? Talk is cheap.. after the bill for sending the county on a wildgoose chase is paid, and child support payments are established and being paid..
I wud consider her aplology..

They reek of arrogance..

I get the feeling that her husband is the responsible parent and lucky for the little girl!

It's hard enough on her husband that she wanted to leave him for another man, but for him to find out this way was just terrible. Most normal people just split up and move on - why did she choose this particular way to leave him and their daughter? Had she just quietly told him she didn't want to be married anymore, the only people that would have known would have been close friends and family and there wouldn't have been a nationwide spectacle!

Runaway mom: Divorce was not an option
http://www.journal-news.com/news/hamilton-news/runaway-mom-divorce-was-not-an-option-678592.html

Tiffany Tehan said “a divorce wasn’t as simple for me as it sounds ... wasn’t even an option” in an interview with Inside Edition, which will air at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 29.

In a partial transcript released by the program, the Xenia mother said the national search for her and Tre B. Hutcherson, and subsequent media attention, was overwhelming.

“I’m totally embarrassed and humiliated ... The only reason I’m here now with you is to try to maybe set some things straight. And, ask people to forgive me and give me another chance. “

The ABC network morning news show Good Morning America broadcast a segment of the interview Thursday in which Tehan said she did not believe anyone would miss her if she disappeared.

Tehan, 31, told Inside Edition that her husband, David, treated her well and that she did not flee because of any form of physical or mental abuse. She said she ran away simply because she fell in love with Hutcherson, whom she says she met at the Circle K on Watervliet Avenue in fall 2009. Tehan worked nearby.

“There’s a little convenient store around the corner,” she is quoted as saying. “We met there one day getting coffee and then I saw him again. I’m an insurance agent and we just got to talking about my work and stuff. And Tre is funny and Tre just paid attention to me and there was just chemistry there.”

As for leaving her husband and 1-year-old daughter, Alexis, Tehan shows some second thoughts.

“I am a new mother. I have a full-time job and my husband has a full-time job and is in school in the evenings. I just had a lot going on, and for me even though now, in hindsight, obviously this decision to run away was not right for me. It seemed like the right option.”

As for not getting a divorce, she said her religious upbringing made that difficult. In regard to the drive to Miami Beach, Fla., she said that was plotted for months: “The plan was to get in the car and head down to Florida and start a new life.”

Inside Edition host Deborah Norville appeared live on Good Morning America and said Tehan and Hutcherson gradually developed their plan to run off together as they repeatedly met at the convenience store.

The plan culminated with Hutcherson driving a nail into a front tire of Tehan’s SUV, then pulling the nail out to let the tire go flat. Kettering police found the SUV parked at Indian Riffle Park on Sunday, April 18, across Stroop Road from where Tehan had shopped April 17. The keys were in the ignition.

Miami Beach police found Tehan and Hutcherson, 42, at a Miami Beach hotel on April 22. Tehan and Hutcherson returned to Ohio last weekend.

Norville stressed, however, that Tehan and Hutcherson did not want it to appear that she had been kidnapped.

Prosecutors in Greene County plan to meet Friday to review the results of subpoenas they issued in connection with the case and to discuss whether any charges should be filed.

But it's not against her religion for a married woman to run off with a married man?

She didn't believe that anyone would miss her if she disappeared? Husband. One year old daughter?

And, if they didn't want it to appear that she had been kidnapped, what was the purpose of sabotaging her vehicle and disappearing?

Sounds like she is making up excuses...

Runaway mom and new boyfriend will pay back Xenia

Updated 2:20 PM Thursday, April 29, 2010

DAYTON — Tiffany Tehan and Tre Hutcherson are “nearing an agreement” to pay back the city of Xenia for costs associated with the search for the runaway mom and her new boyfriend.

Their attorney, Jon Paul Rion of Rion, Rion & Rion, said Thursday, April 29, the pair want to pay back the overtime and other dollars spent last week during a national search that involved the FBI and ended when they were found April 21, in Miami Beach, Fla.

“They’re attempting to rectify the situation as best they can,” Rion said. “Both my clients’ goal is make the city and the county whole.”

Asked if this was a preemptive strike against possible criminal charges, Rion said: “It’s the right thing to do. Let’s start there. Both of them are very amazed by the public concern that was given this.

“I think it touched them both very deeply. I don’t think anybody realized what was being created through all of this. In light of that, there’s only so much either of them can do at this point. But one of the things at the top of the list is to make sure the taxpayers aren’t paying for any of their actions.”

Rion said he was working with Xenia Prosecutor Ronald C. Lewis to determine an exact number. “We’re going to rely on them to provide us with a figure of what they consider to be restitution in this matter. I’m just going to work off whatever number they give me on that.”

Xenia City Manager Jim Percival said the search cost $5,000 in overtime for more than 100 extra hours. That does not include the regular eight-hour shifts that could have been used for other purposes. Percival said the total cost was “at least double” the $5,000 figure.

Lewis was out of state and not immediately available to comment Thursday.

Greene County Prosecutor Stephen K. Haller is still scheduled to meet with Xenia police on Friday, April 30 to discuss the case.

“The only reason I’m here now with you is to try to maybe set some things straight,” Tehan said in an interview scheduled to run Thursday night on Inside Edition. “And, ask people to forgive me and give me another chance.”

This girl was full of I's and Me's when she took off to leave ppl be worried sick about her... The above article shows me that nothing has changed.. Its all about her!!!

SHe never even mentioned her baby at all.. Just me me me me!!!! Poor me.. basically she says she was treated well by her nusband, clearly has a loving family and a wonderful baby, a job, yet that wasnt enough and she has the nerve to say she wants to make things right and ask for a second chance???????????????????????????

Apparantly, she has always had 2nd chances..

10,000? to pay bak.. I wonder if there were any crimes in progress that had to be overlooked becasue LE was busy trying to find a missing young mother who felt it appropriate to deflate her tire, and abandon her vehcle to selfishly run off with a man she fell in love with (who paid attention to her) ....

I wonder if there were any victims of a crime that cud have been spared had LE been available???? $10,000.00 ??? SHe should ask to be charged and convicted, then ask for forgiveness ...

She is pathetic... in hindsight, while I watched her dad on tv, as upset as he was, I did feel like he was holding bak a little... When a pic had been shown of her with a man who they cudnt identify, I am now wondering if he started to wonder if his daughter was capable of being so selfish and stupid...

On account that she sabotaged her vehicle, where it cud be foul play, but not necessarily..I suspect she thought out what wud happen.,.. She prolly thought her family wud be sick with worry, where LE would have to tell them, there is nothing they can do to help as there was no signs of foul play.... so she may have run off...So she prolly didnt think LE wud get involved (like in the current Julie Ann Gonzales case) which is what she hoped for.. She wud have known that her family wud be left worrying sick about her..wondering if she was dead or alive...and clearly that was ok with her...then she wud call her mom after an indefinite honeymoon, and tell her that she just up and left....oh sorry if you were worried....
She is just pathetic.. the nerve that she wants media attention is unbelievable..

You're right AJ but what can really be done? She's stupid, yes, but if LE goes after every stupid person that leaves their spouse, where would we be? I'm damned angry that LE time & money was spent looking for her too but if she's made to pay, well, it's my opinion that the baby is the one that will suffer the most.

Runaway mom, boyfriend appear on one morning show, husband on another

XENIA — David Tehan, whose wife and the mother of his 1-year-old daughter went missing only later to be found with her boyfriend Tre Hutcherson in Florida, made an appearance on the Today Show on Monday morning.

Simultaneously, Tiffany Tehan and Hutcherson appeared together on the set of Good Morning America.

Tehan, 31, went missing April 17 after she told her husband that she was going on a shopping trip. A day later her SUV was found in Kettering with the keys inside. She was found by Miami Beach detectives with Hutcherson on April 21 and told police that she and Hutcherson were romantically involved.

David Tehan told Meredith Vieira of the Today Show that he has had several conversations since his wife was found.

“Things are still very unresolved for us,” he said while being interviewed from Xenia.

David Tehan, 31, maintained there was nothing that would have led him to believe that his wife of eight years would have run off with another man.

Tiffany Tehan has stated publicly that she had a lot of pressures that drove her to leave with Hutcherson. “I understand what she’s talking about with the pressures,” David Tehan said to Vieira.

When asked how he and his daughter are coping, David Tehan said, “Lexi and I are learning to get along just the two of us.”

David Tehan ended the interview with a message for those who helped search for Tiffany. He said he wanted them to know that despite the outcome, their search efforts were needed and were important.

“I really didn’t think people would look that hard for me,” Tiffany Tehan told Robin Roberts of Good Morning America.

Hutcherson told Roberts that it was his idea to run away with Tiffany.

Hutcherson said he had a laptop with him while he and Tiffany were on the run. That’s how he said he discovered that the FBI was involved in the search. He said he and Tiffany probably would have come back on their own if they had a few more hours.

When Roberts asked the couple why they went through the trouble of ditching Tehan’s SUV with the keys locked inside, Hutcherson responded by saying, “It was a benevolent gesture to keep the keys in the car.” He said the SUV had only one set of keys and the couple wanted David Tehan to be able to get the keys back.

When Roberts asked why Tiffany Tehan left her daughter, Tehan said she didn’t want to trigger an Amber Alert or do anything illegal. “I knew that my daughter would be left in very good hands,” she said.

Tiffany Tehan ended the GMA interview with saying that she did spend a few hours with her daughter Lexi after returning to Ohio and looked forward to spending more time with her.
