Sherry, yes, I was referring to Elisa's defense attorney. I figured he would say whatever was necessary, but if he's telling the truth, it's better than if they stuck her up in the attic. I agree, there's alot of people talking about the abuse, so it must have been happening. You have a good point though, maybe Zahra went up in the attic to get away from them.

Police getting medical records of missing North Carolina girl

(CNN) -- North Carolina authorities have been in contact with Zahra Baker's biological mother in Australia and have asked for the medical records of the missing 10-year-old girl.

"We're in the process of getting medical information from Australia and we're in the process of getting medical records here," said Clyde Deal, the deputy police chief of Hickory, North Carolina, on Monday.

Officials did not specify what kind of medical records they were seeking. But often, investigators ask for access to dental records for help with identification of bodies.

Burke County Sheriff John McDevitt has said that Zahra's disappearance is being investigated as a homicide.

Zahra was reported missing October 9 and no one other than a family member has reported seeing her since September 25.

Sherry, it is very possible she went to the attic to get away from them. There's just been too many reports of Zahra's abuse for me to think she wasn't suffering severe abuse - the school, classmates, friends, family and neighbors. So very sad, I hope there are some answers today.

This dawned on me earlier.....if the parents were putting her up in the attic, the neighbors would here more than just Zahra moving around, which is the sound they figured was just squirrels in the attic. If she was being put in the attic as a punishment, the neighbors would probably hear voices of either the parents or of Zahra, and they probably would hear Zahra crying. Since the neighbors only mentioned what sounds like squirrels moving around sounds, I'm thinking Sherry is right and maybe Zahra went up there on her own.

Is that really a cast, or those elbow high gloves that come down to a point on the hand. That's what it looks like to me. But, maybe I'm wrong.

That's what it looks like to me, sitemama, gloves-with a finger loop for the middle finger.

It looks big like a cast would look, but, if you look at her upper arm, the lower part of the arm is the right size.

The Hickory. N.C., police department today released the tapes of the two 911 calls that Adam and Elisa Baker made, around the time their 10-year-old daughter, Zahra Baker, was reported missing.

WSOC-TV in Charlotte obtained the tape of the first call. On Oct. 9, the day Zahra disappeared, her stepmother, Elisa Baker, reported a fire in the back of the family's home in Hickory.

"My husband works for a tree maintenance company and our backyard is on fire. ... We've got big mulch piles and wood piles ... firewood and stuff," Elisa Baker told the 911 operator.

Watch the full story tonight on "Nightline" at 11:35 p.m.

Police told WSOC-TV that they now believe the fire had been set deliberately, but no one has been charged in connection with the incident.

Eight hours later on the morning of Oct. 10, Adam Baker, 33, made a second 911 call to report his daughter was missing, police said.

"Hey, how are you doing? I need police," Baker said to one dispatcher, before he was transferred to a second dispatcher, who took down his information.

On the tape with the second dispatcher, of which ABC News obtained a recording, Baker can be heard describing how the police had been out to his house the night before on a seemingly different case.

Note that in the original call, Baker began with a greeting. Note research by Dr. Adams, FBI, that showed guilty callers in domestic homicides were noted first by a greeting to the answering 911 operator.

According to the research on domestic homicide calls, guilty callers do not ask for help specifically for the victim but rather often insult the victim.

DISPATCHER: I'm sorry? Your daughter…

"I'm sorry" means that Dispatcher heard something that triggered sensitivity and is often used as a polite delay to give time to think. Listening to the audio suggests that the dispatcher may have been surprised by such a calm demeanor accompanying such a drastic statement by a parent.

ADAM BAKER: My daughter is missing.

Note the name: "my daughter". Always note when a name is used by context, and when a pronoun is used (also by context)

DISPATCHER: Your daughter is missing.

Repetition shows sensitivity. The dispatcher is likely shocked.

DISPATCHER: What is your address?

ADAM BAKER: 21 21st Ave. Northwest.

Note that no assistance is demanded for Zahra. Dr. Adams also found that guilty callers sometimes disparaged the victim, and often blamed the victim as to the reason for the call. The blaming was often in the form of complaining about the victim.

This was my first thought on their planted ransom note, Zahra was taken by mistake at the house the boss owns, that they rent.

However, this landfill is a long ways from where they lived, and if she hasn't been seen in 3 weeks, I'm sure there has been a lot of garbage dumped during this time.

How deep into the pile of garbage will they actually dig? I'm afraid Zahra will never be found. When I took my mom to the doctor today, I drove past the house the dad and step-mom lived in. It was only 4 blocks above mom's doctor's office. My aunt lives a few blocks away, on 19th Avenue, NE and they searched all around her area. LE trampled all her bushes down that were growing in her back yard.

THE stepmother of missing Australian girl Zahra Baker had been conducting an online relationship with a man in England while living with the 10-year-old and her father in North Carolina.

Judge Robert Mullinax Jr has deemed Zahra's stepmother Elisa Baker, 42, a flight risk and raised her bond after her grown daughter testified that a man in England who was sending her thousands of dollars.

Hickory, N.C., police on Tuesday released recordings of two emergency calls made from Zahra Baker’s home the day the 10-year-old girl was reported missing.

The calls shed new light on what Zahra’s parents claim happened Oct. 9, and how an early morning fire and a phony ransom note might have been linked to her disappearance.

The Bakers’ description of events suggests that Zahra might have been kidnapped while her father and stepmother were dealing with a fire in the back yard of their Hickory house. The Bakers also reported that kidnappers might have taken Zahra by mistake in an attempt to abduct the daughter of Baker’s boss and landlord, Mark Coffey.

“I don’t know if they set a fire in the yard to distract us to go out, and they snuck in the door,” Adam Baker said of possible kidnappers in his 911 call.

“It appears they may have taken my daughter instead of his daughter.”

I have no idea how deep they go in a landfill search. Most of them seem to have a system of knowing what date and area trash came from when it's brought to the landfill. I hate to think she was dumped like garbage, but it seems the majority of the murdered children are. One article stated they were searching for evidence, not Zahra's body, in the landfill. I don't know how that's possible unless they are looking for something very specific.

But Assistant District Attorney Eric Bellas argued that Baker's bond should be increased after describing how Elisa Baker had met her current husband, Adam Baker, online while he was living in Australia with his daughter Zahra. Elisa Baker later moved to Australia to be with him, the prosecutor said, before the couple moved back to North Carolina in 2009.

Bellas didn't spell out the nature of Elisa Baker's new online relationship. But Fairchild identified the London man her mother was communicating with as Kara Fullman, and said the man has sent Baker $10,000 over the past year until very recently. She didn't describe why the man would send her mother money.

They could also be searching the landfill for evidence from when they moved, stuff they threw out I guess that might hold some clues.......

Zahra was last seen on Sept 25th at a furniture store with step-mom. They purchased a new mattress. LE have removed a mattress, box springs and bed frame from the home.

Last night they carried a mattress out of the dump site, but it has not been determined that it was from the parents home yet. They did say that the new mattress removed from the home had not been slept on yet.

From that, I wonder if Zahra was killed right after she was seen at the store. The furniture store didn't deliver the mattress until 2 days after it was purchased.

Another piece of their pre-meditated murder and cover up? Save the old mattress for what, Zahra's murder? Then make sure they have witnesses see them buy a new one with Zahra in tow. The furniture store owner said Zahra was called by name by Elisa Baker in the store, he even mentioned her prosthetic leg. Seems to me the intent was for Zahra to be seen and positively identified in that furniture store, with them purchasing a mattress. That's just my opinion.

Another big blunder in their perfect evil plan, just like the arson in the backyard and the phony ransom note.

Police end landfill search in case of missing N.C. girl

(CNN) -- Authorities ended their search at a North Carolina landfill Friday for a mattress connected to the case of a missing 10-year-old girl, police said. They did not recover it.

Investigators had hoped to use the mattress to confirm information from interviews conducted as part of their investigation, Hickory police said in a news release. They had also hoped it would provide some DNA evidence related to the case.

Zahra Clare Baker was reported missing October 9. However, no one other than a family member has reported seeing her since September 25, when a woman saw her at a furniture store, police say.

The missing mattress, which belonged to Zahra, was thrown out by her parents in early October, days before she was reported missing, police say.

A team from Hickory police and agents from the North Carolina Bureau of Investigation and the FBI participated in the search at the Foothills Environmental Landfill in Lenoir, North Carolina.

The father of a missing North Carolina girl presumed dead was arrested early Monday on charges unrelated to the child's disappearance.

The Hickory Police Department told FoxNews.com that Adam Baker was arrested at 3:12 a.m. Monday on five counts of writing worthless checks and three counts of failure to appear in court.

Baker, whose 10-year-old daughter Zahra was last seen in public on Sept. 25, is being held in the Catawba County jail on $7,000 bond. It was unclear if he had an attorney.

Zahra was reported missing on Oct. 9 and police accused Elisa Baker, the girl's stepmother, of writing a fake ransom note.

Adam Baker told the dispatcher in a 911 call that a ransom note was found at his home indicating that someone kidnapped his boss' daughter after someone set a fire in his backyard.

Here is another news report that states he was arrested at the airport. However, they say he was there to pick someone up. Maybe the grandma has finally arrived here, since she was the person who raised Zahra for her first 5 years of life.
