A King County District Court judge has found probable cause to hold a Federal Way man accused in the death of a 2-year-old girl.

Sheriff's detectives arrested the 28-year-old man on Monday, a day after the girl -- Purpose Goldsmith, his girlfriend's daughter -- died of head injuries allegedly sustained while in his care. The man -- who'd previously been convicted in an attack on his own child -- has not been charged in the slaying but is suspected of second-degree murder in Goldsmith's death.

At 1 p.m. Sunday, deputies were called to a home in the 36200 block of 21st Place South after a caller reported that the girl was not breathing, King County Sheriff's Office spokesman Sgt. John Urquhart said in a statement.

Deputies arrived at the home, located in unincorporated King County east of Federal Way, and found Goldsmith gravely injured. She died en route to Harborview Medical Center.

"(The suspect) first stated he found Purpose unresponsive when he went to wake her and change her diaper," a sheriff's detective told the court.

According to court documents, Wallace was watching the girl and her older brother while their mother was at work and he called 911 on Sunday afternoon to report that Purpose had stopped breathing.

The girl was rushed to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle where she was pronounced dead.

Investigators said the girl had suffered head trauma and numerous wounds on her body.

When police interviewed Wallace he admitted that he beat the child because he was frustrated that she had soiled her diaper, according to the court documents.

Wallace allegedly hit the girl at least six times with a belt, shook her until she went limp and hit her in the head several times.

Again....a child beaten to death by the mother's boyfriend. Boyfriend with previous a history of abuse.
This little one had other older bruises prior to the ones that caused her death. A helpless two-year-old child beaten with a belt, shaken, and hit in the head several times. The mother needs to face charges along with this POS boyfriend.
Poor little angel, now she is free from abuse, but she should have been able to grow up in a home where she was loved.

This seems to happen everyday!

I can't imagine the horror some of these children live in daily, the ones that aren't murdered but have to continue to live with the abuse and no one ever helps them, not even their own mothers. Will it ever stop?

A week after the 2-year-old girl's death, a Federal Way man has been with second-degree murder following allegations that he beat the girl to death after she soiled her diaper.

Sheriff's detectives arrested the Ron Wallace, Jr. on Nov. 22, a day after the girl -- Purpose Goldsmith, his girlfriend's daughter -- died of head injuries allegedly sustained while in his care. Wallace, who'd previously been convicted in an attack on his own child, was charged Monday with second-degree murder in Goldsmith's death.

SEATTLE -- A Federal Way man accused of beating a 2-year-old girl to death after she soiled her diaper has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder.

...Jailed since his arrest, Wallace, 30, is scheduled to be sentenced Nov. 10. He faces 14 to 20 years in prison.

When Ron Wallace Jr. was done beating his girlfriend's 2-year-old daughter police said that the child's head "felt like Jell-O." That little girl is now dead. And Wallace will spend the next two decades in a prison cell reflecting on why she's dead.

Wallace, a 30-year-old man from Federal Way, was convicted of second-degree murder last month--a reduced charge that he pleaded guilty to in exchange for a lighter sentence.

He was sentenced on Thursday to 20 years in prison.
