12-year-old Isabella Oleschuk, deaf in one ear, missing from Orange, Conn.
March 20th, 2011 6:24 pm ET
ORANGE, Conn -- Twelve-year-old Isabella "Bella" Oleschuk went missing early Sunday morning from her home on Derby Avenue near Mapleview Drive in Orange, Conn.
UPDATE: As of Sunday evening, the FBI has arrived and is setting up a command post in the Temple Emanuel parking lot. Many of the fire fighters have left the scene, and CERT is gone as well. According to an updated report on Orange Patch "Now it's in the FBI's hands."
After a long day of searching Sunday, the Asst. Police Chief issued a statement late Sunday saying the police received a call from Bella's parents at about 8:18 a.m. Sunday morning that she was missing from her home.
Police did a brief search of the home and found no signs of foul play but will work all angles and will not stop looking for Bella until they find "some kind of resolution."
Bella wears a hearing aid which she does not have with her. She may have difficulties hearing searchers calling out to her.

Isabella Oleschuk Missing: FBI joins search for missing 12-year-old Conn. girl
March 21, 2011
(CBS/WFSB/AP) ORANGE, Conn. - The FBI has joined the search for 12-year-old Isabella Oleschuk, who was reported missing from Orange, Conn., just outside of New Haven, Sunday.
Oleschuk, the daughter of a local firefighter, is described as a white female, 5 feet, 4 inches tall, and weighing approximately 120 pounds, with blue eyes and shoulder length blond hair, reports CBS affiliate WFSB.
She was last seen in her home over the weekend, several miles from New Haven. Police say she may have left her home overnight.
Firefighters, as well as state and local police are searching for the seventh grader, according to WFSB. William Reiner, an FBI spokesman, said federal authorities are also assisting with the search.
Search teams have scoured wooded areas in Orange, along with neighboring areas in Woodbridge and West Haven.
Authorities say Oleschuck may be wearing a light blue jacket, brown felt hooded cape and black rain boots.

Terri responded saying, “The kids call her duck girl because she quacks like a duck and hisses at people. Some say they don’t think anyone even knew her real name before yesterday,” Terri said. Terro also said that as a child her nickname was "dog." She, too, understands what Bella is going through.
Kathleen wrote: "Yesterday, an entire day went by, dangerous minutes ticking away, while people kept the secret of Bella’s bullying and her intent to run away from it all," she said.
Oh my gosh, this is heartbreaking!

And the two teens that were seen around the pond between 6am and 8am, when Bella went missing - they won't even say if they are male or female. I hope they can identify them quickly.

Isabella Oleschuk found safe in abandoned farmstand

ORANGE -- A community's prayers were answered Wednesday when 13-year-old Isabella Oleschuk was found safe after three days, hiding in the garage of an abandoned farm stand about three miles from her home.
Her father thanked all of the law enforcement agents and civilian volunteers who searched for his daughter. "Isabella comes from a loving, supportive family that is raising her with Christian core values,'' Roman Oleschuk said during a news conference at the Orange Police Department. "They took time away from their families to help ours.''
The seventh-grader had been in the ramshackle, weather-beaten garage, which stands off Indian River Road, since she ran away early Sunday morning, Chief Robert Gagne said. The garage is at the corner of Prindle Hill Road, a busy intersection near a nursing home, medical office complex and a shopping center anchored by the Christmas Tree Shop.

Cost to find Isabella: $25,000
Published: Tuesday, March 29, 2011; Last Updated: Tue. Mar 29, 2011, 1:50am
ORANGE — The town spent $25,226 on police overtime costs in its four-day search for Isabella Oleschuk, 13, but First Selectman James Zeoli said there can be no price placed on a child’s life.
Assistant Police Chief Edward Koether responded to a Freedom of Information request by the New Haven Register for costs incurred by the department in its search for Isabella.
Koether said the department spent $25,226 in overtime costs for 33 police officers or supervisors. Zeoli said the town will pay those costs.
Isabella ran away from her Derby Milford Road home March 20, and was found Wednesday morning when Linda Subbloie of New Haven spotted someone in an abandoned farm stand at the intersection of Prindle Hill and Indian River roads.
Isabella was found safe, and police have said she had food and juice, and did not appear to move from the farm stand. She was also unaware hundreds of people were looking for her, or that her story garnered national attention.

Father: School Test Made Daughter Run Away
13-Year-Old Stressed Over Standardized Tests
POSTED: 3:59 pm EDT March 24, 2011
UPDATED: 6:04 pm EDT March 24, 2011
ORANGE, Conn. -- Isabella Oleschuk’s father said his 13-year-old daughter ran away from home because she was stressed over taking her Connecticut Mastery Test.
The 13-year-old set off a massive three-day search involving hundreds of people, including state and federal officials. She was found safe hiding in an abandoned farm stand, three miles away from her Orange home.
"It really stems from building up anxiety of this testing," said Roman Oleschuk.
Connecticut students in public schools grades 3 to grade 8 take the state test. Isabella took her seventh-grade standardized test a week before police said she ran way.
John Brady, the superintendent where Isabella attends school, wants more information about the claim.
"The test has nothing to do with passing. It has nothing to do with grading. It has nothing to do with placement. They are not high-stake tests like the SAT," said Brady.
