Police: Man accused of decapitating little boy is his father

THIBODAUX, La. - Thibodaux Police say the man accused of killing a 7-year-old special needs child is the boy's biological father.

Police have been investigating the gruesome murder of Jori Lirette, who was found decapitated outside his home in the 400 block of West 7th street in Thibodaux.

Police said was a special needs child confined to a wheelchair. His horrific murder Sunday sent shock waves through his quiet neighborhood.

Police have charged Jeremiah Wright,30, with first degree murder in Lirette's death. They said Wright confessed to the killing.

The statement by Thibodaux Police Lt. Kim Favalora said Jori's head was left by the side of the road so that his mother, 27-year-old Jesslyn Lirette, would see it when she came home and "feel stupid." By the time she arrived, police were already there and had removed the head.

He was upset that his wife was too exhausted at night after caring for her special needs child all day, alone, without his help, to meet his selfish needs so he figured he'd show her who was the more important to take care of!

I sure hope he is well taken care of where he is going.

LAFOURCHE PARISH, La. —The man accused of killing and dismembering his disabled son was found not guilty by reason of insanity Friday morning.

Judge John Leblanc issued the ruling in the case against Jeremiah Wright.

Leblanc said because this was a capital case, he is committing Wright to the East Louisiana Mental Health System in Jackson, La.

"The District Attorney's Office reluctantly agrees to let the judge make the ruling. But given the evidence presented, it's overwhelming." said District Attorney Cam Morvant. "This closes the book on the situation."
