A Delray Beach woman was arrested in Port St. Lucie for her suspected role in the strangulation of a New Jersey woman in Fort Lauderdale.

Nicole "Nikki" Okrzesik, 22, was charged Thursday with first-degree murder in connection with the March 24 death of Juliana Mensch, 19. Okrzesik's boyfriend, James Anthony Ayers, 32, was arrested and charged with the murder on March 29, according to Fort Lauderdale police.

FORT LAUDERDALE — The female half of a couple accused of murdering a New Jersey woman in a Fort Lauderdale home was held without bond after appearing in court Friday.

Nicole Okrzesik, 23, of Florida and Wheaton, Ill,. is charged with the premeditated murder of Juliana M. Mensch, 19, of Florida and Marlton, N.J., who police say was strangled.

Internet searches, texts and Facebook messages implicate a Florida couple in the murder of an 18-year-old friend in their Fort Lauderdale apartment, according to police.

Court documents allege that 32-year-old James Ayers and 23-year-old Nicole Okrzesik discussed killing Juliana Mensch and argued over what to do with her body online and in text messages after authorities believe the teen was asphyxiated in the early hours of March 24. Mensch’s decomposing body was found under a pile of clothing in the apartment five days later.

But when the 18-year-old female friend suddenly goes missing, a tip leads police straight to the couple`s bedroom and a foul smell. It was a terrible smell! There under a pile of clothes, the missing 18-year-old found strangled, left dead on the floor for days!

James Ayers was on pre-trial release on a drug charge when he murdered Juliana Mensch. He says his girlfriend Nicole Okrzesik actually tried to strangle her and he finished her off. Then they stole the 200.00 she had in her bra for drugs.

Juliana Mensch Murder Suspects Leave Behind Incriminating Texts, Google Searches, Cops Say

The suspects in the killing of 19-year-old Juliana Mensch left behind a damning trail of digital evidence linking them to the crime, according to authorities.

The New Times has obtained Google searches, Facebook posts and text messages that, cops say, show Mensch's friends James Ayers and Nicole Okrzesik plotting ways to kill the Broward County, Fla. teen and then discussing what to do with the body. Ayers was arrested for the killing in March and Okrzesik was taken in last month.

A Florida couple who allegedly strangled a 19-year-old girl while she was asleep Googled how to murder her minutes before her death, according to police records obtained by the New Times.

James Ayers, 32, and Nicole Okrzesik, 23, are accused of plotting ways to kill Juliana Mensch and discussing what to do with her body in text messages and online, the newspaper reports.

Police claim that the pair, who were friends of Mensch, killed her after getting high with her in their Fort Lauderdale home on March 24 so that they could rob her for drug money.

A grand jury indicted 23-year-old Nicole Okrzesik in the March strangulation of Juliana Mensch, prosecutors say. She is scheduled to go to trial June 25, alongside codefendant James Ayers.

Both are charged with first-degree murder -- a capital crime.

"They both could face the death penalty, although we reserve judgment for now as to whether or not to pursue it in this case, pending further analysis of the potential aggravating factors versus mitigating factors," wrote Broward State Attorney spokesman Ron Ishoy.

But court records show the first-degree murder charge evidenced by those searches won't be the only charge discussed at their June 25 trial: Several of Ayers' other cases, either open or reopened, are scheduled to be heard as well -- and they paint a picture of a guy who's had a lot of problems with both drugs and the law.

In September 2007, Ayers was arrested at a Lauderhill DUI checkpoint after a BSO deputy reportedly noticed a bottle of rum under Ayers' seat on the passenger side of the car. It appears Ayers and the driver then consented to a search, during which the officer found a crack pipe in Ayers' pants, according to court documents.

In September 2009, Ayers was working at an auto shop in Davie -- one night, he was in charge of counting the money at the end of the day, and the next day, $1,000 was reported missing. Ayers never came back to work but wasn't arrested at the time.

Nicole Okrzesik Pleads Not Guilty in Juliana Mensch Strangling; Trial Tentatively Set for August

Nicole Okrzesik, the 23-year-old accused of strangling Juliana Mensch with her boyfriend in March, pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder on Monday and has had her trial tentatively set for August 6. She could face the death penalty.
