Authorities are asking for the public’s help in finding a teenage murder suspect who may be hiding out along the U.S./Mexico border.

Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) officials have issued a special alert for 18-year-old Jennifer Samantha Puente.

The Dallas area teen is accused in the murder of 15-year-old Moriah Gonzales.

AUSTIN – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is asking for the public’s help in finding a woman wanted in connection with the March 17 murder of a teenager in Ennis (Ellis County). Jennifer Samantha Puente, 18, is accused in the death of 15-year-old Moriah Gonzales, whose burned body was left on the side of the road in Ennis. Another suspect in the crime was arrested on March 24.

Navarro County Crime Stoppers is now offering a $1,000 reward for her arrest and indictment. According to the Texas Rangers, who are assisting the Ennis Police Department in the investigation, Puente has ties to Grand Prairie, Arlington, Ennis, and has family in Corsicana and El Cenizo (near Laredo).

Puente is 5 feet 4 inches tall, weighs approximately 150 pounds, and has a mole on her left cheek. She has a distinctive tattoo on her right front shoulder area with an expletive, “Fu_ _ everybody” (in cursive) surrounded by stars; another of a pacifier on the bottom of her right arm; and “Baby John” tattooed on back of her neck.

Call 903-874-TIPS if you have information on Puente’s whereabouts, or call your local police.

Do not attempt to apprehend her yourself.

The Texas Rangers and Ennis police are searching for a man and woman suspected in the death of a girl found burning on the side of a road.

The girl is believed to be 15-year-old Moriah Gonzales, whose family reported her missing Tuesday after learning about the smoldering body found Saturday south of Ennis, by Knighthurst Drive near Interstate 45, Police Chief John Erisman said.

At 9:30 p.m. Saturday, police arrested Jose Manuel Alvarado (left), 29, of Ennis, in Grand Prairie. He is in Ennis police custody and has been charged with the murder of Moriah Gonzales. No bond has been set.

ENNIS - The police hunt is still on for 18-year-old Jennifer Samantha Puente, the teen suspected of killing her friend, 15-year-old Moriah Gonzales.

This is a story I posted on THM and wanted to share it on here with hoping someone may see this girl and turn her in. I did not know either one but work with one of the mothers that was friends of the girl that was murdered and this case really is hard for sure not just on the kids but the mothers too. Jennifer was 18 and Moriah was 15. Also Moriah had lost a sister 6 months to the day of her death to a drug reaction so her parents lost 2 daughters in such a short time. This family really needs justice soon and the pictures on the Waxahachie Daily light, my home town newspaper, during the death and funeral of the girl was heart breaking. Her mothers eyes were soo swollen from crying that it makes you want to go out and hunting down the people responsiable for all that heartache.

This is where they found her body stabbed and burn. It took 2 days before the family knew she was missing cause someone supposely had her phone and was texting her family that she was ok and was at so-n-so house. The kids that knew her got together and set up the memorial. This happened on a Friday night and the family was moving from Waxahachie to Ennis and was also the weekend after spring break and the mother had to get up real early to go to work at the donut shop she thought maybe Moriah had taken a break from unpacking and went over to some friends house to unwind and would be back in the morning to finish up. Texting back and forth was going on not knowing she was already died. Reports came out of Ennis that a body was found burning on Saturday morning but 2 and 2 did not happen until sometime later in the weekend which gave Jennifer plenty of time to get away. The guy involved with her killing is married with kid or kids and his wife has been defending him on Ennis Daily News when the stories were first published when he was caught. I had the links but when they quit posting I deleted them. His wife blamed everything on Jennifer but hearsay the girl was raped so I guess he was more involved then his wife knows. No reports from the police have been posted stating that, but family members posting that info when arguing with his wife on one of the headlines..

Thanks for sharing the info. I searched Ennis Daily News and it is a paid subscription site (like so many small town newspapers including in my area).

I did find some info on the Corsicana newspaper (Navarro County) site but did not post because they referenced their source as the Dallas Morning News and I have that article posted upthread.

Thanks. Yes our small town papers are online and mine yu can look at 6 stories every 30 days for free which is about all you can stand to read lol. I try to save mine in case there is anything that comes up but I work with one of the mothers that their daughter was friends with Moriah so if anything comes up she can share it on our facebook and I will link it from there. Also on the Ennis daily news you can go to the story and zoom on it sometimes and it works but you have done enough so anything new is great if you come across it before me. I work overnights and I am on my days off so I mostly post in the mornings or evening since I sleep all day. I feel like a crack head without the drugs since I never see dayight except on my days off lol. Thanks for setting up this thread. I pray someone somewhere will see this and do the right thing. Rumors that she has been seen in Corsicana Tx and Laredo Tx. Laredo is where she was from orginally. Sorry for the miss spelling, my phonics bite.

Nene, our area newspaper does not allow any free views unless one subscribes to the hard copy or the E-Edition. I subscribe to the hard copy so I get to view the E-Edition at no charge. You are lucky that you get a few free views. I bet you have to be real selective! lol

I was glad to set this thread up for you on behalf of Moriah.

I will help you keep it updated. I already have included it on my "monitor" list.

There are many things reported on local news that may not be picked up by larger media outlets such as the Dallas mainstream media. Being that the Ellis newspaper is pay for view, if you read or hear something on your local news, please post it here and indicate that you can not Link it because of pay/view.

Without me having to research it, does your area have a local radio station that has morning, noon and evening news?

We have radio Kbec 1390 am but it consist of a flea market in the morning and local area sports and he haw music. Not much as far as news. My husband is not allow to listen cause he wants to go pick up everything free on the flea market.

Moriah “Mia G” Gonzalez age 15, of Ennis, passed away Saturday, March 17, 2012 in Ennis. She was born November 5, 1996 in Waxahachie, Texas to Robert Gonzalez, Sr. and Cynthia (Ledesma) Gonzalez. She loved styling hair and wanted to be a cosmetologist. She attended school in Waxahachie. Moriah was loved and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Left to cherish her memories are her parents, Robert and Cynthia Gonzalez of Ennis; two sisters, Danielle and Elsa Lynn Gonzalez of Ennis; brother, Alex Ghiotto of Dallas; two nieces, Destini Belman and Mariah Palanco of Ennis; two nephews, Jose Torres, Jr. of Ennis and Alex Ghiotto, Jr. of Dallas; grandfather, Juan Altamira of Waxahachie; aunt, Janie Valdez and husband George of Waxahachie; uncle, Daniel Davila.

My son lives about 15 miles north towards Dallas in Lancaster and he works 3 pm till 2 am Sunday thru Wednesday so his days off he gets on Craiglist to see what is free. He is just like his Dad and they both use to throw the Dallas morning news at night and picked up everything that had a sign "Take it its free". My yard is clean now but back then you could not walk thru it. My husband would be out there with my son but wit his health he can not get out in the heat that much. Glad my son has his own yard and he rents so he can not junk it out. Also alot of locals listen to KBEC so anywhere you go in town they are listening. I am a hard rocker even at 55 nearly 56 but really like blues better if I can find it.

daughter Moriah Gonzales' funeral.
The 15-year-old, whose body was found
burning in Ennis on March 17, is believed
to have been murdered.

As questions remain unanswered about Moriah Gonzales’ murder on March 17 in Ennis, the family’s plea for help to cover the 15-year-old’s burial cost is close to being met. Cynthia Gonzales, Moriah’s mother explained that the original fee added up to more than $8,000 and when all was said and done, only $350 was owed, and her heart has been touched in so many ways.

“Even though this has been such a hard thing to deal with, the response to helping with Moriah’s burial service has been a huge blessing,” Gonzales said. “Through the donations at Citizens National Bank and Wells Fargo along with the help we received from the Texas Crime Victims Association, it has been a real gift. We have been touched by people who came out of nowhere to help us.”

Of course I can not read the story but at least they are keeping her in the headlines. Seems they are trying to put more out on this story now then they did back when it happened but at least it may bring justice one more step closer.

Clues sought in apprehension of suspect in Ennis homicide

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is asking for the public’s help in finding the female suspect wanted in connection with the March 17 murder of an Ennis teenager.

Jennifer Samantha Puente, 18, is being sought in the death of 15-year-old Moriah Gonzales, whose burned body was left on the side of the road in Ennis. Another suspect, Joe Alvarado, 29, was arrested March 24 in relation to this crime.

“The search for Puente has and will continue until she is captured,” Texas Ranger Jason Bobo said. “The search for her has obviously broadened beyond the Texas border into Mexico with the assistance of the United States Marshal service.”

Another friend, Robin Del Bosque, has organized an upcoming benefit for the Gonzales family. She has known them for the past 20 years and is amazed at their strength.

The benefit will take place from 6 p.m.-midnight Saturday, June 30, at the SPJST Lodge in Ennis, located at 1901 E. Ennis Avenue. There will be live bands, raffles and a cakewalk. The dinner menu will include brisket, potato salad, charro beans, rice, tortillas and bread. The admission is $5 for ages 12-17 and $10 for ages 18 and older. For further information, contact Robin Del Bosque at 469-279-5575.

Ellis County & District Attorney - Patrick Wilson

Today Joe Manuel Alvarado, of Ennis, Texas, was sentenced to 34 years for the murder of 15-year old Moriah Gonzales. He also received 20 years for Tampering With Evidence. Alvarado pled guilty to both charges.

In March 2012 Gonzales' burned body was found on Knighthurst Street in Ennis. Police linked Alvarado to the crime, along with Jennifer Puente. Puente remains at large and is wanted for the crime of murder.

At the time of his plea Alvarado testified that Puente "had greater involvement" with the murder, and that he was a passive participant. The video and audio statements that he gave to the police were entered in the court record. Alvarado also agreed to testify against Puente when she is apprehended.
