Teen who posted anti-bullying YouTube video kills herself
VANCOUVER - A British Columbia teenager who posted a gut-wrenching video to YouTube of her treatment at the hands of relentless bullies has killed herself, prompting an outpouring of condolences on social media.
Amanda Todd, 15, posted a haunting, black-and-white, nine-minute video on Sept. 7 in which she doesn't speak, but leafs through dozens of white pieces of paper with brief sentences in black marker.
On the papers, the teen explains that as a Grade 7 student, she was lured by an unidentified male to expose her breasts via webcam.
One year later, Todd said she got a message from him on Facebook, though she didn't know how he knew her name or where to find her.
Todd's notes say the man ordered her to "put on a show for me," or he would send around the webcam pictures. Todd said he knew her address, her school, her friends and her family.
She said she was later alerted by police that he had followed through with the threat.
"I then got really sick," she wrote.

Group got tip about Amanda Todd before teen's suicide
WINNIPEG - A Canadian group that once received a tip about Amanda Todd, the Port Coquitlam, B.C., teen who killed herself last Wednesday, says the torment she faced is on the rise.
Signy Arnason, director of Cybertip.ca, a national agency that gathers tips on the online sexual exploitation of children, said the tip was one of about 10,000 received last year. In 2012, the Winnipeg-based group has already received another 13,500 tips.
"We're seeing more and more information posted on what would be referred to as 'jailbait' sites," said Arnason, noting many pictures are stolen from kids' Facebook accounts.
"The commentary that goes on with those images can be absolutely devastating."
At the age of 12, Todd was lured to expose her breasts on a webcam. A year later, a man threatened in a Facebook message to expose the picture if she didn't give him a show.

The Unforgetable Amanda Todd Story
Modified : May 27,2015
Suspect Found!
According to the BBC, A 35-year-old man was officially charged in April 2014 in the Netherlands in connection with Amanda Todd’s suicide.
According to the Canadian police, the unidentified suspect was charged with extortion, internet luring, criminal harassment and child pornography, Canadian police say. The Police also mentioned the suspect is involved in other abuse cases and not just the Amanda story.
The Dutch newspaper Omroep Brabant reports materials seized at the suspect’s home put him in suspicion of other cases of online abuse involving in the Netherlands, the UK and the US.
“Today marks a major milestone in our investigation,” said Inspector Paulette Friel of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. “A suspect has been identified, he has been arrested and he has been charged.”
“The suspicions against the man are that he approached underage girls via the internet and then seduced them into performing sexual acts in front of a webcam,” Dutch prosecutors said in a statement, quoted by AP.

Province ‘moving toward’ extradition request for Dutch national accused of cyberbullying Amanda Todd
Jeremy Deutsch / Tri-Cities Now
April 22, 2015 10:13 AM
When charges were announced a year ago against a Dutch man police believe was behind the extortion and cyberbullying of PoCo teen Amanda Todd, her mother Carol knew it would be a long time before he stepped through the doors of a Canadian court, if at all.
She was told by Crown lawyers it could be three years before the suspect faces charges in Canada.
That’s because the man accused in the case, identified as Aydin Coban, has an entire legal process to go through in the Netherlands before he can be brought to Canada.
...The province’s criminal justice branch confirmed the office has started the extradition process in the Todd case, but could not give a timeline as to when it will be formalized.
“We’ve started the process of moving toward an extradition request, it just hasn’t been formally made,” said Crown spokesman Neil MacKenzie, adding that he couldn’t share specific details of the case since it’s before the courts.
“The process is underway and ongoing.”
...MacKenzie also noted Coban is still facing prosecution in the Netherlands for other crimes and is not available for extradition until after the legal process in that country is complete.
Coban’s case in the Netherlands isn’t expected to proceed until the fall, at the earliest.
However, Canadian authorities can move ahead with the extradition process in the meantime.
