Police Seek Anwers After Body Of Missing Woman Found In Coral Springs

CORAL SPRINGS (CBSMiami) – The Coral Springs Police Department is asking for the public’s help in figuring out what happened to a missing woman whose body was discovered in a wooded area near a high school.

According to Coral Springs Police, a man walking down the street discovered the woman’s body off the 7200 block of Sample Road just east of Coral Springs High School sometime around 6:00 p.m. Thursday.

“Based on the way her that her body was discovered, it appears that it was placed at that location and it doesn’t appear to be where she was deceased. She happened to have been put there by somebody. That’s why we’re looking for information, if anyone saw anything in the area,” said Carla Kmiotek with Coral Springs Police.

Police say there were no obvious signs of trauma on the body, but are calling the incident “suspicious in nature.”

Investigators have identified her as 38-year-old Magdalena Weich.

Police say her live-in boyfriend, Enrique Macotela, reported her missing on Wednesday.

The body of a missing woman was found Thursday in a wooded area near Coral Springs High School and police are calling it a suspicious death..

Magdalena Weich, 38, of Coral Springs, was reported missing late Wednesday by her boyfriend, authorities said

Police are asking the public to come forward with information about people seen walking in the vicinity of the discovery or vehicles parked or broken down in the area anytime between Tuesday and Thursday evenings, Kmiotek said.

When Enrique Macotela reported Weich was missing, he told police she never returned home Tuesday after walking to Barnes & Noble, 2790 N. University Drive, to study, authorities said.

While he was playing tennis with friends, Weich texted Macotela to let him know she would be studying at the bookstore, according to a police incident report. But she didn't return home and had left her purse, keys and cellphone at home.

Police in Coral Springs are asking for assistance in the suspicious death investigation of Magdalena Weich, 38, of Coral Springs.

Weich's boyfriend reported her missing on Wednesday. He said she was going to Barnes & Noble, but never returned home.

Police have questioned Weich's boyfriend, but he has since asked for a lawyer. Detectives are also waiting for a search warrant to enter the couple's home.

The couple has a four-year-old son, who has been placed by DCF with another family member.

Sample Road between Turtle Run Boulevard and Rock Island Road was shutdown in both directions for four hours on Thursday while police investigated the scene.

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. - After a woman's body was found in a wooded area, police are looking to her boyfriend for answers.

Detectives returned Saturday to a home in Coral Springs armed with a search warrant. The place was home to Magdalena Weich, her boyfriend and their 4-year-old son.

Investigators hope something inside the townhouse can help solve Weich's murder.

Things don't sound right. They don't add up to me," another neighbor said.

It all started as a missing person's case. Weich's boyfriend, Enrique Macotela, reported her missing Wednesday.

Macotela told police she left Tuesday night to walk to Barnes & Noble, but never returned home or went to work the next day.

Weich's boss told police that Macotela called in sick for Weich the same day she disappeared. Two days later at around 6 p.m., a pair of men found Weich's body in a wooded area in the 7200 block of Sample Road, east of Coral Springs High.

Police investigating suspicious death of Coral Springs woman

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. (WSVN) -- The boyfriend of a Coral Springs woman whose body was found in a wooded area on Thursday has stopped cooperating with police.

The body of 38-year-old Magdalena Weich, who had gone missing Tuesday night, was found in a wooded area at around 6 p.m.

According to Coral Springs Police, on Tuesday night, Weich sent her boyfriend, Enrique Macotela, a text message saying she was going to a nearby Barnes and Noble to study. According to a police report, investigators reviewed surveillance video from the bookstore but could not find a woman matching Weich's description or photo.

Macotela is considered a person of interest, but has stopped cooperating with police since Friday afternoon. He has declined to comment on the case and has hired an attorney.

"He was like in shock, he was upset," said Julio Chavez, a friend of Macotela.

Police said no suspect has been named, but investigators have talked with Macotela's attorney. Detectives later acquired a warrant and searched the couple's home to attain more clues as to what led up to Weich's death.
