BUENA PARK, Calif. (Aug. 21) — Canadian police say fugitive murder suspect Ryan Jenkins has been found dead of an apparent suicide in a motel in British Columbia.
Sgt. Duncan Pound of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police border integrity unit says police responded to a call about a dead person in Hope, east of Vancouver, and then called investigators who were part of the massive manhunt for Jenkins.
Jenkins, 32, disappeared last week but his boat was found Wednesday at a marina not far from the U.S.-Canada border south of Vancouver.
Pound says police don't yet know how long Jenkins was at the motel before his body was discovered.

Fugitive Ryan Jenkins found dead: RCMP

VANCOUVER — Fugitive murder suspect Ryan Jenkins has been found dead in a B.C. hotel room.
Jenkins was charged in California with murdering his ex-wife Jasmine Fiore, a swimsuit model whose corpse was found stuffed into a garbage bin about 30 kilometres south of Los Angeles. He was also charged with mutilating her body as_her fingers and teeth had been removed — fingerprints and dental records are often how homicide victims are identified.
Instead, the 28-year-old was identified by the serial number on her breast implants.
After an international manhunt and an apparent attempt to flee U.S. justice by returning to his native Canada, Jenkins apparently gave up his game of hide-and-seek Sunday. His body was found in a hotel room in Hope, 135 kilometres east of Vancouver. Police say he apparently took his own life.
"We were able to determine that it was Ryan Jenkins," said Sgt. Duncan Pound of the RCMP’s Federal Border Integrity Program, during an early evening news conference. "At this point it would be speculation as to how long he had been there."
The find came just hours after RCMP said Jenkins was in Canada, ‘desperate,’ and posing a public danger if approached.
“We don’t want anyone to have interactions with someone who’s obviously desperate to avoid the police right now,” said Pound earlier Sunday. “If someone approaches him, it could trigger the ‘fight or flight’ syndrome.
“Do not approach him — get a licence plate, get a location, get information that can help police, then phone 911.”
Jenkins, 32, has been traced to Blaine and Point Roberts — two Washington-state communities just across the U.S. border from the Lower Mainland — and Pound said earlier Sunday that police believed he was hiding in Canada.
A visit on Sunday to the Vancouver building where mother Nada Jenkins lives turned up no sign of the fugitive’s mom.
A ring on the building’s buzzer marked ‘Jenkins’ instead connected a Province news team with neighbour Mark Lanfranco.
“There have been lots of news crews around, and surveillance on the seawall,” said Lanfranco, 26, an environmental consultant who’s lived in the building for three months.
“It’s a little scary for my girlfriend.
“I’m probably more worried for her than she is for herself.”

Ryan Alexander Jenkins, the reality TV star accused of killing his swimsuit model ex-wife then stuffing her into a suitcase was found dead of an apparent suicide according to Canadian authorities.
Officials believe Jenkins, 32, hung himself in a hotel room in Hope, British Columbia where his body was found.
Police don't yet know how long Jenkins was at the hotel before his body was discovered according to Sgt. Duncan Pound of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police border integrity unit.
Jenkins fled the U.S. late last week as cops sought him in the brutal slaying of model Jasmine Fiore -- and officials began to zero in on the areas around Vancouver and British Columbia over the weekend.
"We're leaving no stone unturned, but we have to play our cards close to our chest right now," Sgt. Duncan Pound told the Associated Press about the investigation.
Jenkins' black SUV and empty boat trailer were found in Washington state, and cops believe the accused killer boarded a boat bound for a remote area where people can walk across the Canadian border last Thursday.
Fiore, 28, was identified using the serial number from her breast implants because her fingers were cut off and her teeth removed, cops said.
Jenkins and Fiore met in Las Vegas last March and were married shortly after. But their relationship apparently turned violent just several months later in June, when Jenkins was charged with battery. He was was also sentenced to 15 months probation in January 2007 for another assault charge in Canada.
Fiore's naked body was discovered in the suitcase in a dumpster in Orange County last week. It is believed she was strangled to death.
Details of the gruesome killing emerged as cops staged an international manhunt for Jenkins, 32, who reportedly had a "blow-out fight" with Fiore the last night she was seen alive, ABC News reported.
"He was getting really angry, and it totally set the tone for the rest of the evening," an insider who was with the couple at the Hilton Hotel in San Diego early Friday morning told ABC.
Jenkins became overcome with jealously when Fiore spent most of her time in the bathroom on the phone and claimed she was talking to her mother.
"He kept screaming, 'Who were you taking to?'" the source said. "At about 1:30, they went up to their room to continue fighting."
Jenkins checked out of the L'Auberge Del Mar, about a half-mile from the Hilton, the following morning withoute Fiore, police said. He reported her missing the same day the suitcase was found.
On "Megan Wants a Millionaire," Jenkins and other men competed for the affections of a woman looking to become a "trophy wife" for a well-to-do suitor. His profile on the show's website lists him as a Calgary investment banker who claims to mold "player girls" into "princesses."
Jenkins, a real estate developer and investor from Canada, claimed he had between $1 million and $2.5 million in assets on the show.
VH1 is no longer airing the show in light of the investigation.
The network is also weighing whether or not it'll air "I Love Money 3," which included Jenkins as a contestant. The show features ex-VH1 reality alumni competing for buckets of cash and was likely to air sometime in 2010.
"Megan Wants a Millionaire" star, Megan Hauserman, told TMZ.com that Jenkins and Fiore met earlier this year in a Las Vegas strip club where Fiore was a dancer, and they were married two days later.

VANCOUVER, British Columbia - Canadian police say fugitive murder suspect Ryan Jenkins has been found dead of an apparent suicide in a motel in British Columbia.
Sgt. Duncan Pound of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police border integrity unit says police responded to a call about a dead person in Hope, east of Vancouver, and then called investigators who were part of the massive manhunt for Jenkins.
The real estate developer and reality show contestant was wanted in California on first-degree murder charges after the mutilated body of his ex-wife was found near Los Angeles.
Jenkins, 32, disappeared last week but his boat was found Wednesday at a marina not far from the U.S.-Canada border south of Vancouver.
Pound says police don't yet know how long Jenkins was at the motel before his body was discovered.
Jenkins was accused of strangling Jasmine Fiore and then reporting her missing the evening of Aug. 15 before fleeing. Fiore's naked, mutilated body was found in a suitcase inside a trash bin in Buena Park, about 20 miles (32 kilometers) southeast of Los Angeles.
Fiore's teeth had been pulled out and her fingers cut off, apparently to impede her identification. Investigators used the serial numbers on her breast implants to identify her, according to the Orange County district attorney's office.
Jenkins and Fiore met in Las Vegas in March and they married a few weeks later.
Lisa Lepore says her 28-year-old daughter had the marriage annulled in May. However, she says Jenkins convinced her daughter to take him back.
Friends said Fiore was a model who worked mainly in Las Vegas and Los Angeles, doing gigs such as being bodypainted at parties. She also was an aspiring actress and had a bit part in a small 2008 horror science-fiction movie, "The Abandoned," according to the Internet Movie Database.
Jenkins was recently a contestant on VH1 reality show "Megan Wants a Millionaire," in which wealthy young men tried to win over a materialistic blonde. The network canceled the show Friday.
He also was a participant in an as-yet-unaired competitive reality series, "I Love Money 3." A VH1 spokesman said no decision has been made on whether or not to run the show.

Re: Ryan Jenkins Model's Alleged Killer Found Dead
I think this man did the world a favor. We have one less predator to worry about now. I doubt he felt guilty about what he did. I think he took his own life because he knew what would happen to him in prison. Ryan Jenkins was a coward, as is the case with all abusers. They don't want to have done to them what they choose to do to others.

Re: Ryan Jenkins Model's Alleged Killer Found Dead
RCMP officers said Monday they have identified the woman who brought Ryan Jenkins to a Hope motel room three days before he committed suicide there.
However, they refused to reveal her name, stating only that she is a "person of interest" in the investigation of the killing of California model Jasmine Fiore, 28.
"We have identified this person. We don't feel there's a risk to the Canadian public, but we can't make any details public," RCMP Federal Border Integrity Program Sgt. Duncan Pound said.

I'm sure Nancy Grace will have plenty more to say about this case tonight.

Re: Ryan Jenkins Model's Alleged Killer Found Dead
I cannot believe that the mother of Ryan Jenkins had the audacity to make excuses for her son. She never once said anything about the victim or her family! This poor excuse for a mom even went on to say that her son was innocent and that he just panicked! Here's a newsflash for her, "Innocent people have no reason to panic"! How can she NOT know about his past history of beating his girlfriends? By not accepting the "reality" of what her son did, she's also not accepting responsibility. She showed what kind of person she is by not acknowledging the victim or her family. It's no wonder why her son turned out the way he did. I have absolutely NO sympathy for this man's family. On top of that, the father is now trying to blame "Hollywood" for corrupting his son!!!! Give me a break! This man is another reason that Ryan Jenkins thought he could get away with anything, including murder!

I agree. Why would an innocent person go on the run, cross the border to Canada, and commit suicide? Give me a break.

Did I dream this or was it really on HLN........... that the woman they have been looking for is his half sister ?

Re: Ryan Jenkins Model's Alleged Killer Found Dead
Hi, Sunni! No, you didn't dream it. I also heard that they believe Ryan's half-sister might be the one who helped him. I believe the father also helped Ryan in avoiding capture. Anyone who's involved in helping him deserves prison time. Hopefully, it will send a message that helping criminals escape the law is NEVER acceptable.Sunni wrote:Did I dream this or was it really on HLN........... that the woman they have been looking for is his half sister ?

Re: Ryan Jenkins Model's Alleged Killer Found Dead
Hi, J4A! I don't believe Ryan killed himself out of remorse either. It was only because he knew what was going to happen to him in prison. He was a coward who was only able to beat up women. The other prisoners would have had a field day with him, and he knew it. This would have been Ryan on his first day in jailJustice4all wrote:Booklover wrote:I cannot believe that the mother of Ryan Jenkins had the audacity to make excuses for her son.
