State Rebuttal Over, Closing Arguments To Be Held Sunday

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- Prosecutors in Casey Anthony's murder trial finished their rebuttal portion of the case on Friday, and the judge said closing arguments will begin on Sunday.

Casey entered the courtroom early Friday morning, wearing a yellow shirt and grey pants. She had her hair pulled back in a tight bun. Her parents, Cindy and George Anthony were both in the courtroom.

The state began its rebuttal on Friday with testimony from a lawyer for the company that once employed her mother, Cindy Anthony.

Gentiva Health Services Chief Compliance Officer John Camperlengo was the first witness called Friday afternoon when the trial resumed after a morning-long recess. Judge Belvin Perry called the recess before jurors entered the courtroom so the defense could take depositions of prosecution witnesses.

Camperlengo answered questions about Cindy's work history during the week of March 17, 2008.

Closing arguments

After the jury instructions are read to the jury, one attorney for each side will be allowed to stand up and make a closing argument. In the closing argument each side attempts to explain the evidence in the manner most advantageous to their client. The state gets to give its closing argument first, followed by the defense. After the defense gives its closing argument the state gets one more chance to stand up, and rebut the argument the defense just provided. The rebuttal closing is supposed to cover only the argument the defense provided and not rehash the state’s entire argument. Lawyer’s refer to the order of the argument as the state having the “sandwich” because the state gets to wrap its arguments around the defense’s argument.

I try to put my head in where the jury would be in all of this, and I think they are going to see a bunch of liars and a defense that has nothing but trickery to insult them into thinking there is any reasonable doubt that KC at least knew Caylee was dead, carried her decomposing body around in her trunk for a few days before dumping her in the swampy wooded area wrapped in 2 garbage bags. Then being as how nobody but KC saw Caylee last, 1+1=2 and that means she was the one responsible for Caylee's death. I think that's a given....then comes did she outright kill her or what? Enter the chloroform searches, the choloroform in the trunk and duct tape on her facial area...and that spells murder. The why/when/where doesn't even matter....KC killed Caylee and went partying with absolutely no remorse over what she'd done or that Caylee was being eaten by animals and bugs while KC was living the Bella Vita. I think this 'no remorse' part will convince the jury this was in no way an accident but rather a 'success story' in KC's mind....which also spells Murder...and since the searches were done in March, it also spells Premeditated.

That's how I see it. This case has many confusing elements to it, but in the end just a few details tell the true story.

The dysfunctional family thing could be a consideration during the sentencing stage....but I doubt it will make much difference to the jury. Lots of people live in dysfunctional families but they don't kill kids and toss them away like garbage and then lie for over 3 years! Some people kill who don't come from dysfunctional families...a person who can kill, will kill if they want to. And KC wanted to.

All fantasy and phantom...........what a defense.

They both got up there and told lies about what the testimony was...they just said whatever they wanted to whether or not the witnesses had actually said it. Actually, what I noticed was they said for truth what they had wanted to elicit from the witnesses but the witnesses hadn't gone along with their suggestive questions...they acted like they witnesses never told them they were wrong...and acted like they had agreed. This is so wrong in so many ways! A new standard for lawyers twisting the evidence!

Also, are they so stupid...or do they think the jury is so stupid that when they harp on anyone being a liar as if it has some meaning that the person was involved in this mess because they lied, they are only driving nails in KC's coffin?

And what about Mason saying that crap about how nothing is 100% except DYING! WTF was he thinking saying something like that in this case of that poor child dying God only really knows how, and being dumped in a swamp?

I really think the defense thinks everyone is stupid but them...which makes them pretty darn stupid if you ask me.

Oh and what about Baez mocking the 'bag of bones'? Is he crazy?

This trial was so over the top...it made OJ's look like a freaking walk in the park! Lies, lies & more lies...everywhere. Complete disrespect for the law & for a court room. Yes, imo, even on the prosecution side. Ashton's laughing & facial expressions weren't any better than Bozo's smart ass remarks. A precious life has been taken. Caylees life! The whole damned court room should have more respect for the child who lost her life.

RIP precious Caylee. Fly high with the angels in heaven.

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Judge Belvin Perry scolded a defense attorney and a prosecutor in Casey Anthony's murder trial Sunday afternoon for an in-court spat.

During defense attorney Jose Baez's closing statement, prosecutor Jeff Ashton could been seen covering a smile with his hand.

"We're not talking about fantasy forensics anymore," Baez said. "We're talking about cold, hard evidence, evidence that points to one person and one person only. He can get up here and lie all he wants and dance all he wants around the truth, and depending on who's asking the questions, whether it's this laughing guy right here or whether it's myself…"

Emotional Day: Tears, Anger, Laughter In Casey Murder Trial

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Casey cried throughout the day and prosecutor Jeff Ashton bellowed an objection after visibly angered Jose Baez referred to him as a "laughing guy."

Sunday marked day 45, including jury selection, of her murder trial.

Casey walked into the courtroom on Sunday wearing a yellow shirt and grey slacks and her hair was tied back into a tight bun. George and Cindy Anthony were in attendance.

Casey became angry and cried on Sunday as prosecutor Jeff Ashton told jurors during closing arguments that she murdered her 2-year-old daughter, Caylee Marie Anthony, because the child prevented her from having a relationship with a club promoter. Casey also became emotional while the state showed video of Casey joyfully playing with Caylee.

FURIOUS GEORGE WASHES HIS HANDS OF KC & BOZO

When George Anthony walked off of the stand his body language showed that he was beyond furious. We have never seen him exhibit such anger before. He stared in Casey's and Jose Baez' direction and curled his lower lip in anger as he also purse his lips together tightly.



As George continues to walk off the stand he gets even more furious and even puffs air around his mouth and cheeks as his lips get even more contorted. He is holding back his rage. At this point he feels like letting loose on Jose Baez, but he is doing all that he can to control himself.

Instead George brushes his hands together as though he is wiping his hands of Casey and Jose Baez. He is saying that he is done with both of them.



As George continues to walk to his seat , turns his head towards Baez and looks at him eyeball to eyeball.. Baez returns the stare. Baez looks a bit surprised as they are in too close proximity to one another. It is a too close for comfort moment that could have been a huge problem had George not been in control.

George is letting Jose know that he is done with being thrown under the bus to save Casey and that she is on her own. George has a straight posture which indicates he is confident about the nonverbal message he is relaying to Baez.

Even the Marshalls are aware of this awkward and potentially volatile situation as they are keeping an eye on the situation and ready to move into action,

I noticed more security around Baez and Casey plus around George there's been a court officer. Today, officers were following the lawyers out of the courthouse and beyond.
