This is a case I have been following as it unfolded on May 11, 2011. It is in Redwater, Bowie County, Texas near the Texas/Arkansas state line (northeast Tx).
It is about a 34 year old mother, Amanda Doss and her two children Texas, age 8, and Guinivere, age 11, who were murdered and their home was set on fire on May 11, 2011. The autopsy indicated they died from violent injuries.
After nearly three months, there was finally a break in the case. The mother of a 17 year old girl (the girl was 16 at the time the murders were committed in May) called Law Enforcement and said her daughter confessed to her. Per the Sheriff of Bowie County the mother does not want the reward of $148,570.00 (for information, arrest and conviction).
In an interview with Law Enforcement, the teen disclosed information that only the killer and LE would know. Also, evidence at the scene indicates the teen is the only suspect in this case.
The teen is being held at an undisclosed juvenile detention facility. Bowie County prosecutors in the case are expected to have the teen certified as an adult to face the capital murder charges.
In Texas, capital murder charges are eligible for the death penalty.

Since I have decided to set up a thread for the Doss murders, I am going to post the previous articles as this case unfolded. Hopefully, within the next two days, I will have the articles posted. I am going to put them in chronological order. Normally that is the way a thread would be set up.
I commend the mother of this 16 year old for doing the right thing and calling Law Enforcement. It is so tragic that a mother and two small children were murdered and the home set on fire to cover the crime. It will be interesting to find out about the motive in this horrific crime. It is unbelievable that a 16 year old girl would murder three people. What kind of monster is this teen!
I will be following this case closely especially during the trial and keep this thread updated. Being that the prosecutors will try to get the teen certified as an adult so this case can be tried as a capital murder case, I would think the trial is one to two years away. It is usually the norm for these type of cases in Texas.

BOWIE CO., TX (KSLA) - A 16-year-old female from the Redwater area has been arrested and charged with three counts of capital murder in the deaths of a Texarkana mother and her two children.
The arrest comes nearly three months to the day after the bodies of 34-year-old Amanda Doss, 8-year-old Texas Johnson and 11-year-old Guinivere Doss were pulled from the smoldering rubble of their rural Bowie County home on May 11th.
Autopsies confirmed all three died from violent injuries prior to the fire, which investigators believe was set to destroy evidence of the murders.
There were no solid suspects until a stunning phone call around 8:30 p.m. Friday from a woman Bowie County Sheriff James Prince describes as "pretty upset and crying," saying she knew who killed Amanda, Texas and Guiniviere. Her daughter had confessed.

Redwater, TX(KSLA)- Family and friends gathered to say goodbye to a Redwater mother and her two childen who were violently murdered in their home on May 11th, before the home was set on fire.
The mother, 34-year-old Amanda Prewett Doss, 11-year-old Guinevere Doss and 8 year old Texas Johnson were found dead in their burning home last week in Redwater, Texas.

Amanda Prewett Doss, age 34, of Texarkana, Texas died Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at her home.
Mrs. Doss was born August 21, 1976 in Muskogee, Oklahoma. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Wake Village, Texas and was a computer analyst.
Amanda was joined in death with her daughter, Guinevere Doss and her son, Texas Johnson.
She is survived by her parents, Glen and Wanda Rothrock Prewett, of Texarkana, Texas, one brother, Bryan Prewett, of Texarkana, Texas, her grandmother, Violet Rothrock, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, three aunts, one uncle and a number of other family members and friends.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, May 21, 2011 at First Baptist Church, Texarkana with Rev. Scott Neathery and Rev. Orville Farren officiating.
The family will receive friends at the church from 3:00 PM until 4:00 PM following the service.
A second funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, may 23, 2011 at Hayhurst Funeral Home in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Burial will follow at Floral Haven Cemetery in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. ~~~

TEXARKANA – Funeral services for Guinevere Eileen Doss, 11, of Texarkana will 2 p.m. Saturday, May 21, 2011, at First Baptist Church of Texarkana with the Rev. Scott Neathery and the Rev. Orville Farren officiating. A second funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday, May 23, 2011, at Hayhurst Funeral Home in Broken Arrow, Okla. Burial will be in Floral Haven Cemetery in Broken Arrow. Arrangements are by Texarkana Funeral Home.
Guinevere died Wednesday, May 11, 2011, at her residence, along with her mother, Amanda Doss, and brother, Texas Johnson. She was born Aug. 4, 1999, in Texarkana. She attended Redwater Middle School. Guinevere was a member of First Baptist Church of Wake Village.
Survivors include her father, Stacy Doss of Austin; grandparents, Dianne and Jerry Doss of Marshall and Glen and Wanda Prewett of Texarkana; one uncle; one aunt; her great-grandfather; great-grandmother; and numerous other relatives.
Visitation will be 3 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the church.

TEXARKANA – Funeral services for Guinevere Eileen Doss, 11, of Texarkana will 2 p.m. Saturday, May 21, 2011, at First Baptist Church of Texarkana with the Rev. Scott Neathery and the Rev. Orville Farren officiating. A second funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday, May 23, 2011, at Hayhurst Funeral Home in Broken Arrow, Okla. Burial will be in Floral Haven Cemetery in Broken Arrow. Arrangements are by Texarkana Funeral Home.
Guinevere died Wednesday, May 11, 2011, at her residence, along with her mother, Amanda Doss, and brother, Texas Johnson. She was born Aug. 4, 1999, in Texarkana. She attended Redwater Middle School. Guinevere was a member of First Baptist Church of Wake Village.
Survivors include her father, Stacy Doss of Austin; grandparents, Dianne and Jerry Doss of Marshall and Glen and Wanda Prewett of Texarkana; one uncle; one aunt; her great-grandfather; great-grandmother; and numerous other relatives.
Visitation will be 3 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the church.

Texas Johnson, age 8, of Texarkana, Texas died Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at his home.
Texas was born May 6, 2003 in Texarkana, Texas. He attended Redwater Elementary School, and also attended First Baptist Church, Wake Village, Texas and Grace Baptist Church. He was active in Awanas and Boy Scouts.
Texas was joined in death with his mother, Amanda Doss, and his sister, Guinevere Doss.
He is survived by his dad, Brad Johnson, of Texarkana, Texas, his grandparents, Glen and Wanda Prewett, of Texarkana, Texas and his grandmother, Daina Johnson, of DeQueen, Arkansas, one uncle, Melvin Johnson, of Redwater, Texas and a number of other family members and friends.

Autopsies have shown the three died a violent death prior to the home being set on fire. It’s been over a week now, and police have few leads.
Perhaps if more folks were made aware of this heinous crime, tips and leads would increase and justice served in this horrific murder.
Sadly, the nation’s focus has been on things like the Casey Anthony trial and Arnold’s love child.

sitemama, this is a horrific tragedy. A mother and her two children killed!
At this time, Law Enforcement are not disclosing details of how Amanda and her children were killed. They do not want to jeopardize or compromise the prosecution of this case. They were able to determine the injuries based on the autopsy. The fire was secondary to their murder.
Law Enforcement have not disclosed the motive by the teen. The teen was 16 when these murders were committed. She is now 17. The State of Texas will start the process of hopefully getting the teen certified as an adult. If she is tried as an adult, she will be eligible for the death penalty if the State of Texas seeks the death penalty.
You will find that cases in Texas do not disclose a lot of information prior to trial. We do not try our cases in the media like Florida does (Casey Anthony case). Florida is a Sunshine Law state and they have doc dumps prior to trial if the media or individuals are willing to pay for the documents.
In Texas, the exhibits will be entered into evidence at trial.
Today when I decided I would start a thread on Amanda and her children and keep the thread updated through trial, I posted links to many articles . . . starting on Page 1 as this case unfolded. I tried to post the articles in chronological order.
I know you may not be familiar with Texas law. It's not Florida and I am happy for that! I think many folks are use to doc dumps because of the Casey Anthony case. It won't happen in Texas. Our cases are not tried in the media.
For example, it is expected that Mona Yvette Nelson, who is charged with the murder of Jonathan Foster, may go to trial in the first quarter of 2012. The Harris County District Attorney's Office, Houston, Harris County, Tx, who will be prosecuting the case for the State of Texas, have not disclosed info about the evidence they will be presenting during trial. And . . . they won't. It does not work that way in Texas.
There may be additional info disclosed in the Doss et al cases but I would think not very much.
In one of the articles I posted up-thread, the reporter did a great job of explaining how the case will proceed and the process of getting the teen certified as an adult. Not super detailed but enough info to give one info as to what the process will be.
This teen is not the first delinquent to be certified as an adult in Texas.

If she is certified as an adult, her name will be disclosed at that time with her mug shot.

There has not been much info on this case after Rachel Pittman was charged with the murders of Amanda Doss and her two children.
Rachel was 16 years old at the time of the murders and was considered a juvenile per Texas law. Shortly after the murders she turned 17 but, per Texas law, the age she was at the time of the crime is what is considered.
The judge placed a gag order in this case and the last I heard several months ago was that the District Attorney (in the county in which the crime was committed) was going to determine if the DA's office would go through the process of having the teen certified as an adult and be tried as an adult.
Apparently that happened, because the teen has now been identified as Rachel Nicole Pittman and has been booked into a Texas jail versus juvenile detention. Per the above article, Pittman's bond has been set at $3 million.
At least we now know the identity of the person who allegedly committed these horrific, henious murders of a mother and her two children.
Being that the charges are Capital Murder (times 3), Pittman would be eligible for the death penalty if the DA seeks the death penalty.

As the murder case of Amanda Doss and her two children, Texas Johnson and Guinivere Doss unfolded (May, 2011), I posted several articles on THM regarding these henious murders.
About three months (in August, 2011) after the murder, the mother of a teen, who was 16 at the time of the murders, called the Bowie County Sheriff's Office (BCSO) and stated her daughter confessed to her regarding these murders.
The mother arranged for her daughter to meet with Bowie County Sheriff James Prince. The teen described the incident to Sheriff Prince, which was consistent with what the investigators observed at the scene and the autopsy reports.
The girl’s mother refused to have any of the $145,570 in reward money pledged to the person who helped catch and convict the killer.
At age 16 the teen was considered a juvenile and her name was not released to the public. A judge issued a gag order in this case and there has been limited info since then other than the teen was charged with 3 counts of murder and was in juvenile detention at an undisclosed location. The gag order is still in place.
The teen, who was 16 at the time of the murders (but turned 17 shortly after), has been certified as an adult and will be tried as an adult. Her name, Rachael Pittman, has now been released. She has been moved from juvenile detention to Bi-State Justice center (jail) in Texarkana, Bowie County, Tx.
There are 3 Capital Murder charges against her. Being that she is certified as an adult, she is now eligible for the death penalty if the Bowie County District Attorney's Office seeks the death penalty.
Pittman allegedly murdered Doss and her two children and then set the house on fire to destroy the evidence and apparently make it look like they died in the fire. Their was very little left of the home due to the fire.
Per the autopsy report, the victims were murdered and died before the fire.
The following has been breaking news today in the Bowie County (Texarkana) area as well as by Houston, Tx area media which also covered this case as it unfolded.

A 17-year-old northeast Texas girl has been charged as an adult with three capital murder counts in the deaths of a Texarkana mother and her two children.
Rachel Nicole Pittman was booked Tuesday into the Bi-State Justice Building jail in Texarkana, Texas. Bond is set at $3 million. Online jail records do not list an attorney for the Redwater girl.

Because she was 16 at the time of the crime, Pittman will not be eligible for the death penalty if convicted. But she could face life in prison.

A Texas teenager has been certified to stand trial as an adult in the deaths of a woman and her two children with ties to Tulsa.
Rachel Nicole Pittman, 17, was booked into a Texarkana, Texas, jail on one count of capital murder with multiple deaths linked to the slayings of Amanda Doss, 34; Guinevere Doss, 11; and Texas Johnson, 8.
Doss and her two children were found dead early May 11 in their burning home in Redwater, Texas, about 15 miles southwest of Texarkana. Investigations determined that the deaths were not a result of the fire.
Doss was born in Muskogee, but her family moved soon thereafter. Her grandparents and many other relatives live in Tulsa and Broken Arrow. She and her children were buried at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens in Broken Arrow.
