I have a question, If they find items in a damn, Will they be able to get any type of DNA? I thought if items were underwater it would degrade the DNA. If they found a pink blanket and diaper bag, How would they know it belong to this baby? I am sure the father will not say, yea thats her blanket and diaper bag. The mother might not know it hers, because she would not know what was bought for this child while he was with the father. So if they can't get the DNA on the items found, how are they going to connect any items to this child. I don't see father, grandmother or aunt cooperating to identify items.

Hi Snowbird,

LE has collected a lot of documents and photos, evidence in that way that are evidence in and of themselves and ways to ihelp identify others perhaps.

I do not know for sure, but humidity and water are not great for the retention of DNA.

So sad. As parents we always want to take the pain away from our kids. But as bloggers I feel the same way for these parents that truely have no idea where their kids went to and have not ever been found. They are growing into a group of parents that go day by day sitting and growing old and never getting answers. There have to be answers for them, being good or bad and some kind of closure. I pray everyday that. This world we live in will stop this kind of madness. I can not imagine the pain and hope I never do. I have lost a granddaughter at 5 months but still try to celebrate her life. What do you do when you can not even celebrate the joy they bought to you cause your life is in limbo somewhere between heaven and hell.

Ayla Reynolds: Police Comb Areas Where Snow Has Melted for Missing Maine Toddler!



The winter snow has melted and Maine police are once again intensifying their search for missing toddler Ayla Bell Reynolds, who disappeared from her father’s home on Dec. 17, 2011.
Nearly 100 volunteers, firefighters and officers plan to search the Waterville, Maine area today in hopes that the bare land will yield new clues that will lead them to Ayla, who will turn 2-years-old on April 4.

Organizers implored landowners in the area to watch for anything unusual on their property that could be related to the case.

Justin doesn't strike me as a rocket scientist, hopefully Alya is recovered due to his incompetence. These searcher's also serve as a reminder to Justin & his family, LE DOESN'T BELIEVE your BS story, they are going to keep LOOKING, there is no statute of limitations on murder, especially a child.

khintx, smething that makes me terribly sad is to think of Jeff Ashton's statement about "how small Caylee's skeleton was." In little Ayla's case, she was smaller than Caylee, I pray they find her.

She seemed like such a delightful little girl, dancing & smiling/laughing, life isn't fair in so many of these cases, these parent's can be beyond sorry, I don't see this changing in my lifetime.

Does anyone know about an alleged GJ convening in this past January about this case?

I would first like to start by thanking the wonderful hosts of Reality Chatter for being so welcoming and warm to the THM refugees.
I was registered at THM but never posted just read.
For some reason I feel very comfortable here and think I can come out of my shell so to speak.
The Ayla Reynolds case is so sad and I hope it reaches a conclusion soon .
I can't for the life of me imagine anyone wanting to hurt this beautiful child or any other of the many many missing children that we hear about.
Thank You RC for giving the most vulnerable of our population a voice.

I believe they are referring to the place from where she disappeared and not where they are holding the Presser.

The Presser wil most likely be held at MSP Headquarters, I think.

They can hold onto a warrant.
It does not mean that they do not have one.

Once it gets submitted, then any LE can pick him up.
Perhaps MSP wants exclusive pick up rights?

Being a glass-is-half-full kinda gal, I am hoping that LE is effecting arrests at this very moment and will be announcing it at their press conference a little over an hour from now.

Police said Thursday that it is highly unlikely missing toddler Ayla Reynolds will be found alive but said the investigation and search will continue.

“We think it is highly unlikely Ayla Reynolds will be found alive,” Maine Department of Public Safety Spokesman Stephen McCausland said at a Thursday afternoon press conference. “Nothing points in that direction.”

Ayla’s parents were notified Thursday for the first time that police believe it is unlikely she is still alive. Officials met Tuesday morning to review the case and made the determination, McCausland said.

Ayla’s mother, Trista Reynolds, was thankful for the information, McCausland said. Ayla’s father was more reserved.

“His reaction was no reaction,” McCausland said.

A $30,000 reward being offered in the case will be withdrawn in 30 days, said John Nale, a Waterville attorney who initially posted the money on behalf of several area businesses and individuals.

Nale and police urged anyone who knows what happened to Ayla to come forward.
“Your continued silence can only hurt,” Nale said. “This case is not going to go away. Some day you will be held accountable.”

The 20-month-old Reynolds disappeared from her Violette Avenue home Dec. 17. State and local police say they believe the three adults who were in the house the night she disappeared — her father, Justin DiPietro, his girlfriend, Courtney Roberts and his sister, Elisha DiPietro — know more than they are saying.

Stephen McCausland, spokesman for the state Department of Public Safety, said police told Justin and Ayla’s mother, Trista Reynolds, of Portland, around noon today that police think it unlikely that their child is alive.

He said Trista Reynolds understood and was thankful for the call. A witness at the scene said Trista Reynolds and other family members wailed and sobbed on hearing the news.
