The prosecutor in the Jodi Arias case is more concerned about grandstanding than he is about justice — that’s the charge the murder suspect’s friend is making in an exclusive interview with RadarOnline.com.
As the nation continues to be transfixed by the bombshell trial against the woman accused of murdering her ex-boyfriend, 30-year-old Travis Alexander, Arias’ friend Gus Searcy thinks televising the court proceedings in Phoenix, Arizona was a mistake.
He says: “I think the prosecution is more interested in getting the death penalty than the truth. He has watched too many episodes of L.A. Law.”
Searcy says he spoke to his former co-worker just two weeks before she stabbed her Mormon ex-boyfriend 27 times, before slitting his throat and shooting him in his Mesa apartment on June 4, 2008. Arias, now 32, visited him in Las Vegas, and he could overhear her allegedly arguing with Alexander.
He says: “Travis called and I heard him yell at her…and then she ducked in fear like she was dodging a bullet. The moment he started cussing her, she totally gave in to him.”
Worried about her emotional wellbeing and her financial state, Searcy lent Jodi a cell phone, which went on to become a key piece of evidence.
She used it to record a kinky phone sex conversation she had with the deceased — a conversation that was played in court this week.
Less than two weeks later, Jodi called Searcy telling him Travis was dead. He says: “She called at 3:30…the night he died and was crying hysterically saying Travis had been killed.
“I asked her what happened, and she said… she ‘didn’t know…’
“I asked if she needed a ride anywhere and she said she was going to rent a car. When I asked her where she was she said: ‘Northern California’.”
Jodi’s story has since changed.
She now admits she killed her ex. She also lied to Searcy about her whereabouts, and she wasn’t heading to California. Instead she drove to Utah to meet another love interest, Ryan Burns.
But Searcy still has faith in his friend and believes her story of self-defense, saying: “Travis was twice as big as her and strong. He could beat the crap out of her in a heartbeat.
“If she was really going to premeditatedly kill him, why would she not blow him away as soon as he opened the door…?
“I know he had a temper, and I think that temper went off, and she started to defend herself… Then she just lost it and went nuts.
“And then afterwards realized, ‘What the hell did I do?’
“I believe it started as self-defense and then the rage exploded and let loose.”
Searcy says he can understand why Jodi subsequently lied about what happened on the night Travis died.
“I think any person would do the same thing. If you have killed someone then you would be scared to death,” he says.
Indicating he doesn’t think trials should be a popularity contest, he adds: “We have equal justice for all, it doesn’t have an asterisk saying ‘only people we like.’
“Everyone needs to get a fair trial,” he says.
Arias resumes her testimony in the trial Tuesday morning, and RadarOnline.com will resume its live stream coverage at that time.

"There's an unwritten message that there doesn't seem to be any consequences to these types of behaviors. It teaches children this is acceptable behavior.... "

During almost a full day of testimony, the witness was able to fully express his criticisms of the purported defects in the evaluations performed by the other psychiatrists and psychologists in this case, and his opinions of the relative fitness of the parties for parental responsibilities, even though he never met Father.
The trial court ultimately found that Dr. Geffner was simply a "hired gun" and that his testimony was completely without merit. In light of the deference that the appellate court is required to give to the credibility determinations of the trial court, it appears unlikely to us that any additional testimony that Dr. Geffner might have been allowed to give would have had any effect on the ultimate outcome of this case. We find that the trial court acted within its discretion by imposing a discovery sanction on his testimony and that, in any event, Mother has not demonstrated how his testimony was in fact limited in a way that affected the outcome. "

Gus Searcy never testified in front of the jury, did he?
When he mouthed off re the unknown "witness" in his car who sposedly heard JA state in a call @ 3 AM Travis was dead, was there a jury present?
Would like to know what happened to Alyce? Maybe, this is the reason the judge is allowing Geffner to testify, the man who edited Alyce's books? Do you think she was found to be uncredible, too hostile a witness, etc., and was dismissed? BTW, there WERE jury questions for her... but she never returned! Her anxiety attacks too much? Book ratings took too much of a hit? That lady has a LOT of anger issues!

" PHOENIX - A mutual friend of accused murderer Jodi Arias and victim Travis Alexander is speaking out for the first time since he testified for the defense in January.
Daniel Freeman was the friend caught in the middle. He was closer to Alexander, but so charmed by Arias he considered her part of his family.
“She was like a sister. She was part of the family and in my family when you’re a friend you’re family,” said Freeman of his once close relationship to Arias.
Freeman said what most people don’t know is that he was closer to Alexander, but wanted to give Arias the benefit of the doubt when fingers instantly pointed her way after Alexander was found dead.
Arias faces a possible death sentence if convicted of first-degree murder in the June 2008 killing of Alexander in his suburban Phoenix home.
“I kind of defended her and said ‘you know I don't know if she did it or not, but I can't treat her like she has unless I know, and the person I know wouldn't have done it,” said Freeman.
Freeman said he now realizes he really didn’t know Arias all that well.
On the day she was arrested a friend called to “rub” it in, but the news came an hour after his brother committed suicide and Freeman was consumed by a different tragedy.
“At that point, it really didn’t matter," said Freeman.
Freeman visited Arias several times in jail, but the visits soon stopped. He just needed to move on.
“People would tell me to go see her when I was in town. I would think about it, but then never went,” said Freeman.
In 2010 Freeman was told he could be called to testify for either the prosecution or the defense and not to watch news reports.
He didn’t watch the news and his friends held back telling him things.
“My grandmother has watched the entire trial and hasn’t told me a thing,” said Freeman.
So Freeman had never heard Arias’ third and final claim that she killed in self-defense. He only knew the intruder story.
Arias’ attorneys called him to testify with only two choices, come on his own free will or be subpoenaed.
“I was just there to tell the truth and whoever called me would've got the same answers” said Freeman.
When Freeman took the stand he said Arias didn’t look like the Jodi he knew.
“Whey started the questioning that’s when I realized they were trying to paint Travis as the bad guy. Sitting on the stand, I kind of smiled because I knew that wouldn't work. He was a good guy - there wasn't anything bad in anything I ever saw,” recalled Freeman.
Freeman remembers looking over to Arias wondering what was she thinking, but only got a blank stare in return.
He also recalls looking over at Prosecutor Juan Martinez chuckling with Detective Estaban Flores. He said he knew Martinez was about to make him a witness for the prosecution and he welcomed it.
“At least it crossed my mind and whether or not it crossed his I don't know. But what crossed my mind was he realized I was just telling the truth and that I wasn't for the defense and that most of what I said he could actually use,” Freeman told ABC15
Arias’ final story that Alexander physically, emotionally and sexually abused her was too much for Freeman.
“To me, I see someone who was a good man being dragged through the mud. We all have our weaknesses; we all have the things in our lives that we struggle with that are vices and it's not often that we have all our vices and dirty laundry dragged out for the whole world to see.”
In court, Freeman told jurors Arias and Alexander fought, but nothing out of the ordinary from a typical couple.
He said Alexander wanted to move on, but Arias just kept coming around and Alexander had trouble saying “no” to her.
"When you're living a lifestyle that conflicts with your belief's to the degree with what Travis was doing, to me, that was why he said he couldn't marry her. He told me that before he said 'I love her, I care about her, but I can't marry her.'”
And as for Arias’ latest claims in court, Freeman shakes his head.
“I don't believe her story. He (Travis) was murdered."

Shit, even Good Morning American managed to get my number and my cell phone # isn't listed anywhere, or even in my name. Media will do whatever they can to get interviews with certain people."

When I saw your friend in that courtroom on Thursday, May 16--and saw how distressed she was--I figured she had been dragged in way over her head--she was being worked on--and I felt badly for her. There were accusations about her dress and appearance and it is on the record here that I set the record straight by reporting that she was appropriate in both dress and demeanor.

Patti may sound like she's always screwed up on something.. But honestly, she's always sounded like that.. heh. She's a bit of a ditz, we've made many-a-blonde jokes on her account.. But for those of use who know and love Patti, it's very endearing to us! She is very emotionally driven, cries a lot, wears her heart on her sleeve. I think the many many serious seizures she has had over time, has done some damage to her brain. She was hospitalized shortly after not showing up to testify and because she had had multiple grand mal seizures in a row, her doctor thought she might of had a small stroke.. Luckily, tests proved that wasn't true.. But still scary!
Nobody realizes that she's a victim of Jodi too.

Patty panicked because she had learned that Martinez had the right to question her credibility; particularly on the issues of her undeclared income and her drug use history. The State of Arizona paid to fly her down from Yreka and when, in an interview with the Prosecutor on May 15th, she learned that she was subject to cross-examination on those issues, she indicated that she wanted to take the Fifth. Patty showed up in Court on the 16th of May and refused to co-operate. They got her a lawyer over the long week-end to advise her. The Judge offered to hear her testimony in a closed hearing. Court was adjourned.
Court resumed on Monday, May 20th. Patty was a no-show. There was no mention of intimidation, by the "Mob," before that Monday when Nurmi tried to distort the real reasons why she wasn't there by claiming, "Miss Womack was the subject of intimidation over the week-end." Nurmi and Wilmott tossed Brewer; asked to be relieved of their responsibilities as Defense Counsel and, when that was refused by Judge Stephens, they refused to put on a Mitigation case. It all went over to the next day with Arias's Allocution and we all know the rest.
Womack didn't show up 'cause she didn't want to be questioned by the Prosecutor. The intimidation by your "Medieval Football Team" had nothing to do with it. That was after the fact, (think Thursday, May 16) and just a fabrication she used to get the hell out of there. ... "

Nurmi and Wilmott tossed Brewer; asked to be relieved of their responsibilities as Defense Counsel and, when that was refused by Judge Stephens, they refused to put on a Mitigation case. It all went over to the next day with Arias's Allocution and we all know the rest.
Womack didn't show up 'cause she didn't want to be questioned by the Prosecutor. The intimidation by your "Medieval Football Team" had nothing to do with it. That was after the fact, (think Thursday, May 16) and just a fabrication she used to get the hell out of there. ... "

Secondly, Patti didn't show up because a) she was scared, YES the threats were real. b) she wasn't subpenoaed and c) the defense wanted her to testify about Jodi's, "childhood abuse"..
Patti never witnessed any type of abuse therefore could not give the defense what they wanted.
I can't even BEGIN to explain how sickening and downright fucking infuriating it has been to see and hear this bullshit game of telephone over the internet. I have not read a single TRUE thing about Patti, that have been written by others... A big special thanks to Chris Stark and The Admins at the State Vs. Jodi Arias page.. They are the two main factors in this...
Spreading around a fake criminal record (they couldn't even spell heroin correctly) saying she's being investigated by Child Services, that she's been arrested for DUI/Heroin/Pills/Possession with intent to sell.. Really, I could go on and on. But I can tell you the ONE true thing. Failing to report the income she received from licensing fees from the pictures she sold to
Nancy Grace. This was an honest mistake as she had just completed her monthly report and also that her royalties were paid in increments.. Also, she didn't receive BANK for those pictures.. you could hardly call it bank. hah. I can guarantee that Dave Hall made THREE times the amount of money for selling his video of Travis shooting a rifle.
Also, Patti has never once contacted the media.. They have been relentless in contacting her.. By phone, facebook, email, mail and showing up at her home. It's a, "15 minutes of fame" that she NEVER wanted. They weren't just friends as kids, they were friends way beyond that, Jodi was a bridesmaid in her wedding, as an ADULT.
All of this stress has taken a major toll on Patti's health. She has epilepsy and has been hospitalized several times since all of this has started due to grand mal seizures. She has had them for as long as I've known her, and that's over 23 years.
She is not an addict, she is a wonderful and very much so involved mother. She has NO criminal record, (except for the fake one Chris Stark posted where she can't even spell Heroin correctly) Child protective services is NOT monitoring her, she didn't evade any taxes, (that issue was resolved immediately) the, "drug use" that Martinez refers to is from when Patti and Jodi were 13 years old for christ sake!! And they were growing a tiny pot plant in a tupperware, not some large scaled pot operation on the roof.. heh.
Anyway, I'm just trying to clear the air a bit. I love Patti dearly and just cannot stand seeing all of these false allegations about her. ..."
