JA does the "mirror image" of others and tries to steal their history/experiences for herself.

JA supposedly was a "foreign exchange" student to.... Costa Rica!
With some family who... had the same name as hers!

Has anyone actually checked to see if she was a foreign exchange student?
What year?
Which program?
What family? (Normally, kids are NOT allowed to date let alone others in that family!!!)

(Wasn't that snooping in the window from Dec 2007? If so, then the "baptismal sex" would have been out and out a lie! )

So interesting! I hadn't thought of the strange Costa Rica coincidence. JA was a high school dropout. I have a hard time believing that she was a top-tier student prior to and right up to the time she dropped out. High school exchange student opportunities usually go to top-notch students. Furthermore, exchange student opportunities are not free as there are many expenses that must be met by the traveling student's family that are in addition to any "awards" a student might receive. The portrait JA tries to paint of her family life is not one in which supportive parents knock themselves out to afford expensive student exchange activities.

If I remember correctly, the young man from Costa Rica was named Victor Arias. Hmm, JA's surname and Travis's middle name. Coincidence or more story telling? I'll bet my money on the later. I believe that Victor Arias really does exist as I remember seeing a group pic that he was in, however, it's hard to say how they really met or what their real history is. It would not surprise me to learn that he is really a cousin or distant relative that JA built a story around to make TA jealous. Yep, sounds about right, IMO.

Yep, freckles, you are right about that. JA certainly does borrow others stories and history and make them her own.

1. Grades and recommendations would be needed
2. Student usually needs to have specified independent cash
3. Grade/age requirement (often 15-18; 10-12 grade)
4. Specific program usually requiring school enrollment or a program
  (Eisenhower program is for jr high and programs for science such as
   space, marine science, etc.)
5. Summer programs are 2 wks to 3 months in duration.

*These are NOT "vacation" style programs!
These are educational ONLY.
Hence "FOREIGN EXCHANGE FOR STUDENTS.

The fact he then came to the USA would indicate either her family cross hosted him OR he IS a relative!  And just because she flashed some pic of some guy does NOT mean he is anything more than a fantasy as she is a known conniver and liar.... Where are these mystery males who supposedly had these hot and heavy relationships with her? Do they only exist on the internet? (Darryl B is real; I would imagine Matt M is real based upon what Juan M had to say....NONE of the others live in the USA! How odd is that??? Shoot. My family was 'host family' for many exchange students throughout the years. There were more rules and requirements for the families than for the students and one of these rules were, that's right: "NO DATING!" If my brother wanted to date the model-pretty girl from Venezuela? TOO BAD! If I wanted to date the handsome, sweet and funny boy from Africa? TOO BAD! We were supposed to treat them like brothers/sisters. So, uh, it's either a lie to make her seem more interesting or it shows how messed up Jodi's mind is and how she absolutely has no boundaries. Double-headed win, I say.

It would be a simple thing to prove. There should be documents that she did take part in an exchange program - if I remember correctly, there was a LOT of paperwork for students to fill out. And even when they got here, they often got a 'book' of papers to read. Where are these documents now?

In addition to their commonalities, sociopaths and psychopaths also have their own unique behavioral characteristics, as well.

Sociopaths tend to be nervous and easily agitated. They are volatile and prone to emotional outbursts, including fits of rage. They are likely to be uneducated and live on the fringes of society, unable to hold down a steady job or stay in one place for very long. It is difficult but not impossible for sociopaths to form attachments with others. Many sociopaths are able to form an attachment to a particular individual or group, although they have no regard for society in general or its rules. In the eyes of others, sociopaths will
appear to be very disturbed. Any crimes committed by a sociopath, including murder, will tend to be haphazard, disorganized and spontaneous rather than planned.

Psychopaths, on the other hand, are unable to form emotional attachments or feel real empathy with others, although they often have disarming or even charming personalities. Psychopaths are very manipulative and can easily gain people’s trust. They learn to mimic emotions, despite their inability to actually feel them, and will appear normal to unsuspecting people. Psychopaths are often well educated and hold steady jobs. Some are so good at manipulation and mimicry that they have families and other long-term relationships without those around them ever suspecting their true nature.

When committing crimes, psychopaths carefully plan out every detail in advance and often have contingency plans in place. Unlike their sociopathic counterparts, psychopathic criminals are cool, calm, and meticulous. Their crimes, whether violent or non-violent, will be highly organized and generally offer few clues for authorities to pursue. Intelligent psychopaths make excellent white-collar criminals and "con artists" due to their calm and charismatic natures.

The cause of psychopathy is different than the cause of sociopathy (1). It is believed that psychopathy is the result of “nature” (genetics) while sociopathy is the result of “nurture” (environment). Psychopathy is related to a physiological defect that results in the underdevelopment of the part of the brain responsible for impulse control and emotions. Sociopathy, on the other hand, is more likely the product of childhood trauma and physical/emotional abuse. Because sociopathy appears to be learned rather than innate, sociopaths are capable of empathy in certain limited circumstances but not in others, and with a few individuals but not others.

Psychopathy is the most dangerous of all antisocial personality disorders because of the way psychopaths dissociate emotionally from their actions, regardless of how terible they may be. Many prolific and notorious serial killers, including the late Ted Bundy and John Wayne Gacy, and Dennis Rader ("Bind, Torture, Kill" or BTK) are unremorseful psychopaths. Psychopathic killers view their innocent victims as inhuman objects to be tormented and violated for their amusement. .....,"

"....Research and observations show that managerial psychopaths possess many self-serving and/or maladaptive emotions, such as: Arrogance, grandiosity, pleasure, anger, rage, hostility, contempt, overweening, envy, jealousy, greed, suspiciousness, impatience, and irritability. Because of their superficial charm, people often misperceive their impulsivity and unscrupulousness as being courageous and determined, and mistake their self-inflation and self-admiration as signs of self confidence.

On the other hand, research and observations also reveal that psychopaths are severely deficient in pro-other emotions, such as: Love, compassion, gratefulness, peacefulness, pleasantness, sympathy, guilt, remorse, empathy, and general moral emotions (e.g., shame, anxiety, and fear). Certainly, they pretend to mimic the emotions, but theirs are very shallow and artificial.

One question remains to be answered: Why do emotionally intelligent, nice people often become the victims of the psychopaths, who have abusive tempers and exhibit glibness, irresponsibility, and deception with an excessive need for control and interference corresponding to their sense of incompetency? In my observations, this is because managerial psychopaths use emotions, including your emotions, to advance their interests.

Let me use a midlevel manager as an example. He used three typical tricks to defeat his victims:

First, he constantly told lies to another as long as it helped maintain his control over the person. The victim, who attempted to communicate with the manager always met frustrations because the boss always denied what he did or justified his actions by saying "What's wrong with it?"

Second, although the manager had no guilty feelings, he managed to make his abused victim feel inadequate by repeating "It is Ok" (right after his violent emotional outburst against the person who disagreed with him). Basically, he made the victim feel that the victim's normal emotional reaction to the abuse was overreacting. As the result, the victim felt guilty.

Third, he was good at using another's empathy. Although anger was his primary temper for controlling others, he was excelled in shifting his emotional expressions from extreme angry to extreme sadness, automatically or voluntarily. Suddenly, he appeared to be a helpless and sad person, needing immediately to be babied by others, arousing his victims' empathy right away (This shift is part of his performance, different from the emotional instability as observed in borderline personality disorders). ..."

Yes, indeed. I believe that there is probably more to the Costa Rica story or fantasy. Maybe she made it up to make Travis jealous or in an attempt to seem well-traveled and more worldly. I would be surprised to learn that JA even has a passport and I doubt she would have spent the money to travel twice to Costa Rica considering that she always lived day-to-day financially. Maybe Victor Arias (if that's his real name) isn't even from Costa Rica?

The owner says she ignored her guests in favor of giving males attention. She was very flirtatious with the good looking guys. Of special concern was when he witnessed a guest come into the restaurant and Jodi lied to him by saying she had just moved to town and would like a tour,” she finished.

“What does this tell you as a Clinical Psychologist?”

“The behavior is aggressive and does not demonstrate a lack of self-esteem,” she stated as she set the exhibit down.

Juan Martinez put a new exhibit up and it was a statement from Arias’ half-sister, Julie. She told a story of Arias leaving the memorial service for Travis Alexander and boarding a plane. She met a guy named Nick, exchanged phone numbers and called him the next day from her house....."

Hmm. Maybe she met him in California when HE was traveling. Juan has never ripped into the Costa Rica trip as being another example of how much JA lies; however, I would bet there are too many examples of Stabby's lies for Juan to cover all of them. What do you think? Do you think that JA actually went to Costa Rica?
