Hi Freckles,

According to the prosecution, only one gun was used to murder Odin Lloyd. The Commonwealth's ballistics expert said that the five shell casings that were found at the scene of the crime and the one that was found inside the rental car, the Nissan Altima, were consistent with having been fired from a Glock.

Hernandez co-conspirators didn't testify, Ernest Wallace plead no guilty and told Hernandez cousin that he wasn't going to "la la laing" ... I guess that means that he was not going to "sing". The other co-conspirator, Carlos Ortiz, sang like a canary but kept changing his story so the prosecution decided not to use him because he was an unreliable witness, "Charlie Boy" ultimately plead no guilty. They will be tried separately.

I would like to add that the DNA of both men, Hernandez and Lloyd, on the blunt that was found at the scene of the crime, according to the defense, can be easily explained by the fact that they both smoked Marijuana, both rolled joints or blunts, and they were partying together the night before. According to the prosecution, it proves that Hernandez was present when the crime occurred.

Lawyers to joust in Aaron Hernandez case today

Lawyers on both sides in the murder trial of former New England Patriots star Aaron Hernandez will make legal arguments before the judge Friday, with the jury not expected to return until Monday when the defense is to begin presenting its case.

The issues under consideration Friday include the language of the instructions Judge E. Susan Garsh will give to the jury after the defense case concludes.

The attorneys are also expected to clash over a defense request to call Dr. David J. Greenblatt as an expert witness.

Greenblatt is an expert on the effects of PCP use on the brain, and prosecutors want the judge to keep him from testifying.

I can only imagine how painful this most be for Lloyd's family.

Lloyd's mother left the courtroom in tears when the ME testified yesterday.

Neither the family nor the jurors are present in the court today, only the lawyers for both sides and the judge are present. The hearing is open to the public, and the media is there.

Am I missing something, or is Sultan?  Wasn't there testimony that two shell casings were found embedded in the dirt/ground under OL's body?  That would indicate to me he was shot while on the ground.

^^^I don't think that you are missing anything. That is how I interpret the evidence of the bullets embedded in the ground underneath Odin Lloyd's body. I have no idea why Sultan believes that point is arguable.

I absolutely believe that AH is the one that planned and carried out the murder and EW and CO were just accomplices. However, there is one thing about AH's "plan" that baffles me. Why on earth did AH think that he needed EW and CO to help him carry out his plan? It seems to me that he would have concerned himself with the fact that he would create two eyewitnesses to his crime. One would think that AH would have learned a lesson after "allegedly" committing the Boston double-murders. It seems that AH later decided that he would need to eliminate the eyewitness to those murders and he then attempted to kill Alexander Bradley. My guess is that Alexander Bradley probably tried to blackmail him and the argument was over hush-money and not a bar tab. That would explain AH going to the Patriots a week later and requesting a trade to get away from Bristol area gang members who were trying to get at his money. That is all speculation on my part, but I just don't understand what role, or purpose, AH anticipated that EW or CO would fill in his plan. Maybe he just thought that "steppin with the boys" would provide an alibi...but, it also created two eyewitnesses that he would need to worry about in the future. What was AH thinking? Why include Bo and Charley Boy? What am I missing?

Good points MyLife. I think AH, being an excellent football player but not such a good rocket scientist, thought if his boys pulled the trigger, he was home free. It seems he threw his money around generously to his friends. Also, he was fried on Maryjane most of the tme. I believe judgement was profoundly impaired. Makes you wonder how he ever passed any drug tests given by NFL if there was ever one given.

FALL RIVER, Mass. – The judge overseeing the murder trial of former New England Patriots player Aaron Hernandez heard vigorous arguments Friday from prosecutors and the defense on how she should instruct the jury to interpret evidence, including parts of witness testimony.

In particular, defense attorney James Sultan asked Superior Court Judge Susan Garsh to remind the jury that some testimony from Kyle Aspinwall, an employee of firearms manufacturer Glock, had been struck from the record. Sultan said it was the "most important testimony" in the monthslong trial.

Yes, this case certainly calls the NFL drug testing into question...or, at least the Patriots drug testing program. It is hard to believe that the drug testing is on the up-and-up given the frequency with which AH was smoking marijuana, etc. Or, maybe AH just found a way to cheat the system.
