Reality Show Contestant Sought in Model's Death

A contestant on a reality TV show was named a "person of interest" by police Tuesday in the case of a 28-year-old swimsuit model whose dead body was discovered stuffed into a suitcase and dumped into a Buena Park trash bin over the weekend.

Buena Park police say they want to talk to a Canadian national who was last seen with Jasmine Fiore last week at her Fairfax district home on Edinburgh Avenue. The man, Ryan Alexander Jenkins, a 32-year-old real estate developer from Calgary, reported Fiore missing Saturday.

Jenkins had been dating Fiore at the time of her death, according to the dead woman's mother. Fiore's body was discovered Saturday in a suitcase by a man who was searching a metal trash bin for recyclables in the 7400 block of Franklin Street. Police said it appeared that Fiore had been strangled.

BUENA PARK, Calif. – Ryan Alexander Jenkins, who is wanted for questioning in the death of his former wife, exuded so much confidence on the reality TV show "Megan Wants a Millionaire" that other contestants took to calling him "Smooth Operator."

After taping for the VH1 series finished, Jenkins met Jasmine Fiore in Las Vegas casino in March and the two soon got married, said Fiore's mother, Lisa Lepore.

But in May, "they had a big blowout," Lepore said. "She had the marriage annulled."

Police said Wednesday that they want to question Jenkins, 32, as a "person of interest" in the death of his 28-year-old ex-wife, a former model. Police also said Jenkins might be headed to his native Canada.

Fiore's nude body was found over the weekend stuffed into a suitcase in a Buena Park trash bin.

"At this point, he's merely a person of interest, simply because of the suspiciousness of his disappearance. We can't find him," Buena Park Lt. Gary Worral said.

At least one actor who appeared on "Millionaire" with Jenkins at a mansion in the Hollywood Hills was shocked by the latest developments and remembered a suave bachelor who grew in confidence as taping progressed.

Jenkins earned the nickname "Smooth Operator" because of "his cheeky cockiness. And I mean that in a friendly way," said Rob Locke, who played the host, a butler named Niles.

"We were all under the impression that he was single. Then I saw on Facebook that he got married and there were photos of him and his wife. My personal observation was, 'Wow, that was quick,'" Locke said, adding that taping ended in March.

Fiore's mother said her daughter and Jenkins had been fighting after a quickie Las Vegas wedding, and that he was jealous of her ex-boyfriends.

Court records show that Jenkins was charged in June in Clark County, Nev., with a misdemeanor count of "battery constituting domestic violence" for hitting Fiore in the arm and will be tried in December.

Jenkins also has a criminal history in his hometown of Calgary, Canada. He was sentenced to 15 months of probation in January 2007 on an unspecified assault charge, according to the Alberta, Canada Ministry of Justice. No further details were available.

Neal Tomlinson, a partner at the law firm representing Jenkins in the Nevada case, declined to comment and declined to say if his firm was representing Jenkins in the current matter.

Fiore was last seen alive with Jenkins at a poker game in San Diego. Jenkins reported her missing Saturday night to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, police said.

It's still not clear how Fiore died, although a preliminary coroner's report indicated she was strangled.

Jenkins, variously described as an architect, real estate developer and investment banker from Calgary, appeared in three episodes of the series "Megan Wants a Millionaire," about a woman seeking to land a wealthy bachelor by putting suitors through their paces, such as designing a marketing campaign for her pet Chihuahua.

On the show, Jenkins was identified as an investment banker who had a couple million dollars.

A resume posted on the professional networking site LinkedIn.com says Jenkins graduated from Mount Royal College in Calgary in 1999, has a license to fly commercial airplanes and worked in investment sales and as president of a boutique development company focused on cutting-edge green technologies.

Fiore and Jenkins got married in Las Vegas on March 18, according to a Clark County marriage certificate.

It was a spontaneous marriage and by May, Fiore had the marriage annulled because "she didn't trust him because he was doing (things) behind her back," Lepore said. She declined to say what the incident involved.

Jenkins then went to Mexico to do another reality TV show, but struggled to get Fiore back when he returned. It was not immediately clear which show he appeared on.

"He convinced her during that month that he was really the guy for her," Lepore said. "He wrote poems and stories, and prayed, and (claimed he) had this huge spiritual awakening."

VH1 said in a statement Wednesday that it has postponed any future airings of the show. The statement also said that the show was an outside production licensed to VH1, but that it was produced and owned by 51 Minds Entertainment.

A reality TV contestant being sought for questioning in the grisly murder of his swimsuit model ex-wife was accused of beating her before, court records revealed Wednesday.

Ryan Alexander Jenkins was charged in June with battery on Jasmine Fiore, who was found dead in a Dumpster on Saturday near Los Angeles.

Jenkins was charged with domestic abuse after he allegedly hit Fiore in the arm, Nevada court records say. He is awaiting a nonjury trial in December on the charges.

A contestant on the VH1 reality show "Megan Wants a Millionaire," Jenkins married the slain stunner in a quickie Las Vegas wedding in March, records show.

Fiore's mother pleaded for cops to track down Jenkins, who has been on the run since reporting Fiore missing over the weekend.

"I want to find this guy," said Lisa Lepore, Fiore's mom.

The heartbroken mom blasted Jenkins as a controlling type who was "insanely jealous."

"I never had good vibe with him," Lepore said. "They didn't get along. He's really cheap and just weird."

The mom said Fiore had the marriage annulled in May.

Jenkins, who previously served 15 months' probation for a 2007 assault on a woman in Canada, took off after reporting Fiore missing on Saturday - the same day she was found dead.

"He was the last person seen in the company ofour victim, in San Diego, at some sort of poker party," said Lt. Gary Worrall of the Buena Park, Calif., police, who described Jenkins as a "person of interest."

"We're characterizing the fact that we're not able to find him as suspicious," Worrall said.

Fiore, 26, was strangled and her nude body wasfound stuffed inside a suitcase by a bum looking for recyclables, cops said. She was identified on Tuesday.

Jenkins, a 32-year-old Canadian, is believed to have slapped the license plate from his BMW on Fiore's 2007 white Mercedes-Benz before heading north for the border.

TMZ.com reported that Jenkins flipped out after intercepting a text message to Fiore from her former flame.

"Suck it," Jenkins reportedly replied, using Fiore's phone, according to TMZ.com.

Fiore grew up a "wild child" in Santa Cruz, Calif., where she was raised by a hippie mom who insisted on being called "Spirit" and who lived - for a time - in the woods, a former work associate said.

"It's so sad because I knew this girl growing up," another family friend, Elizabeth Ngo, said. "She was so genuine. Everyone fell in love with her."

Fiore, who boasted 34DD-26-34 measurements and once appeared in an ad for Howard Stern's radio show, had recently changed her last name to Kinkade and moved to L.A. to launch a career as a personal trainer.

"She would walk into a room, and everybody would turn their head," Ngo said. "She remained good friends with all her ex-boyfriends, and they're all here in Los Angeles now, infuriated."

Jenkins' profile on VH1's site describes him as an investment banker from Calgary. He crassly claims that "he has left many amazing women in his life primarily because he wanted more women."

A Calgary real-estate agent and reality-TV contestant is being sought by police in southern California in connection with the death of former swimsuit model Jasmine Fiore, whom he married earlier this year in Las Vegas.

Ms. Fiore was last seen alive on Aug. 13 at a party in San Diego, which she attended with Ryan Alexander Jenkins, 32, her former husband. Nevada records show the pair married in March. The woman's mother, Lisa Lepore, said the marriage was annulled in May, although they later got back together.

Around 7 a.m. the next day, a body was found in a “very large suitcase” inside a dumpster in Buena Park, Calif., a Los Angeles suburb about 150 kilometres from the scene of the party, Buena Park police lieutenant Gary Worrall said. The suitcase was found by a man rummaging for recyclables. Preliminary indications are that the victim was strangled.

Later that afternoon, Mr. Jenkins walked into a Los Angeles County Sheriff's office in West Hollywood and reported Ms. Fiore missing.

“He came to the station and provided a picture, gave a report,” Lt. Worrall said. Officers called around, eventually connecting the body in the dumpster with the missing woman. “At that point, we were able to put the two together that their missing was our deceased person.”

But Mr. Jenkins had left the sheriff's office by then. Police haven't been able to track him down, and yesterday said the Canadian was a “person of interest” in the model's death.

“At this point, there's nothing we can point to that would make him a suspect in the crime, but he was the last person seen with her while she was alive, he reported her missing subsequent to her death, and we've been unable to contact him, which is suspicious to us,” Lt. Worrall said. “We, of course, are concerned that he might go to Canada.”

TMZ.com quoted Mr. Jenkins' publicist saying he is “currently speaking to his attorney and will fully co-operate with the police in this matter. He is planning on meeting with them in the near future.”

Buena Park police said Mr. Jenkins may have been driving Ms. Fiore's car, possibly with his Alberta license plates. RCMP in Calgary have been alerted, but won't arrest anyone until a warrant is issued. With no warrant, Mr. Jenkins was last night free to cross into Canada, RCMP Sergeant Patrick Webb said.

“It all depends on whether the steps have been done yet about if there's a warrant on his arrest,” Sgt. Webb said.

Gossip and celebrity websites were buzzing Wednesday with the news that Mr. Jenkins – a contestant on Megan Wants a Millionaire , in which a woman vies for the affections of purportedly wealthy men to become a “trophy wife,” and reportedly on I Love Money 3 – was being sought in connection with the death of Ms. Fiore, a former Playboy employee. TMZ reported that Ms. Fiore sent a crude text message to a former boyfriend the night of her death, and that Mr. Jenkins had won I Love Money and earned $250,000, although the series hasn't aired.

In his profile for the show, Mr. Jenkins took the nickname “Smooth Operator,” listed his worth at $2.5-million, and said he turned “player girls” into “princesses” and cheated on a woman only when he wanted to break up with her. VH1 yesterday scrapped the remaining episodes of Megan, “given the unfortunate circumstances,” a statement said.

In Calgary, Mr. Jenkins' cell phone has been disconnected. Websites for two of the companies he said he was involved in – Concrete Equities and Townscape Developments – are offline. The listed number for a third is a real estate firm, where a woman said Mr. Jenkins left in April.

He'd been profiled in a local newspaper when he got into the real estate business, following in the footsteps of his father, Dan Jenkins, a Calgary architect.

“Ryan is Dan's son, but he has nothing to do with any of Dan's companies. And he did not work for us,” a woman answering the phone at the father's firm said yesterday. “He's got absolutely nothing to do with our company.”

She said the elder Mr. Jenkins was out of the country.

Ms. Lepore told the Associated Press that Mr. Jenkins had his eye on making it big in Hollywood when he met her daughter, a former model who the news service reported did an ad for Howard Stern's radio show.

“He had stars in his eyes,” she said. “He was totally jazzed, like, being a star.”

(CNN) -- A reality TV contestant is wanted for questioning in connection with the death of his ex-wife, a former swimsuit model whose nude body was found stuffed into a suitcase.

According to police, 28-year-old Jasmine Fiore, who lived in Los Angeles, California, was last seen alive Friday in San Diego at a poker game with Ryan Alexander Jenkins.

''We believe that perhaps he might have information that would be beneficial to the investigation,'' Lt. Gary Worrall of the Buena Park Police Department said Wednesday on HLN's Nancy Grace.

Authorities said Jenkins reported Fiore missing Saturday night to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Earlier that same day, a body was found in a large suitcase inside a trash bin behind an apartment complex in Buena Park, just outside Anaheim in Orange County.

On Monday, the body was identified as Fiore. While the cause of death has not been confirmed, a preliminary coroner's report indicates she was strangled.

Jenkins, who appeared in two VH1 reality TV shows, "Megan Wants a Millionaire" and "I Love Money 3," may have headed back to his native Calgary, Alberta, police say.

He and Fiore reportedly had been married a few weeks before getting the union annulled.

"Given the fact that he has some celebrity status, we're quite certain that he has been made aware of the media frenzy regarding this case,'' Worrall said.

''And we have made some attempts to get in touch with him.''

In a statement, VH1 said it has postponed any future airings of "Megan Wants a Millionaire" because of the ''tragic situation'' and said ''our thoughts go out to the victim's family.''

Davida Sullivan, who trained with Fiore in Las Vegas to be a Playboy Bunny, called her a bit reserved, careful with her words and a ''very, very sweet girl.''

I've been watching this story on Nancy Grace. This psycho was a contestant on Megan Wants a Millionaire. There is definitely something about his demeanor, and his eyes that give off creepy vibes. It's really a tragedy that Jasmine married this nut after knowing him only a few days. "Reality Shows" are obviously not what they seem after all.

Warrant issued for Canadian charged in ex-wife's murder in L.A.
A reality-TV contestant from Canada has been charged with murder in the slaying of his ex-wife, a bikini model whose mutilated body was discovered stuffed into a suitcase and tossed in a Dumpster in California.

An international manhunt was intensifying for Ryan Alexander Jenkins, 32, on Thursday night as U.S. authorities revealed they believe he may have fled to Canada and that he may be armed with a handgun.

"He’s considered dangerous and possibly armed, and he has the resources to hide anywhere in the world, because we understand he’s from a very wealthy family," said Susan Kang Schroeder, a spokeswoman for the Orange County District Attorney’s Office.

Jenkins is the son of prominent Calgary architect Dan Jenkins.

The RCMP said Thursday they were taking the lead on the investigation, which is apparently focusing on B.C.

Authorities on both sides of the border were working to track down the former real-estate developer who was the last person to see 28-year-old Jasmine Fiore alive before her body was recovered Saturday morning from a bloody grey suitcase in a garbage bin in Buena Park, Calif. — about 30 kilometres southeast of Los Angeles.

The couple were seen on Aug. 13 checking into the L’Auberge Del Mar hotel in San Diego. Jenkins allegedly left the hotel the following morning, but Fiore was not seen again.

Officials revealed Thursday the body of Fiore had been mutilated.

“The victim had been badly beaten, all of her fingers had been cut off, and all of her teeth had been forcibly removed,” said a news release from Orange County’s district attorney.

When Buena Park police Lt. Steve Holliday outlined at a news conference what had been done to Fiore’s body, her friends and family behind him at a news conference broke down in tears.

Law-enforcement officials told reporters Thursday night they would not stop looking until Jenkins is in custody.

“There will be no stone unturned and we will look under every rock for him. He needs to understand he is now officially wanted,” said Tom Hession, chief inspector for the U.S. Marshals, who is the commander of a fugitive task force.

Jenkins and Fiore met in Las Vegas in March and were married in March. That marriage was later annulled, Fiore’s mother, Lisa Lepore, has been quoted as saying.

Recently, Jenkins had been appearing on a reality-TV show called Megan Wants a Millionaire, in which he was competing against other men for the affections of the show’s star, Megan Hauserman. The VH1 channel has stopped airing the show program in the wake of the killing.

An emotional friend of the victim addressed friends and family of the wanted man at the news conference in California on Thursday night, asking them not to help him evade the authorities in any way.

"Ryan Jenkins is an animal,” Robert Hasman told reporters.

“What he has done to Jasmine is unspeakable,” said Hasman, who said he was a former boyfriend of the victim.

“Please understand who you are helping to leave this country,” he said.

Police said it’s believed Jenkins has a handgun, and warned anyone who may be helping him —as well as any authorities who may try to arrest him —to be careful.

A warrant was issued for Jenkins’ arrest Thursday, as documents filed in Orange County showed Jenkins is facing a charger for murder “with malice aforethought.” The criminal complaint calls for bail to be set at $10 million.

Meanwhile, authorities appeared to have traced some of Jenkins’ steps.

A boat owned by Jenkins has been found in a small community in Washington state.

A spokesman for the local sheriff’s office said Thursday the boat Jenkins is believed to have left in after abandoning his black SUV and an empty boat trailer at a boat launch in Blaine, Wash., was found overnight in Point Roberts, Wash.

Point Roberts is a peninsula community whose only land access is through B.C.’s community of Delta. From there, Jenkins could have walked across the border into Canada.

A witness reported seeing the boat being driven into the marina and a man acting suspiciously, the spokesman said. U.S. authorities believe Jenkins fled into Canada.

Jenkins’ mother, Nada Jenkins, lives in Vancouver, and he Jenkins would be familiar with both the community of Point Roberts and the ease of crossing the border, having lived there with his father, stepmother and sister.

In a resume posted online, Jenkins lists his interests as investment opportunities, new technology, golf, wakeboarding and snowboarding.

He also says he is a previously licensed commercial pilot and flight instructor, who provided training out of Calgary International Airport.

He says he attended Mount Royal College in Calgary and studied aviation, business, economics and meteorology from 1996 to 1999.

U.S. authorities said paperwork was underway to get Canadian police a warrant for Jenkins.

“The RCMP Federal Border Integrity Program in B.C. has now taken the lead on the Ryan Jenkins investigation,” the Mounties said in a news release Thursday night.

“The current whereabouts of Mr. Jenkins remains unknown.”

Calgarian Ryan Jenkins has been charged with murder and the bail recommendation is $10-million.

The 32-year-old is charged in connection to the death of his wife who was found strangled, stuffed in a suitcase and thrown in a trash bin in Buena Park, California.

Police now believe Jenkins is back in Canada.

On Thursday morning, Jenkins' vehicle was found along with a boat trailer. The

sheriff's office in Bellingham, Washington believes the 32-year-old walked across the border into British Columbia.

On Saturday, the body of 28-year-old Jasmine Fiore was discovered in a suitcase in a dumpster. Police now say her fingers were cut off and teeth were missing.

Jenkins phoned police and reported Fiore missing on Saturday night after her body had been found

Police in Buena Park say Jenkins was last seen with Fiore on Friday night in San Diego, where the pair may have been attending a poker tournament.

"It's suspicious that he's not returning our calls and not making himself available to us when we want to speak to him about this, as he was the last person to be in her company," says Lt. Gary Worrall.

CTV News has learned that in Calgary in 2007 Jenkins pleaded guilty to assaulting Fearn Jewell. He was given a conditional discharge, 15-months probation, 80 hours of community service and ordered to seek counseling for domestic violence and sex addiction.

He was also charged in Nevada for battery constituting domestic violence for allegedly beating Fiore. A trial is set for December 18.

Kevin Brookwell of the Calgary Police Service tells CTV they aren't expecting Jenkins to come back to the city.

"The current information we are working on is that he would likely not come to Calgary and he has probably gone underground."

Jenkins recently moved to Los Angeles to appear as a contestant on the VH-1 reality show, "Megan Wants a Millionaire."

The show's star, Megan Hauserman, told TMZ that Jenkins and Fiore were married.

In a telephone interview posted on the TMZ website, Hauserman says Jenkins travelled to Las Vegas after being eliminated from the show, met Fiore, and married her two days later.

Jenkins is listed as the CEO and a real estate associate on a website for a company called Sky Homes Calgary. An online resume also says he is an investment sales associate at Concrete Equities.

Police in California warn that a former Calgarian, wanted for his ex-wife's murder and believed to be on the run in Canada, may be armed with a handgun.

Ryan Jenkins, 32, faces one count of murder in the death of Jasmine Fiore, prosecutors in Orange County confirmed on Thursday afternoon. They're recommending bail of $10 million US once Jenkins is apprehended, according to court documents.

Law enforcement officials had initially wanted to question him as a "person of interest" after Fiore's body was discovered on the weekend, but an arrest warrant was issued for Jenkins on Thursday.

Jenkins, a former realtor and investment banker, is believed to be in Canada after his black BMW X5 SUV and empty boat trailer were found at a marina in Blaine, Wash. on Wednesday.

Sgt. Kevin Mede of the Whatcom County sheriff's office said they then received a report that a man matching Jenkins's description and "acting suspiciously" arrived by boat at Point Roberts, a rural community near the Canadian border just south of Vancouver.

Police believe Jenkins walked from there across the border to British Columbia.

Point Roberts is a peninsula that extends south of the Canada-U.S. border, but is not connected by land with the rest of the U.S. It shares a relatively unguarded and forested border with the B.C. community of Tsawwassen.

A manhunt using border protection helicopters and U.S. marshals failed to turn up Jenkins, Mede said. Police ground, air and canine units in Delta, B.C. also helped in the search.
'No stone unturned'

"There will be no stone unturned and we will look under every rock for him," said Chief Insp. Thomas J. Hession of the U.S. Marshals office regional fugitive team.

Hession warned that anyone helping Jenkins could be charged with aiding and abetting, and harbouring a fugitive.

"I would suggest to anyone out there looking to assist this individual that they don't because they would be subject to being charged also."

Investigators believe Jenkins is armed with a handgun and warned the public to be careful if encountering him.
Message to suspect's family

Robert Hasman, Fiore's ex-boyfriend, sent a public message to Jenkins's family and to "the friends that are helping him try to leave this country."

"Ryan Jenkins is an animal. What he has done to Jasmine is unspeakable. And it's just not right and I appreciate your help," Hasman said at a news conference, as Fiore's mother stood by.

"Please understand who you're helping leave this country and we ask for your support to bring Ryan to custody."

Jenkins's father, Dan, is a real estate developer in Calgary and there are reports that Jenkins's mother lives in Vancouver. Police would only say that any involvement from Jenkins's friends or family is considered part of their investigation.
Body was mutilated

Buena Park police detectives released new information about Fiore's death at that same news conference.

Lieut. Steve Holliday confirmed that Fiore's fingers and teeth had been removed. The public revelation brought sobs from Fiore's mother.

"We had to tell the family today a lot of the information also without it getting into the press and public [first]," Holliday said.

Fiore, 28, was found naked and stuffed into a suitcase in a Buena Park trash bin by a man looking for recyclable materials on Saturday. Police believe she was strangled.

"Jasmine was a beautiful person. She was a very caring individual," Hasman said. "A lot of the information you're seeing on the news is not true." However, he did not elaborate on what he meant.

The former model was last seen with Jenkins at a poker game in San Diego on Friday night. Jenkins reported Fiore missing to the police on Saturday evening.

Jenkins had moved to L.A. from Calgary to be a contestant on the VH1 reality TV show Megan Wants a Millionaire. Fiore, a commercial and swimsuit model, had recently relocated to L.A. from Las Vegas.

Fiore's mother said the two were married two days after meeting in Las Vegas in March, but the marriage was annulled two months later. They reconciled, but Jenkins was charged in April with domestic battery of Fiore in Nevada. That case had not gone to trial.

In 2005, Jenkins pleaded guilty in Calgary to common assault of a former girlfriend.

LOS ANGELES, California (CNN) -- An arrest warrant for murder has been issued for the ex-husband of a former swimsuit model whose nude body was found over the weekend, Orange County police said Thursday.

The body of Jasmine Fiore, 28, was found Saturday stuffed into a suitcase inside a Dumpster behind an apartment complex in Buena Park, just outside Anaheim in Orange County. Her teeth had been extracted and her fingers removed.

Fiore lived in Los Angeles and was last seen alive Friday in San Diego at a poker game with her ex-husband, Ryan Alexander Jenkins, a reality TV contestant.

"We believe he has crossed into Canada," U.S. Marshals Chief Inspector Thomas Hession told reporters. "He needs to understand that he is now officially wanted. We won't stop looking for him."

Prosecutors requested bail be set at $10 million.

Wednesday night, officers from the Blaine Police Department in northern Washington recovered a black 2003 BMW X5 SUV outfitted with a boat trailer and a boat belonging to Jenkins in Point Roberts, just south of the Canadian border, said Buena Park, California, Chief of Police Tom Monson.

"It's now our belief that he has now crossed the border on foot," he said, adding that authorities were working with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police to find him.

Monson appealed to the public for help in locating a white 2007 Mercedes Benz CLS550 with paper license tags also linked to the suspect.

Hession cautioned anyone who might be considering helping the suspect flee that doing so would leave them open to charges of aiding and abetting a fugitive.

"Ryan Jenkins is an animal," said Robert Hasman, a family friend who said Fiore had been his girlfriend for 2 1/2 years.

"What he has done to Jasmine is unspeakable. It's just not right." He described her as "a beautiful person who was a very caring individual and a lot of the information that you are seeing in the news is not true."

He would not specify to what he was referring.

Buena Park Police Lt. Steve Holliday said Fiore's fingers and teeth had been removed. Asked whether that was done to keep her body from being identified, he said, "It can be inferred that way."

"It appears to be a gruesome attempt to conceal her identity," concurred Orange County District Attorney Tony Rackauckas in an interview with CNN's "Larry King Live." Jenkins is the sole suspect in the killing, authorities said. "There is no indication that anybody else might be involved," he said.

Jenkins is believed to be armed, Rackauckas said. "There's a handgun missing from his apartment, which is the last place he was before he fled," he said.

Jenkins matched the description of a man seen driving a boat Wednesday in Blaine Marina off northwest Washington, the Whatcom County Sheriff's Office said.

Blaine, Washington, borders Canada.

Authorities searched the area and found Jenkins' black SUV with an empty boat trailer at the Blaine Marina, police said.

Jenkins reported Fiore missing Saturday night to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, authorities said.

The body was identified as Fiore on Monday. While the cause of death has not been confirmed, a preliminary coroner's report indicates she was strangled.

Jenkins and Fiore reportedly had been married a few weeks before getting the union annulled.

According to court records in Las Vegas, Nevada, Jenkins was charged in June with battery for allegedly striking Fiore in the arm with his fist. And in 2007, Jenkins pleaded guilty in Calgary, Alberta, to assault in a separate case. He was sentenced to 15 months probation, ordered to undergo counseling for domestic violence and sex addiction and to stay away from the person involved, according to court records.

Jenkins, who appeared on VH1 shows, "Megan Wants a Millionaire" and "I Love Money 3," is from Calgary.

51 Minds, the production company of "Megan Wants a Millionaire," said Thursday in a written statement that it "was not aware of Ryan Jenkins' record when it cast him.

"The company did have in place what it thought was a thorough vetting process that involved complete background checks by an outside company for all contestants on its shows," it said. "Clearly, the process did not work properly in this case. 51 Minds is investigating what went wrong and taking steps to ensure that this sort of lapse never occurs again."

In a statement, VH1 said it has postponed any airings of "Megan Wants a Millionaire" because of the "tragic situation."

A reality TV show contestant allegedly removed the fingers and teeth of the swimsuit model he killed before putting her in a suitcase and dumping her in a Buena Park trash bin, authorities said Thursday as they issued an arrest warrant for the suspect.

Police believe that Ryan Alexander Jenkins, who was a contestant on two VH1 reality shows, fled to Washington state and crossed the border into Canada on Wednesday or early Thursday. An international manhunt is underway for him.

Relationship

The Orange County district attorney's office said 28-year-old Jasmine Fiore was last seen alive Aug. 13, when she and Jenkins went to an upscale Del Mar hotel together. Fiore and Jenkins had married earlier, then had the marriage annulled but were still dating.

Jenkins checked out of the hotel the next morning, apparently alone, according to prosecutors.

At some point, authorities say, Jenkins allegedly killed Fiore, placed her in the suitcase and left her in a trash bin off the 5 Freeway in Buena Park. On Saturday morning, a man looking for recyclables found the suitcase and called police.

"The officers found a large bloodstained gray suitcase containing the body of a Caucasian female. The victim had been badly beaten, all of her fingers had been cut off, and all of her teeth had been forcibly removed," prosecutors said in a statement released Thursday.

On Saturday night, Jenkins reported Fiore missing to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, prosecutors said, adding that he then fled Southern California. His whereabouts over the last few days were unknown, but on Wednesday he apparently surfaced in Washington state.

"The defendant's black BMW X5 was found with a boat trailer attached in a marina in Blaine, Wash.," the Orange County district attorney's office said. "The defendant is accused of using a speedboat to flee from the U.S. to Canada."

Duncan Pound, a spokesman for the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, said his agency has not yet confirmed that Jenkins was in Canada and that law enforcement agencies in British Columbia and elsewhere have been put on alert.

Jenkins was a contestant on the VH1 reality show "Megan Wants a Millionaire," in which wealthy men compete for the love of a young woman. He was billed on the show as an investment banker. He was also scheduled to appear on a second VH1 show, the third season of "I Love Money," according to a source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to the media.

Jenkins was cast on both shows even though he pleaded guilty in 2006 to assaulting his then-girlfriend. A Canadian judge ordered him to complete "domestic violence" and "sex addiction" counseling, and he was also sentenced to 15 months' probation and 80 hours of community service, according to court documents.

A spokesman for VH1 said the network did not know about "any issues regarding any of the contestants on this show" and that it was standard practice in the industry for the outside company that produced the show to be "responsible for the screening/vetting process of contestants." VH1 licensed the show, which completed production in March, from the Los Angeles-based 51 Minds Entertainment.

According to a statement released by a spokesman for 51 Minds, the company was not aware of Jenkins' record when they cast him on "Megan Wants A Millionaire".

"Obviously, if the company had been given a full picture of his background, he would never have been allowed on the show," according to a statement provided by Allan Mayer of the public relations firm 42West.

Jenkins and Fiore married in March, soon after he completed "Megan Wants a Millionaire."

Allegations

In April, Jenkins allegedly struck Fiore on the arm at a hotel in Las Vegas. In June, he was charged in connection with the incident with "battery constituting domestic violence."

At a news conference at Buena Park City Hall, a Fiore family spokesman urged people not to help Jenkins.

Jenkins "is an animal. What he has done to Jasmine is unspeakable," said Robert Hasman, who identified himself as her former boyfriend. "It's just not right."

The charge against Ryan Alexander Jenkins, 32, came as police revealed grisly new details of Jasmine Fiore's death, and as a person who was with Fiore, 28, told ABC News about the couple's "blow-out fight in front of everyone" in San Diego last Thursday into Friday -- the final night she was seen alive.

"Jasmine was playing poker with a big group of friends at the Hilton Hotel," the source said. "She was being very rude and kept putting Ryan down. It was really awkward. She has a cutting sense of humor. He was getting really angry, and it totally set the tone for the rest of the evening."

The group later moved to the Ivy Hotel for drinks.

"She spent an enormous amount of time in the bathroom on the phone," the source said. "Ryan started asking who she was on the phone with, and she said her mom. It was 12:30 at night, and she was not on the phone with her mom.

"He kept screaming, 'Who were you talking to?'" the source added. "At about 1:30, they went up to their room to continue fighting."

Police said Fiore was strangled and placed in a suitcase that was found Saturday morning in Buena Park, Calif. They added Thursday that her teeth and fingers were removed from her naked body, possibly in an attempt to impede her identification.

Jenkins, a finalist on the pre-taped VH1 reality competition "Megan Wants a Millionaire," called police to report her missing the day the suitcase was found. He has not been seen by authorities since.

Authorities formally named Jenkins a suspect in Fiore's death and issued a warrant for his arrest today -- as the Orange County, Calif., district attorney's office said he had been charged with the felony count of murder.

Investigators believe Jenkins drove more than 1,000 miles from Southern California, quietly slipping into Canada days after he was named a person of interest in the death of Fiore.

Sheriff's officers in Whatcom County, Wash., found Jenkins' car with an empty boat trailer attached. A man matching Jenkins' description was spotted at the tip of Point Roberts, a peninsula in Washington state accessible from the United States by boat and overland from Canada, according to ABC News affiliate KOMO in Seattle.

Authorities believe Jenkins then walked across the border to the Canadian province of British Columbia.

Canadian Constable Sharlene Brooks told The Associated Press that ground, air and canine units were involved in the search for Jenkins.

(AP) BUENA PARK, Calif. - A reality TV contestant was charged with murder Thursday in the death of his ex-wife as the manhunt for the suspect spread to Canada and police provided gruesome new details about the killing.

Police said Ryan Alexander Jenkins removed the teeth and fingers of Jasmine Fiore, presumably to impede authorities in their efforts to identify the naked body after it was found stuffed in a suitcase in a California trash bin over the weekend.

The former swimsuit model and Jenkins were briefly married after a quickie Las Vegas wedding this year, and had been fighting in recent months. Prosecutors said the two checked into a San Diego hotel Aug. 13, and Jenkins checked out the next morning. Fiore was not seen alive again.

He reported her missing Saturday night and then vanished after the body was found. Authorities suspect he drove 1,000 miles to Washington state and then hopped in a boat to a peninsula on the border, where he walked into Canadian territory. Canadian police said ground, air and canine units are involved in the search.

"At this time, although we believe he crossed the border, we’re not one hundred percent sure of that," U.S. Marshal Chief Inspector Thomas Hession said. A car and empty boat trailer belonging to the 32-year-old Calgary, Alberta native were found at a marina in the remote northwest Washington town of Blaine.

Whatcom County Sheriff’s deputies received a report Wednesday that a man matching Jenkins’ description arrived by boat at Point Roberts, Wash., about 10 miles from Blaine at the tip of a peninsula. The point is reachable by land only from Canada, and Jenkins is believed to have walked across the border from there.

Canadian Public Safety Minister Peter Van Loan said police agencies across Canada are on the lookout for Jenkins.

Jenkins was a contestant on the VH1 reality TV show "Megan Wants a Millionaire."

After taping for the VH1 series finished in early March, Jenkins met 28-year-old Fiore in Las Vegas casino and the two got married on March 18, said Fiore’s mother, Lisa Lepore.

But in May, the two were fighting because he was jealous of her ex-boyfriends, Lepore said. "She had the marriage annulled."

Fiore’s ex-boyfriend, Robert Hasman, urged Jenkins’ friends and family to help police find him.

"Ryan Jenkins is an animal, what he has done to Jasmine is unspeakable and it’s just not right and I’d appreciate your help," Hasman said at a news conference.

The federal government was issuing a federal warrant which Canadian authorities can use to detain him on the murder charges, Buena Park Police Capt. Ken Coovert said.

If Jenkins is apprehended north of the border, authorities there could extradict him but only with assurances that he would not face the death penalty. Farrah Emami, a spokeswoman with the Orange County district attorney’s office, said the death penalty issue hasn’t been addressed yet.

Prosecutors recommended a bail of $10 million.

"Mr. Jenkins is considered dangerous, possibly armed, and has the financial means to hide anywhere in the world," said Orange County District Attorney Tony Rackauckas. "Anyone helping Mr. Jenkins hide from the police may go to prison themselves."

Court records show that Jenkins was charged in June in Clark County, Nev., with a misdemeanor count of "battery constituting domestic violence" for allegedly hitting Fiore in the arm and will be tried in December.

Jenkins also has a criminal history in his hometown of Calgary, Canada. He was sentenced to 15 months of probation in January 2007 on an unspecified assault charge, according to the Alberta, Canada Ministry of Justice. No further details were available.

Neal Tomlinson, a partner at the law firm representing Jenkins in the Nevada case, did not return an e-mail seeking comment sent after business hours Thursday. He declined to comment earlier in the week.

A preliminary coroner’s report indicated Fiore was strangled.

At least one actor who appeared on "Millionaire" with Jenkins at a mansion in the Hollywood Hills was shocked by the latest developments and remembered a suave bachelor who grew in confidence as taping progressed.

Jenkins earned the nickname "Smooth Operator" because of "his cheeky cockiness. And I mean that in a friendly way," said Rob Locke, who played the host, a butler named Niles.

"We were all under the impression that he was single. Then I saw on Facebook that he got married and there were photos of him and his wife. My personal observation was, ’Wow, that was quick,’" Locke said, adding that taping ended in March.

Jenkins, variously described as an architect, real estate developer and investment banker from Calgary, appeared in at least three episodes of the series "Megan Wants a Millionaire," about a woman seeking to land a wealthy bachelor by putting suitors through their paces, such as designing a marketing campaign for her pet Chihuahua.

On the show, Jenkins was identified as an investment banker who had a couple million dollars.

A resume posted on the professional networking site LinkedIn.com says Jenkins graduated from Mount Royal College in Calgary in 1999, has a license to fly commercial airplanes and worked in investment sales and as president of a boutique development company focused on cutting-edge green technologies.

VH1 said it has postponed any future airings of the show. The statement also said that the show was an outside production licensed to VH1, but that it was produced and owned by 51 Minds Entertainment.

51 Minds said in a statement that Jenkins never would have been accepted for its show if the company had known of his past criminal history.

California prosecutors have charged a reality TV contestant with the murder of his ex-wife, who was found mutilated and stuffed naked into a suitcase, and Canadian authorities are searching for him after signs he may have illegally slipped north across the border.

One count of murder with malice aforethought was filed against Ryan Jenkins Thursday in the death of former model Jasmine Fiore, 28.

Police in Buena Park, Calif., revealed Ms. Fiore's teeth and fingers were removed before her body was found in a trash bin in California last weekend.

They had previously called the 32-year-old Mr. Jenkins, a Calgary native who was briefly married to Ms. Fiore, a “person of interest” in the case and said they just wanted to talk to him.

Chief Inspector Thomas Hession of the local U.S. Marshall's Fugitive Task Force said at a news conference Thursday that officers would not rest until he was taken into custody.

“We will look under every rock for him,” he said.

“He needs to understand that he's now officially wanted — that we don't stop looking for him.”Ms. Fiore's family members sobbed and hugged each other as police revealed the gruesome details of her death. Her ex-boyfriend, Robert Hasman, told reporters that her killer is “an animal,” and spoke directly to anyone who would help the person evade capture.

Border officials and police agencies across Canada were on the lookout for Mr. Jenkins after U.S. officials suggested he likely fled more than 1,600 kilometres from southern California to sneak back into the country.

Federal Public Safety Minister Peter Van Loan said reports that he had crossed the border were unconfirmed, but police were watching for him.

“The Canadian Border Services Agency does work very closely with law enforcement partners both here in Canada and across the border [and] they are well aware of the particular case,” he said.

“I know that at a local level here and at a provincial level across Canada, police forces are on the lookout with the potential that he might be in this country.”

Mr. Jenkins was a contestant on the VH1 reality TV show Megan Wants a Millionaire before marrying Ms. Fiore. Her death, followed by his disappearance, has sparked a media frenzy, with gossip website TMZ publishing a saccharine love note allegedly between the couple and minute-by-minute updates of the investigation.

Buena Park Chief of Police Tom Monson said police received word Wednesday that Mr. Jenkins could have made his way to Canada. His car and an empty boat trailer were found at a marina in Blaine, just south of Vancouver.

A boat belonging to him was found at Point Roberts, U.S. territory just south of Vancouver that is at the tip of a peninsula and can only be reached by land from Canada, Chief Monson said.

“It is now our belief that he has crossed the border on foot,” he said. “We are currently working with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in our attempts to locate him.”

Police warned that Mr. Jenkins may be armed with a handgun and should be considered dangerous.

Vancouver radio station CKNW reported that his mother lives in Vancouver. Quoting a family friend, the station reported she went to meet her son in Seattle on Wednesday, saying it was a family emergency.

The station also reported that she refused to comment Thursday.

Constable Sharlene Brooks of the Delta, B.C., police – whose jurisdiction includes the Canada-U.S. border area south of Vancouver – said her department had been asked to watch for the fugitive.

“It's not confirmed that he in fact has entered Canada, but if he has done so it was not through legitimate means,” Constable Brooks said.

The border between Washington and British Columbia around Blaine is hard to monitor, especially along waterways dotted with islands, said Benjamin Muller, a border expert at King's University College in Ontario, who is very familiar with the area.

“I've talked to RCMP in the region and there's all sorts of systems they have to try and monitor the movements on the waters there, and it's exceptionally difficult,” he said.

The area is known for marijuana and gun smuggling between the two countries, he said.

Acting Calgary police Chief Al Redford said officers in Mr. Jenkins's hometown were also working with other law enforcement agencies and looking for tips. “Our fugitive apprehension detail is currently on the hunt checking connections, associates, doing backgrounding, that sort of thing,” he said.

Fiore was last seen alive with Jenkins at a poker game in San Diego. Jenkins cut off contact with police after reporting her missing Saturday night to the Los Angeles County sheriff's department. It's still not clear how she died, although a preliminary coroner's report indicated she was strangled.

Ms. Fiore's mother has said that in March, after taping for the VH1 series finished, Mr. Jenkins met Ms. Fiore in a Las Vegas casino and the two were married soon after. But Lisa Lepore said “they had a big blowout” in May and Ms. Fiore had the marriage annulled.

A friend from Calgary who has known Mr. Jenkins for about five years said last spoke with him in late spring, shortly after Mr. Jenkins met Ms. Fiore.

“He said, ‘I met this amazing girl and we have a lot in common and we're going to get married,”' said the friend, who didn't want to give his name due to the immense publicity the case has attracted.

“He said they just clicked and things were awesome.”

The friend said he was shocked to hear Mr. Jenkins could be at all connected to the case, saying he was an “energetic individual, always a lot of fun.”

“In the years that I've known him and got to spend time with him, he's never shown any aggression or anger, he's just always a positive guy.”

Court records show that Mr. Jenkins was charged in June in Clark County, Nev., with a misdemeanour count of “battery constituting domestic violence” on accusations that he hit Ms. Fiore in the arm. He is scheduled for a Dec. 18 non-jury trial.

Court documents from Calgary also show Mr. Jenkins was charged with assaulting a woman in July, 2005. He was given a conditional discharge with 15 months probation and ordered not to have contact with the woman. There were reports that she was his girlfriend at the time.

He vanished after the body was found Saturday and Buena Park police Lt. Steve Holliday said he's possibly armed with a handgun.

Jenkins is believed to have driven 1,000 miles to Washington state and then hopped in a boat to a peninsula on the border, where he walked into Canadian territory. A Canadian police official said ground, air and canine units are involved in the search for Jenkins.

"At this time, although we believe he crossed the border, we're not one hundred percent sure of that," U.S. Marshal Chief Inspector Thomas Hession. "There will be no stone unturned and we'll look under every rock for him."

A car and empty boat trailer belonging to the 32-year-old Calgary, Alberta native were found at a marina in the remote northwest Washington town of Blaine.

Whatcom County Sheriff's deputies received a report Wednesday that a man matching Jenkins' description arrived by boat at Point Roberts, Wash., about 10 miles from Blaine at the tip of a peninsula. The point is reachable by land only from Canada, and Jenkins is believed to have walked across the border from there.

Canadian Public Safety Minister Peter Van Loan said police agencies across Canada are on the lookout for Jenkins.

Constable Sharlene Brooks in the Canadian border city of Delta said ground, air and canine units are involved in the search.

Fiore's ex-boyfriend, Robert Hasman, urged Jenkins' friends and family to help police find him.

"Ryan Jenkins is an animal, what he has done to Jasmine is unspeakable and it's just not right and I'd appreciate your help," Hasman said at a news conference.

Jenkins was a contestant on the VH1 reality TV show "Megan Wants a Millionaire."

After taping for the VH1 series finished in early March, Jenkins met 28-year-old Fiore in Las Vegas casino and the two got married on March 18, said Fiore's mother, Lisa Lepore.

But in May, "they had a big blowout," and fought because he was jealous of her ex-boyfriends, Lepore said. "She had the marriage annulled."

The federal government was in the process of issuing a federal warrant Thursday afternoon, which would allow Canadian authorities to take Jenkins into custody there, Capt. Ken Coovert said.

If Jenkins is arrested in Canada, California can request that he be extradicted to the U.S.

At least one actor who appeared on "Millionaire" with Jenkins at a mansion in the Hollywood Hills was shocked by the latest developments and remembered a suave bachelor who grew in confidence as taping progressed.

Jenkins earned the nickname "Smooth Operator" because of "his cheeky cockiness. And I mean that in a friendly way," said Rob Locke, who played the host, a butler named Niles.

"We were all under the impression that he was single. Then I saw on Facebook that he got married and there were photos of him and his wife. My personal observation was, 'Wow, that was quick,'" Locke said, adding that taping ended in March.

Court records show that Jenkins was charged in June in Clark County, Nev., with a misdemeanor count of "battery constituting domestic violence" for allegedly hitting Fiore in the arm and will be tried in December.

Jenkins also has a criminal history in his hometown of Calgary, Canada. He was sentenced to 15 months of probation in January 2007 on an unspecified assault charge, according to the Alberta, Canada Ministry of Justice. No further details were available.

Neal Tomlinson, a partner at the law firm representing Jenkins in the Nevada case, declined to comment and declined to say if his firm was representing Jenkins in the current matter.

Fiore was last seen alive with Jenkins at a poker game in San Diego. Jenkins reported her missing Saturday night to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, police said.

A preliminary coroner's report indicated Fiore was strangled.

Jenkins, variously described as an architect, real estate developer and investment banker from Calgary, appeared in at least three episodes of the series "Megan Wants a Millionaire," about a woman seeking to land a wealthy bachelor by putting suitors through their paces, such as designing a marketing campaign for her pet Chihuahua.

On the show, Jenkins was identified as an investment banker who had a couple million dollars.

A resume posted on the professional networking site LinkedIn.com says Jenkins graduated from Mount Royal College in Calgary in 1999, has a license to fly commercial airplanes and worked in investment sales and as president of a boutique development company focused on cutting-edge green technologies.

By May, Fiore "didn't trust him because he was doing (things) behind her back," Lepore said. She declined to say what the incident involved.

Jenkins then went to Mexico to do another reality TV show, but struggled to get Fiore back when he returned. It was not immediately clear which show he appeared on.

"He convinced her during that month that he was really the guy for her," Lepore said. "He wrote poems and stories, and prayed, and (claimed he) had this huge spiritual awakening."

VH1 said it has postponed any future airings of the show. The statement also said that the show was an outside production licensed to VH1, but that it was produced and owned by 51 Minds Entertainment.

This case is just so damned gross, that I can not even stand to post any more. I have found so many articles on it & so horribly gruesome, that I actually feel sick. I would not be surprised if Megan gets a lawyer & sues the hell out of VH1 for putting her in so much danger!
