Girl Sees Justice After Lifetime of Abuse

The home video ends with 12-year-old Ashley and her father sitting on his bed watching television.

He's wearing plaid boxer shorts, eating a bowl of ice cream. She's in her underwear, smoking a cigarette and staring blankly at the TV. Their dog, Sadie, lies between them.

Abused girl, 12, confronts accused father in court

The evidence left no doubt that Bobby Gene Palmer was guilty.

Videotapes seized from his home clearly identify the 40-year-old Milwaukie father raping his 12-year-old daughter. Jailhouse recordings document him working through his family to pressure the girl and possibly influence her testimony.

Still, Palmer wouldn't admit to his crimes.

Wow, that's terrible!!

This scumbag deserves a minumum of life without parole. Sadly, even the death penalty isn't punishment enough for what he has done to his own child. I doubt if she will "get to be a kid again" as she wrote in her letter to the court, because he stole this girl's childhood from her, and her memories will not allow her to "erase" what he did to her. No amount of counseling is going to give this poor child back her innocence.

This is truly disgusting. I fear that if he ever gets out he will come after his daughter, so I hope he gets a very long sentence. I can't imagine having to sit on a jury and watch that video, but I would be glad that I had the power to help convict him and give him a long sentence.

What a sick SOB...Chemical castration and LWOP is not punishment enough...Fortunately enough the true justice will come at his 'natural death'...when he is judged by the greatest judge of all...

Ashley sat in a folding chair in the corner. She could see Kmetic but not her father.

She wept as her words were read.

"I love my dad to death, and he needs to say, 'Yes I did it,' because I can't handle it anymore. It is killing me," Ashley wrote. "My whole body is hurting. I am only 12 years old. I'm too young to be having to do this."

Bobby Gene Palmer looked at his daughter as she read her statement -- sometimes looking down, sometimes closing his eyes.

When his turn came, Palmer showed no remorse.

"I love my daughter," he said. "I never meant to do any harm. I'm a loving parent."

Jailhouse recordings show Palmer expressing little interest in his daughter's welfare while lamenting his predicament. "I've lost a lot of things. My boat, my car, my dog, my tools, my fishing equipment," Palmer tells his mother. "I just want to go home and go fishing."

The final words belonged to the judge.

"Mr. Palmer, I have been practicing law for over 30 years and ... it is seldom I find myself almost without words. It defies description that you can utter the words that you love your kids and will always be their dad," Maurer said. "The horror of this is you have never been her dad.

"I'm going to sentence you to 700 months in prison. You will not likely ever get out."

I hope this sentence is carried out as stated, he should never get out.

I pray this little girl has a strong support system to help her through this and go on with her life.
