Casey Anthony Trial Day 9: Gerardo Bloise Testifies That Car Smelled Like Death/Jury Sees More Jail Videos
Jurors To See More Jail Videos On Day 20 Of Casey Trial
Updated: 7:53 am EDT June 3, 2011
ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- Day 20 of Casey Anthony's murder trial will begin on Friday, and jurors will likely see more recorded jail visits between Casey and her family.
The prosecution is expected to introduce at least two more recordings of visits Casey had in the weeks following her initial July 2008 arrest.
On Thursday, the jury saw several videos showing Casey telling her family what they should do to help find Caylee, even though the defense claims she had already been dead for weeks.
Recorded jail house visits reveal depth and detail of Casey's lies about what happened to Caylee.
"All I want is to see her again, to hear her laugh, to see her smile,” said Casey.
The defense admits at this point Casey knew her 2-year-old daughter is dead. Prosecutors say Casey murdered her.
As the second week of testimony wraps up, the defense is just now asking the court to allow a new witness and new evidence to be added.

This may be farfetched, but I'm going to throw it out there anyways. They testified today that there was dried vegetation found on the bottom of Casey's car. The vegetation was collected on July 25, 2008. They photographed it, and numbered it, and kept it as evidence.
Remember after they found Caylee, and they cleared out the wooded area where she was found? I assume they processed those plants.
I remember seeing a true case on Forensics Files, or something, where they were able to place a suspect at the scene of a crime, because they were able to DNA match a seed that fell from a tree and landed in the back of the suspect's pick up truck, back to that parent tree, which is where the crime took place or the body was found.
I hope that's where they are going with this....This dried vegetation, found on Casey Anthony's car, matches this plant, which is where Caylee was found.

A big star for Julie! I agree with you! There is definitely something to this. I've seen something similar on TV.
Makes me think she pulled down in there as far as she could, not just the side of the road.

Piper & Barb, I really hope LE in FL can do this. The part I wasn't sure about was that the vegetation on Casey's car was "dried out". I don't know if they can extract DNA from a dried out leaf. I never knew there was such a thing as plant DNA until I saw that episode.

Day 9: Investigator Says Car Smelled Like Death
CSI Testifies About Anthony's Car
UPDATED: 5:55 pm EDT June 3, 2011
ORLANDO, Fla. -- Prosecutors in the case against Casey Anthony gave the jury a tour of Casey Anthony’s car Friday afternoon through photos and evidence in the courtroom as a crime scene investigator said that, in his own opinion, the car smelled like human decomposition.
Gerardo Bloise, a crime scene investigator with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, identified numerous photos of Anthony’s Pontiac Sunfire and also identified envelopes and boxes that contained evidence from the car.

Day 20: Parts Of Casey's Car Trunk Shown As Evidence
Day 20 of Casey's murder trial on Friday was the first day prosecutors pulled out physical evidence from her car. Prosecutors pulled out pieces of the trunk of Casey's car that they said held Caylee Anthony's body.
Casey Anthony entered the courtroom on Friday just after 8:50am, wearing a long-sleeved button down yellow shirt and grey pants. She had her hair pulled back in a tight bun.

Re: Casey Anthony Trial Day 9: Gerardo Bloise Testifies That Car Smelled Like Death/Jury Sees More Jail Videos
A couple of things on the tapes today-
Casey kept saying to George that she could not do anything from "where I'm at"- this was obviously pressure for him to somehow get the bail money even though they kept saying they could not do anything more financially to get her out- yet she keeps saying it, which is like emotional blackmail since she is implying if she was free on bail, they would have a much better chance of finding Caylee (of course she got bail and did nothing but that is beside the point)
There is a point where George is talking to her about being at some event and he says "the focus was more on Caylee" and she interrupts him with "As it should be..." but then he finishes saying that the event was about many missing children. I think she thought he was saying "the focus was more on Caylee than you being unjustly jailed" and that is why she added "as it should be.." because obviously all missing children are important but she again was only thinking about herself and her own importance of being in jail.
I also think there is one thing she says in the tapes that could hold the clue to her entire mentality about it. She says something like "I don't want to end up being one of those thousands of mothers who never see their children again." In her mind, she thinks something like this is a common occurrence and it does seem like it, if she researched it like we know she did because she went to that 'missing kids' website before anything even happened to Caylee- on the internet, it says 800,000 children a year under 18 are reported missing, which is 2,000 a day. That is obviously a HUGE number. I am sure she has seen shows like I have that have interviewed these parents and so many of them talk about how useless the police were in these cases. Some say they were only interviewed a couple of times and they just stopped checking in with them over time. I think that is what she thought was going to happen to HER. She thought she was going to tell her Zanny story, the police would just keep telling her they could not find her, she would play the grieving mother, go to a few meetings and that would be the end of it. And I think that DOES happen to people, 2,000 a day is an overwhelming number to think about it and almost none of those cases get wide exposure. For some reason, this one did. But I do think that might explain her mentality a bit in how she went about it, and her saying that is a sign of what her thought process was.

Great points, ronald mascot!
Alot of these children, if not the majority of them, that come up missing are familial abductions. That can be frustrating for the custodial parent when the police appear to be aloof about investigating it. Many times the police consider the children runaways and leave it at that.
Casey should have done her homework on it because her daughter would neither run away nor be abducted by her father. Or perhaps Casey felt her scenario would be the same as the Trenton Duckett case-the police not able to find the tyke. If true, I can picture Casey thinking she could do the "storyline" better.

ARG! I'm several days behind watching the trial...good thing I have them taped and J4 has the links here....I tried to watch a bit but I kept seeing Baez and his bearded weirdo sidekick act pompous and ignorant and I wanted to wait till I had time to enjoy the circus.
I've had a bad week. Maybe I'll be caught up by Monday and can join in some. I miss following in real time.

Awww...so sorry for your loss, Lottie M.~
I noticed that, too, that Baez was making the State's case more than his client's. Geesh! I wonder when it gets to be his turn if he will just say, "Nevermind, we want to go to closing arguments".
A friend of mine has a brother who is a lawyer and he said that Baez was the best advocate for the State they have.

Thanks Julie. We had him for 20 years. He was like Mr Ed...really smart and so much fun to just hang around beside. He was almost human the way he would play with us. We miss him so much and always will.
Judge Perry told the state Baez could bolster their case if he wanted to...he said he wasn't going to stop him if that's they way he wanted to go.

Did you see where Bozo wanted to strike from the records where George and Cindy were questioning his motives and expertise to KC on the jail house tapes?
Bozo kept phrasing it differently to JP as to why he wanted the remarks stricken....JP make him go come up with one coherent reason and stick to it before he'd decided. Finally, JP read into the special instructions to the jury that George and Cindy's remarks were to be considered opinions....but he let the remarks remain unstricken.
G and C - on the tapes- were questioning if Bozo was giving KC all the info they'd passed onto her and opining that he might be using this case to promote his own fame rather than really defending her in her best interest.

This trial is so weird with Bozo doing who knows what in an effort to hear himself talk....and KC sits there every day watching the computer screen as if she's watching a Lifetime movie about somebody else, and then listening to the witnesses as if she's a lawyer too for somebody like they're not even talking about her. C R AAAA Z EEEE!

Re: Casey Anthony Trial Day 9: Gerardo Bloise Testifies That Car Smelled Like Death/Jury Sees More Jail Videos
Or his 'gotcha' voice when he says "I have no more questions for this witness" as if he is done because he's made some kind of earth shattering point when in reality he's done because he can't think of anything else stupid to say....then he looks at the jury all smug like they 'got it' and are shaking their heads at dumb the prosecution is!

Besides Jose's total lack of preparedness to crossX any witness (and I doubt this would be any different if he was directly questioning his own witness!), I get a chuckle when he blusters all up and finishes like: "I'm done with this guy!" but then has to scurry over to the defense table and ask Cheney and Dot if there was anything else he was sposed to ask em. Neither one of them seem to be paying much attention either tho. kh

Oh I love that too, kh....and how many times has he said he was done and then came back and said no he wasn't and had a few more questions. How unorganized is this moron?
