ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- On Tuesday morning, seven women and five men will listen to opening statements to decide if Casey Anthony is guilty of killing her 2-year-old daughter, Caylee.

WFTV legal analyst Bill Sheaffer said the 12 jurors deciding Casey's fate will hear some of the most important remarks of the entire trial.

He said the defense will likely try to explain Casey's bizarre actions, while the state will focus on the emotional side of the case.

"I think it will be a pretty dramatic opening for the state. I imagine the state will want to put a face on little Caylee... they'll show those darling pictures of her," said Sheaffer.

Sheaffer also said they'll play the 911 call where Cindy Anthony talks about smelling a dead body in Casey's car, and lay out their forensic evidence against her.

He believes they'll also show some pictures of Casey partying.

Casey Cries During Opening Statements Of Murder Trial

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- Only minutes into the prosecution's opening statements in Casey Anthony's murder trial on Tuesday, Casey became visibly upset, nodding her head and then crying.

Casey Anthony walked into the Orange County courtroom at 8:50am on Tuesday, wearing a white, long-sleeved shirt and she had her hair pulled back into a ponytail. Her parents, Cindy and George Anthony were present.

Casey is accused of killing her daughter, 2-year-old Caylee Anthony, and dumping the body in the woods near her parent's home on Suburban Drive.

Circuit Judge Belvin Perry called the court to order around 9:00am on Tuesday.

Prosecutor Linda Drane-Burdick began opening statements, describing Casey's home life, and her life with Caylee. Casey wiped away tears as Drane-Burdick began describing the last day that Caylee was seen by her grandparents.

The prosecution described a day-by-day account of the disappearance of Caylee and detailed dozens of lies that led up to the discovery of Caylee's body.

Drane-Burdick offered a timeline of Casey's whereabouts based on cell phone records. The timeline stretched from the time Caylee was last seen by her grandparents on Father's Day 2008 until her remains were discovered by a meter reader in the woods near her home in December 2008.

Jurors were shown images on a screen of a photo of Caylee taken on Father's Day alongside an image of the little girl's skeletal remains.

"It is time to tell the story of a little girl named Caylee," Drane Burdick said

Casey cried throughout the opening statements from both the prosecution and the defense on Tuesday. However, Casey was most emotional after lunch when her attorney, Jose Baez, stated to the jurors that Caylee Anthony was never missing, but drowned in her family's pool.

"How in the world can a mother wait 30 days to report a child missing? It's insane. Something's just not right about that. The answer is relatively simple. She never was missing. Caylee Anthony died on June 16, 2008, when she drowned in her family's swimming pool," Baez stated.

Baez claimed that George Anthony said to Casey after finding Caylee allegedly dead in the pool, "Look what you’ve done! You're mother will never forgive you! And you will go to jail for child neglect for the rest of your freaking life!"

Casey's attorney said that George covered up Caylee's accidental death.

ORLANDO, Fla. -- For the first time Tuesday, jurors in the Casey Anthony murder trial got to hear exactly what stories the state and defense plan to tell to proclaim Anthony's guilt or innocence during what could be an eight-week trial.

Opening statements lasted more than six hours Tuesday.

Prosecutor Linda Drane Burdick told the story of Caylee Anthony's disappearance day-by-day.

Drane Burdick painted a picture for jurors of a young woman who knows nothing other than to lie.

so Bozo said Kronk found Caylee much earlier and held on to the remains to collect the reward money. WTH how did he hold on to them, they were in that same area (where he reported them to the police 3 times in August) or the weeds could not have grown up around the bones.

He is a bonafide idiot.

Since I am sorely lacking in the modern convenience of sound on my old PC, is there by chance any closed captioning on any of these web sites so I may at least read what's going on?

I thought Baez might be making a good reasonable doubt issue about the drowning and George being complicit in the coverup....but when he got to Kronk and all that bullshit about Kronk holding onto the body for several months Baez's credibility was shot. How stupid and lame...and his argument about the car trunk - as if there had never been a body in it- well, tell me Baez...how did Caylee's body get moved from the backyard then? Seriously, you just can't argue that the body was not in the trunk at some point...regardless of who put it there, it was there.

That said, the day the prosecution is saying Caylee probably moved the body in her car - the day it was backed up into the garage...Casey had Tony's jeep at Chris S's house.

Regardless of if it's true or not, I do think the pool drowning theory is a good one....and I think they should also say George temporarily buried Caylee in the backyard in that spot where he moved that bush from just days after she was last seen....the spot the dogs hit on.

At the end of day one, I think Baez is royally screwed with his pool drowning accident story for the simple reason that all the other crap he said was so ridiculous and obviously straw-grabbing, it will only make the jury think the pool drowning theory is straw-grabbing as well.

Yes, mama....Baez is a bonafide idiot!

So far I haven't seen any sites showing the trial that offer closed captioning on their videos, but I'll try to check all of them tomorrow and see if I can find one.

It is mentioned that the State is the one who let the Anthonys know the defense's nasty tactic. I thought it was the defense that let them in on it. There's alot of good points that Bill Schaeffer makes in the video above.

I really enjoyed chatting and exchanging thoughts and ideas with everyone who joined the chat n watch thread today. I made some new friends today and was able to spend time with some of my old friends too. Although the situation that brought us all together is a tragic one I feel that I have been blessed to be a part of something very special. Thank you all for sharing a piece of yourselves.

I watched IN SESSION this morning and saw the opening statements but then it cut out. I had no clue until now that George testified today. Does anyone have a link to his complete testamony? I can only find a 2 minute news coverage clip. Thanks if you can help.

I am so glad the State told George what was going down. He certainly handled himself well under these circumstances. I do not believe George Anthony was aware of Caylee's death and helped conceal it. I am certainly not one to ever discount a sex abuse claim from a child. But I'm sorry, Casey Anthony is a proven pathological liar and I don't believe any of that "Flowers in the Attic" BS that Baez ripped off in open court. He is disgusting and so is she.

LOL, Neikopie and Sherry...I agree. I don't buy that for a minute. That book and movie came out AGES ago. I also wonder if Ann Finnell had something to do with that.
The book was released in 1979 and the movie was labeled a horror film, 1989. I read the book and saw the movie - way back when.

Wow, Piper...the book was released that long ago? I remember reading all (I think it was) 5 books in that series, and I remember the movie too. The movie wasn't as good as the book.

You are welcome Piper. I agree with you that George probably wasn't aware of Caylee's death, especially not before July 15 ,2008. I can't say for sure whether George molested Casey or not, but I see her hundreds of lies the same as crying wolf too many times. Nothing she says has any credibility with me, so I'm inclined to believe George when he says he didn't molest her.

I don't know about this sexual abuse thing, but Casey's promiscuity with so many men 'could' be an indication she was abused by George...then again, she could just be a slut. I can still see her hip swagger of long ago, walking around like a bitch in heat. I think that spells slut moreso than anything to do with sexual abuse by her daddy. But I don't want to judge that really...if she was abused, then it's too cliche to just reject that possibility off hand.

But to me, George makes it hard to believe him too. I found his testimony to be contrived and overly dramatic. I can't believe he was so happy about being in the delivery room with Casey....I found that sickening. I also found it hard to believe that he didn't even ask who had knocked Casey up. Why didn't he ask? What was he afraid she'd say? If he had had sex with her perhaps he was afraid to ask for fear Casey would remind him the baby could be his for all she knew. Whatever, anyone who doesn't ask who the father is is suspect in my book for lying.

I feel so bad for George Anthony. How much can one man take? If I were him I would be ready to throw the switch on Casey's electric chair myself. I hope and pray that Cindy has come to her senses by this point and that she backs her husband. Especially in light of what has happened in the last few days...

Maybe George knew his daughter was a slut and figured she would not be able to answer him concerning who the father is. Or maybe he figured his daughter is old enough not to have to answer to him (she was 19yo). Or, and this is the one I think it is, Cindy finally had him trained enough to stay out of his daughter's business because she would handle it.

I've heard that decievers are very easy to deceive-I think Baez was easily deceived by Casey!
The old saying is that those who deceive are readily decieved and keep on decieving.

I had an odd thought....what if Bozo admitted Casey said Caylee died on June 16th in an accidental drowning to throw off from the real day and/or the real reason she died?

Like, let's say KC duct taped a drugged up sleeping Caylee in the car after she couldn't pawn her off on Cindy that afternoon of the 16th (recalling Cindy's testimony that KC wanted to but it was a Monday so she couldn't because of meetings) with the intention of Caylee dying to be done with all this mess of not being able to do what she wanted to do without worrying about having to beg her parents to keep the kid?

It just makes me wonder since he's not crossing with any intention of suggestion it was an accident...he is still trying to prove KC didn't have anything to do with any dead body in the trunk and/or that there was no evidence there was a dead body in the trunk. And it makes no sense because he didn't say in opening that someone else moved Caylee's body anywhere.
