The suspect in custody is NOT JOE OVERSTREET.

I just heard that Joe Overstreet has NOT been detained.

An aerial photo appears to show divers removing a large box from the river. Putnam County authorities would not confirm whether Tuesday's search turned up any physical evidence.

The newspaper made the above statement on this box, I am not sure if this is evidence or not. That could be misleading.

Update from above article:
POSTED: Tuesday, April 13, 2010
UPDATED: 5:42 pm EDT April 13, 2010
Several of Haleigh's relatives were brought to the sheriff's office earlier Tuesday where they were inside for about an hour and a half. The sheriff's office said in a news release that the purpose of the meeting was to inform the family of the search and updated them on the status of the investigation.
Jail records showed that Misty Cummings, the last person to see the then-5-year-old when she vanished from her home in February 2009, was removed from the St. Johns County Jail for a short time Tuesday. The sheriff said she was being brought back to Putnam County for an interview.
By 5:30 p.m., Cummings was back in the St. Johns County Jail, where she's being held on drug trafficking charges.

My own opinion, it was Tommy that broke. And Cousin Joe is involved, I could be very wrong. But that's my feeling. They moved Misty back to St. John's County jail by 5:30, they pulled Ron out of his cell to include him in the family discussion...

Haleigh Cummings Update: Suspect may be in custody?
Posted on April 13th, 2010 by Simon Barrett in Breaking News, crime
Doug Clifford/Simon Barrett/TJ Hart
Investigators were back out in Satsuma, Fla. looking for clues in the Haleigh Cummings investigation Tuesday. She’s the 5-year-old girl who disappeared from her bed in her father’s mobile home 14 months ago.
Sources told WFTV a suspect is in custody, but wouldn’t provide any additional details.
News Talk 97.3 the Sky is working hard to get confirmation on this claim.
Jacksonville.com reports a break may have come in the case from Misty Croslin, who was with Haleigh and the youngster’s brother the evening before the kindergartner disappeared. Her attorney said Croslin, who is jailed on drug-trafficking charges, may have provided helpful information that led to other leads.”This latest search was based on information from someone else,” said attorney Robert Fields. He said Croslin may have “shed some light” on who was responsible.”Somebody else has possibly been implicated in this,” he said. “You need to look away from Misty.”
Putnam County Sheriff Jeff Hardy spoke to members of the press Tuesday afternoon regarding the search for missing 6-year-old Haleigh Cummings of Satsuma around a boat ramp not far from her home where she was last seen February 9, 2009.
According to Hardy, Haleigh or her remains have not been found, but insists “the search will go on as long as it takes.”
Hardy stated that he had met with family members earlier on Tuesday, but declined to say what was discussed.
That search remains focused along the St. John’s River between Wellaka and Satsuma near County Road 309.
Several law enforcement boats have been scouring the river near the boat ramp at the end of Shell Harbor Road, which is blocked off by deputies.
This is an area that was searched about a year ago.

NG is saying that Misty flunked a 4th polygraph. Now that would not suprise me BUT my issue is this: LE has never said a single word about her polys...... One of the polys given by TM reported her failure, but not LE. I would like to know where all this LD test info is coming from! kh

Agreed Cali.
I don't put a lot of stock in what NG, AH or Levi report. They tend to base these reports only loosely on facts. THe sherrif has not said this is a homicide investigation. How the heck would anyone except LE know if Tommy passed/failed the recent poly? LE doesn't comment on LD results. So I find it a bit disingenuous for NG to say that "Misty has failed 4 LD tests!!!" LP suffers from this same affliction. This is just my opinion, and I don't want to offend anyone. But their reports leave more questions than answers.......... and a lot of rumors get started because of it. And what I want now are the facts. kh

New Haleigh Cummings Search – What Sparked It?Posted on April 13th, 2010

The PCSO statement that was sent out this morning is actually quite an interesting one. A statement prompted by BNN’s first article. There is one part in particular that is very noteworthy.
I spoke to the tipster earlier today. And I can say he was very surprised when I introduced myself. The PCSO want to keep his identity out of the press for the time being, and I can certainly understand why. The ensuing feeding frenzy would put a bunch of starving sharks to shame! I for one have been pondering the significance of this persons identity all morning and it leads to a very intriguing possible chain of events that does tie directly to one of the folks currently experiencing the hospitality of the Florida jail system.
A discovery was made at around 9pm last night, and although the person opted not to share the details, it does seem that some form of physical evidence was found. The tipster has agreed to talk with me later. I will say this, this was no random find by a random person.
I have also been asked not to reveal the exact location of the search, but it does involve a boat ramp on the St. Johns river that is not very far from where Haleigh Cummings disappeared from. The PCSO do have the area cordoned off from prying eyes. But how long they will be able to keep the location under wraps can be measured in minutes.

Due to the sensitivity of this investigation, the name of the person providing the tip and the physical evidence alleged to be in this area, will not be released.

NG does not like Misty, I just want to know what really happened. I've watched Jane and NG tonight, which I normally don't. But NG's show started out wrong from the get go. She was not correct in what she said, as far as what went down today.

If it was left up to NG, Misty is tried & convicted already. With NG's "scenerio's".
Re: New Search for HaLeigh 04/13
Misty told LE early on about her cousin. He had abused her, then there was his strange behavior that night, noted by the family. The scratches on the van were reported. Then Joe left town, quickly. It seems LE wrote this off.

I was out and missed JVM and NG tonight, but what I'm reading about the shows doesn't surprise me.
It's kind of funny that many of us on this site have stated over and over again that LE should expand their focus beyond Misty and take a closer look at Tommy and Joe. I've always held out hope that Haleigh was alive, but at the same time that dumpster hit by the dogs has always bothered me. I hope whoever is talking isn't blowing smoke and that we get a resolution to this case soon.

I usually put her on mute until some actual cop or news person comes on to talk. If I let her talk I've got a 30 second breaking point! That happened the other day after she called Roy Kronk, Ray! She spit it right out there all proud like she was right. I was thinking what she'd say if anyone corrected her. She'd probably go "You can call him Roy or anything you want to but he didn't kill Caylee *insert full name and title of person who corrected her here".

Haleigh search heats up, recovered items brought anthropologist to river
"Snip" By Larry Sullivan http://www.palatkadailynews.com/articles/2010/04/14/news/news01.txt
Published: Wednesday, April 14, 2010
Divers searching for Haleigh Cummings on Tuesday apparently recovered items that brought a University of Florida anthropologist to the St. Johns River south of Satsuma.
Tuesday morning saw a dramatic increase in activity, with dozens of officers from several law enforcement agencies converging on the Shell Harbour boat ramp in South Putnam.
It was clear that investigators expected to find something on Tuesday.
The Shell Harbour camp area was not searched when Haleigh vanished 14 months ago, Greenwood said.
Authorities also refused to say what divers found and, whether Haleigh's case has shifted to a homicide investigation.
"That is a decision that will be made later, said" Sheriff Hardy.
Hardy also met privately with Haleigh's family members, including her father, Ronald Cummings, for "some private conversations."
Officials refused to confirm or deny that possible human remains were recovered Tuesday but did say the search was scheduled to resume today.
About 5 p.m., a truck from the university drove through the checkpoint. The vehicle was from the C.A. Pound Human Identification Laboratory, which the school says provides "forensic anthropology services for medical examiners and coroners."
The lab has been involved in several high-profile cases.
The truck left about 7:30 p.m. and officials did not say whether human bones had been found.
It was mid-morning when local, state and federal officers swarmed over the Shell Harbour neighborhood, which lies between the river and County Road 309. As boats and divers entered the river, detectives interviewed residents and other deputies sealed off the neighborhood. Only law enforcement and people who lived in the neighborhood were allowed in.
Carl Brown, who lives in the neighborhood, said a deputy yelled at him to leave when he walked toward where the search was launched.
"We're taxpayers and we live in the community and we have a right to know what's going on," Brown said. "He screamed at me just like I was a dog."
Authorities also kept boaters from passing through that section of the river, an action that prevented four boats of vacationers from reaching Stegbones Fish Camp after a morning of fishing.
"They were coming back to clean their fish and eat and they can't come back," camp manager Stan Plaisted said.
Bands of rain showers rolled through the area Tuesday, dousing searchers, reporters and the stranded boaters.
As divers worked, other searchers covered the shore with dogs specially trained to find dead bodies and police boats equipped with sonar followed search patterns across the river.
Several containers of items recovered by divers were loaded onto boats and taken to shore.
Visibility was poor in the water, Lt. Ben Allen of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said Tuesday night.
On Tuesday Misty Croslin was brought to the Putnam for questioning, then returned to the jail in St. Augustine. She did not meet with Haleigh's relatives.
Brown said, Misty Croslin, "used to live two blocks from here" with her parents.
Brown said another resident told him he saw Croslin carrying a trash bag nearby in the days after Haleigh was reported missing.

Authorities in Tennessee Question Misty Croslin's Relative About Haleigh's Disappearance
Patricia Jimenez Jackelyn Barnard Created: 4/14/2010 4:34:08 AM Updated: 4/14/2010 4:39:53 AM
NASHVILLE, Tn. -- Authorities have interviewed another one of Misty Croslin's relatives in reference to Haleigh Cumming's disappearance.
Croslins's cousin, Joe Overstreet, was interviewed late Tuesday night. The 20-year-old lives in Nashville, Tennessee.
He has been interviewed by police before. His mother, who says she is also Croslin's aunt, told First Coast News Tuesday afternoon her family had not heard from police in months.
"My son is at home not doing anything, not bothering anyone and people continue to bother him."
She says it's been six months since police contacted her son. But that all changed Tuesday night.
Overstreet spent the evening with family and friends. Then around 11:30 Tuesday night his attorney, Shawn Sirgo, showed up.
The two talked outside Overstreet's home for 20 minutes and then left in his attorney's car.
First Coast News followed the two to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation in Nashville.
Overstreet and his attorney were escorted inside. Less than 45 minutes later, Overstreet was out and on his way back home.
"I did get a phone call from an agent in Florida. He asked if I could accompany Joseph to speak with them," says Sirgo.
Sirgo says Overstreet's last interview was four to six months ago and the one Tuesday night was a follow up and was not unexpected.
Sirgo would not say who did the interview, but he did confirm the agents were from Florida.
"They're just doing what their job is, gather all the information they can gather. And we are cooperating to the best of our ability to assist them."
Sirgo says Overstreet was in the Satsuma area when Haleigh disappeared, but Overstreet has no knowledge of what happened to the child.
He says his client is innocent.

Finally this family will have some closure. I was thinking it was this Joe guy but now that I read he is released I don't know. Then to listen to the PI for Chrystal claim he solved it and how he answered those questions it is all a bit confusing. But to read that someone saw Misty carrying a black trash bag is quite telling. Well I guess all there is to do now is wait for the details!

Haleigh Cummings: Grandmother says she believes Misty Croslin told authorities something new
NBC, Today, WESH — posted by halboedeker on April, 14 2010 9:24 AM
Haleigh Cummings’ paternal grandmother told “Today” this morning that she believes Misty Croslin has told authorities something new in the case of the missing girl.
“I do believe that she [Croslin] told them something. I’m not sure what it is or how it can help,” grandmother Teresa Neves said. “I know they’ve spoken to her. I do not know if this new lead has anything to do with her.”
Authorities yesterday started a new search of the St. Johns River, which continues today. Croslin was baby-sitting 5-year-old Misty when the girl disappeared in February 2009. Croslin later married and divorced Ronald Cummings, Haleigh’s father. Crosling and Cummings are jailed on drug charges.
Michelle Kosinski of “Today” reported that Croslin’s lawyer says the new tip didn’t come from his client.
Neves couldn’t say a lot about the new search, she told NBC’s Meredith Vieira. Neves said the family holds out hope that Haleigh is alive.
Vieira asked Neves how she holds on to the hope. ”A lot of prayer, really that’s all you can do is hope,” Neves said, her voice breaking.

Yes, I guess we just have to wait...If someone saw Misty carrying a trashbag in that area after Haleigh went missing, you would hope they would have reported it then.
