Indigency Takes Toll On Casey Anthony Defense
Expert Witnesses Added To List By Defense
POSTED: 4:09 pm EDT July 1, 2010
UPDATED: 5:30 pm EDT July 1, 2010
ORLANDO, Fla. -- Attorneys for Casey Anthony filed a new list of witnesses on Thursday who will testify on behalf of her defense.
Four of the eight names on the list are expert witnesses. The defense team wanted to include more experts, but Judge Belvin Perry denied the use of more tax money to pay for them.
The witness list includes a plant expert from Colorado, Dr. Jane Bock, and an insect expert from Nebraska, Dr. Timothy Huntington. A Canadian forensic anthropologist is also included, as well as Florida International University professor Dr. Ken Furton. They are expected to challenge tests on the air in Casey's car.
"The case has always been kind of simple, and the witness list reflects that," defense attorney Richard Hornsby said.
Hornsby said the experts will attack the science involved in the tests. Others on the list, including Roy Kronk's ex-wife, will be used to try to raise reasonable doubt that someone else could have put Caylee Anthony's remains in the woods after Casey Anthony was indicted and jailed.
Hornsby said the list looks minimal since Anthony declared indigency.
"I think the defense had some grandiose ideas about how they were going to attack the state's case with experts from all over the country," Hornsby said.
But those ideas were cut back by Perry, who because of Anthony's indigency became the decider of which defense experts were necessary and which ones were not.
"If you're only going to have one testify, why do I have to pay for two?" Perry asked.
"Once you declare indigency, you're not entitled to an extravagant defense -- just a reasonable defense," Hornsby said.

Kronk's Lawyer Wants His Name Off Of Witness List
He Says Status As Possible Witness Could Lead To Disqualification
POSTED: 3:32 pm EDT September 3, 2010
ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- There’s a new controversy over the latest witness list submitted by Casey Anthony’s defense attorneys.
The list names David Evans as a possible witness. Evans is the attorney for former meter reader Roy Kronk, and could be disqualified from representing Kronk if he is asked to take the stand.
Evans said on Friday he has no information that would help the defense. He said he would take the issue to Judge Belvin Perry, if attorneys wouldn’t remove his name from the list.

Re: Defense Witnesses/Experts
WESH is reporting that Jennifer Killins and Michael Antonello have been added to the defense witness list.
Jennifer Killins is the resident who called police on October 9, 2008 and reported hearing screaming and calls for help coming from the wooded area by Hidden Oaks Elementary School on Suburban Drive. A second caller, later identified as Renier Pistorius had also called 9-1-1 and reported hearing the calls for help that Jennifer had reported. Jennifer and Renier were not aware that each other had called the police or had heard the same calls for help until officers arrived.
Both Jennifer and Renier indicated that they heard the calls coming from the wooded area. Jennifer stated that she was in front of her residence when she heard what she described as an adolescent voice calling for help, and that the calls for help sounded to her to be very stressed and genuine. Renier described the voice as possibly being that of a young woman's or a child's and he also stated that the person calling for help appeared to be under some sort of duress.
The officers conducted an extensive search of the area and didn't find anything. A faculty member told them that a high performance autistic child had been outside the school yelling loudly around the time that Jennifer and Renier heard the voices and that some of his words may have been mistaken for help.
Michael Antonello is also on the state's witness list. He is general counsel for American Media who publishes the Globe magazine. He turned over six photographs of Caylee Anthony to detectives in which she was wearing the pink "big trouble comes in small package" t-shirt. He confirmed that Ricardo Morales had sold those photographs to the Globe magazine in 2008.

This bit about the yelling child in October doesn't hold water...Even the school refutes the theory that it was Caylee...and how many times had KC complained about the stinkin squirrels prior to this??? Never fear dear Caylee, Justice is near!!!!

I agree Estee. The jury is going to get fed up with having their time wasted and having their intelligence insulted by the defense. It's preposterous to think that somebody would have murdered Caylee in the woods by the school right when students were everywhere with the school day about to begin.
We better prepare ourselves to sit through many red herrings during the trial in a futile attempt by the defense to cast reasonable doubt.

Source: Star Witness In Anthony Case Changes Tune
Defense Team Turning To Science To Raise Reasonable Doubt
UPDATED: 1:15 pm EST November 26, 2010
~Snipped~
A year ago, Anthony's defense produced statements from Texas EquuSearch volunteers Laura Buchanan and Joe Jordan that indicated there was nothing in the area off of Suburban Drive where Caylee Anthony's remains were later found.
Jordan later told detectives that was not his claim, and a source with knowledge of Buchanan's recent sworn deposition said her statement has changed as well.
"The defense seems willing to rely on questionable witnesses and incredible people to try to save Anthony's life, and in the end it's only going to do her more harm than good," Hornsby said.
The source told WESH 2 News that a recent deposition of meter reader Roy Kronk's son, Brandon Sparks, was not helpful to defense efforts to paint Kronk as a potential suspect. Kronk discovered the remains in December 2008.

"The defense seems willing to rely on questionable witnesses and incredible people to try to save Anthony's life, and in the end it's only going to do her more harm than good," Hornsby said.
He is exactly right, nothing they do is going to help her.

Casey Anthony defense team files expert witness list
By Anthony Colarossi, Orlando Sentinel
1:51 p.m. EST, December 1, 2010
The Casey Anthony defense team has filed a new, amended expert witness list in court with a full-roster of big-name scientists expected to testify at Anthony's upcoming murder trial.
Among those on the list:
•Dr. Henry Lee, the well-known criminalist and forensic pathologist often associated with the O.J. Simpson case. According to his website, Lee is founder and professor of the Forensic Science Program at the University of New Haven. During a 40-year period, Lee assisted with the investigations of some 6,000 cases.
Casey Anthony defense attorney Jose Baez called Lee "probably the world's foremost crime scene detective." He will testify about evidence from the recovery scene where Caylee Marie Anthony's remains were found, Casey Anthony's car and other areas.

And these "experts" on this list agreed to testify for the defense. How absolutely appalling. How hard up for fame or money can one get?

Casey Anthony: E-mail spat leads to new motion in Anthony case
Anthony's lead attorney, Jose Baez, and Assistant State Attorney Jeffrey L. Ashton exchanged emailed jabs over a recent order in the well-publicized case.
By Jeff Weiner, Orlando Sentinel
8:39 p.m. EST, December 2, 2010
snipped:
According to the state's motion, the prosecution was expecting a description of the testimony the expert witnesses will give when they take the stand. But in an email sent 10:47 a.m. Wednesday, Baez only included what he describes it in his message as "the field of [each expert's] anticipated testimony."
For example, the first expert listed is Dr. Henry Lee, of the University of New Haven's forensic science program. His listing includes his address, employer and a one-word description of his field, "Criminalist."
Other experts' fields are described as "forensic pathology," "anthropology" and "K-9 issue." One expert, Dr. William Rodriguez, is only described as, "Expert."
That list led to a series of emails back and forth between the two sides of the well-publicized case.

Casey's High School Boyfriend To Be Witness
Defense Attorneys Say Man Can Confirm Date Of Diary Entry
ORLANDO, Fla. -- Casey Anthony's defense attorneys said Wednesday they plan to call Anthony's former high school boyfriend as a witness to further establish a passage she wrote in her diary.
Defense attorneys say the entry in question was written in June 2003, but an FBI lab said the diary itself wasn't manufactured until 2004.
The writing in question says, "I have no regrets."

Casey Anthony Back In Court For Hearing
Updated: 10:02 am EDT April 1, 2011
ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- Both sides in the case against Casey Anthony are back in court Friday as defense attorneys try to get more key evidence thrown out.
Casey entered the courtroom just minutes after 8:50am, wearing a pink, scoop-necked sweater, and her hair tied back in a ponytail.
A former missing persons investigator took the stand first on Friday. Casey's lead attorney Jose Baez and the prosecution began questioning her about trash found in the trunk of Casey's car on July 15, 2008.
Cindy Anthony took the stand shortly after 9:10am and looked to be very emotional. Baez began questioning her about the bad odor that was emanating from Casey's car.
"What did you do with the car upon arriving?" asked Baez.
Cindy replied that she and George Anthony rolled down the windows, opened the doors and the trunk in order to air out the bad odor.
"I sprayed the entire car with Febreze," Cindy said. "In the trunk of the car there was a backpack of Caylee's."
During her cross examination, the prosecutor asked, "Are you in the habit of keeping Chloroform in your garage?"
Cindy answered, "No."

I can't stand Baez! He is going to insult the jury's intelligence with his moronic questions. What a dope!
I got a hot flash for Baez....I could go to our local dump any day of the hot summer and the smell of collective god knows what is not something that makes you want to gag. The bag of trash did not make that trunk stink Baez you dumb ass. Find something else to try to pawn off!

I just watched the first 4 parts, and it seems like JP is leaning over backwards for Bozo. I know Ashton would like to jack slap him into tomorrow, but Bozo just keeps on pulling his stupid actions.
I did notice KC looked at her mom and mouthed the words 'thank you' when CA left the stand.
Will try to get to the other parts tomorrow.

I missed most of the hearing, what would Casey possibly be thanking Cindy for? Was there something Cindy said during her questionning that would actually help Casey?

Oh, OK, I did hear something about the dryer sheets. But I also heard something where I guess before, during a depo, she said she didn't use dryer sheets? And I also heard (on TruTV, while the internet tech was here) that she said she used almost a whole bottle of Febreze?
I feel like I'm falling behind on this case!

That's right.......earlier depo (Ashton called her on it) she said she didn't. She explained that by saying it was a traumatic time and she was on a new anti-depressant and certain things are just now coming back to her. Then she said she sprayed Febreze, a whole can (her words), inside the car.

Don't forget how thrilling it must have been to be KC's mother! Do they make pills strong enough for those two ailments?

I
I wonder if she's going to 'remember' that George was responsible for Caylee's demise?
