Misty Croslin Enters 'No Contest' Plea to Putnam Drug Charges

PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. -- Misty Croslin could spend up to 240 years in prison following this morning's plea, but her attorney likely will seek a sentence closer to six years.

Croslin, the last person to see Haleigh Cummings in her home in February 2009, entered a "no contest" plea to the seven drug-related charges facing her following her arrest in January.

The maximum she could face if all seven charges are given the maximum sentence and are assigned consecutively would be 240 years, according to the state attorney's office.

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -- As Misty Cummings pleaded no contest to another drug trafficking charge, the attorney for the 18-year-old says she has has told investigators that her cousin put Haleigh Cummings in a black bag and took her away.

Misty's attorney, Robert Fields, said she has told investigators what happened in that Putnam County mobile home the February 2009 night that the 5-year-old disappeared.

Fields said Misty told detectives the day after she was arrested on the drug charges in January that her cousin, Joe Overstreet, and her brother, Hank Croslin Jr., came looking for a semi-automatic machine gun. Since the gun wasn't there, Overstreet took Haleigh as a substitute for the gun, the attorney said.

"According to Misty, Joe took Haleigh while Misty was laying in bed and covered herself up with a blanket," Fields told Channel 4 Tuesday outside the courtroom Tuesday morning. "They were there for like seven minutes, appeared to be on drugs and Misty says she saw Joe put Haleigh in a black bag and she heard Haleigh scream."

Why in the hell would a newspaper even print such a stupid statement. They could have said that she could face, but not that she could spend up to 240 years. No one lives that long, and they aren't going to leave her in her cell dead till her sentence is up. LOL

What I really wanted to ask, but couldn't pass that smart ass remark up, does she have more charges in Putnam county or the other county? Plead as a youthful offender in the county where she has the most charges would be the smart thing to do.

She has 2 more charges I believe in another county9 St John's? Something like that. kh

The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office has received numerous requests for an official comment regarding a statement made earlier today by Attorney Robert Fields. For those outlets not aware, Attorney Fields is legal counsel for Misty Croslin.

Attorney Fields made a statement to media outlets that after Misty Croslin’s arrest, she informed investigators what happened the night Haleigh Cummings went missing, and what happened to Haleigh Cummings.

Since the onset of this investigation, the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office has been asked to comment on information obtained during the investigation. The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office has always taken the firm stance that any information obtained in this case is not to be released, and any investigative strategies will not be discussed. The Haleigh Cummings investigation is far too important to be jeopardized by releasing this type of sensitive information.

The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office will not be participating in any formal interviews or providing statements regarding this morning’s events at this time. The main concern of the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office is finding Haleigh Cummings and returning her home to her family.

There are at least three people have mentioned a black bag: Joe Pytko (friend of WhiteBoyGreg), Misty, and a neighbor at Magnolia who claimed to have seen misty carrying a black bag.

Also, we have multiple different statements (and I mean MULTIPLE- many of which are conflicting but by the same people!) where these 5 things keep coming up over and over again:

Gun
Pills
Party
Water
Black bag

I hope they can get this all sorted out. But there do seem to be an awful lot of statements out their that include the list above.

I don't understand Mr.Fields reason for divulging Misty's supposed conversation with LE...I thought what she told her attorney was priviledged...Just why is he informing the media/public of this info ???
