Adam Longoria trial will be streamed "Live".

Per my contact with KWCH - Wichita, KS on 3-25-12:

The trial will be streamed "Live" and their will be a "Live" court room blog by KWCH - Wichita, KS.

"They" don't expect opening statements until Wednesday or Thursday. KWCH won't have a live stream or live blog until then.

Jury selection starts Monday, 3-26-12. Jury selection is closed to cameras.

The trial is underway with jury selection today. 500 jurors were summoned. 90 released before trial proceedings got underway. Jury selection expected to take 2 to 4 days.

The Defense tried unsuccessfully to get the trial moved from Barton County. In numerous articles over the week-end it was stated that many feel it will be a challenge for both the Defense & Prosecution to seat a jury.

As stated in a comment upthread, this trial will be "Live Streamed" by KWCH - Wichita, KS when Opening Statements/testimony starts. Also, KWCH will "Live Blog" from the Court Room.

I think this will be an interesting trial. I've followed this case as it unfolded and as it slowly worked its way to trial.

Adam Longoria gives me the chills! Also, he seems to always have a smirk on his face.

I hope he is found guilty. Although the State elected to not seek the death penalty, if Longoria is found guilty he can be sentenced to Life without Parole.

I support justice for Alicia DeBolt!

Prospective jurors are being questioned by attorneys as the Adam Longoria murder trial gets underway in Great Bend.

The 12 jurors and 2 alternates who will decide Longoria's fate will be chosen from a pool of more than 400 qualified people.

Longoria is charged with capital murder in the death of Alicia DeBolt, 14. The teenager's burned body was found in August of 2010 at an asphalt plant where the defendant worked.

GREAT BEND, Kan. | All prospective jurors questioned Monday told a judge they had seen media coverage about the case of a former asphalt plant worker accused of killing a 14-year-old girl whose charred body was found at the plant.

Questioning by attorneys highlighted the difficulties of seating an impartial jury in a close-knit community where many prospective jurors in the capital murder case against Adam Longoria, 38, also knew the family or some of the witnesses. Several would-be jurors had attended a vigil for Alicia DeBolt after her August 2010 killing.

From what the local news said last night getting this jury is going to be a timely proccess. I hope they give us warning before the stream starts!

bdfmom, I contacted KWCH on Sunday and the Manager that responded to me via e-mail said they will start Streaming Live when Opening Statements start. She said cameras are not allowed during jury selection.

So yes, we should have ample notice once the jury is seated.

Also, KWCH will have a Live Blog.

Are you near Barton County? I think Alicia DeBolt's murder was horrific. She was burned beyond recognition. What kind of sick monster does that!

Ann im not close enough to attend the trial although I would love too. This happened very close to where my grandaughter lives and I started following it out of fear for her. Actually one of my grandsons was friends with Alicia through school track meets, basketball games etc..
Im appauled that hew as met and brought to Kansas through a prison pen pal program. The woman who brought him here now lives in the same town as my grandkids and that scares the bejesus out of me.

GREAT BEND -- No one made a sound Monday when a prosecutor asked if anyone had not heard of the capital murder case against a man charged with killing a 14-year-old Great Bend girl.

Kevin O'Connor, special assistant Kansas attorney general, posed the question to a panel of prospective jurors summoned in the trial of 38-year-old Adam Joseph Longoria, charged in the August 2010 death of Alicia DeBolt.

DeBolt's burned body was found Aug. 24, 2010, at a Venture Corp. asphalt plant approximately 5 miles southwest of Great Bend where Longoria worked. The charges against Longoria allege the killing occurred after or amid criminal sodomy or an attempted rape.

After two days of jury selection, attorneys in Great Bend are close to seating a jury for the murder trail of Adam Longoria. Opening statements in the case are planned for Thursday.

Longoria is accused of killing 14-year-old Alica DeBolt in August 2010. The teenager's burned body was found in August of 2010 at an asphalt plant where the defendant worked. Prosecutors have charged Longoria under three different theories that he killed the girl during the commission of a sex act.

GREAT BEND — As deputies escorted Adam Longoria into the courtroom Tuesday, he squinted. For more than a week, authorities had been referring to Longoria as a "person of interest" in the killing of 14-year-old Alicia DeBolt.

Longoria moved to Great Bend in May after being released from a Texas prison. His criminal record included convictions for burglary and robbery.

He had been living in Great Bend with a girlfriend and her two children. He became acquainted with the Great Bend woman, through letters, while he was in prison.

Alicia was about to enter her freshman year at Great Bend High School.

Hundreds of people attended a memorial service for her last Friday.

Alicia Danielle DeBolt, 14, died August 22, 2010 at rural Great Bend, Kansas. She was born May 1, 1996 at Hays, Kansas, the daughter of Richard and Tamara (Hodges) DeBolt. She was a Great Bend resident since 2005, coming from Hays. She was a student and cheerleader at Great Bend High School; a competitive gymnast at Heartland Academy, Hays; and a former cheerleader at Larned Middle School. She was a vibrant, caring person with a heart as big as the ocean. Her spirit remains with her family and friends in every rainbow.

Alicia was a member of Celebration Church, Hays.

Survivors include her father, Richard DeBolt and companion Alethea Ashbaugh, Great Bend; her mother, Tammy Conrad and husband Danny, Great Bend; one sister, Dawn DeBolt and wife Holly and their children Hailee and Gracie Bonham; one brother, Christopher DeBolt; two step-sisters, Kearra LeDesma and Rose LeDesma; maternal grandparents, David and Kathern Hodges; step-grandparents, Lawrence and Marjorie Conrad; aunts, uncles, and cousins: Angela Murphy and husband Jerry; John Shelton and Sierra Keck and their son, Haven; Samuel Shelton and Meagan Murphy; Michael Hodges; Barry Hodges and wife Tonya and Hannah and Halli. It began with a 36-year-old man's obsession with a 14-year-old Great Bend girl.

That's what prosecutors with the Kansas Attorney General's Office allege in a case in which the man, Adam Longoria, would face the death penalty if convicted of capital murder in the death of the girl, Alicia DeBolt.

In court documents, prosecutors describe how they think the 14-year-old came to be murdered on Aug. 21, 2010.

Late that evening, Alicia disappeared after getting into an SUV. Three days later, workers found her burned body at an asphalt plant outside Great Bend.

The killer used duct tape on her face and an ankle in an attempt to rape her, prosecutors say in the documents. Prosecutors allege that she died during or after the rape attempt.

Her face had duct tape across both cheeks, from her chin to her nose. She most likely had been strangled or suffocated, documents say.

A pathologist concluded that she had been killed before her body was burned.

I am looking forward to Eva's testimony. As you know, the State referenced her name numerous times in their Opening Statement. She was Longoria's girlfriend at the time. It sounds like she might be the star witness for the State!

Yes Im excited to hear what she has to say too. they were on the second neighbor testifying about seeing the car making U turns so not sure what I missed after that. I honestly thought they would question Tammy and Dawn more though. How strong they were to sit up there and do what they did.

There are all kinds of things to click on within the article and videos from noon and this evening News.

Brian, the reporter from KWCH, is doing a great job on the blog. He has to also prepare for his article and live broadcast at noon and the evening news.

Today on the blog he said there were 444 folks (computers) following the trial. At the time he posted the info, there was an observer from Germany, some from CA, TX, etc.

I think Eva Brown, Longoria's girlfriend at the time, had a selective memory during her testimony!

Locals on the blog stated they wonder why she'd drive to TX to pick up Longoria, fresh out of prison after serving 7 yrs. in TX and let him loose on their community of Great Bend!

Ex-girlfriend says Longoria came home smelling of gas

Much of today’s testimony has focused on the discovery and documentation of Alicia’s badly burned body, which was found three days after her disappearance at the asphalt plant several miles southwest of town. Investigators found her body still clothed, her shorts unbuttoned, and the remains of duct tape over her nose and mouth, KBI Senior Special Agent Cory Latham testified. She also had duct tape on one ankle.

Part of this article is misleading. KBI Agent Cory Latham testified Alicia DeBolt's clothes fell off when Alicia's body was lifted to be put into a body bag. The KBI investigators put what was left of her clothes in 2 small cans which were introduced into evidence. The cans were not opened in court. Latham said the clothes under Alicia DeBolt (her back side) survived the fire better because they were somewhat protected from the intense heat and fire.

Also, the duct tape was removed before Alicia was put in the body bag to preserve whatever evidence KBI might be able to identify. Said that what was left of the duct tape could rub against the body bag and compromise evidence.

Duct tape not in good shape. In the Lab, a decision had to be made to either test for latent prints or DNA. They were not going to be able to test for both because of the condition of the duct tape. Because of the intense heat and fire, the duct tape yielded no prints which was not surprising. Latham said he requested the Lab test for latent prints. It has been his experience in burn cases that DNA would most likely be destroyed due to intense heat/fire.

Latham testified that Alicia had a piece of metal (jewelry) in her hand. Latham also demonstrated how Alicia's hands would contract due to the intense heat. Explained the muscles in the forearms and upper arms and how they would react to intense heat/fire which would cause a reaction in the hands.

Latham testified that there was jewelry and "bling" around the burned body. After the body was moved, there were many tiny, tiny pieces of bling. He said it was of the type that a shirt could have been decorated with.

Trial was cut short today due to a juror complaining of being ill (per a media source below).

Some witnesses were not live streamed (no pic or audio of testimony) because they requested it which Judge Kitts granted. Judge Kitts is allowing a pool camera in her court room but she has strict "rules" in place which KWCH is honoring. Last week a radio station violated the order and Judge Kitts banned them from streaming video or audio.

Part of today attorneys were in Judge Kitts' chambers discussing whatever.

Maybe tomorrow (Tuesday) will be a more productive day!

Weezie, when trying to watch the Longoria trial (Live Stream via KWCH), have you tried refreshing the page?

If you have a blank, black box, click on the box to get the controls to come up at the bottom of the box. Click on the arrow (Play) to the left. If there is video/audio streaming at the time, it will start your Stream. (play arrow).

Judge Kitts is giving the witnesses the following options: be Live Streamed - audio and video; audio but no video; no Live Stream of audio or video.

There are times when there is a blank screen because the witness has requested no Live Stream of their testimony. Brian, the KWCH reporter, has been awesome in giving us a heads up, on the Live Blog, if the witness has declined being Live Streamed.

The State rested their case Thursday morning. Defense put on a few witnesses and rested their case.

Longoria did not testify.

Judge Kitts adjourned court early mid-afternoon.

Friday, 4-6-12, Closing Arguments at 9 a.m. CDT.

I hope the jury finds Longoria guilty! Justice for Alicia DeBolt!

Judge Kitts has handed down the case of Adam Longoria to the jury for deliberations.

Brian Heap, Reporter at KWCH, has started the verdict watch as of 11:05 a.m. CDT.

GUILTY of Capital Murder and Criminal Sodomy. I just watched the verdict being delivered and every time the clerk said guilty, he rolled his eyes.

The judge, defense team and prosecutors are gone back to talk to the jury.
