NORTH COLLEGE HILL, OH -- Police are looking for a girl taken from a North College Hill school on Monday morning.

The incident happened at North College Hill Elementary on Grace Avenue just before 9 a.m.

The earliest report said they couldn't issue an Amber Alert because they didn't know who had custody.

Dispatchers said a black woman in a red wig took Sierra Amber Nicole Holley, 6, from the school without permission as students milled around before school started. Police said the girl's teacher saw the woman leaving with the girl and tried to stop her.

Police said they believe that Sierra's mother came up from Alabama and took her. The girl's stepfather has had custody for the last five years, police said.

Police said they think the mother is on her way back to Alabama with the girl, who is autistic.

Six Year Old Girl Abducted by Mother From School

Police say Sierra Amber Nicole Holley, a first grader, was dropped off at the school on Grace Avenue just before 9 a.m. by her stepfather, who has custody of her. Sierra, who is mildly autistic, made it into class. But police say her mother, who does not have custody, went into the classroom and gave a fake story about needing to remove the girl from class. The teacher allowed the girl to leave with her mother.

There is security video inside the school and police are hoping to get an image of the mother to release to the public soon.

Why do our children continue to be taken from schools? Was Angela even on the list of people authorized to remove Sierra from school? Parents need to be vigilant in keeping those lists up to date and I really hope a school wouldn't release a child to somebody not on the list.

Her mother, Angela Holley, was not authorized to pick her up from school. Angela chose a busy time, 8:48am, when the children were still milling around before the bell rang. She also wore a red/orange wig to disguise herself. Sierra's step-father has had custody of her for the last 5 years and apparently Angela had abducted Sierra once before. Not sure what the story is behind the mother not having custody. The school had cameras, but that didn't stop her from being able to take Sierra off school property. Angela apparently lied to the teacher, if that account is true. And from what I've read, Sierra's custodial parent was still at the school after dropping Sierra off, he was helping another parent with a car issue. It seems to me, the teacher and school failed to follow protocol. I hope Ms. Holley has no intention of harming her daughter, Sierra, and she's found safe.

School officials said security cameras were rolling as the incident happened.

Parents questioned how someone could just walk into a school and leave with a child.

"I understand it was Monday morning and everybody was trying to get it together, but that was careless -- just too careless," parent Gina Simpson said.

"The school is on lockdown configuration; however, when you've got all the kids and parents arriving in the morning, it is possible someone could have slipped in or out," Ferguson said.

The superintendent said security procedures are in place.

"It is too early to know the details of how it happened, but obviously, we're going to have to look at our arrival and dismissal procedures," Gary Gellert said.

NORTH COLLEGE HILL, Ohio -- Police have found a missing 6-year-old girl safe in Alabama.

Investigators said Sierra Holley was abducted Monday morning by her mother, who does not have custodial rights, at North College Hill Elementary School.

The girl was taken into protective custody Tuesday afternoon in Alabama, and police said her mother would be charged.

Police said Angela Holley took her daughter, who is autistic, from the school without permission and did not comply with a teacher's order to stop.

This is good news. I'm glad Sierra is okay.

I'm glad she was found & was safe.

Chase is in kindergarten, at a school that goes thru 5th grade. Moms pull up in front of the school, a teacher opens the door and lets the kid out, closes the door and moms/driver pull off. No one goes into the school to take kids to their class room. There is another teacher standing at the front door to let the kids in and there are 5th graders there to escort the kindergarten and 1st graders to their class rooms.

If parents go the the school for anything, they have to park at one end of the building, enter the front door (only) go directly to the office, be photographed on a computer and sign in their reason for being there. If it is to pick up a student, the office personnel checks to make sure that person has the right to pick up that student, and then the student is brought to the office. The parent never leaves the office, till ready to leave the school.

If I go to eat lunch with Chase, I have to sign in at the office, get a name tag with my name and Chase's name on it, then am escorted to the cafeteria, which is a different building, and wait outside till Chase's class arrives. After lunch, I then have to go back in the front door of the main school building and sign out on the computer.

It sounds like Chase's school has a safe setup mama. We also have to go to the office at my kids' school if we want to pick them up early. Sierra's teacher should not have let her go without checking with the office.

Mama, I'm glad to hear they have all of those security measures in place. All schools should follow that protocol. No one should be able to just walk away from a school with a child.
