Ann, thank you for the video. Did you notice how this judge seemed to be asleep at times, or maybe she was just resting her head on her fist while looking at the jury.
But it just looked strange compared to the way JP always sits up straight during testimony.

Re: Robert Manwill -- Found Deceased 8/3/09
I only have a few minutes. Hope to be back later.
I listened to the Closing Arguments. I think the State did a great job. Male attorney did the CA. They used a Power Point presentation.
I was not impressed with the Defense's Closing Argument.
The State did a Closing Argument rebuttal. The female attorney did it.
Afterwards, the Judge had the Clerk draw 3 names. There were 15 jurors during the trial. The TV station Live Stream broke away for this to protect the identity of the jurors. The 3 names drawn are the alternates. There are now 12 jurors who will deliberate the case.
The jurors were going to have dinner and then deliberate until
10 p.m. MDT. If necessary, they will resume deliberations tomorrow at 9 a.m. MDT.
If they do not render a verdict tomorrow, they will resume deliberations on Tuesday, 7-5-11.
When the jury reaches a verdict, the Judge will notify the attorneys and the media to give the media an opportunity to be there.
KTVB said they will stream it live.

BOISE -- Closing arguments have wrapped up in the Daniel Ehrlick murder trial and the jury is now deliberating the case.
Ehrlick is charged with first degree murder in the death of 8-year-old Robert Manwill.
He is accused of abusing the boy, which prosecutors say lead to his death.
Robert was missing for more than one week before his body was found in an irrigation canal near Kuna on August 3, 2009.
Court began at 1 p.m. today. First, jurors received instructions from the judge.
This is the list of charges the jury is asked to consider when deliberating on whether Daniel Ehrlick is guilty or not:
•1st degree murder in perpetuating a felony
•1st degree murder by torture
•2nd degree murder
•2nd degree murder by torture
•Aggravated battery
•Injury to child
•Failure to report a death (separate charge, not in that prior range of violent crimes)

Hi, Justice4All!
You are welcome! I have kept up with this case closely. I think the State did an excellent job of presenting their case.
This trial has lasted 7 weeks.
If I was on the jury I would find Ehlrick guilty (based on the evidence) of:
•1st degree murder in perpetuating a felony
•1st degree murder by torture
I learned so much more in the State's closing arguments that was not included in articles.
Ehlrick should be tortured, starved, beaten, abused and thrown in the New York Canal.
If the jury comes back early, I think it will be GUILTY! If they deliberate for several days, they will still find this animal guilty!
Poor little Robert! I for him and what he endured for many weeks prior to his horrific death. There was no one to protect him.

Yes! After about two hours of deliberations, Ehlrick has been found guilty of:
•1st degree murder by torture and commission of aggravated battery
•Failure to report a death to authorities
~~~~~~~
Special thanks to the jurors! Justice has been served in rendering a guilty verdict. Now . . . for the sentencing!
Daniel Ehlrick, Sr. could not even look at his son, Daniel, during trial to identify him when he testified for the State.
In an interview Thursday night via phone, he said he would never see his son again.
He said he will always remember Robert Manwill. He also thanked the State Prosecutors.
Ann, thanks so much for all the above videos, especially the next to last one. Daniel Sr. just broke my heart to listen to him. He said he would always remember Robert, and he could not look at his son when he was testifying and he never plans to ever speak to his son again. He was so pitiful.
So sentencing will be on Sept. 2nd, looking forward to seeing what the judge decides.
Hi, sitemama!
Regarding the videos, you are welcome. Very sad for Mr. Ehrlick, Sr. I've followed this case closely and read every article as this trial progressed.
I gathered that Mr. Ehrlick, Sr. loved Robert. Mr. Ehrlick is a Vietnam veteran by the way.
Ann, you are truly one of a kind. I remember what happened to you in chat during the trial, and I really hate that someone who does not even know you could get by with talking to you like that. I have been experiencing some similar comments too. But, us oldies on this site must just stick together, and after Casey's trial, I Think everything will get back to normal. I hope so any way. Always love reading your posts, and playing in the game room with you. Love ye, mama
Robert Manwill's aunt: 'We have closure and Robert has justice'
Trish Burrell, Robert Manwill's aunt, spoke with KTVB's Scott Evans following the verdict.
Trish Burrell: "It is very emotional, I am really glad Robert finally has justice. That is all that matters. Robert has justice now. These two years have been the hardest thing a family could ever go through. We lost a child. And then our family, we lost Melissa, we lost Aidan, we lost a whole piece of our family because of two people's stupid decisions. We have closure. Robert has justice. And God will take care of the rest of it."
Scott Evans: "You've lost so much, does this help at all? How does this help with the closure?"
Trish Burrell: "We have closure and Robert has justice. And God will take care of the rest of it."
Scott Evans: "What happens with Aidan now?"
Trish Burrell: "Aidan's gone. He was adopted out, out-of-state, he's gone."
Guilty verdict brings closure to community in Manwill's death
BOISE -- After 28 days in court, the jury in the Daniel Ehrlick murder trial took just a little over two hours to reach a guilty verdict on Thursday night.
For two years the community has followed and shed tears on behalf of 8-year-old Robert Manwill, the victim of Ehrlick's crime.
The word closure can be used almost too much in a situation like this, but that's really what this is providing for a lot of people, the chance to put this case to rest, and begin to move on.
BOISE -- The foreman of the jury that convicted Daniel Ehrlick of the first degree murder of 8-year-old Robert Manwill explains how they reached a verdict in just over two hours.
"I thought it was going to be easier than it was. It was an emotionally draining trial," jury foreman George Tway said.
He explained it was tough to hear some of the information and see some evidence, but said the result was justice.
"It was a very emotional experience. The little boy that's killed, and having to deal with that, and it was a brutal murder, and so it was difficult to hear all the facts and look at the pictures, but we needed to find justice," Tway said.
Julie, I followed Daniel Ehlrick's trial closely including the live tweets from the Court Room by a Boise, Idaho TV station reporter.
She would comment about how closely the jurors were paying attention and all were taking notes.
It has been reported by Boise media that the jurors had several tablets of notes.
They clearly followed the testimony closely and deliberated accordingly.
Hi, Piper!
Just now seeing your comment. Yes, I think Lost1Jazz did a beautiful job on the video. I wonder if Lost1Jazz is a family member or friend. Because of the pics of Robert it has to be someone close to the family.
We'll have to remember this song as a possibility to use for "future" videos you might make.
Melissa Jenkins sentenced to 25 years in prison, Daniel Ehrlick sentenced to life for the murder of Robert Manwill
BY Patrick Orr
Idaho Statesman - Boise, Idaho
Published: 09/02/11
Fourth District Judge Darla Williamson agreed to the 25-year fixed sentence Melissa Jenkins agreed to in a deal earlier this year when she pleaded guilty to aiding and abetting a second-degree murder in the death of her son, Robert Manwill.
Williamson said she didn't believe Jenkins' tears in the courtroom, or that she truly felt remorse for allowing her boyfriend, Daniel Ehrlick, to beat Robert over the course of weeks, and hiding the boy's bruises from family members and social workers. She said Jenkins' history — three children with different fathers, a previous conviction for child battery — indicated that if Jenkins were given the opportunity she could have another chlid and she could hurt it.
Fourth District Judge Darla Williamson agreed to the 25-year fixed sentence Melissa Jenkins agreed to in a deal earlier this year when she pleaded guilty to aiding and abetting a second-degree murder in the death of her son, Robert Manwill.
Williamson said she didn't believe Jenkins' tears in the courtroom, or that she truly felt remorse for allowing her boyfriend, Daniel Ehrlick, to beat Robert over the course of weeks, and hiding the boy's bruises from family members and social workers. She said Jenkins' history — three children with different fathers, a previous conviction for child battery — indicated that if Jenkins were given the opportunity she could have another chlid and she could hurt it.
Beasts behind bars.......no parole. Jenkins was just as responsible as Ehrlick. She would have done it again.
Thanks for the pictures and updates, Ann.
Melissa Jenkins tearfully apologizes during her sentencing
BOISE -- Before she was sentenced on Friday, Melissa Jenkins made a tearful apology directly to Robert Manwill's father for not protecting their son.
Jenkins was sentenced to 25 years in prison without parole for aiding and abetting second-degree murder for not doing something to stop the abuse of Robert, who died in July of 2009.
Jenkins sentence comes as part of a plea agreement. Prosecutors could ask for up to 25 years without the possibility of early release. They got what they asked for, but the judge said she deserved more punishment than the agreement allowed.
"You deserve the worst of punishments for what you allowed to happen to Robert," Judge Darla Williamson said. "Bottom line is I'd like to impose a greater sentence than 25, but I can't."
She deserves life w/o parole. It's a shame our system can't work around these plea deals or not allow them at all to administer proper punishment for the crime committed.
Hi, Piper!
Good to "see" you! You are so dedicated in advocacy for children and I've missed you.
I followed Robert's trial closely. I love Judge Darla! She saw through Melissa's fake "crying". Judge Darla hit the nail on the head when she implied that Melissa felt no remorse.
Too bad Judge D could not hand down a harsher sentence but she could not due to the plea agreement.
The good news is Melissa will have to serve her 25 years without parole!
State of Idaho missed the warning signs in Robert Manwill case
Health and Welfare says it followed all court orders and procedures in the weeks before Robert Manwill’s death, but the trial of his killer raised new questions about how it responded to red flags.
Since Robert Manwill’s murder in the summer of 2009, some of the biggest unanswered questions have asked how it could have happened under the scrutiny of the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare, and how the state could prevent such a crime from happening again.
The murder trial that convicted Daniel Ehrlick, the boyfriend of Robert’s mother Melissa Jenkins, revealed that the two adults covered up the systematic abuse Ehrlick submitted Robert to in the weeks before his death; they hid Robert from visiting social workers, including hiding him in a closet; and they lied about Robert being in the home. Jenkins pleaded guilty to aiding in the murder of her son.
Testimony and evidence from the trial revealed warning signs that state case workers failed to recognize or follow up on:
I followed this case as it unfolded and followed the trial closely.
The Boise, Idaho media did an exceptional job of covering the trial, including live tweets during testimony.
A very special thank you to the Boise media for bringing awareness to Robert Manwill's horrific abuse, torture and eventual murder.
I think of Robert often and one day I hope a friend and I can make an "In Memory" video for Robert.
Gone . . . but not forgotten! Rest in peace, precious Robert!
Child welfare report on Robert Manwill's death released
By Tina Jensen
KIVI - Boise, Idaho
CREATED Mar. 5, 2012
Robert Manwill
A 13-member independent panel convened to review the death of Robert Manwill has provided recommendations to improve Idaho child welfare practices.
Robert Manwill was an eight year old Treasure Valley youth who was brutally murdered by his mother’s boyfriend, Daniel Ehrlick, in July 2009. Department of Health and Welfare Director Richard Armstrong ordered an independent review shortly after the first degree murder conviction of Ehrlick on June 30th, 2011. The review panel’s primary objective was to evaluate the case and develop system recommendations to help protect and safeguard children in the future.
Oh Ann.. reading the last two comments by you is so painful. I didn't know Robert, but I knew a little boy and his name was Bobby.. He looked so much like Robert. His Mother didn't want him either but his Dad did.. even so he wasn't able to raise Bobby and he pretty much grew up with his aunt who was a friend of mine. I used to feel so bad for Bobby.. bur he survived with cousins for siblings and an aunt for a Mom with his Dad in the military. If only little Robert had had an aunt.. if ONLY his worthless Mother would have allowed Robert to have a life.
In the photos, Robert appears happy, healthy and well cared for. Makes me wonder when the love stopped and the torture began. I hope his suffering wasn't long.
Marica, the photos of Robert were taken when he lived with his bio dad.
The torture and abuse began when Robert went to stay with his mom and Daniel Ehrlick for the summer.
Snipped:
“In those entire 12 hours, never once did she say she was sorry,” Edmonds said.
Jenkins did complain that she didn’t have a photo of Robert, whom she called “Boo.”
“I play cards, and we walk. And when we have rec we can go outside and lay in the sun if we want to,” Jenkins said in one recording. “We can walk outside, we can play volleyball, which I do. We actually get homemade baked breads, rolls. The cakes are actually made fresh every day. It’s fun. I love it.”
