Tape Of Casey's Remains Reaction May Be Released - Hearing Scheduled For 3 p.m. Wednesday
Defense Wants Casey's Reaction To Remains Suppressed
Attorneys Claim Video, Statements Were A Jailhouse Setup

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Casey Anthony's defense team doesn't want a jury to hear about or see Anthony's reaction to news reports when her daughter's remains were found.
Anthony's lawyers filed new paperwork asking that any such evidence be suppressed when the murder trial begins in May.
Read New Filing
On Dec. 11, 2008, former meter reader Roy Kronk discovered remains off of Suburban Drive. The medical examiner did not positively identify the remains as Caylee Anthony's until Dec. 19.
At the time the remains were found, Anthony was in the Orange County Jail. She was indicted in October of that year in connection with her daughter's disappearance.
Anthony's attorneys contend that once the news broke that remains were discovered, authorities set up a situation at the jail to record and monitor her response to the news.
That day, Anthony was taken out of her cell and into the jail's medical area to watch the events unfold on television.
Defense attorneys claim that the Orange County Sheriff's Office made arrangements with the jail to place Anthony in a location monitored by cameras. Lawyers say Anthony was told she was being taken there for medical purposes, but in fact never received treatment.
Anthony attorney Jose Baez said that he arrived at the jail that day but was denied access to his client.

Well, first let me say that when you are the Property of the State (i.e., an inmate) there can be no expectation of privacy (other than priviledged attorny client stuff).
But secondly, I am not sure this will be allowed or that it needs to be presented.
If it is allowed, we will get bored to death by the battle of the witness experts explaining how subjective it is and in the long run it really is.
There are plenty of battles to come in this case that will mortally wound the defense's passive, no-real-plan-yet-and-what's-the-hurry-anyway posture. I don't think this is one of them. But that's just my take.

I was under the impression that KC had actually heard the news via radio, and wanted to view it.

Judge Previously Ordered Video Be Sealed

UPDATED: 1:48 pm EDT July 8, 2011
ORLANDO, Fla. -- Now that the verdict is in and Casey Anthony has been found not guilty of murdering or abusing her daughter, Caylee, a controversial videotape could surface.
On Dec. 11, 2008, after weeks of extensive searches, the Central Florida community watched media reports with bated breath as remains of a child were found off Suburban Drive in the area of the Anthony family home. The remains were found by a meter reader named Roy Kronk who had wandered into the woods to relieve himself. They had been under water for several weeks due to Tropical Storm Fay.
Casey Anthony, now 25, was in the Orange County Jail at the time and was brought to a nurse's station at the jail and seated where she could see breaking news coverage on TV about the discovery of a child's remains. A video camera documented her reaction, and since the trial is over, a motion has been filed with the court to release the tape. The case's original judge, Stan Strickland, had previously ordered that video be sealed.

As far as I know, the motion hasn't been ruled on and the tape hasn't been released. I can't think of any grounds for not releasing it now that the trial is over unless the court fears that it will further inflame the public and endanger Casey's safety.

The reason for the faulty verdict in Casey's murder trial was because so much evidence was surpressed because it was inflammatory.
How can we find justice when we hide evidence that points to guilt? Why would a judge ever rule to suppress evidence that proves guilt?
