Casey Attorney: Releasing Depo Would 'Inflame' Public Opinion

Deposition Nearly Made Public Tuesday

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Casey Anthony's civil attorney says if a video deposition of his client is released, it would only further inflame public opinion against her.

Anthony was deposed over the weekend by attorney John Morgan, who is representing Zenaida Gonzalez, the Kissimmee woman who claims her name was ruined when Anthony said a woman by the same name kidnapped her daughter.

Anthony's attorney, Charles Greene, argues in an objection that the video should be sealed.

Casey Anthony's civil attorney will be back in the courtroom for the second straight day Thursday afternoon.

This time, however, attorney Charles Greene is fighting to keep a video of her recent deposition from going public.

The deposition was taken Oct. 8 by the attorneys for Zenaida Gonzalez, who claimed her life was ruined when Casey said a woman by the same name kidnapped her daughter, Caylee.

Judge to decide Casey Anthony deposition issue within 10 days

Casey Anthony's Oct. 8 deposition was submitted with the court Thursday, but don't expect to immediately see or hear the heavily disguised woman avoiding a lawyer's tough questions.

The judge hearing the civil defamation case against Anthony will now decide if that question-and-answer session will become part of the public record. For now, it is sealed.

Circuit Judge Lisa T. Munyon said she will issue a written order within 10 days after hearing arguments in court Thursday for and against the open filing of the deposition.
