It will be up to the judge to formally sentence Hubers. That is set for June 2.  Life in prison is on the table.

Does the state have early release? Credit for time "served" while waiting in jail? "Good behavior" early release?
She is young ...and she is angry! Be interesting to see how the judge will sentence.

Parents, sisters, grandparents, aunts, uncles, friends: dozens filled the courtroom every day of the two-week trial, enduring hours of grueling and often graphic testimony

The 29-year-old attorney belonged to a large and prominent Northern Kentucky family: his father is Jay Poston, who worked for Sen. Jim Bunning and Gov. Brereton Jones. His stepfather is Peter Carter, a marketing executive at Procter & Gamble. His uncle is Jim Poston, the well-known Fort Mitchell lawyer.

In the hours after the verdict was delivered late Thursday night, several of them visited his grave at St. John Cemetery in Fort Mitchell to deliver the news.

Each of Ryan Poston's parents testified during the trial. One of his three sisters, Katie Carter, also spoke during the sentencing phase on Friday.

On Tuesday – just four days after her two-week trial concluded – Hubers' attorneys filed a motion in Campbell Circuit Court seeking a new trial.

Such requests are not uncommon and generally lay the groundwork for an appeal of the conviction...

...Mejia and Neugent say the court did not allow them to present evidence and call witnesses needed to establish that Hubers shot her boyfriend, Ryan Poston, in self-defense the night of Oct. 12, 2012...

...In the motion, Mejia and Neugent also object to prosecutors' use of handwritten notes taken from Hubers' jail cell by former inmate Holly Nivens, who turned them over to prosecutors and testified at the trial...

...The notes included a diagram Hubers drew of the dining room in Poston's Highland Heights condominium, where Hubers, then a 21-year-old graduate student, fatally shot her 29-year-old attorney boyfriend six times with his own handgun.

Hope the judge is truly fair and unbiased as to gender.
I shudder to think she would ever be released to brush shoulders with others.

Shayna Hubers: KY College Student Danced In Interrogation Room After Murder

...Police Chief Bill Birkenhauer said that after being left alone in the interrogation room, he saw her on a live camera feed dancing around, snapping her fingers, and muttering “I killed him, I killed him.”

“This was one of the strangest things, when she was doing that dancing, snapping her fingers and twirling around, almost as if she was proud of it,” Birkenhauer said.

We have seen this rather odd behavior before.
Most recently, the Jodi Arias trial... It gives me the shivers to see the "jubilant" attitude after killing someone.

I just finished watching the entire video at the link you posted. I liked being able to watch the story being told in chronological order with comments from the people who actually knew SH and Ryan.

...If Hubers is found to be a victim of domestic violence, her attorneys argue in court documents, under Kentucky law she won't be designated as a "violent offender." Her first parole hearing would then happen after serving only 20 percent of her sentence, instead of 85 percent.

A Northern Kentucky convicted murderer took the stand in a motion her attorney's filed in hopes of a light sentence.

NEWPORT – Shayna Hubers has a narcissistic personality, a damaged self-image and an "extreme difficulty with rejection," a psychologist testified Friday.

...In sentencing Hubers to 40 years in prison Friday, Campbell County Circuit Judge Fred A. Stine called the killing "as cold-blooded an act as I've seen" in his more than three decades in the legal system.

Stine, who presided over the two-week trial and multiple court hearings, added: "I never heard or word or saw a look (from you) that said, 'I'm sorry.' "

...In a key ruling earlier Friday, Stine found that Hubers and Poston were not an "unmarried couple" under Kentucky law. That meant Hubers could not be considered a victim of domestic violence or abuse – and will not be eligible for an early parole hearing.

^^^I just don't see how any new jury will see this case any differently. Cold blooded, jealous murder. I wonder if Shayna will conduct herself any differently after experiencing prison life?
