ITALIAN police found “not a single trace” of Amanda Knox’s DNA in the bedroom where British student Meredith Kercher was found murdered, her retrial heard yesterday.

Forensic officers found only samples from the African man convicted of the stabbing, the appeal against Knox’s acquittal was told.

Giulia Bongiorno, defence lawyer for Knox’s ex-boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito, said the couple could not have killed Meredith, 21, without leaving large amounts of DNA. She told the Florence hearing that police found a tiny trace of her client’s DNA, on the murdered woman’s bra, and none of Knox’s.

Amanda Knox’s retrial took a bizarre turn Friday as an ex-gangster testified that a séance told her the murder weapon used to kill British exchange student Meredith Kercher in 2007 is still buried in a garden in Perugia, Italy, near the scene of the alleged slaying.

Convicted gangster Lucia (formerly Luciano) Aviello, who is undergoing gender reassignment therapy, testified Friday that her brother, Antonio Aviello, killed Kercher.

Aviello first testified about her brother being the real murderer during Knox’s first appeal in June 2011. She also claims her brother, who was a fugitive from the law, is now dead.

During Knox’s retrial in 2011, a former cellmate of Aviello testified that Sollecito’s attorney paid Aviello €158,000 for his testimony, which he used for gender reassignment surgery. Aviello denied the accusations that he was paid to testify.

Amanda Knox slammed for soliciting funds in victim's memory

FLORENCE, Italy (AP) — A lawyer urged an Italian appeals court on Monday to convict Amanda Knox of murdering British student Meredith Kercher and denounced as "unbearable" that the American was soliciting donations in Kercher's memory.

Francesco Maresca, in his closing arguments on behalf of the Kercher family in the third trial of Knox and co-defendant Raffaele Sollecito, urged the eight lay jurors on the panel of 10 to disregard publicity over the case as well as Knox's own statements, including her criticism of Italy's judicial system.

"She has become a well-known person. You know she signed contracts for millions of dollars for her book. She has someone who takes care of her public relations. She has a personal website where she invites people to collect donations in the memory of the victim, Meredith Kercher, which is an unbearable contradiction for the family," Maresca said.

He said the world's attention has focused on Knox, while "the victim has fallen into oblivion, to the immense pain of the Kercher family."

Meredith Kercher murder suspect Rafaelle Sollecito begged co-accused Amanda Knox to wed him in a bid to stay in the US and avoid facing justice in Italy, it has been claimed.

But when she refused because she was already involved in a relationship, the 29-year-old turned his attentions to another woman, hoping he could get the American citizenship that would stop him being extradited for a retrial in Florence.

And he launched an angry tirade against Knox, 26, claiming she owed him because he refused to help police build a case against her in exchange for his freedom. The Italian met single mum Kelsey Kay after Knox turned down his wedding proposal.

FLORENCE, Italy (AP) — An appeals court in Florence began deliberations Thursday in the third murder trial of U.S. student Amanda Knox and her former boyfriend as the star defendant waited far away on a separate continent.

Knox's defense team gave their last round of rebuttals, ending four months of arguments in Knox's and Italian Raffaele Sollecito's third trial for the 2007 murder of her British roommate in the Italian university town of Perugia.

Knox's lawyer Carlo Dalla Vedova told the court he was "serene" about the verdict because he believes the only conclusion from the files is "the innocence of Amanda Knox."

"I did not expect this to happen. I really expected so much better from the Italian justice system," she said. "They found me innocent before. How can they say that it's guilt beyond a reasonable doubt?"

(CNN) -- The ex-boyfriend of American exchange student Amanda Knox says he has returned to Italy to fight his new murder conviction in the death of Knox's onetime roommate, Meredith Kercher.

In a CNN interview Monday evening, Raffaele Sollecito said he and his current girlfriend were in neighboring Austria, preparing to celebrate what he had expected to be his exoneration by an Italian court. Instead, that court found Knox and Sollecito guilty for a second time last week, sentencing him to 25 years.

Knox, who returned to the United States after her 2009 conviction was overturned, said last week that she "will never go willingly" back to Italy. But Sollecito said he came back "as soon as I understood the verdict."

Amanda Knox has been trying to live a semblance of a normal life in Seattle since being released from prison. The 27-year-old is currently employed at a bookstore and is writing for the West Seattle Herald. Moreover, Knox has become engaged to Colin Sutherland. Sutherland, 27, is said to have known Cox since they were in middle school and has reportedly written numerous letters to her while she was incarcerated in Italy.

The news of Knox's engagement was first reported in Seattle Times, and columnist Jonathan Martin wrote that Knox confirmed the engagement via email. No date has been set for the wedding.

The appeal hearing, scheduled on March 25 in Italy, could result in Knox's acquittal. Many of her supporters fear that Knox and Sollecito could be sent back for another trial. Knox has repeatedly said that she has no intentions of voluntarily returning to Italy. If she is convicted again, Italy is likely to request to extradite her, but Sutherland speculates that members of Washington's congressional delegation will make it into a political fight.

Rudy Guede calls for retrial after Amanda Knox acquitted of Meredith Kercher murder

The only person in jail for the murder of Briton Meredith Kercher has said he wants a retrial following the acquittal of Amanda Knox.

During a special parliamentary visit to review conditions in the Viterbo prison on Tuesday morning, Ivory Coast national Rudy Guede told Italian senator Andrea Augello he wants the case to be reviewed in light of the high court decision acquitting Ms Knox and Raffaele Sollecito.

“I am the impossibly convicted one,” Guede, 28, told New Center-Right Senator Augello. “I’m accomplice to a crime for which no one else has been found guilty. I’m the only one convicted, but the judges will be convinced that I certainly can’t be an accomplice to myself.”

There are those that will hound Amanda and Raffaele forever, even if it means allowing a further reduction in Guede's sentence; or perhaps they will be happy to see him released with time served.  And what--accept another mere apology when he does it again?

I realize that many will scoff at the first link below, but everything there is well sourced and worth the time to review.

It's not hard to see what is going on here, imo.

Such sloppy investigative collecting and testing of evidence, failure to secure a crime scene, failure to properly depose witnesses, etc., has made a terrible miscarriage of justice. I am appalled a modern nation was so careless. Personally, I do believe she was involved. Somewhat. Some way. But was it murder or covering evidence or conspiracy? Dunno and we never will do the the nature of the investigative work up that was or was not done.

The case disgusts me.

Like Jodi Arias and her proclamations of being a "survivor" and "saving the world of abusers, " Amanda Knox has stated she wants to assist those wrongly accused. (If there has not been a trial, who is Knox to determine who has been "wrongly" accused?) Like JA, Knox has performed some interesting body maneuvers while in custody.... that is rather alarming, IMO. She is weird, IMO. And where there is smoke there is often fire.

...According to the court document, the main basis for the acquittal was that the police and prosecutors were responsible for "stunning weakness" and "investigative bouts of amnesia."

It also called to task the lack of biological evidence linking Knox or Sollecito to the scene of the crime. As such, they should not have been held responsible for the killing.

"There was no shortage of glaring errors in the underlying fabric of the sentence in question," the court document read.

The court also found issue with the alleged murder weapon, which was a kitchen knife that was found in Sollecito's house contained in a cardboard box, and a bra clasp which was said to have carried DNA evidence but was left on the floor for 46 days.

Awwww, Freckles.  

Guede will be up for parole soon, and if he were to change his story back to the original version the parole board would not look favorably on him.

Did you see the following article?  He wrote on the walls with his finger dipped in Meredith's blood.  I didn't know that.

They had a video up of the interview with him actually saying it, and more.  She was alive at the time and making sounds, which he obliges by reproducing.  (Gee, I wonder why they took the video down.)

He was originally sentenced to 30 years but had his sentence reduced for stating Amanda and Raffaele were present.  His statement was considered a "mitigating circumstance."

Let's do a review of the evidence against Guede.  He will only have to serve about two thirds of that 16 years, so he will be out soon.
