Freckles, I think you are mistaken. I think you need to go back and check on this before mentioning any more. Chris Hughes and his wife were Travis' best friends, were in court, and did a wonderful radio show during the initial trial. I believe that the person you are thinking of who vandalized something in a National Park was AN ENTIRELY DIFFERENT GUY WHO WAS A WITNESS DURING THE TRIAL.

I have not seen JVM on TV in awhile. The show used to be on at 7 PM here and now it's 'Forensic Files', followed by Nancy Grace. Has JVM gone off the air?
I can't stand the tabloid format, constant commercials every other minute and guests screaming at the same time, but sometimes I would watch a few minutes just to catch up...

I am so angry along with everyone else about this witness being allowed to testify incognito. I am glad the press is taking this to a higher court...
At this point I am putting all my faith and hope in Juan Martinez. He surely has a plan. I know he is doing the very best he can for justice and the Alexander family.

What happened Thursday in the Jodi Arias sentencing retrial is anyone's guess. The Arizona Republic, 12 News and other media outlets filed a special-action appeal with the Arizona Court of Appeals late Thursday seeking to solve the mystery.

...The media outlets later filed a special action, which is an expedited appeal, demanding a transcript of the proceeding and the identity of the witness.

"It's very peculiar," Moeser said after the hearing. "Since I've been an attorney, I'm not aware of a court being closed for testimony by an unidentified witness."

Federal and state law both call for criminal trials to be conducted in public.

Alyce LaViolette? Could be. Could also be Patricia Womack, the woman who refused to testify on JA's behalf at last penalty trial because of death threats.

Cheryl Karps? Her name came up before and she testified in the main trial.
She tested JA and came to certain conclusions but they were based upon proven lies spun by JA.
Lies of the "Ninja invaders" attacking Travis....
Juan has her under control, IMO.

Alyce LaViolette (sp that) ? She was the defense witness standing for JA and believing JA all the way.
She testified, in her opinion, Travis HAD been abused and molested as a child....based upon his childhood undies!
She had a book on Amazon that tanked; she had seminars canceled, etc..
That was, of course, after she had tried to tell off Juan by telling him, "If you were a client of mine I would have you (stand in the corner?) "
Rather chatty and unprofessional "know it all" and "my way or no way" mentality.
She rec death threats after she testified.
Paid hugely for her statements.

Patty was the female JA attended the wedding of between the killing of Travis in June and JA's apprehension in July in CA.
Patty re JA as her best friend.
Patty showed in court with tats and blouses slipping off the shoulder.
Patty was nervous and feared Juan... then again, who amongst us would not fear this man? He plies his craft as a mighty sword and we like that!

Does anyone else follow the Justice for Travis page on Facebook? They have posted that the secret witness was the murderer herself. I don't know where they got the info from. But I think it was posted last night or this morning.

Well, IF Jodi was the secret witness, I can't say I am surprised. What a complete psycho she is. Juan had no trouble exposing her (no pun intended!) before, and I don't think he will now. I can't imagine why she is suddenly media shy. Honestly, I think she is such a consummate manipulator that she feels she has 'won' or 'bested' the judge, Juan, the system, etc., when she gets her way and can 'force' the court to dance to her tune.

If I were a jury member, I would wonder why Jodi was the only witness testifying for Jodi---A DP case and it SEEMS no one is coming forward to speak for her in mitigation. That can't be lost on the jurors---I HOPE.
I am sure whatever Jodi said/is saying as the 'secret witness' is all about how she was abused by everyone.
As I mentioned before, my hope is that Juan will set these jurors straight on the facts in his closing statement.

I would like to know how certain people seem to have found out that Jodi was the mystery witness, and if so, how. I still have my doubts. It seems more likely that it is someone afraid of the 'hate component' if the public finds out who they are.

Juan made her look like a liar and a complete boob. No help for Jodi there.

I didn't think a CONVICTED murderess would be allowed in court in 'street clothes' or make up frankly, but Jodi has both. It is totally outrageous, and a slap in the face to the Alexander family if you ask me. I think if she gets the DP all the make up will go bye bye, but I THINK if she  is in jail for life, she can still have make up, color her hair etc.!! To me, that is so awful. If you commit such a heinous crime and are in prison for life, why are you given ANY perks or privileges??!!

I agree the people of Arizona need to LOUDLY request that this judge account for all of these crazy rulings-and this is the craziest-it is a sentencing hearing for Pete's sake-not a conviction hearing! And they are just pulling this crap to take away from the victim impact statements and this idiot judge is letting that happen. She needs to be removed and never be a judge or practice law anywhere ever again. She is making a mockery of this court and it needs to stop-right now. Sentence her and let the Alexanders have some sort of peace-they are who the judge needs to consider-not the inmate.

Judge made the right decision. Before you decide to kill me, listen. If the public was allowed in the courtroom they would record the proceedings. It would be posted on FB/twitter and in the newspaper with opinions attached. The defense would take it to appeal saying the hearings were posted everywhere and the jury would have seen it, making it a mistrial and then another trial. Let's keep it like it is. In due time we will know the outcome.

Okay, the media won one for the public and a stay was granted but Judge Stephens in her wisdom has sent the jury home until Wednesday. I'm wondering if she will grant a mistrial motion from the defense about this ruling. This is such a circus.

PHOENIX (KSAZ) - Just a few days after Judge Sherry Stephens kicked out the media and the public from the Jodi Arias sentencing retrial, a state appeals court overruled her and opened the courtroom doors once again.

That decision came down this afternoon after a dramatic legal battle Monday morning before a three judge panle.

The judge booted the media and the public out of the Jodi Arias sentencing retrial last Thursday without explanation, leaving a mystery witness on the stand in a trial shrouded in secrecy.

To hear the attorney representing the media tell the three judge appeals panel, holding a trial out of public view behind closed doors and shrouded in secrecy is something that hasn't been a part of the anglo-American legal tradition since, well since the days of the Norman Conquest of England, and that was way back in 1066, nearly 1,000 years ago.

His message to the three judge appeals panel, let folks back in, and journalists too, to see what is going on.

But Jodi Arias's attorney countered he needs a private trial, he can't get his witnesses to testify because they fear for their reputations, livelihoods, even their lives if they defend Jodi in public court.

"We have just heard the risk of being kept in perpetual confusion, and darkness looms in this case unless the court steps in and enforces the first amendment rights of the press and public," said David Bodney, the attorney for the media.

"All mitigation witnesses; to the point where no viable case can be put forward, were threatened to the point they would not come forward and testify, and all defense witnesses were threatened," said Kirk Nurmi.

The courtroom opened up this afternoonb ut ended soon after that.

Court is back in session Tuesday afternoon for a hearing and the media and public will be able to attend in person.

Well guys,
one victory or at least step in the right direction. FINALLY someone has put the brakes on JSS after countless bewildering and seemingly unfair decisions this judge has made throughout the long Jodi Arias saga---At least on this one issue. I confess, I too felt that this whole secrecy thing was just wrong wrong wrong and highly irregular. Who is JA that among all the murderers in this country she gets to call the shots, have her hissy fits, and REQUIRE secrecy and a cleared courtroom???
Like most of you I have hated the way JSS bent over backwards for Jodi, her defense team, and in the name of fair trial. I felt it went way beyond that. I have said it a thousand times and I'll say it again; When you allow someone to trash the VICTIM'S reputation and make accusations that are patently and completely false and then hamstring the prosecution as to what THEY are allowed to present, THAT IS NOT A FAIR TRIAL. That is just ALLOWING the defendant to use any nefarious, immoral, and dishonest means possible in order to save their own skin---And of course all done with more needless pain and anguish for the Alexander family!

I could well understand the outrage that so many felt at this trial spinning out of control and riddled with secrecy. It is a travesty. Jodi should have been brought in each day from the very beginning in CONVICT CLOTHING, and it should have been reinforced in the juror's minds WHY THEY WERE THERE---that their ONLY job was to decide the fate of an evil, manipulative, soulless killer who had already been duly convicted of first degree premeditated murder with cruelty, and one who had been deemed completely sane.

I applaud the decision of this panel of appeal judges, and hope that JSS will re-think how she conducts these proceedings from here on out...but I doubt she will.

Hi 18th...no trial today; the jury is due back in court on Wednesday at 10 a.m. iirc.

Today at 1:30 MST there will be the hearing on the stay judgement reached yesterday. JSS said yesterday that there was a difference in opinion as to what the order stated (most likely Nurmi objecting) and the attorneys must convene today to "discuss". Why they couldn't do that first thing this morning and then still proceed today with an afternoon session, we will never know.
