Dawna Natzke -- Found Deceased 12/31/2011
Valhall of The Hinky Meter spent many hours covering this case. Many folks at The Hinky Meter researched and found info about the strange things surrounding this case.
Finally, after almost 2 years, an arrest warrant for Kevin Duck in the first degree murder of Dawna Natzke has been issued per media reports.
Special thanks to Freckles for the post about the warrant and Alessandra for her post also. Both are posted on Developing Stories.
I am starting this thread in Awaiting Trial even though Kevin Duck has not been arrested yet.
I am going to post Freckles and Alessndra's post from Developing Stories on this thread.
Please post all articles and info pertaining to Dawna Natzke or Kevin Duck on this thread. Many thanks!
Hopefully, there will be justice for Dawna eventually!

Boyfriend charged in homicide of Lake Central grad
hours ago • Times Staff and Wire Reports
HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE, Ark. | The boyfriend of a one-time area woman who was killed nearly two years ago was charged in the homicide.
Garland County Prosecutor Steve Oliver said Monday that Kevin Duck is charged with first-degree murder in the December 2011 death of Lake Central High School graduate Dawna Natzke, 46, of Hot Springs Village, Ark.
~Snipped~
Natzke, whose maiden name was Smith, had worked at the police station seven years. At age 35, she donated a kidney to her father, prolonging his life by 10 years, according to the preacher at her funeral. Friends said she built her life around her sons: two who played football at Jessieville High School at the time of her death and an older son who lived nearly.
~Snipped~
The cause of her death has not been released, but Oliver said it appeared Natzke died within three to four hours of leaving the party with Duck.

Thank you, Ladies! I think of Dawna and her three boys on a regular basis. I wonder how her girlfriend is doing.
IIRC, wasn't Duck ordered not to leave Hot Springs?
Also, a $250,000 bond? One would think he'd be held over considering he's charged with 1st degree murder.
I really thought we'd heard the last of this case long ago. I'm hopeful Dawna's loved ones will receive justice.
Thanks again!

Judge to review murder trial date in dispatcher's death
By Jeannie Roberts
This article was published today at 2:13 a.m.
The trial of a man accused of killing a Hot Springs Village police dispatcher has been postponed until July 7, but that date is up for review at a hearing set for Monday.
Kevin Duck is charged in the 2011 death of his girlfriend, Dawna Natzke. Duck was scheduled to go to trial Feb. 9, but the case was continued to give the defense time to analyze an FBI report showing the triangulation of cellphone calls.
The report was not released to the defense until the first week of February, even though the prosecution has had it for about a year. An FBI analyst did not have time to review the data any sooner because of work overload, the prosecution said.
In February, 18th Judicial Circuit Judge John Homer Wright denied the defense's motion to exclude FBI Special Agent William Shute from testifying about the report and the cellphone call locations. Instead, Wright granted a defense motion for the state to pay for an expert witness to dispute the FBI report and postponed the trial date.

The trial of Kevin Duck, who is accused of killing a Hot Springs Village police dispatcher, has been moved to June.
Duck is charged in the 2011 death of his girlfriend, Dawna Natzke. He was scheduled for trial Feb. 9, but the defense was granted more time to find an expert witness to analyze an FBI report showing the triangulation of cellphone calls.
On Tuesday, 18th Judicial Circuit Judge John Homer Wright set the pretrial hearing for June 1 and the trial for June 2 through June 5.
Natzke, 46, was last seen alive with Duck at a Dec. 21, 2011, Christmas party in Hot Springs Village.
Her burned car was found at 11 a.m. Dec. 22 by a U.S. Forest Service employee on Harley Lane, off Arkansas 298, outside Hot Springs Village. Triangulation records show that a call that originated six-tenths of a mile from where Natzke's car was found was made at 9:02 a.m. Dec. 22 from Duck's phone, authorities have said.
An autopsy performed after volunteer searchers found Natzke's body 10 days after her disappearance showed that she died from drowning and blunt-force trauma. ...."

I was just reading through this case thread. I think I will follow along when this goes to trial in June. As I was reading this particular post it occurred to me that it seems strange how some of these "young" murderers don't seem to understand the role that technology can play in convicting them of their crimes. It does not seem to occur to them that their phone calls/texts/tower pings leave a lot of useful evidence behind. These convicted or alleged murderers were all 30 or younger and grew up with modern technology. It is surprising that they each make this same mistake with their phones as if they have never watched an episode of CSI, read a news report, etc. For example:
Scott Petersen: cell phone trail that took him to and from the disposal of Laci's body and destroyed his alibi. Phone evidence that exposed his affair and supplied a motive.
Casey Anthony: lots of calls/texts that cast doubt on her innocence and concern for Caylee.
Jodi Arias: smart enough to know that she should take her phone off the grid...but too impatient to leave the battery out and wait until she was all the way out of Arizona before beginning to create her alibi.
Aaron Hernandez and murderous crew: dumb, just dumb. This crew left a detailed play-by-play for law enforcement on their collective phones. What were they thinking? Did AH really think that deleting texts on his phone would make the texts on OL's phone go away, etc?
And now this alleged murderer, Kevin Duck: cell phone records put him about half mile away from body and then later a half mile from burned out car.

I did not grow up with all this tech stuff and I have yet to make the jump. It amazes me, as well, the younger folk are so accustomed to their techie stuff they forget it is recording its locations, messages are saved, etc.. Totally amazes me how they overlook the most obvious.

Man accused of killing Arkansas police dispatcher told investigator victim was pregnant, ex-officer says
Suspect quoted at trial in slaying
"...HOT SPRINGS -- The man accused of killing a Hot Springs Village police dispatcher told an investigator the victim was pregnant at the time of her death.
Former Hot Springs Village Police Department officer Tom Hickox testified Wednesday -- the second day of the first-degree murder trial of Kevin Duck, 33, who is accused of killing his girlfriend Dawna Natzke in 2011 -- that Duck told him during a voluntary interview that anytime he brought up aborting the pregnancy to Natzke, "she got mad at him."
Garland County deputy prosecutor Joe Graham did not ask Hickox anything further about the pregnancy, and defense lawyer T. Clay Janske did not bring it up under cross-examination.
No mention of the pregnancy was made Tuesday when multiple witnesses, including many close friends and family members of Natzke's, testified that Natzke was smoking and drinking at the party she and Duck attended Dec. 21, 2011, in Hot Springs Village. ..."
"... One of Natzke's sons leaned forward and buried his head in his hands as a relative comforted him. Natzke's other sons had left the courtroom before Kokes' appearance.
Kokes testified that Natzke's blood-alcohol level was 0.07 percent and that no illicit drugs were found in her system. Her body, he said, was covered in deep bruising and her brain had a subdural hemorrhage from a "life-threatening" blow to the head.
Natzke's lungs were full of pond water, indicating she was alive at the time she was put into the pond.
Kokes estimated that Natzke died no more than five to six hours after leaving the party Dec. 21, because not enough time had passed for the alcohol to be eliminated from her body...."
