If Mikal really did sing the song as MDLR passed by her group of trial watchers then I think she deserves what she got. I doubt that her intentions were racist but I do believe she was purposeful in singing the song to torment MDLR and make clear that "her group" does not like MDLR. I think this type of conduct has no place in legal proceedings and I actually have to side with the DT on this one.

I have also read that several from her group have tried to play-it-off as a simple misunderstanding on the part of MDLR. The claim is that the small group of trial watchers just happened to be discussing having Mexican food for lunch and Mikal just happened to break out her rendition of the cockroach song as MDLR walked past. Nice try, but I'm not buying that this is a coincidence. Perhaps, Mikal will conduct herself more appropriately at the next trial she follows.

Btw, one of the trial groupies got suspended from the court room for applauding when Juan Martinez began his cross examination this morning.

(Still completely inappropriate in a court of law. Instructions are given that forbid any types of display such as this. Seriously, does she want to give the DT something else to use as grounds for a mistrial, etc. DT could easily claim that the jury might have seen Mikal's action. Duh!!! Who's side is she on? I would agree re Mikal and others. The integrity of the court should be preserved. Even if/when there are attorneys or other persons who would choose to diminish the court's reputation and authority. (But it IS kind of funny to watch as an outsider! )

No worries. I think I kept up with most of the "action". My pc lost the twitter feed that I was following twice. Must just not be a good day for computers.

As per Mikal, it seems that she (and her group too?) may have gotten a bit too comfortable over the months and regressed to high school behaviors. The clapping incident in the courtroom today does not amuse me in any way; however, the cha cha cockroach song is inappropriate but rather amusing as an outsider. It's kind of like being in high school watching a kid do something really stupid that you know he/she will get in trouble for...but, it's hard not to laugh anyway.

Threats, hate mail led to secret Jodi Arias testimony (Video)

PHOENIX — Jodi Arias made her pleas to testify behind closed doors at her death-sentencing retrial in large part because she had received threats and hate mail that her lawyers feared came from people who attended the trial as spectators, newly released documents show.

According to a transcript of bench-conference conversations and an in-chambers hearing that was unsealed Thursday, Arias told Maricopa County Superior Court Judge Sherry Stephens that she thought she was at risk, even though she is in custody.

"A lot of crazy people come to the jail and try to visit me," Arias told the court, "and some of the threats are of the nature very specific as far as different things that I — if you say this, then this; and if you say that, then that."

Arias went on to say that she had heard one of the threats was so specific that a friend of her victim wanted to shoot her between the eyes.

They also discussed an apparently disturbed person who had gone to several jails and The Arizona Republic claiming he was Arias' attorney and demanding to see her. The Republic informed Arias' attorneys of the attempt, as did others.

PHOENIX (KSAZ) -
In the Jodi Arias sentencing retrial, it was a day of a withering cross-examination for a key witness.

Prosecutor Juan Martinez tore into the credentials and judgement of expert witness Dr. Robert Geffner.

Dr. Geffner is important because his testimony puts Arias' murderous behavior in context as jurors try to decide whether she should be put to death or get life in prison.

So it fell onto Prosecutor Martinez to discredit Geffner, and he came out swinging.

Dr. Robert Geffner, who spoke eloquently and at length while under friendly questioning yesterday by Arias' attorney fumbled and bumbled as he fenced with Prosecutor Martinez.
