HOWELL — Members of a Howell church embraced a baby girl found dead at a recycling plant in Farmingdale as one of their own before bidding her farewell with a funeral and burial Saturday afternoon.
As members of the Ardena Baptist Church paid their last respects to the baby they named Emma Grace, they struggled to make sense of the situation that led to her death last November, most likely hours after her birth.
"Her life is in glory...but yet here in our lives we weep, we (have) sorrow. We have sympathy for those lives that are needlessly taken," Rev. Tom Detamore, church pastor, told the congregation. "It's hard to imagine what would cause one to do such a thing."
The newborn's decapitated body was found on Nov. 11 at the ReCommunity Recycling facility in Farmingdale by an employee moving trash. Investigators later found her head, two bloody shirts and a bag from a retail store in Orange.

Never had a chance in life... a few breaths and that was it.
What is our society coming to?
This baby did no one harm.
She should have had protectors and there were none.
