CONCORD, N.H. -- A jury has been seated in the trial of a Vermont man charged with raping a 15-year-old freshman two days before he graduated from a prestigious New Hampshire prep school.

Nineteen-year-old Tunbridge, Vermont, resident Owen Labrie has pleaded not guilty to multiple felony charges, including forcible rape.

Prosecutors say Labrie raped the girl in a building on the Concord campus of St. Paul's School on May 30, 2014.

When Labrie was interviewed by Concord detectives, he talked openly about a tradition at the school known as "Senior Salute" in which boys about to graduate attempt to "score" with younger female students. Labrie is an aspiring divinity student who graduated June 1, 2014.

Testimony is expected to begin Tuesday in superior court in Concord.

St. Paul's School boasts a glittering roster of alumni that includes senators, congressmen, a Nobel laureate and the current secretary of state.

When his trial begins Monday, prosecutors are expected to call current and former students to testify about the sexual culture at one of the country's most selective boarding schools.

Sordid sexual tradition alleged at elite prep school

CONCORD, N.H. -- St. Paul's School boasts a glittering roster of alumni that includes senators, congressmen, a Nobel laureate and the current secretary of state. The elite prep school also allegedly has a sordid tradition of sexual conquest in which boys about to graduate attempt to "score" with younger female students.

Details of a practice authorities say was called the "Senior Salute" were spelled out in stark terms by a former prefect at the New Hampshire school who is charged with raping a 15-year-old girl on the roof of a campus building in May 2014.

Owen Labrie Trial - Jury Selected In New Hampshire Prep School Rape Case - 8/17/2015 Owen-labrie

Owen Labrie, now 19, has pleaded not guilty to several felonies. During his trial, prosecutors are expected to call current and former students to testify about the alleged sexual culture at one of the country's most selective boarding schools.

A jury was seated Monday, and testimony is expected to begin Tuesday in superior court in Concord.

Prosecutors say Labrie took his victim by surprise, before she could resist or flee, and raped her repeatedly. He is charged with three counts of aggravated felony sex assault, endangering the welfare of a child and using a computer to lure the girl to the on-campus meeting.

Labrie denied having intercourse with the girl, telling police that they partially disrobed, kissed and touched. He also acknowledged putting on a condom. Labrie said the freshman girl was eager to have sex, but the aspiring divinity student said he had a "moment of self-restraint" and stopped.

"He stated it was a moment of 'divine inspiration,'" Det. Julie Curtin wrote in her affidavit.

Owen Labrie, now 19, has pleaded not guilty to several felonies. When his trial begins Monday, prosecutors are expected to call current and former students to testify about the sexual culture at one of the country's most selective boarding schools.

Labrie, of Tunbridge, Vt., talked openly about the tradition when he was interviewed by Concord police. On a campus where upperclassmen studiously avoid their younger peers in most settings, Labrie told a detective some students "take great pride" in having sex with younger students before they leave school.

Labrie also told the detective of a contest where boys compete to "score" with the most girls, keeping a running tally written in indelible marker on a wall behind washing machines. The school kept painting over the scoreboard so it eventually was moved online. He acknowledged to the investigator that he was "trying to be number one," the detective wrote.

A counselor who contacted police after hearing from the alleged victim's mother also told an investigator about the tradition, the Concord Monitor reported last year, citing a police affidavit. The same affidavit said the school had been trying to educate students against "sexual scoring."

Opening statements begin in St. Paul's student rape case

CONCORD, N.H. - Both prosecutors and defense lawyers in the rape trial of a recent New Hampshire prep school graduate say the accuser's credibility will be the most vital aspect of the case.

During opening statements Tuesday, the prosecutor told jurors that 19-year-old Owen Labrie raped a 15-year-old freshman as part of the "Senior Salute," a practice of sexual conquest at the prestigious St. Paul's School in Concord.

Labrie's lawyer says his client will testify that he had consensual sexual contact with the girl two days before he graduated last year. But, the lawyer says, it wasn't intercourse.

Accuser testifies in prep school rape trial (Video)

Owen Labrie accused of assaulting girl

UPDATED 6:17 PM EDT Aug 18, 2015

CONCORD, N.H. —Prosecutors and defense lawyers in the trial of an elite prep school graduate charged with raping a freshman girl as part of a campus practice of sexual conquest told jurors on Tuesday that the case hinges on the credibility of the accuser.

~Snipped~

On the witness stand Tuesday, the accuser broke down crying and pointed at Labrie when asked if he was in the courtroom. The petite student, her ash blonde hair pulled back from her forehead, told jurors the two weren't friends and he was a classmate of her older sister.

She said she thought his invitation to a Senior Salute, when seniors seek out young students as sexual conquests, was "disgusting" because it was written so sappily.

"I thought his intentions were really wrong," she said, but she reconsidered when a male friend persuaded her.

The teen said Senior Salute was well known on campus but she didn't think it involved any special expectations.

Defense lawyer J.W. Carney said Labrie will testify he had consensual sexual contact with the girl two days before he graduated last year, but they did not have intercourse. Carney told jurors that email and Facebook exchanges between the two will show the girl met Labrie, who was 18 at the time, willingly and bantered with him after their encounter.

CONCORD, N.H. (AP) — A teenage girl who accused a senior at an elite New Hampshire prep school of raping her last year told jurors Wednesday that she felt "frozen" when he became aggressive.

The accuser testified that Owen Labrie, of Tunbridge, Vermont, bit her breast and tried to pull her underwear off in a building at St. Paul's School two days before his graduation in 2014. On the witness stand, the girl said she was in pain when he bit her and during intercourse but said nothing to Labrie, who was 18 at the time. She was a 15-year-old freshman.

"I'm thinking how naive of myself, and I never should have left my room that night," she testified. "I felt like I was out of my body. ... I didn't want to believe this was happening to me."

~Snipped~

Defense attorney J.W. Carney told jurors Tuesday that emails between the two suggest the girl was a willing participant.

Carney, who minimized the Senior Salute element, read to jurors from a string of emails between the two before and immediately after they got together the night of May 30, 2014. In them, the freshman agreed to meet Labrie, saying "only if it's our little secret."

Prosecution, defense present differing accounts as rape trial of St. Paul’s grad Owen Labrie gets under way

"This is the face of Owen Labrie that you’re going to see over the next few days,” Ruffle said in an opening statement, thrusting a finger at the clean-cut, bespectacled 19-year-old, who went on trial Tuesday, accused of raping an underclassman last year. “It’s probably not the face of an individual you think of when you think of sexual assault. But when you see and hear the evidence that the state presents, we believe that you’re going to see a different side of the defendant.”

Labrie, of Tunbridge, Vt., is charged with sexually assaulting the then-freshman girl in a restricted area on campus two days before his graduation. Prosecutors claim Labrie was competing with friends to have sex with younger students, part of an underground ritual at the school called the “senior salute.” The girl claims the encounter began agreeably, but that she told Labrie to stop when it escalated toward sex, going so far as to hold her underwear on as he tried to pull it down.

“She was a 15-year-old girl without sexual experience,” Ruffle said. “She tried to say no. She tried to use her physical conduct to indicate to him that this was not consensual.”

~Snipped~

“She wanted to have sex with him,” said Jay Carney, the famed Boston attorney now representing Labrie. It was Labrie, not the girl, who ended the rendezvous prematurely, he said.

“The evidence will show that Owen’s boxers never came off,” Carney told the jury of 11 men and three women. “That (the girl’s) bra never came off. That (her) underwear never came off.”

Accuser in New England prep school rape trial says was 'violated'

Reuters
By Ted Siefer

CONCORD, N.H. (Reuters) - A former student at an elite New Hampshire boarding school on Wednesday described being sexually "violated" by a popular senior and testified she initially remained friendly with him to avoid making a scene during graduation weekend.

The trial of Owen Labrie, 19, who has been charged with multiple counts of rape stemming from the May 2014 encounter at St. Paul's School in Concord, saw its first full day of testimony on Wednesday.

~Snipped~

"I thought I might get to see a cool place, and maybe we'll kiss, but that's all," said the teen, who is now 16. Afterward, she added, "I felt gross, I felt violated."

Labrie brought the girl to the roof of a remote building and then to a mechanical room below, where he repeatedly attempted to remove her underwear and bit her breast, the teen testified. Asked by county prosecutor Catherine Ruffle if she had asked Labrie to stop, she broke down in tears.

Detective testifies in St. Paul's School rape trial of Owen Labrie

CONCORD, N.H. -- The attorney for a young man accused of raping a fellow student at an elite prep school in New Hampshire is questioning whether his client was treated fairly by police.

Concord Police Detective Julie Curtin testified Tuesday in the trial of 19-year-old Owen Labrie of Tunbridge, Vermont.

Labrie faces charges stemming from an encounter with a then-15-year-old girl two days before he graduated from St. Paul's School last year.

The Boston Globe reports that Labrie's attorney, J.W. Carney, suggested that police tried to catch Labrie off-guard by driving to Vermont to interview him and later speaking to him without his parents present.

CONCORD, N.H. —Prosecutors Tuesday rested their case in the sexual assault trial of a prep school graduate.

Jurors heard from the lead police investigator and a criminologist who presented DNA evidence as the state wrapped up its case against Owen Labrie, a former St. Paul's School student accused of assaulting a 15-year-old freshman in May 2014.

"He was arrogant," said Detective Julie Curtin, describing her interaction with Labrie.

Labrie told police he went out with the teenager, but there was no sexual assault.

"He said after he put the condom on it was a sobering moment and that he had a moment of self-restraint and stopping, and he called it a moment of divine inspiration," Curtin said.

Owen Labrie takes stand in St. Paul’s rape case

By Peter Schworm and Andy Rosen Globe Staff  August 26, 2015

CONCORD, N.H. — Owen Labrie took the stand Wednesday as his attorneys began his defense against allegations that he sexually assaulted a 15-year-old girl while both were students last year at New Hampshire’s prestigious St. Paul’s School.

The 19-year old defendant is accused of forcing himself on the girl in a secluded room on the Concord campus in May 2014.

Speaking in court, Labrie said he intended to attend Harvard after graduation -- his admittance was later rescinded. He planned to study divinity with thoughts of someday entering the ministry.

He said he had gone to St. Paul’s on a full scholarship, and would not have been able to afford the school otherwise.

A calm, collected Labrie said that he had a “great” relationship with the freshman girl, and described their interactions in the time before the allegation as “pretty flirty.” On campus, they might wave to each other or exchange a “quick hug,” he said.

Defendant Owen Labrie, who is accused of raping another student at a prestigious New Hampshire prep school, took the witness stand in court today, describing how he and the alleged victim had flirted in the year leading up to the incident at the heart of the case.

Labrie, now 19, is accused of raping a student in May 2014 at St. Paul's School, in Concord, New Hampshire.

"We'd make it a point to say 'Hi' or a wink or a nod or something silly, so it was nice, and because of that, all of my friends knew of my affection for [the victim] and I think all of her friends knew of hers for me," Labrie said during his testimony this morning.

His atty sure "cleaned" him up nicely to look more Ivy League...

Defendant in NH prep school rape trial said he used 'every trick in the book' on accuser

Published August 27, 2015

".....Labrie acknowledged he told several friends in the hours after the encounter that he had had intercourse with the girl. When asked by a friend, how it had gone from "no" to intercourse, Labrie said in a Facebook reply that he "pulled every trick in the book."

"I wish I hadn't lied," he said when questioned by the prosecution. "I shouldn't have."

When prosecutor Joseph Cherniske asked Labrie if it was easy for him to lie, Labrie replied: "No."

Labrie said he deleted more than a hundred Facebook chats and messages, including ones in which he bragged of having intercourse with the girl. "They were really juvenile," he said, denying that he deleted them because they were incriminating.

He also denied that he wanted to have sex with the girl for months, even though hers was the only name he put in capital letters on a list he made in late March 2014 of girls he wanted to "slay" before school ended. A May 8 list he emailed to a friend contained the phrase "Still at Large" and the girl's name....."

".... He said he was concerned some sperm might have gotten on her underwear as their sexual encounter escalated...."

Hi tesstruhart.

She was fifteen, she never had sex before she met with Labrie in the science building. After her "encounter" with Labrie, she called her mother and told her that something really bad had happened to her. She didn't know how to stop him, she said 'NO' three times, she said in court that she felt violated. I believe she was sexually assaulted by the guy that "pulled every trick in the book" to have sex with her.

In St. Paul's Rape Trial, Jury Will Deliberate into Friday After Closing Arguments

By Christine Pelisek @chrispelisek
08/27/2015 AT 06:00 PM EDT

Owen Labrie was "going to get what he wanted and not take no for an answer," a prosecutor said during closing arguments in the prep school graduate's rape trial.

Labrie, now 19, is accused of raping a 15-year-old female student last year at New Hampshire's elite St. Paul's School. He has denied ever having sex with the high school freshman.

Jurors deliberated for several hours after the arguments but  did not reach a verdict. Deliberations are scheduled to resume Friday morning.

Cherniske said the girl “said no and said it three times.” He added, “Then she froze in fear as he carried out his plan.”

“He had to confuse and manipulate a 15-year-old girl to get what he wanted,” Cherniske said, according to the newspaper. “You only need tricks when you don’t have consent.”

Labrie's attorney Jay W. Carney Jr. said his client did not have sex with the girl.

Prep School Rape Trial Closing Arguments Describe Two Stories

Aug 27, 2015, 12:34 PM ET

By SUSANNA KIM and MEGHAN KENEALLYvia GOOD MORNING AMERICA

ABC Latest News | Latest News Videos

In the closing arguments today regarding an alleged rape at a prestigious New Hampshire prep school, attorneys for both sides asked jurors to question the credibility of the accuser and the defendant.

Owen Labrie, 19, is accused of raping a student in May 2014 at St. Paul's School, in Concord, New Hampshire. He is charged with multiple felonies relating to the encounter and has entered a not guilty plea.

Today, the attorney for the defendant, J.W. Carney, challenged jurors to consider if they believe the accuser's account of events beyond a reasonable doubt.

So he is guilty of 5 counts of misdemeanor and not guilty on more serious felony counts of rape. In any case from what I'm hearing he is now he will be a registered sex offender for the rest of his life. He was accepted into divinity school at Harvard(?) I guess that's history now as well. I may have this wrong, its been confusing to listen to for me. However he seems to be in a bucket of trouble. I know that he took advantage of a young girl, but wow this is pretty severe. I don't know the facts, so this is just gut reaction.

Owen Labrie of St. Paul’s School Not Guilty of Main Rape Charge (Video)

By JESS BIDGOOD AUG. 28, 2015

CONCORD, N.H. — The prep school graduate accused of raping a younger student at the elite St. Paul’s School dropped his head and sobbed for the first time since the start of his trial: He had been found not guilty on Friday of felony sexual assault charges, but was convicted of having sex with a girl who was below the age of consent.

The accuser sat in the front row, tightly flanked by her family, her father’s hand on her head, her mother’s arm around her shoulders. She cried, too, in the main hall of the drab courthouse here, before stepping out the back door.

So ended the trial of Owen Labrie, 19, and with it a rare exploration of the backslapping sexual culture among some students at one of the nation’s most exclusive boarding schools. For nearly two weeks, jurors listened to prosecutors and defense lawyers ask witnesses about a custom called the “senior salute,” in which older students at St. Paul’s propositioned younger classmates for a last-chance hookup before graduation.

But at its core, the case was about an intimate encounter between a 15-year-old girl and an 18-year-old acquaintance, and whether she consented as it escalated.

~Snipped~

And after several hours of deliberations over two days, the jury appeared to reject Mr. Labrie’s insistence that he did not penetrate the girl in any way, but found that the state had not proved that what happened was against the girl’s expressed wishes.

The nine men and three women rejected the more serious accusations of aggravated sexual assault but convicted Mr. Labrie of three misdemeanors related to the girl’s age and involving penetration with his penis, mouth and finger. He was also convicted of endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor, and a felony charge involving use of a computer to lure a minor.

It seemed, said one expert, to be a compromise among the jurors that may have turned on their understanding of consent.

The good ol' boy system at work again. Sigh. I felt rather discouraged reading of how the school was aware of the "scoring system" and failed to eliminate the mentality. An all boys' school with its tradition" to uphold... I guess this is the "tradition" St. Paul's wants to be known for. And the male jurors voted to uphold this "tradition" among "men."
(This is WHY women's lib started way back in the 1960s...)

There is NO 15 year old girl who fantasizes of losing her virginity on some roof top!
There was tremendous courage shown when she went to authorities to report her first sexual experience was DATE RAPE.
He brought the condoms which tells me where his mind was.
She was not on birth control because she was not sexually active nor intended to be.

And he "chalked" up another "conquest" with the approval of his upper crust superiors.

Appears to me, that silver spoon shoved in his mouth and granting him "extra privileges" is a bit outdated and rather dirty.

Thanks for all the coverage AD and CP.

Harvard won’t say if it rescinded Owen Labrie’s admission

By Allison Pohle @AllisonPohle and Allison Manning @allymanning

After he was accepted to Harvard College, Owen Labrie’s Facebook profile was added to the Harvard College Class of 2018’s Facebook page. A few months later, it had disappeared.

During the summer before what should’ve been his freshman year at Harvard, Labrie was arrested on rape charges.

In September 2014, The Harvard Crimson noted that Labrie was no longer enrolled in the college. The Crimson also wrote that the Facebook profile, which he would use to communicate with the girl before the assault occurred, was no longer listed on the Harvard College student directory Facebook or the Class of 2018’s Facebook page.

~Snipped~

Rachael Dane, a spokeswoman for Harvard College, said the school doesn’t publicly comment on the admissions status of individual applicants, but she did release a statement:

“Harvard College reserves the right to withdraw an offer of admission under certain conditions, which are clearly expressed to students upon their acceptance,” she said in a statement. “An offer of admission may be rescinded if a student engages in behavior that brings into question his or her honesty, maturity, or moral character.”

Take that for what you will.

In the end, the jury believed her. Owen Labrie had sex with her when she was just 15.

But just like she feared, they didn’t think she did enough to stop him.

~Snipped~

She should have never left her room that night, she thought, as she stared up at the ceiling and waited for it to end.

“If I had just been able to kick or yell at him,” she testified. “If I just had been able to get the point across. To push or do something. I could have stopped it.”

The jurors believed Labrie had sex with her, despite his day of testimony where he claimed over and over that he never did anything more than kiss the girl and maybe grind up on her. It was mutual, he said. It seemed like she was having a great time.

In Owen Labrie’s mug shot, his hair is flipped up stylishly as piercing green eyes peer into the camera. But in court this week, the former St. Paul’s School student has worn a neat sports coat, combed his hair, and hidden his eyes behind a pair of black-framed glasses.

The glasses aren’t just to help with vision. Legal experts said wearing frames are part of the regular, tried-and-true strategy of making a defendant look more sympathetic for a jury trial.

Owen Labrie was charged with three counts of felonious sexual assault.

“It’s part and parcel with wearing a coat and tie,” says Rosanna Cavallaro, a Suffolk University Law School professor teaching criminal law. “[Glasses] suggest that someone is intelligent, thoughtful, [and you can] extrapolate from there to sensitive, gentle.”

"....As you have learned throughout the trial, the phrase “senior salute” describes a wide range of behaviors. It was never understood to include the conduct engaged in by Owen Labrie. That behavior was never condoned by the School, and we took action when it surfaced. Owen Labrie was banned from the School and his Rector’s Award was rescinded. We also revised the Student Handbook to state more explicitly that participation in any “game” of sexual conquest by any name or unauthorized possession of School keys or swipe cards would be grounds for expulsion....."

Hi Freckles,

The girl had nothing to gain and everything to lose by coming forward. There is a stigma about being the victim of a rape; the shame ... the credibility issues ...

The jury didn't believe him, he was obviously lying when he denied that he had penetrated her and had engaged in other sexual acts with her. They found him guilty of using a computer to lure a minor, but in spite of that, they didn't arrive to the conclusion that he had sexually assaulted her.

The jury's decision is very puzzling. It seems they reached a compromise that favored the defense in spite of the evidence. He could have been sentenced to 20 years if he would have been found guilty of the sexual assault charges.

VERDICT 08.28.156:45 PM ET

Should Owen Labrie, St Paul’s Accused, Go To Jail For 11 Years?

The accused in a sex scandal that enveloped top prep school St Paul’s was acquitted of the main charges against him, but found guilty of lesser. Was he convicted fairly?

After six days of evidence heard from 16 witnesses in the St. Paul’s School rape trial, the jury has acquitted 19-year-old Owen Labrie of three felony charges of sexually assaulting a now 16-year-old fellow former student at the New Hampshire prep school.

~Snipped~

He was also convicted of endangering a child, a misdemeanor, and a felony charge of using a computer to entice a minor.

The prosecution said Labrie would be forced to register as a Level II sex offender for life because of the computer charge, which also carries a prison sentence of up to seven years. He faces an additional four years behind bars for the misdemeanor charges.

A judge forced Labrie to surrender his passport, and set his bail at $15,000 until he is sentenced on October 29.

St. Paul’s issued a statement following the verdict on Friday commending “the remarkable moral courage and strength demonstrated by the young woman who has suffered through this nightmare.”

AD
I fear the women on the jury were trying to protect the future business leader(s) of the community. JMO I have seen and communicated with women who would cover for other children in the belief others would cover for their children if need be. Old boys system with the spin off of the wives .... (IMO, that is what originally happened in the case of the rape and murder of the Schwankle (sp that one) case. He is a distant cousin to the Kennedy family.)
Cell

Of interest, the court DID find him guilty of the misdemeanors except for the non-personal charge of using the internet to "lure" or entice a minor. The charges have a heavier penalty than the charges against the female. So using a computer to orchestrate a crime is now worse than the crime itself. Wow.

Because of how the jury responded, I believe we are not done seeing this young man in the courts. He is bad news. No

Did he have a psych evaluation completed?

Owen Labrie, Ex-St. Paul's Student Convicted of Sex Assault, Seeks New Trial

By Sarah Baker, Gabe Gutierrez and Cassandra Vinograd

Apr 6 2016, 8:06 am ET

The former prep school student whose rape case blew the lid off claims of a campus tradition of sexual conquest has asked for a new trial, documents show.

Owen Labrie was acquitted last year of felony rape but convicted on lesser charges against a 15-year-old classmate at New Hampshire's elite St. Paul's School. Prosecutors argued that Labrie's crimes were part of an alleged ritual called the "Senior Salute" in which graduating seniors try to bed underclassmen.

A judge called Labrie "a leader not a follower" in sentencing him to three concurrent 12-month terms for convictions of misdemeanor sexual assault and a felony charge of computer-related seduction.

Labrie initially was allowed to remain free on bail pending an appeal, but was taken into custody in March and ordered to start serving his 1-year sentence after he violated bail conditions by missing curfew.

He got off with a ridiculously light sentencing and had three convictions run CONCURRENT so he ended up with one year!
And he thought he was above the law...because the law treated hims that way due to his family's wealth, connections with others in community. Truly a case of "affluenza."

Prep school grad in NH sex assault case has new lawyer

CONCORD, N.H. -- A New England prep school graduate convicted of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old freshman as part of a game of sexual conquest has new lawyers, following prosecutors' arguments that his lawyer has a conflict of interest.

Three Washington attorneys have asked to join Owen Labrie's case. He's seeking a new trial on charges stemming from an encounter he had with the teen in 2014 at St. Paul's School in Concord.

Prosecutors said Labrie's local lawyer, Jaye Rancourt, took an active role in his trial defense and shouldn't represent him because he's arguing that his trial team was ineffective. Labrie's lawyers say Rancourt was barred from reviewing key documents and didn't question expert witnesses.

Labrie started serving a one-year sentence in March. A judge revoked the 20-year-old's bail after Labrie admitted violating curfew. Labrie's appealing that decision.

I agree, this is truly a case of "affluenza". He got only one year for sexually assaulting an underage girl and was free on bail while appealing his conviction. I feel extremely sorry for the victim and the victim's family.

Prep school grad in sex case gets chance for release from jail

CONCORD, N.H. -- A New Hampshire prep school graduate convicted of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old freshman as part of a game of sexual conquest is getting another chance to be released from jail while he appeals.

A judge revoked Owen Labrie's bail in March after he admitted violating his curfew. He appealed that decision to the state Supreme Court, which on Thursday sent the matter back to the trial court.

Justices note that Labrie could end up serving his entire one-year sentence before his direct appeal is decided. They say the lower court should consider whether Labrie has been jailed long enough to understand the importance of complying with his bail conditions. Labrie's attorney says the ruling encourages her.

Prep school shame: Investigation reveals five former Phillips Exeter Academy staffers 'had inappropriate sexual contact with students' from 1966 to the 1980s

"....The investigation by Holland & Knight, the law firm commissioned by Phillips Exeter several months ago, identified four teachers, including a drama teacher, and a psychologist who allegedly engaged in sexually inappropriate behavior involving a total of eight students from 1966 to the 1980s....."

"... The string of abuse claims at Exeter and at several other prep schools in New England, including St. George's School in Rhode Island and St. Paul's in New Hampshire, has raised concerns that the schools failed to take allegations seriously in the past or bungled their investigations...."

New Hampshire's elite St Paul's prep school in 'new sex scandal where boys compete for sexual conquests to have their names engraved on a CROWN'

Concord police are investigating an alleged sexual assault that took place on the campus of St. Paul's elite prep school

During the investigation, information came to light about a new 'sexual conquest game'

Eight boys at one of the school's dormitories reportedly competed to have their names put on a crown

In 2014, a senior at the school, Owen Labrie, was charged with sexually assaulting an underage classmate as part of a 'Senior Salute' conquest game

Also.....
While there is a CURRENT investigation into senior students raping or attempting rape, there is a larger issue of ongoing sexual misconduct by the FACULTY!!!

"..... ST. PAUL'S EX-STAFFERS ENGAGED IN SEXUAL MISCONDUCT
The St. Paul's School acknowledged last month that 13 former members of its staff engaged in sexual misconduct with students in incidents dating back decades, following an independent review by a Boston law firm.

The St. Paul's School apologized and said that it had failed to adequately investigate allegations of sexual abuse by staff.

The report follows the arrest last year of a former Episcopal priest, Howard White, who served as the school's chaplain in the late 1960s and early 1970s on charges that he sexually assaulted a teenage student.

'The school failed to protect students from sexual abuse and sexual misconduct done to them by adults entrusted with their care,' wrote Rector Michael Hirschfeld and Board of Trustees President Archibald Cox in an open letter to school families.

'We offer our most sincere apology to survivors for the wrongs that were done to them at St. Paul's School and also for the failure to pursue investigations of allegations when they were initially made.'

The 73-page report details claims of sex abuse against 13 former faculty members that occurred from the late 1940s through the 1980s, based on interviews with alleged victims and witnesses, whose statements St. Paul's said substantiated the claims.

St. Paul's is not the only boarding school grappling with past sexual abuse of students by staff and faculty.

Choate Rosemary Hall in Connecticut last month said that 12 of its former teachers had abused students, and St. George's School in Rhode Island last year disclosed similar abuse in the 1970s and 80s.

Indeed, the former St. Paul's chaplain whose arrest led to Monday's report went on to work at St. George's after leaving St. Paul's.

He pled guilty in Boston to charges of sex abuse and was sentenced to 18 months in prison.

The investigation by law firm Casner & Edwards was unable to substantiate claims against another 21 current and former faculty and staff.

St. Paul's currently has some 530 students and 110 full-time staff on its Concord, New Hampshire, campus.

The scandal is the latest blow to the 161-year-old school's reputation. ...."

"..... New Hampshire Attorney General Gordon J. MacDonald says the goal of the investigation is to protect children from sexual violence moving forward, stating that the “protection of children is a paramount priority for law enforcement.”

Although Labrie was acquitted on the felony rape charges that the investigation seeks to rectify, Superior Court Judge Lawrence Smukler sentenced the former prep school standout to 12 months in prison for a plethora of offenses, including misdemeanour sexual assault, endangering the welfare of a child, and computer-related seduction.

Computer-related seduction is a felony charge aimed at preventing catfishing, the practice of a person posing under an alias to create a false identity in attempt to pursue deceptive online romances. In Labrie’s case, he used Facebook to contact a 15-year-old underclassman in pursuit of consensual sexual relations when he was 18. ....."

Prep School Graduate Begins Jail Time for 2014 Sex Assault

"....Last month, the state Supreme Court upheld Labrie’s convictions on the computer charge.
