Police: Texas boy, 15, charged in his mother's murder



LA MARQUE, Texas -- Police say a 15-year-old South Texas boy has been charged with first degree murder after his mother was found dead on Saturday, reports CBS affiliate KHOU.

On Saturday, authorities were responding to a call in the 2800 block of Fannin Street in La Marque -- about 50 miles south of Houston -- when they found the body of Nita Moseley, according to the station. Officials believe she had been dead for several days.

Her son was missing, but was later found unharmed. A 2014 black Nissan Maxima was also missing at the time, so police had reported the car stolen.

The 15-year-old has since been charged with Moseley's murder.

LA MARQUE, Texas – La Marque police say a 14-year-old boy is charged with first degree murder after his mom's death over the weekend.

The body of Nita Moseley, 33, was found by a neighbor in her home on Saturday.

Her son was missing but later found unharmed, and he has since been charged in Moseley's murder.

Officials with the Galveston County Medical Examiner have yet to release an official cause of death. Further details about the case have not yet been released.

"She did any and everything for her son," said a neighbor and friend who goes by Austin. "They got along great. Her son was a good student."

A friend of the victim said she was four months pregnant.

Moseley was four months pregnant when she was found dead on her kitchen floor by a neighbor

A 14-year-old boy has been charged with murdering his pregnant mother five days after she was found dead inside their family home.

Nita Moseley, 33, was lying on the kitchen floor in La Marque, Texas, on Tuesday when a neighbor dropped by the visit.

Her son, who has not been named, was not in the house, prompting a five-day manhunt.

According to the Houston Chronicle, the academic football player was taken to the local police station on Sunday evening.

He was charged on Monday morning after interviews with detectives.

In a news statement, police said the boy was cooperating with the investigation.

They believe he acted alone.

LA MARQUE, TX (KTRK) -- The Galveston County medical examiner confirms Nita Moseley was pregnant when she was killed. The single mother's body was found in her La Marque rental home last weekend. Her 14-year-old son is charged with her murder.

...The Galveston County medical examiner would not release the cause of death until La Marque police detectives speak with Maldonado's family. We do know now the charges could be upgraded to capital murder. Whether the district attorney goes that route, is not yet known.
