MIDWEST CITY — A man facing a murder complaint in the death of his 2-month-old daughter said he was upset with his wife and took it out on the baby, police said Tuesday.

Brylee Watson was pronounced dead Monday.

Her father, Jacob Lynn Watson, 24, is being held in the Oklahoma County jail, police said.

Doctors said Brylee suffered nine fractures, including both arms, her ribs and her skull, Midwest City Police Chief Brandon Clabes said.

A medical examiner’s preliminary report shows blunt force head trauma caused the baby’s death, spokeswoman Cherokee Ballard said. Other injuries included a lacerated liver. The death was ruled a homicide.

Ballard said the full autopsy might take several weeks to complete.

Jerri Kamman, who is pregnant and has a 2-year-old daughter, said she was sickened by what happened a few houses away.

Kamman said she learned Tuesday her neighbor was in jail and his infant daughter was dead.

Watson called 911 about 10:45 p.m. Friday and said Brylee was not breathing. The baby was taken to OU Medical Center and was placed on life support on Saturday, Clabes said.

Emergency personnel dispatched to 2605 N Thornton Drive found Brylee not breathing and began performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation. OU Medical Center doctors said she was a victim of abuse, Clabes said.

"These are the cases that pull at your heart,” Clabes said. "When you look at the amount of fractures, it is unimaginable the pain this child went through — probably more than most people experience in a lifetime.”

Detective Steve Simonson interviewed several family members, including Watson, who was taking care of Brylee while her mother was at work Friday.

Watson initially said he put Brylee in her crib and checked on her a few moments later and she was not breathing. Then he said he was carrying Brylee when he tripped over their cat — dropping the girl to the concrete floor then falling on top of her, Clabes said.

"Watson then told us a third version in which two black males broke into his house, stole money from him and then physically abused Brylee and another 2-year-old child in the home,” Clabes said.

Finally, Watson said he caused the injuries because he was upset about his deteriorating relationship with his wife and "took it out on Brylee,” Clabes said.

Watson was arrested on a child abuse complaint Saturday and booked into the Midwest City jail, Clabes said. The complaint was changed to murder after she died.

The other child in the home was taken into protective custody, Clabes said.

Watson married Aubrey Lynn Bell in January 2007, Oklahoma County court records show. The family moved into the Midwest City house in September.

A family member who answered the telephone number listed for Watson said the family does not want to comment.

Kamman said her neighborhood just across the street from the Midwest City Police Department is usually quiet and she feels as safe there.

Neighbor Tanner Burnett said he had seen the older child playing in the yard, but he did not know Watson well. Burnett said he hadn’t noticed any trouble next door.

MIDWEST CITY — A father jailed in connection with the death of his infant daughter told police he thinks he hurt the baby "in the past," details of a police investigation show.

Jacob Lynn Watson, 24, of Midwest City is in Oklahoma County jail on a murder complaint in the death of 2-month-old Brylee Watson. Brylee died Monday after suffering nine bone fractures. Jacob Watson was arrested Saturday.

An affidavit of probable cause signed by Midwest City detective Steve Simonson and submitted to Oklahoma County prosecutors shows child abuse may have occurred before Friday.

In an interview with the detective Saturday, Watson said "he had seen bruises on the baby before Friday and "felt that he had caused them," according to the affidavit.

Watson called 911 Friday night and said Brylee was not breathing. She was taken to OU Medical Center where doctors said she had fractures to her arms, right femur, ribs and skull. She was pronounced dead Monday.

Simonson asked Watson if he had ever hurt the baby, and he said he remembered "standing outside of her room in the past and hearing her crying."

"He said he believes he probably did something to cause her to cry. Jacob also told me he has seen bruises on the baby and felt that he had caused them," Simonson wrote in the affidavit.

Watson has not been formally charged. He is being held without bail.

Isn't this just a heartbreaking story? It happens so much to these innocent victims. It just makes me want to cry.

I hope this father is charged with murder, convicted and spends the rest of his life in prison. He deserves no less.

I can't believe anybody is capable of beating on a 2-month-old baby and killing them. It is totally disgusting. I hope Watson never sees the outside of a jail cell again.

Another cold callous killer who kills his own child to punish the mother. I haven't forgotten the little one who was shot in the head, no remorse. This occurs far too often in today's society. How were these "males" brought up? No compassion, no regard for others.
No regard for life, no love for a helpless infant, no reason for this POS to ever be released from prison. The mother needs to be investigated also, if baby had bruises. Perhaps this was not the first time he harmed a child.
Poor, poor little baby.

This is just sickening and heartbreaking. A two month old, helpless little child. Evil and heartless. Another baby, murdered by the person that was supposed to love and nurture them. Rest in peace, little Brylee. He can't hurt you anymore.
