MONROE - A Monroe woman who is accused of helping a convicted sex offender take sexually explicit photos of a teenage girl was ordered held yesterday without bond after a detention hearing in U.S. District Court in Detroit.

The photos were allegedly posted on a child pornography Web site operated out of their home.

Patricia Podgajski, 45, is charged with sexual exploitation of children. The charge is in connection with an investigation into a paid Internet Web site that authorities said allowed users to pay $100 to view sexually graphic and nude images of the 15-year-old girl.

A criminal complaint against Ms. Podgajski and James Frazee, 52, was unsealed Tuesday in federal court in Detroit.

Frazee, who shares the rented home in Monroe with Ms. Podgajski, is listed on the Michigan Sex Offender Registry for having a criminal sexual conduct conviction in the 1990s, authorities said.

According to documents filed in court, a preliminary review of a computer taken Jan. 22 during a search of the home revealed more than 500,000 images of the girl as well as other pornographic photos of other children.

Frazee admitted to investigators that he took sexually explicit photos of the victim, beginning when she was about 9, and sold the images to customers of the paid Internet site, the documents said.

Ms. Podgajski also confessed to authorities in interviews that she was present when the girl was photographed for an image posted on the Internet and that she helped her co-defendant operate the Web site by going to locations to pick up money sent by customers who paid for memberships.

"She knew the Web site existed. She would go to pick up payments where she and Frazee would have them sent," said Assistant U.S. Attorney Louis Gabel.

Mr. Gabel said investigators are continuing to analyze the computer to get an inventory of its contents.

"We are very early into the investigation. We still have to complete our forensic examination of the computer. We have only done a preliminary review of the computer," Mr. Gabel said.

Ms. Podgajski appeared yesterday in federal court before Magistrate Mona Majzoub, who decided that she should be held without bond until a preliminary hearing on Feb. 16.

If convicted, she faces a 15-year prison sentence for sexual exploitation of a minor.

Frazee is charged with production of child pornography and possession of child pornography in the federal case.

He is being held in the Monroe County jail for allegedly failing to comply with sexual-offender registration requirements.

Frazee has waived a preliminary hearing in District Court, agreeing to have the case transferred to Circuit Court.

He has not been scheduled to appear in federal court on the pornography charges.

Diana Morris, a neighbor of Ms. Podgajski and Frazee, said the two were friendly and that "everything seemed normal."

"They were always pretty quiet," she said.

The investigation into Ms. Podgajski and Frazee began after nude images of the girl were found in a computer taken from a home in Jackson, Tenn.

The photos were traced to an Internet site that offered access for eight months to the pornography for $100.

Documents filed in court said an agent who accessed the Web site received e-mail instructions and sent the money to Ms. Podgajski at a Toledo Western Union office, where she allegedly collected the cash about one hour later.

"It was not a very sophisticated operation. It was fairly easy to track," Mr. Gabel said.

According to court records, Ms. Podgajski claimed she and Frazee received about $1,000 monthly from the site and that the Web site was created after he moved into the home in 2003.

If convicted, Frazee faces a possible sentence of 15 years to 30 years on the production of child pornography charge and 10 years for the pornography possession offense.

It is unbelievable what some parents will allow perverts to do to their children. What the hell is wrong with people?

And they've been doing it since she was 9 yrs old. Let's hope the judge truly sentences the mom 15 years and not just give her a slap on the hand. And the other perv needs to go back to prison for life. Disgusting.

Does anybody know what type of prison sentence they are facing. Let's hope Mom doesn't just get probation and counseling. This poor kid will suffer for life.

I just now read this thread...What in the world is the matter with that mother...The ever loving dollar got her hooked...and I wonder if the teen got any of the $$$...The teen was probably finagled into doing it...as she certainly was old enough to know that it wasn't right...These pervs need to be incarcerated and the teen needs to be placed with a loving family that can see that she gets counseling...

These two pigs, the bio(tch)-mother and the SO, both need to be locked up for a very long time.

The daughter is going to have a very difficult time trying to "forget" that she was used and appears on porn sites.
How does one help a girl get over something so disgusting, and that her own mother betrayed her for money.

What draws women to convicted criminal sex offenders anyway?!? Especially when they have young children at home.

I don't think 15 years is enough for the mom. Frazee shouldn't get anything less than a life sentence since he has a previous conviction.

There is a woman in my area that was just sentenced to life in prison for offering up her daughter to a sex offender for drugs and money. The SO is back in prison, he got 18 years on a plea deal. She has the possibility of parole after 10 years. I highly doubt she'll serve life, she should. And so should the repeat sex offender.

I agree, Piper, and until legislators CHANGE THE LAWS in order to take these kinds of people off the streets for good, it will keep happening.... over and over again.
