The ex-wife of the Orange County meter reader who found Caylee Marie Anthony's remains will be questioned under oath later this month, according to a notice filed in court Friday.

Prosecutors handling the first-degree murder case against Caylee's mother, Casey Anthony, will question Jill Kerley, who lives in Tennessee, on Feb. 25. Kerley was married to now former meter reader Roy Kronk for about four months.

Casey Anthony's defense team had earlier requested to depose Kerley and save her testimony. Orange County Circuit Judge Stan Strickland granted the request, but prosecutors have the right to depose Kerley first.

Casey Anthony's lawyers claim testimony from Kerley will introduce evidence that Kronk should be a suspect in the case. Kronk found Caylee's remains in December 2008 in woods near her family's east Orange County home.

Kerley already told a private investigator for the Anthony team that Kronk once tied her up with duct tape and kidnapped her for two weeks, records said. Her allegations were videotaped and released to the media.

Duct tape is central to the first-degree murder case. Forensic evidence released by the State Attorney's Office shows Caylee's mouth was covered by duct tape when she died.

Kronk's attorney has said his client never hurt his ex-wives and had nothing to do with 2-year-old Caylee other than finding her bones.

Because of an illness, Kerley can't travel to Orlando. She will report to a lawyer's office in Knoxville for the questioning.

this woman is a nut, the defense knows she is a nut, that is the reason they DONT want her on the stand. you cannot cross examine a videotape, and with the prosecution going first, they dont really have a chance to rebutt any of the stupid things the defense will try to bring up..

the last video i saw of this woman, she looked just fine to me. i dont see how she got too sick to travel SO FAST!!!

If this is the star witless for the defense, then it's over.

This woman is a prime example of a "shifty-eyed" character.


Time to put an end to this farce, and let Casey plea guilty to the charges she is facing.
There are no more pathetic witlesses to call upon to try and evoke sympathy for Casey the Child Killer.

ORLANDO -- Prosecutors in the case against Casey Anthony will get the first chance to question the ex-wife of the former meter reader who found the body of Casey’s 2-year-old daughter, Caylee.

According to the Orlando Sentinel, Jill Kerley, who lives in Tennessee, will be deposed Feb. 25.

Kerley was married to Roy Kronk for about four months.

Casey Anthony’s defense team claimed Kerley’s testimony will introduce evidence that Kronk should be a suspect in Caylee’s murder.

Kerley told defense investigators Kronk once tied her up with duct tape. Forensic evidence reportedly showed Caylee’s mouth was similarly covered with duct tape when she died.

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Prosecutors in the Casey Anthony case will talk on Thursday with the ex-wife of the man who found Caylee Anthony's body.

Jill Kerley is too sick to travel to Orlando from her home in Tennessee, so the interview will be conducted via the Internet.

Previously, Kerley has said Roy Kronk restrained her with duct tape, and she said he may have had something to do with Caylee's death.

Kronk strongly denies those allegations and said Kerley has an ax to grind.

Roy Kronk’s ex-wife questioned

The deposition of an ex-wife of former meter reader Roy Kronk took about two hours today, WESH-Channel 2 reported this evening.

Prosecutor Jeff Ashton had no comment about the deposition for WESH’s Bob Kealing.

Prosecutors talked to the ex-wife, Jill Kerley, via Internet hookup in her attorney’s office in Knoxville, Tenn.

“A judge will view Kerley’s testimony and then decide whether it’s relevant to the case,” WFTV-Channel 9 anchor Bob Opsahl said.

Kronk found the remains of Caylee Anthony. Her mother, Casey Anthony, is charged with first-degree murder in the toddler’s death.

Kerley earlier said that her “gut” told her Kronk had something to do with the child’s death. She made that taped comment to the Anthony defense team.

“Casey’s defense team had said Kerley’s testimony will prove that her ex-husband, Roy Kronk, should be a suspect in Caylee’s murder,” Opsahl said.

Kerley said Kronk had used duct tape on her, and duct tape was found on Caylee’s remains.

What were prosecutors trying to do with today’s deposition?

“They’re going to try to get her [Kerley] under oath to catch her in lies,” said Orlando attorney Richard Hornsby in offering analysis for WESH. “I’m willing to bet she’s not going to make a very good witness.”

Hornsby noted that Kerley wouldn’t be able to offer her personal opinions in the Anthony murder trial. He also questioned the defense team’s strategy of using Kerley, saying jurors would “assume she has an ax to grind, that she’s bitter.”

not relivant, and her thoughts and opinions are not admissible. i hope the prosecution chewed her up and spit her out.

Woman was married to finder of girl's remains

Florida prosecutors in the highly publicized Caylee Anthony murder case were in Knoxville on Thursday, deposing a Maryville woman who was briefly married to the man who found the toddler's body.

Jill Kerley, 40, of Maryville was married to Roy Kronk for about four months in the early 1990s. They lived in Key West, Fla., Maryville and Maryland while married.

Caylee's mother, Casey Anthony, has been charged with murder in Florida, but defense attorneys contend that Kronk should be investigated as a suspect. Kronk was an Orange County, Fla., meter reader when he found the 2-year-old's remains in December 2008 near the home Casey Anthony lived in with her parents.

Kerley, in an interview with a private investigator working for the defense, has said she thinks Kronk could have killed Caylee. In the interview, she said Kronk was physically abusive and had tied her up with duct tape and held her captive. She also said that Kronk appeared obsessed with duct tape.

Kronk has said he had nothing to do with Caylee's killing.

The child's mouth was covered with duct tape when she died, according to forensic evidence that has been made public in legal proceedings.

A videotape of Kerley's interview is on YouTube.

However, Kerley and her family had nothing to do with the tape being made public, said their lawyer, Tom Dillard, in whose Knoxville office Thursday's deposition took place.

"She is not trying to generate any publicity," Dillard said. "She is trying her best to remain as out of focus as she possibly can, not only because of concern for her own well-being but also because of her medical condition. She is in very frail health right now."

An interview with another of Kronk's ex-wives also has been posted on YouTube.

Kerley was subpoenaed by Florida authorities. Her deposition was taken in Tennessee because she is too ill to travel.

As they are allowed to do under Florida law, representatives of the defense team were present during Kerley's deposition, Dillard said.

Kerley and her family declined to be interviewed or issue a statement Thursday.

Caylee disappeared in 2008 and was missing for 30 days before her disappearance was reported. The case has generated extensive national news media coverage.

Casey Anthony gave conflicting stories as to her daughter's whereabouts. An Oak Ridge National Laboratory scientist led a team that conducted tests showing a decomposing body had been in the trunk of Casey Anthony's car. The mother was charged with murder in October 2008.

Kronk found Caylee's remains in a plastic bag on Dec. 11, 2008, in the wetland area near the Anthony home, after urging authorities months before to check it.
