Hey Puzz - Great job! May I add one of my very favorite commentaries on the web, "Rebecca Zahau and the cops investigating her suicide"? It's priceless. Following is a clipped excerpt:

ASSHOLES, DUMBASSES, OR DUMB-ASSHOLES?

I’m no detective, but one of these perspectives is more plausible than the other. Whatever the case, an asshole/dumbass/dumb-asshole was involved.

Some scenarios:

1. It was a murder. The cops got paid off and are assholes.

2. It was a murder, but the cops realized it will probably never be solved. For the sake of the city’s clean reputation, they ruled it a suicide and not a murder. Still assholes.

3. It was a murder that the cops initially believed was a suicide. They realized they made a mistake but want to spare themselves the embarrassment of admitting they were wrong so they’re sticking with the suicide theory. This would make them dumb-assholes.

4. It was a murder, but the cops really believe it was a suicide. This would make them dumbasses.

5. It was a suicide, and Rebecca Zahau is the real asshole here. She longed for fame and wanted her death to make headlines so she hung herself in the most bizarre way possible.

VERDICT: Our case remains open.

Technically, this is not an unsolved homicide. There was a confirmed suicide ruling, rightly or wrongly, and it is a closed case.

They are working to appeal that ruling.

I am interested in another case also. JonBenet Ramsey.
Lawrence Schiller did book and a T.V. movie Perfect murder Perfect Town and during his investigation of this case and on Nancy Grace he stated that Law Enforcement does not pass judgement on a case. They are an investigative body that brings evidence to the DA or SA.

In the case of JBR, The DA cleared the Ramseys; but, the police never did. As I understand it, The JBR case is not really a closed case but a cold case.

Now for our legal egales. Is it Bonnie Dumanis that determined that the Rebecca Zahau case is a closed case, suicide? Also, could????, which I am sure they did not, SDSO still have kept this as an open case, cold case, or undetermined?

Colorado did? So were SDSO told what was to be done with this case?

Since Bonnie Dumanis is the San Diego County District Attorney, I'm pretty sure she is the one who closed it. She does not really have a good record as a DA as far as I'm concerned. However, the one she replaced had plenty of problems of his own, being unethical among other things, and that is Paul Pfingst. Yes, he's the lawyer who came to Spreckles the night when Rebecca had been found, trying to cross police crime tape.

I've been thinking more about the "suicide" decision. I've noticed a LOT of suicides have occurred, a few of which I have my doubts - BUT, the number of convictions is a bragging statistic for running for DA, and saying possible murders are suicides also lowers the number of crimes committed AND saves money on investigation. Yeah, I'm very jaded about the way crimes have been investigated and charged, for the last decade.

However, what convinced me Rebecca was murdered was due to the police report taking the word of a person who found her. The first thing most people would do would be to call 911 and then wait until help came. If nothing else, just touching her leg would determine she was dead as it would be cold. That's just for starters. GRRR, I'm getting all upset again, so will leave it at that for now.

I hate to assume anything in this case. But, since Paul Pfingst showed up at the Spreckles Mansion and said he was not representing JS, could he have been delivering the unsaid message that this is a suicide? I don't think we ever came to a conclusion why he was there for sure.

Also didn't he show up twice that day? I am not sure about that but I think I remember that he did.

LE does not submit a SUICIDE case to the DA for prosecution. LE closes case.

Val corrected me one time when I had hoped that the case closure was a red herring. She said that in order for the case to be re-opened the ME would have to change his conclusion of suicide. This makes it uphill both ways for the Zahaus.

Jonah recieves text from Adam at 6:48am 'Your Girl Hung Herself' Does he jump in the car? Noooooooooo!

He phones the ex-wife that he hates! He tells her he has recieved the 'news' and will be by her side in two minutes! I'm sure he reminds her to be in front of suveillance cameras so they can both be accounted for at 7:00am. This footage must be priceless! What keeps him there? He admits to being gone from 2:00am-7:00am. (NOTE: This timeframe is of no interest to SDLE!) He decides to sit with his ex-wife with this astonishing unbelievable news? He lets his odd brother attempt CPR on Rebecca as he accepts coffee in a styrofoam cup from the hospital candystriper? Does he sit? Does he pace? Does he collapse? Does he feign concern for Max?

Even though he had been away from the hospital and not even back to the hospital yet when he gets the news he can't spare a half hour? Nope! He must start to establish an alibi!

Does he actually tell the police that he and Dina were by his son's side the entire time? He must have. That information was spread far and wide and FAST! Who spread this lie? SDLE! They believed him, they spread his lie, then they really never corrected it properly. Some people still believe what they first heard... the LIE!

Today, Trayvon Martin's autopsy was released. I was watching TV and the first thing I saw was a front/back drawing of a male with areas of marks on Trayvon's body noted.

It reminded me, again, that Rebecca Zahau's autopsy report, did NOT include that drawing. Max's autopsy included the drawing and it was done by the same M.E. as Rebecca.

Why is there "no drawing" for Rebecca's autopsy???

There is only ONE reason that drawing wasn't properly included with the autopsy! Because it DOES NOT SUPPORT SUICIDE! The press conference was already beyond bogus. I'm sure LE got together and decided that the drawing was just too inexplicable for the public to see. SEAL IT!

I do wonder why the news/press didn't get their hands on it.

Would they have a drawing if there were no injuries to the body, which would not have been if she was just hanged? A drawing could not show whether she did it herself or if someone else did it to her.

IDK if there would be a drawing if the body had no marks on it.

However, specifically, Rebecca's body had "many" marks - detailed in the written portion of the autopsy report....and two of those marks were around her neck - one was a small straight-line around the neck and the other was a larger v-shaped mark made by the rope in hanging.

Where the v-shape of the hanging rope makes the "v" is where the smaller "straight-line" shows up - per the written portion of the autopsy report. Makes one consider that she was strangled first and then hung to cover-up the strangulation mark....oh, that "v" area shows a lot!

Also, per the autopsy report, there are numerous marks on her back and upper hip areas - EVEN underneath her arms/wrists that were tied behind her back...meaning....that the marks to her back were made before her wrists were bound. Otherwise, the portion of the back covered by the arms would not have marks on it and, instead, the back of the arms, elbows, etc. would have marks on them....which they did "not".

It's clear that the numerous marks to RZ's back and upper hip areas were incurred prior to her wrists having been bound behind her back.

I am sure there is a drawing. They just did not want anyone to see it.

That is the trouble with this case. They tried to hide so much they made it look worse than it might have been.
It is a "worse comes to worst" thing.

So is Bonnie D waiting for the election to decide? If she loses can the new DA open it?

I have always had the same question. No drawing or photo. The ME had a photo of Max. Until Dina filed suit, did we know a photo(s) existed? I personally don't remember reading anything about photos in his AR. I admit it has been awhile since I read both reports. I just dont recall anything like see attached photos, etc...Could photos of Rebecca exist and we just don't know about them?

Thanks Lash it is nice to have your expertise here with this case. It is something else. I thought I remembered drawings of Max because of the marks on his back. But, this may have just come from people talking about it.

Does anyone know when the Hinky information will be ready for us so that we can go back and look at this old stuff? I need a refresher course. I thought I would not forget but I have.

You can ask KZ via PM, but to my knowledge all autopsies are photographed. And audioed...

The ME indicates on the autopsy reports for both Rebbeca and Max the usual photographs were taken. Just as Max, photographs should exist for Rebecca.
