Father and Son Arrested in Slaying of 18-Year-Old Taylor van Diest

A father and son have been arrested in the Halloween night slaying of 18-year-old Taylor van Diest, a horrible crime that rocked her home town of Armstrong. The news was announced just after 1 p.m. today by the RCMP Southeast District Major Crimes Unit at a packed news conference in Armstrong city hall.

Charged are Matthew Foerster, 26, of Cherryville and his father Roy Foerster, 58, of Cherryville.

Matthew Foerster faces charges of second degree murder. He has also been charged with one count of sexual assault and unlawful confinement in connection with an April 12, 2005 sexual assault of a Kelowna woman.

Roy Foerster has been charged with obstruction of justice and accessory after the fact in connection with Taylor Van Diest's murder.
