A little stunned by juror questions. Seems some did not listen very well when Dr. D M was first on the stand. Very disappointed by questions. Seems like some may be buying into the abuse scenario, or feeling sorry for JA, and I am gob smacked as to how this can be after the dr.'s epic day on the stand with Juan.
If these jurors are like the CA trial or there is another hung jury my faith in the system will be finished off...

Q: Was Jodi mentally ill prior to the murder?
DeMarte: She has Borderline Personality Disorder. That doesn't come out of the blue, it happens over time. 

Q: Without having training in DAPS testing, what is your basis for believing Dr. Geffner administered it incorrectly?
DeMarte: It's a self-reporting test. Don't need extensive training in it.  Any psychologist could have picked out his errors.

Q: How many tests are there to diagnose  Borderline Personality Disorder and PTSD?
DeMarte: There are hundreds of tests. Some are more popular than others.

Q:  How many did you personally administer?
DeMarte: I administered 4 tests: MMPI,  RAP, TSI and WAIS. 

Q: How many years experience do you have in treating domestic violence victims?
DeMarte: Since 2004

Q:  How many years do you have in treating sexual abuse victimes?
DeMarte: Since 2004

Q:  Do these fields require certification?
DeMarte: Yes for a clinical psychologist.  To treat  PTSD or victims of domestic violence, there's no certification out there. 

Q:  When you were treating patients from 2004-2008, was it by yourself or with another psychologist?
DeMarte: Before licensed I practiced under the license of another psychologist but I met alone with the patient.  This is standard.

Q:  Do you feel that the knowledge of a sexual assault is as damaging as having a memory of it?
DeMarte:  It can manifest into PTSD but you have to have the symptoms. It wouldn't be PTSD without memory.

Q: Can the body have reactions to certain stimuli that trigger feelings to suppressed memories?
DeMarte: Yes, there could be a physiological reaction.

Q:  In one of the communications between Jodi and Travis, Travis says Jodi can have all of his passwords. Is that still considered unwanted intrusive behavior?
DeMarte:  No, not when they exchanged information. As time went on, it was clear that Travis took away the permission. 

Q: There were some communications between Travis and other women where he complained that Jodi wouldn't leave him alone. Were these people, like Michele Lowry, aware he was still seeing Jodi?
DeMarte: Not to the extent it was sexual.

Q:  How long in total did Jodi work at the Purple Plum both times?
DeMarte:  I would need to look at my notes.....I'm not sure.

 Q:  Did you monitor her at all after the four times you met with her?
DeMarte: No.

Q: How far back did your forensic evaluation go and were all the records were available?
DeMarte:  All the records pertaining to her were made available to me, as far as I know. My evaluation went back to her childhood.

Q: Do you consider Borderline Personality Disorder a mental illness or a psychological disorder and why?
DeMarte: It's a psychological disorder which has the same meaning as mental illness.

Q:  How does dissociation play into Borderline Personality Disorder?
DeMarte: It's a technique to distance oneself from an environment that is anxiety provoking. One of the symptoms of BPD is dissociation and paranoia.

Wow! Nurmi is a real piece of work. Clearly, the DT is desperate to get a do-over. Nurmi accusing JM of "yelling" at Geffner is just rich after the way Nurmi yelled at Dr. DeMarte and called her Dr. Death. I hope he doesn't get JSS to rule a mistrial.

I read that the judge was going to use the afternoon to individually question each juror in chambers. The word is that it is expected that the trial will take longer than once again anticipated.

Yes, 18th, I am really bothered by the jury questions. It does seem that there is a juror or jurors that are feeling some sympathy for JA's "mental illness".

It seems like it is legal for an expert, or expert witness, to help the lawyers involved in a trial to build a case, whether they are working or testifying  for the prosecution or for the defense.

Maybe, it will be in a book JA writes. (I don't think JM or prosecution persons are allowed to write books about cases until all appeals are used up OR while still employed.) IF JA writes a book, one of us should buy the book.... and pass it around! That would cut down on profits...

The Arizona Supreme Court has denied the defense petition to stay the release of Hodi's testimony. Hallelujah, someone sees through Nurmi's junk filings.

I agree.  I think JM or EF would have to retire before either one could write a book. So, we might be waiting for a long time before we get the REAL inside scoop on JA's murderous expedition and cover-up.  

Personally, I think any book written by JA would be full of nothing but self-promoting nonsense and magical thinking.  I hope Travis' family wins a wrongful death civil suit and is able to claim the proceeds from anything (books, art, trial eyeglasses, t-shirts) that JA produces or authorizes from her prison cell.

Me too! LOL, yes, let Nurms stand up near the end and say Jodi will not be making a plea or statement due to her diminished mental capacities after the Jury has already seen her get up and talk for at least a day, not to mention seeing her in multiple video taped examples of manipulation that took a LOT of planning!!

I had heard a rumor that the def. Dr. GooFee, and Dr. Hired Gun Gef were to be back yet again for another def. surrebutal...Is that true?
If so, OMG, how long can they drag this out. IMO it only took a few hours for Dr. De Marte to completely destroy them, and make them look like incompetent hacks---I think the jury must see that too. Trotting them up there again would be cringe-y for everyone in the courtroom at this point, and if anything is a case of 'less is more' this should be---I think the defense will only hurt their case further by bringing up those 2 for another round of comparisons to what Dr. D. said, and another cross from Juan...

Hi everyone.  The way I understood it explained by AZLawyer on WS is that even if JA declines to continue testifying - because she would have to do it in public, she would still have an opportunity for allocution.  

Also, I believe Juan still has Detective Perry Smith to go on rebuttal but not sure if that will be today due to the defense's hissy fit about not having a report even though Juan had to proceed when BN did not provide a report.  Double standard, much??  

I believe the defense still gets a surrebuttal, and you just know they are bringing back Geff and Fonseca.  Ugh.
